Sony A7IV vs Fuji X-H2S .. Guerrilla Review Style

Mar 21, 2024
hello hello, okay, I'm back, I'm not a consistent poster. I post when I can, when I have something to say and I definitely have something to say about the a74 and the xh2 if you can't tell from the title of the video which is today's comparison, I know there are many tests available or there are definitely tests on youtube , and there will be more and more proof on youtube, so manage expectations of what you will get from me. it's that you're not going to get graphs you're not going to get measurements you're not going to make someone run towards the camera I'm not going to run for this test I'm just not going to run if they chase me, I like to ride a bike, riding a bike is much better to me, you won't get what you know, pointing at sheets of paper and all that and going to the edges of the lenses, you'll get what another

review

er mentioned. like

guerrilla

testing and that's my test, my tests are use case tests for the record.
sony a7iv vs fuji x h2s guerrilla review style
I used to get paid to test living devices for a certain company in the past and I had criteria for those tests. There were things they wanted to see. um and there were measurements and there was also the subjective side, right, not everyone chooses something based on a result of 1.85 versus 1.93 or 2.04, whatever, so today is the comparison between these two bodies, um , a quick story or a quick overview. from my history as a Nikon shooter as a beginner I went mirrorless through Fuji for like seven eight years. I will always have a Fuji body. This is being filmed with an x100b and I tried many cameras.

More Interesting Facts About,

sony a7iv vs fuji x h2s guerrilla review style...

I tried. I think it was. like a d500 my dog is not happy with someone but i'm not going to stop and the autofocus on the d500 was like money i mean it was amazing but it was just big it was clunky and again it wasn't mirrorless , so I was trying. to stay mirrorless and if I could stay with one manufacturer, you know, with both bodies, color consistency is very useful, so long story short, I left Fuji because my main body will always have a small portable

fuji

, but initially I left Fuji for Nikon Z. body z50 and z62 and I left Nikon because I wanted more consistent eye detection autofocus with my pets and with my children and not exactly in that order.
sony a7iv vs fuji x h2s guerrilla review style
I wanted to have the ability to capture an eyeball without having to work so hard. My children are never still my Pets are never still, so one day, sitting in a coffee shop, someone asked me if he had tried the Sony A74 because we were talking about do you know what you shoot? They saw my camera and like we were talking, it's like I'm I'm not a professional, I just like to photograph around the neighborhood, trips, vacations, family events, things like that and he said, Have you tried the A74? I told him: Not really, I'm not a big solid person, I wasn't trying to bother anyone. and he said we had tried it once.
sony a7iv vs fuji x h2s guerrilla review style
I was like, well, I tried the a73, I tried the a6400, the a6600 and I never vibed with any of those. The autofocus on the a7 iii was pretty good, but I mean, it wasn't like it did. In my opinion it doesn't waste the z62 so he said you have to try the a74 you absolutely have to try the a74 and I thought what about the colors and he says the best colors I've seen on Sony um and to cut it. to the point I was absolutely right the best colors I've seen subjectively my opinion the best colors I've seen on a

