sign with a place for two square tiles and one of our new balls. The theme of these inserts is

, but you can exchange them for tiles and balls you already have or you can get new ones through my website. I already have several topics. available and I am working on uploading some for each season the first thing we will do is paint the frame which is made of pine so you can stain it with your favorite color stain if you want or you can do like I did. and paint it.

I'm using the baby wipe method for this one. To do this, take a baby wipe or a damp paper towel and dip it in your paint. I'm using brown and then just wipe the paint on your frame. I like this method. for pine because it allows some of the wood grain to show through, which really gives it that stained look, then continue staining all the sides that you want to stain, you don't have to do it on the back, you're not going to see that. once you hang it, but you can if you want, the next thing we're going to work on is painting the rest of this sign starting with the letters on mine.

I decided to paint the letters in neutral colors that way when I swapped them out. take out the inserts for different seasons, it will match almost anything and for this part I prefer to use a makeup sponge, you can get them anywhere at Walmart, Target Dollar Store, Amazon, so just apply your makeup sponge on the paint, remove the excess and then paint your letters to darker colors like this black. You'll probably only need one coat if you're doing a lighter color, so you may need two or three, just make sure to let them dry between coats for the best result.

I will paint the backing of the sign. You can paint this however you want today. I'm using a foam brush because that's what I had on hand, but a regular brush works great too. My absolute favorite way to paint these backs is to use spray paint or Using a roller, you can get the little two inch rollers from Home Depot for a couple of dollars and they work great for larger projects like this, faster than using a brush and leave a cleaner finish, but use what you have on hand regardless of the method you choose, you'll probably need several coats, just be sure to let it dry between each one.

These two longer pieces here will create a little shelf for the square tiles, so make sure you paint them on the front and back as well and then once we have them attached to the sign, we'll paint all the exposed sides, but don't worry about that now, you're also going to want to paint this big circle, you don't have to worry about painting the small one because you're going to stick the big one on top of the small one so you don't even see it, but you're definitely going to want to paint one side of this big one.
The next part is optional. I designed the sign to have an overlap, face the bottom, so there are lines that are marked horizontally when you paint the backing, the lines become hard to see, so I'm taking a ruler and a needle, a toothpick works very well too. well and I'm scraping. When you remove the paint from the marked lines, it is almost impossible to see the lines on the video, but in person you will be able to see them better again. This step is optional. I've also seen people repaint the lines with a paint marker or brush, if you're really talented I prefer this method.
Next, you'll want to lightly sand the board with the sanding sponge just to smooth it out. Make sure you clean all the dust really well and we'll get ready. gluing to finish the side, we will glue everything together. I prefer super glue for this part, especially for the small pieces on the shelves. I love this so-called quick fuse, but any super glue should work fine to do this part. Glue the largest rectangle first to create the actual shelf, this piece will stick out from your sign and create a space for the square tiles to sit. It's impossible to see in this video but there is a marked line on the backing that I cut as a guide so you know where to glue this, hold this piece in place until the glue sets, usually about 30 seconds or so and then we'll attach the face of the shelf.
This part will give it a more finished look and will also create a small lip on the shelf that will help keep the square tiles from sliding around. Next we will glue the small circles, this will create a place to hang the paddles. I have marked a small circle on the backing so you can see where to place. glue them together to find that and then glue the smaller circle first and then the larger one on top of that and finally we'll start gluing all the letters for home

home again. There is a guide marked on the backing to help you with where to stick them in this step, we will go back in and touch up the paint on the shelf.
I wanted to paint the top edge of the face of the shelf as well, so I went back in with your sponge and really touched it up. quick, lastly we will glue the sign onto the frame, super simple, turn the frame upside down on the table, add a dab of glue to the inside of the edge and drop the sign upside down, hold it in place until the glue sets harden and then this part. It's done now that your sign is complete, we just need to paint and assemble your inserts. We will start with the square tiles.
I painted mine with a navy blue accent, but you can paint yours however you want. That's something I love about these. projects, you can customize them to match the decoration you already have in your house, in mine I made a navy blue background with white polka dots, but you can paint it any color you want, you can use a fun scrapbook paper or a Mod napkin Podge. the bottom literally the possibilities are endless for my moles. I'm using a paint marker. I personally like pasta. You can apply the polka dots randomly if you want, but I'm more of a pattern person.
Once everything is dry, you can start gluing. Next we're going to work on the scoop. I recommend taking a baby wipe or a damp paper towel and wiping the label off the cookies. The laser leaves some carbon during engraving and when you paint over it, especially if you are using a light color it can discolor the paint, so instead of a white label you end up with one that has a brown tint. Darker colors aren't usually a problem, but I'm painting mine white. Just a gentle clean works great. Also someone in our Facebook group recommended using a touch of alcohol to clean it and that works great too.
I'm using the baby wipe method to stain the scoop and cookies and then just a sponge for all the other bits. I'm adding some finishing touches with paint markers. I put dark chocolate chips in my cookies and filled the hearts of my oven mitts with white. I also made white polka dots on one of my beads to play with the square tile I had painted. Before and lastly we can start gluing and assembling, start by gluing the top of the scoop and then you can glue the cookies there. The two largest cookies will make a bead, so set them aside but glue the three smaller ones together. there as you want and finally we will begin to assemble.
I'm going to speed up this part. I want you to be able to see the entire process, but I don't want you to get bored with the time it takes me to tie. my knots, if you're having trouble stringing your beads, dip the ends of your thread in a little super glue and let it dry and sometimes that helps, and after you're done putting it all together, this project will be complete. I hope you enjoyed it. As much as I did, be sure to upload photos of your finished project or Facebook group which I will link below and if you have any questions feel free to reach out, I'll be happy to help.
