and improperly closed certain lines of questioning during cross-examination. Senior investigative reporter Aaron Katorsky is outside the New York courthouse with more information about Aaron. What is behind these statements by Joe Takapina and how did the judge react? The judge had limited Joe Takapina in how far he could go in asking Eugene Carroll certain questions about his past and his decision making.

He wanted to explore with her why he didn't go to the police, for example. or why she didn't look for security camera footage from Bergdorf Goodman, the department store where she says Trump attacked her in the mid-1990s in a dressing room, and Takapina said that by limiting the scope of her questions she was showing unfair treatment of the

, so at least for the moment there will be no mistrial and the cross-examination of Eugene Carroll has resumed now that the cross-examination appears to focus on his habits Shopping.

Takapina is really trying to question some of his actions as he tries to sow. doubt in the jury's mind she has testified that she continued shopping at Bergdorf Goodman you made a lot of purchases there he asked and she said well I wouldn't say many but I made several and then she showed a list between 2001 and 2018 of about 23 purchases that Eugene Carroll had done at Bergdorf Goodman for a total of over thirteen thousand dollars and I think the inference here is that she returns with some frequency to a place where she was allegedly raped and this has been a line of questioning that has continued as well. from takapina just confronted EG and Carol with some of her advice columns from over the years where she advises her readers who have been sexually assaulted to go and report them to the police or the sexual crimes unit of the New York City in the Manhattan district attorney's office and that's meant to contrast, I think, with Carol's own behavior, where she said she didn't call the police, she didn't seek medical help or psychological treatment, now Aaron, What will happen next with this trial?

Well Eugene Carroll remains on the witness stand and she is going to be questioned for an additional period of time, it looks like takapina may be coming to an end and then her attorneys will have the opportunity to redirect her, uh, maybe clear up any testimony that they feel it may be etched in the minds of the jurors and then A little later, we expect to hear from two women who Carol says told her at the time of the alleged attack what had happened to her. Those two women, Carol Martin, a former television host, and Lisa Bernbach, a writer, are expected to testify. with two other women who say Donald Trump sexually assaulted them, which he denies.