fuji

body sorry ever seen on a

sony

body the colors on the a74 it's like

sony

came out and said Let's take the colors floral greens of the outdoor landscape from Nikon Check and we're going to take the skin tones, the warm rosy cheeks from Canon Check, that will make a lot of people happy and I think this camera will make a lot of people happy.
It has made me very happy. I've been shooting this as my main body for months and months and months, vacations, trips, kids, family events, everything and I've been extremely pleased with every single thing that came out of this camera and, um, the autofocus. That goes with it, so why are you sitting here? I mean, it's sitting here because I had the xh1 and I loved it. He loved it and said this is the best autofocus ever on a Fuji body, that means I have to try it. It is absolutely necessary to try it, so where are we?
When I refer to autofocus, it is the ability to constantly focus on one eye consistently and reliably. Take an eye and focus when I take a photo of my family or my pets. I do not do it. doing masterful or professional portraits or something, but there's something about that shot that catches your eye. My experience with Sony is eye detection and autofocus at the level of witchcraft. It's amazing, it's amazing with the 24 to 105 where this guy can go. lens is amazing with the 52.5 lens and side note, the 52.5 badass lens in my opinion is better than the 55 1.8 zeiss and the tip of the lens, I think I have studied or tested the resolution and it says this is a sharper lens , your mileage may vary but I have had both and this is a better lens, please leave comments below if you disagree, so between these two I will say witchcraft level autofocus as far as capturing the view, this is 95 of this, I didn't expect to expect 80 of this, I got 95.
I can see where this is going, I love you, but 95 and the colors appear. One thing I want to talk about with these two chambers. If you've never shot with extremely accurate and sticky automatic eye detection, it completely changes the way you shoot historically. me taking pictures of my children he is sitting on the couch he is making cookies with my wife whatever frame the shot and then move the focus point to the eye frame the shot move the focus point to the right eye and there will be focus and recomposition that work for things that are still for me focusing and recomposing is not happening with my kids, I mean it would be like focusing and focusing and focusing and focusing and recomposing and then over and over again what these cameras do is they reverse the process, it's um grab the eye and compose, you know it's not composed, grab the eye, I'm in focus with the back button with all my cameras and when this is in eye capture mode, it literally grabs the eye immediately, you hold focus, it has the eye you can sit there and dance and do whatever you want, you can see the green dot that stays there, so grab the attention, compose, grab the attention, change the way you shoot, much easier, much easier and they're both absolutely incredible in this regard, so you can Don't go wrong with either of these again, we're talking about Fuji being 95 witchcraft, we'll leave it at that, so what's next?
Detection of water in pets' eyes, if it matters, if they are excellent when it comes to humans. Eye detection and autofocus are both very, very good when it comes to pets. Warning: I'm not talking about your dog doing cartwheels catching frisbees, I'm talking about the dog sitting with the family playing in the backyard, maybe running towards you or running around. but I have found that they are both consistently over 70 um in getting a good eye or a good focus of the pets face, so they are both winners, honestly, you know, next I will talk about the colors, um, that's not um, you know. controversial at all so we'll go there colors colors good tea iced tea obviously very subjective um nothing I say today should change your mind as to whether you love Sony whether you love Fuji nothing I say is scientific it really isn't What I've seen on these bodies and what I've seen on the bodies are absolutely stunning colors from both, so we can stop right now.
What should you expect? Honestly, again. What you should expect is incredible landscape colors. I'm going to oh. wait a minute I've made this video so many times my kids have interrupted my kids have interrupted me my dogs have interrupted me this thing doesn't want to record more than 15 minutes on overheats and I've never noticed that I think I like the colors of the landscape from the Sony more than the Fuji are really good, they're really good, like I said, they're almost like the Nikon colors when it comes to outdoor landscapes, flowers, yeah, skin tones, I'm getting the yellow. blush on the cheeks that I don't see in person and I don't understand with the fuji, so these are the best colors I've seen on any Sony I've ever used, you know, I've used it like I've tried it. three bodies, this is my fourth and the photographer that day at the coffee shop who said this was witch level autofocus with the best cologne colors I've ever seen from Sony, he's right, the guy is a pro, so there you have it, that's the Sony side, the fuji colors, I love them, they're fuji colors, they have film simulations.
One thing I have discovered is that for skin tones there is a pro nag standard that works amazing. there's a standard pro standard that's like just your standard profile, it looks good, you know the colors. They are accurate, I feel like they are consistent but a lot of times I switch and try the pronag standard and they look great, it kind of relaxes the skin tones if that makes a difference so honestly I'm not going to spend a lot of time on the colors, it's like the most subjective thing ever, they're both amazing, um, yeah, I mean, that's what the colors are, okay, let's move on, especially since this guy wants to be overheated and everything, um, iso noise comparison. where it gets interesting this should be the clear winner when it comes to iso noise it is full frame this is a crop sensor body its not that simple and there is a

