Mar 05, 2024
Hello, I'm very glad you're here. I can't wait to show you how I decorated my house for Christmas this year. Wait, wait a second, you didn't think I was going to show you the final result. First do I have to show you some of the DIY projects and the process I went through to get to this point? So let's rewind the tape. I decided to keep the pink and green floral arrangement from last week's video and use it as color inspiration. for my foyer I added a pink velvet ribbon to these brass reindeer I found at a thrift store a couple years ago and I added some purplish pink eucalyptus stems to this vase I upcycled in a previous video.

I thought about buying a new garland this year, but then decided I'd settle for what I already had once I had it fixed. I used florist wire to hold it in place and removed the white poinsettias I had previously added to the garland. I used florist wire to attach some. of my

vintage

ornaments into the garland and interspersed some inexpensive pink and green ornaments that I had purchased at Walmart. I added the remaining

vintage

ornament events to this small

tree

I've had for a while because these ornaments are very fragile. cheap ornament hooks that I can pinch closed completely when attaching them to the

tree

that way they won't fall off the branches.

I threaded a piece of florist wire through three of the ornaments and added them to the wreath as well. I found a few more of those pink eucalyptus stems in my stash and added some to the garland and also the wreath last week. I made a little Christmas village inside a thrift store suitcase that I put on a dresser in my dining room this week. I pulled an old metal arch from my basement to put behind the suitcase and attached an old Christmas ornament, since my dining room is all blue and white. I decided to cut the red berries from the ornament and replace them with cranberries that I cut from an old candle.

The ring I had in my stash I used the same garland and ribbons that I used last year on the china cabinet and chandelier. The garland was from Walmart and I just added the fake blueberries that I think I bought at Hobby Lobby, some of you will. Remember that last year I made this tree necklace out of cardboard and a thrift store blanket, so this year I decided to make a similar one to go around the white tree in my family room. I took apart two cardboard boxes of similar size and cut. I removed the top flaps from both boxes, but did not cut the bottom flaps because they add extra stability by keeping the tree

collar

s upright.

I added two panels from my second box to my first box using double sided carpet tape but masking tape. would work just as well, then I glued the 10 fake Dollar Tree

tile

s to the sides of my cardboard boxes. When you cut these

tile

s, they come off the adhesive backing, so you want to use whole tiles as much as possible. I used the two-sided ones. carpet tape in places where I needed to fill with a small strip of tile. I used a utility knife to cut away any part of the cardboard box that extended beyond the top of the tiles because the Dollar Tree tiles look more like plastic than actual tin.
I painted mine with a coat of creamy chalk paint and when the paint was dry I distressed it lightly with a sanding block. Here's a tip: cut the top of your cardboard box about a half inch shorter than the height of your tile to get a nice clean top edge, unfortunately on two sections of my tree

collar

I had cut the cardboard perfectly to the height of the slab and you could see the top corrugated edge, so to disguise it I ran a bead of putty along the top edge of the cardboard and then smoothed it out.
I pulled out with my finger and while I pulled out the cot gun, I went ahead and put a bead of caulk in the crack between the tiles. This star was too heavy for the top of my tree, so I used my angle grinder to remove it. heavy metal spring, then I was able to push the star down onto the upper branches. I normally hang a wreath over this mirror, but this year I decided to use a boxwood topiary tree I had and just add some white berries for that touch. Christmas mood, so I decided to hang this beautiful blue and white needlepoint that I found at Goodwill several months ago for just a couple of dollars.
I hung it from a velvet ribbon tied to a clear command hook that was attached to the mirror that decorated my mantel in Christmas is always a challenge because my husband doesn't like Garland running along the bottom edge of the TV, so this year I decided to just use a lightweight Garland string placed under the TV and attached to my ceramic mantel using a piece of conduit. tape on each end, then I took apart a flower arrangement from a thrift store and then used those Greenery picks to fill in on both sides of the TV, then added some spare ornaments, a couple of bows, some pinecones and some dried hydrangeas in my garden, one of my favorite rooms to decorate for the holidays is the kitchen because, let's face it, it's where I'll spend most of my time.
I bought some new rolls of ribbon because I find that tying a bow to something is the cheapest way to turn it around. On any Christmas

decorating

topic, last year I set up this area of my kitchen as a hot chocolate bar, but since no one in my family really drinks hot chocolate except me, I decided to make it with my old thermoses this year at first. I attached some Velcro strips to the tile so I could hang a Christmas plate, but then decided I wanted to use some primitive art from a thrift store. Instead, this reindeer was a thrift store find from several years ago and I only give him a new bow around his neck each year.
I think the hand-stitched artwork is the perfect complement to my vintage thermoses. This velvet chair is my new favorite place to decorate and give it a Christmas look. I placed an old DIY sign on the back of the chair and hung my fake pill bottle. Brass bells. I also swapped out the books for red and green books and added some fake greenery and then glued in some branches from a tree from my front yard. I added a couple of red and white transfer scuff plates to this kitchen cubby and then just put some red greenery and berries here and there and tied some bows around some of my antique kitchen utensils.
Decorating the top of the cubicle is always a challenge because the big bulletin board is so distracting that you'll have to revisit last year's one. video for the story behind this plate from Courier and Ives and the house for a unique garland. I decided to hang my vintage cookie cutters from a ribbon that ran across the top of the bulletin board. I then swapped out the ribbon for a strand of pome berries from Dollar Tree. I took the fake pumpkin out of this old coffee can and Zoe and I replaced it with some fake Holly. I also tied a ribbon to a skewer stick and put it in the can.
One of the reasons I fell in love with this house is because it had several built-in shelves in the kitchen. I usually don't change the shelves too much. I hang a couple of small wreaths and add the little Christmas houses I made with bird houses in one of last year's videos. Frequently change the decoration on the top of this buffet. I moved these wooden candle holders from somewhere else and then added a thrift store toolbox that I filled with a thrift store flower arrangement. I added a star that I had made by hot gluing sticks. and then I wrapped them with twine, moved the glass beverage dispenser to another location, and added some greenery and faux berries with the vintage music scrolls.
I also tied these storybook blocks I made last year to the back of the bar stools, well I think I've discussed my

decorating

process for quite some time. Now let me show you how it all turned out. More decoration ideas, here you have another video that I think you might like, foreigner.
