The Untapped Potential of Waluigi

Apr 01, 2024
Over the years, many quirky characters have appeared in Mario's adventures, some have come and gone, others have stayed, but today I want to talk about a specific case that really catches my attention and, as you can see from the title, it's purple. Waluigi, the dressed plumber, although I don't think it's technically correct, Waluigi doesn't seem to actually be a plumber, in fact, they don't really know what he does, besides in almost all the Mario spin-offs, as many of you know that It was Waluigi. created during the development of Mario Tennis for N64 by Camelot designer fumi Aoki, I hope I pronounced it correctly, specifically, he was created as a doubles partner for Wario and as a rival to Luigi, as Wario is to Mario, while Luigi is essentially the same concept for Wario. but with Luigi, however, not everything seems to translate well when you take certain aspects of Wario's creation and apply them to Luigi, for example, Wario's name, the W and Wario is just the m, and Mario's name to the backwards, which creates a pretty clever naming convention. with Luigi you can't really do the same since an inverted L isn't really a letter.

The same goes for Waluigi's hat logo, while the other three characters wear caps with their respective initials. Waluigi is forced to use this. Inverted L One more interesting thing I wanted to point out regarding Waluigi's design is something very minor but kind of fun for me. I'm not sure if this is something consistent for Waluigi's design, but I really like this design. Choice anyway if you look closely. One of his renders for Super Mario Party, the logo on his cap is actually a sticker, which we can tell because the top right corner is peeling off a little, this is something incredibly minor that you couldn't really notice with just a glance. passé, but I think it's pretty funny for what it implies, my interpretation is that unlike the other guys who wear hats, who have their caps made to their liking, while Luigi doesn't seem to have the funds to do so, he opts for make your own DIY. hat and it's a pretty cool job all things considered, maybe he even stole one from Luigi and modified it, it would make sense, I mean, Nintendo Power States.

More Interesting Facts About,

the untapped potential of waluigi...

He stole Luigi's underwear before, so I wouldn't overlook the guy who you'd think is Luigi's rival and Wario's cousin, it's never really been clear what the relationship is between the two, you'd think they'd be brothers given the fact that they are supposed to be the evil versions of Mario Bros and also because they look pretty similar but apparently not. Two aren't really related, regardless of whether one would think that being Luigi's rival and Wario's partner would make this guy a big deal. I mean, Luigi and Wario have their own series of spin-off games, they've both appeared in several mainline titles and they're both in Super Smash Bros.
the untapped potential of waluigi
Surely Waluigi would get something cool, if you're one of the many Avid Waluigi fans you probably already know that within Of the character's 23 years of existence, Luigi has never had any of these things. As of now, Waluigi has not made any appearances in the main Mario series, he has never had his own game of his own and has been relegated to an assist trophy in Smash. One has to wonder why Waluigi is given the short end of the stick. it's only relevant in Mario sports games and other spin-off titles unfortunately we don't really have an answer, it could be that maybe Nintendo just doesn't like it or don't see it as that important, maybe it's because it was technically created by Camelot and not in house or maybe they just hate it and don't want to see it succeed for whatever reason or Nintendo is a failure.
the untapped potential of waluigi
I see