review

that shows a room being filmed and i think they are not even the same iso they are adjusting for this or whatever there were some comments and the comments were not appreciated I tried to comment they were not appreciated it's as a friend we're just trying to have a conversation here we're not trying to question your work but whatever whatever I mean, people are going to question this, you know, everything you know, what they say, opinions are like, well, everyone has one, so what I found when testing iso noise, let me stop for a minute when I say what I'm looking for what I'm testing for iso noise: how much noise is there when I go and shoot at 3200 iso 6400 um 10,000 what am I seeing in the subject what am I seeing in the non-subject when it comes to noise?
What I'm testing here, the test was done in good light, medium light, in a downstairs room where my kids play video games and a lot of times the images just turn orange, outside light comes in, there are only light bulbs, fluorescent bulbs or whatever. it's like cameras consistently, a lot of cameras, there's someone who's really bad at it, they don't know what to do so they just make the subject orange, I have an orange joke, but we won't go there, but as for the iso noise . I thought the sony would win and in my opinion it didn't and when I say that what I found is especially in images at 6 400 10 000 um I liked the noise of the fuji better I took some photos of my children in that room I said 5000 iso 6400 and then I liked the massive level zoom, like more zoom than anyone should do, it's like there's a double tap, which is your standard zoom.
My phone is here if you're wondering what I'm pointing at and then it's like zoom, let's zoom and zoom and zoom to the right and since none of us need to do that with standard zooms like double tap zooms or just looking at the image, these things are good like 6400, you will have a good image. I don't want to say that you're going to have a great image at 10,000 but I don't know that I wouldn't use that image maybe you know it's black and white, but what I found when I zoomed in because remember I'm looking for the noise I'm looking to see how you see the structure of the noise is the noise from the sony was consistently more electric more hyperactive i thought it had more colors if that makes sense it was just a vibrant energy or just hyper noise, it wasn't a relaxing noise at all and this is very subjective but it is the damn noise i looked at on the phone ipad, blowing up the fuji shock noise until it was a grain boundary noise, now i'm not.
I go to bsu and say iso 10000 is grainy like no I mean I don't think so but it was non electrical noise not colorful more grainy that's what I found and again I shot in decent lighting I shot in decent lighting middle-low. lighting and even when my kids were sleeping one night I sat there and took some photos basically in the dark. um ibis is nice. I wasn't really worried about getting super sharp images as much as finding the noise and in a scientific way. It's not scientific, I could be totally wrong, it is what it is.
I like the noise structure of the fuji. Better there you have it, so to hell with evidence or science, what's next? Ergonomics, this may surprise some people, I mean, this is Fuji, right, this is a comfortable Fuji. xh1 body um and I must warn that I have been using this for months and this for a few weeks, but in my opinion the Sony wins in ergonomics, it feels great in the hands, this 52.5 feels like you are not holding anything. very light, but it's not just light for me, ergonomics or how easy it is to use something, how fluid it is, how hard it is to not have to work to use something, things just make sense, you know everything is lined up where it should be and as if they were.
They really are and you can assign buttons, but when I use this cameraup here, I assign it to my focus modes so I can go from I'm looking for people I'm looking for objects down here, the "OK" button is " In fact, I'm looking for people and I turn on detection because I could have it and look for things, but actually I don't want to capture a person so I can turn this off and on this button the trash button toggles between searching for a human or an animal or a bird and you can turn this off you can just say I'm not going to search for birds so it looks like which will cycle between a human animal, a human animal, um conOn the Nikons I found that I often had to go to the eyes menu or the functions menu or whatever, that little menu where all the things are, once that I turn this on, I never and it's both bodies, so far I never have to go into that menu and I felt like with it like the z50 and the z62 I thought boom this but I mean my exposure lock my exposure compensation my focus modes. my timer like this wins the ergonomics battle for me it's an easier camera to use um let's talk about that Fiji for a second it's like I don't have the 33.
I like it. The comparison I made was between this 50 and a 33 1.4 and then I compared the 16 to the 55 to the 241.5. It is what it is, but the main tests were. I ended up using a 52.5 compared to the Fuji with a 33 1.4, you know, nifty ergonomics type of test 50 on the Fuji. I'm seeing there's something here that Fuji users have wanted for a long time, begging for a pass, mark this guy. here fuji users rejoice, it's actually called masp mascara dial, so i don't know if you're going to like it so much that they call it mascara dial, that's what it is, i don't care, it works fine, it has a little padlock, it has a click.
I actually returned Fuji bodies, I won't say what model they were cheap on this little thing that clicks this on a certain Fuji model and it sounded like a little tin toy, I thought, no. I'm paying way too much money for that, but anyway I ramble on the ergonomics of this are great. I love the fact that the d-pad is back. I have a joystick here. I have my Q menu here. I lock and do it, I'm an on and off type of person, I don't press and hold, but I started doing it less and ended up doing more with exposure compensation, but the d-pad is amazing, the beauty of it, everything can be mapped like well, so not only can I map my d-pad from top to bottom, so there's my um like uh measurement, there's my film simulations, I don't know if you can see any of this, but I'm going to do this anyway I have my shutter type here I have my grain effect and then I can swipe for a self timer I can create a timer right there swipe down and I have animal detection swipe left I have performance let's get back to normal the performance, so the ergonomics of the fuji are great, they are really good, there are these top buttons and that is the iso, the white balance and this, and there is another blogger who jokes about this button and he is right, he is right, I do not do it.
I don't know what food I was thinking of. The only reason or the only way I think I would use that button is because I wouldn't bring my finger here. I would use my thumb like this or like that. I have assigned it to white balance. I rarely use or change the white balance, the front one is iso, this one is oh, I've assigned it to auto face detection so now it's off, so technically it says white balance, I put the white balance on bottom and my face is automatically detected and off is set there so they are both great but for me Sony was not easier to use even if I think I had this and use it for a few more months I just know that I have I've used a lot of cameras and where things are and the way I use them is top notch for Sony, so Sony wins the ergonomics battle for me, so you might be wondering which one I'll take.
I'll stick with the Fuji. I love the Sony. I'm going to put it up for sale. I have a lot of lenses that I need to sell. They should appear on Reddit Photomarket. If any of you are interested, I ship by Fedex. I assure you it was a difficult decision. It really was again. You can't go wrong with any of these cameras. I'm a Fuji shooter and if I can get 95 witch level autofocus, if I can get the colors I prefer, I'm not saying the right thing, what I prefer, I get iso noise at, you know, 6,400 8,000 10,000 that.
I don't think it looks that bad. I got excellent automatic pet eye detection. Just after a couple of points of sale, it's a natural move for me to go back to Sony, but I guess for the purpose of this video, what I should say is. which you really can't go wrong with any of these and I think they're pretty similarly priced similarly, I can't say that word, you know what I'm going to dive into a couple of random things here, um evf, and that's what you know, look no the lcd on the back the lcd on the back is like anything i don't use it much um the sony evf is embarrassing absolutely embarrassing let's see if this does the same oh i'll talk about that in At the moment when someone also understands our ergonomics well, the evf of this Sony is one of the best televisions in the world.
What they put a good evf in this thing is like 85 points it's like I don't know it's bad I think my z50 had a better evf than this and it doesn't matter if it's big if it's not sharp the fuji's evf is the best evf i have ever seen i have taken pictures with the fuji i looked at them through the evf and thought oh that sharp one brought them to the phone and i felt like they weren't as sharp as what i looked at and that doesn't make any sense to me like what is going ridiculous, evf, ridiculous, it's imax, this is 720p, you know, it's good hd, right?
It's imax, that's the evf and that's the experience, right, that's ergonomics, I mean, that should play, I'm still not going to kick this guy out, um and another reason for that, what I was noticing is that when you're reviewing images, I want to sit down. here and I want to like it, oh maybe I should, but I like reviewing images, it lets me zoom in and honestly it doesn't work that well, but the only thing it doesn't do is when I do this it doesn't turn off. the damn boogie on the screen I'm taking a photo I took it like that I took it like that now I want to look at that picture now I'm going like this this one is disappearing x1 100v he's tired of me and I love you x100v I do it, I love you, I love you, I love you for everything you are and everything you do and I will always own one of you, but you are fired, absolutely fired, this guy will take care of you and if it wasn't necessary then I'm going to close, I hope that worked with the comparison of the shutter sound and I just want to say that you can't go wrong with any of these.
They are both amazing cameras. I highly recommend 24 to 105, it is literally an anchor. lens that lens got me thinking: I'm going to find a fuji lens for walking, walking around the neighborhood, traveling, just you know, a good range, I'm going to find a lens that can match or surpass it, including the 16 to 55 and the people Fuji will tell you that this is a bag of prime lenses. No it's not, no it's really good, but it's not a prime lens bag. It is not the Sony 52.5. I think I said it before. I think it's an amazing lens.
It's super light. You have your opening. ring, you have a little button down here that you can set up all kinds of fun things, but the results of the 52.5 yeah, you give up 1.4, you give it 1.8, but for a lot of people they don't need 1.4 especially. enthusiasts 1.1.8 none of us need that creamy bokeh like I want my kids eyes in focus and their ears so 2.5 is perfect 2.5 on a full frame absolutely perfect very happy with it um the 33 1.4 from Fuji that lens doesn't going nowhere amazing amazing lens very happy with the result very surprised um it's a 1.4 but I mean I didn't want the I think I had the 35 f2 lens great great lens great but when I bought this I knew if I kept it I was selling a ton of area per year and could cover the price of 33 1.4.
I honestly felt it was the best lens to compare to the Sony. I don't know if I'd say either one is better, who cares? At this point I want to say that you are not going to use them on both excellent lenses, so in summary I am surprised having been a Sony user for a while, absolutely surprised and I will always have a place in my heart for the a74 that I want . Save it but I can't have thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars on camera equipment and you have to have your body right you have to have your hair so I hope this video helped you if you have questions contact me ask ask deal to respond. to all the comments, even if you are a troll, thanks for your comment, time and interaction, that's all, that's all I have and I hope this helps, have a great day, take care, it's okay, this is like a b -roll here, but you may have noticed I said something. about um, I don't know if you call it the shutter click sound, so I'll try to do that now.
I'm here for you, full service even though it's a spread out, smothered and covered waffle house, sometimes we will. This thing I referenced in the random note type section was the shutter sound and I'm just going to close with shutter sounds, why not close after the close? So we'll start with Sony and I'll describe Sony. like the law and order shutter sound, it's a these are both with the electric front curtain, so I'm guessing you're only getting part of the mechanical shutter of the shutter, so this stroke would be double, it would really be long, but here come on.
I do it like here I thought it was okay take 11. let's see if this works here we go let's focus something there we go and then we'll do it from the side so that's part of the show you know I'm dying to come here and see if it works What so quickly can I make these shutter mode settings here we go? Am I right, no, yes, we remove the front curtain now let's do both, oh, that's really the sound, oh my God. that's the sound, okay, you've had it in your ears, now let's go to the fuji, let's start with the electronic front curtain, I don't know if you heard I took a photo, so it's here with the electric front curtain, so let's see if we can change this to fully mechanical, fully mechanical ninja, back to law and order and for laughs we'll turn on the electric front cut, electric front curtain, I'm a comeback template, she'll get the only pop I'm here for you I'm here for you really let's close with this let's turn this back into electric front curtain shutter I mean I don't know how it's transmitted through the microphone I swear I heard this on another take that was totally trashed but it's like in a volume level from one to ten, this is a six and this is a three, yeah, maybe a three and a seven, so where would that make a difference? -100b is a perfect example, it's a sash blind that you can take pictures of without acknowledging that I took a picture.
I will give you an example. My wife and I recently took an anniversary trip to Napa. We were down. the barrels she's talking to the wine guy and they're in an argument I come out with my big ass honking already, I mean I would ask her ahead of time hey, do you mind if I take some pictures? No, not at all, take what you want. They didn't know when I took photos. I have photos of them in conversation. It wasn't like I took a photo and then they looked good. I took several photos and I don't know if they were ever seen, so the x100v is the same way I call it the ninja shutter, I can take casual, spontaneous photos of family friends and you don't interrupt them all, so it really I think this is the end.
We'll see if it takes you to the next video, but I really appreciate your time. I hope all this has helped you. Ask any questions you want and any way I can help you. I'm glad you do it and that you have a good experience. Really take care of yourself this time.