potential

for probably the rest of this video. I want to go over points in Mario's story where I think it would have been fun and made sense to include Waluigi. My only real condition is that the game has to be one that came out after Waluigi was created, so pretty much everything before the year 2000 remains the same. With all that said, I just want to briefly say that These are just my own opinions, you are entitled to your own opinions related to Waluigi, but these are mine, so yeah, without further ado, let's start with the first title.
I think it would have been fun to include Waluigi in is war land 4 for the GBA now I know that normally the only playable character before this point in the War L series was Wario himself, but including Waluigi would have been a fun addition maybe you could choose which character you wanted to play between or maybe even swap between the two. the Fly perhaps Waluigi could have played differently than Wario, having a more buoyant jump and being a faster character, he could also have a lesser version of Wario's charge, being able to only defeat enemies and not destroy blocks or perhaps boost Wario's charge, so he can only destroy the most difficult blocks.
Adding W Luigi in this game could have been a good opportunity to show off his personality regardless of how it was implemented in the game. I think she would have looked great riding alongside Wario in his car or posing with him. after each level, plus he could be in every war and title in the future, another series is that Waluigi could have easily been a part of along with Wario, it would be the Weare warrior series. I'll be honest, I haven't really played any of the Weare warrior games. That's why I'm grouping them together because I know there are a lot of them, so this post may be short, but I think I know pretty much what they're about.
There is a whole new cast of characters introduced in this series and I think Waluigi could have easily slipped in next to them. Waluigi being in the Mario and Luigi series may seem like a stretch, but hear me out. I don't think there is an entry in the franchise for him to appear. I think it would have been really cool to add him and Wario in a completely new game. The Mario and Luiga series usually adds some sort of new gimmick with each new entry with Partners over time. It was time travel with Bowser's Inside Story.
I went inside Bowser and played as him, etc. Creating a new game where you can play as Mario Luigi Wario and Waluigi sounds like a really fun idea. Ideally, this game would be on the DS and come out after Superstar Saga but before Partners in Time, making it the new second entry in the series. the DS has four buttons, Mario and Luigi could be controlled with their usual A and B, with Wario controlled by team reluctantly. Wario's charging move could be implemented instead of him using a hammer or maybe we could see what it would look like if Wario and Waluigi made use of the power-ups, regardless of which a Mario and Luigi game with Wario and Waluigi would be awesome.
I've always thought The Concept would be a fun idea ever since I played Bowser's Inside Story when he was younger. I also remember seeing a lot of fan art of this concept, so I guess there are others expressing my feelings about Wario and Waluigi being in one of these games. next post Super Mario 64 DS I have two ideas, the obvious answer here would be to add Waluigi to the fourth door in the character select room. I'm sure most of you watching this video have heard of the infamous cheat that Waluigi was supposedly in the game similar to L's actual cheat from the original version of Super Mario 64, this one, although it didn't reach the same levels Attention, it was still quite popular, there's even this very convincing fake image titled Purple Prizes which showed several screenshots of Waluigi in different levels. of the game, as well as the character's door, he fully realized, even providing clues to unlock it, suggesting that the player has to collect all the stars in the game and be the fastest foot racer in the country.
If you had to guess what this means, you might be referring to it. to beat Fast Koopa in his two racing challenges. He also says that you have to challenge the Rabbit King. I like the idea of having to defeat a unique boss to unlock Waluigi, as the other characters have their own boss fights to unlock as well. Anyway, I feel like the main driving force behind this deception was the aforementioned fourth door in the character selection room. The appearance of this door in this specific room seems like the game is suggesting that there is an additional playable character that can be found and many believe it. said character was Waluigi, it makes sense when you think about it.
I mean, most of the characters in this game are humans who wear hats. Having Waluigi as an unlockable secret character would help round out the set, plus you could Chun the whole secret character thing. until he is not as well known as the others also look at these doors on one side we have Mario and Luigi on the other side which is symmetrical I add that we have Wario and this mysterious fourth door Mario and Wario's doors are opposite each other of course, the two mirror each other so naturally that the opposite side of Luigi's door would actually be Waluigi's, although this door is in fact not Waluigi and all it really contains is another secret star that has no no real purpose afterward, as far as we know, he was.
Never in the game was fun enough, although in the original version of Super Mario 64 it was discovered that Luigi was actually in the game in earlier stages of development in 2020, there was a huge data leak from Nintendo where a lot of his Internal material was made public regarding Super Mario 64, a pre-release version of the LE game was leaked that included the game's source code and some development assets, among these assets were specific textures and models for Luigi that were quickly rebuilt by fans. to show what it would have been like. like in the game, now I mention this because who knows, maybe the same could be true for Waluigi, someday this whole Luigi thing was found 24 years after the game came out, maybe Waluigi was planning to be in the game, maybe your assets lie somewhere deep. within a pre-released version of 64 DS or maybe it was never considered for the game, regardless of whether anything is possible, but at this point we simply don't know the secrets of 4 DS development.
Now on to my second idea, it may be a bit bold but it's a fun idea, anyway swap Yoshi with Waluigi now I know what you may be thinking: get rid of Yoshi, but Yoshi is awesome and don't get me wrong. I love being able to play as Yoshi, it's really cool that I was. added to this game and it's really the only time you can play as him in a 3D Mario title, but why not give Waluigi this Spight for once? Yoshi is the first character you play with when you start the game and have Waluigi take his place. definitely change things up a bit, it would be an interesting scenario where the other three characters already tried and failed, leaving the fate of the SL Kingdom castle to an unlikely hero, Waluigi, of course, a lot of things would need to be changed, while Luigi I would need something to change. differentiate him from the other characters and would need his own powerful flower ability, but if Nintendo really wanted to, they could have made this work in the end, although I'm satisfied with the game we got, it's a small expansion to the original Super Mario. 64 there are three new playable characters that play slightly different to Mario, more stars to collect, it's portable, although I suppose the original version is now also portable with Switch, but it's also the version I played as a kid, so it has that added nostalgia bonus for me. at least the controls could be better, they're really the only thing stopping me from saying this game is better than the original, but if you can do your best to look past it you have a very solid game on your hands with a lot going for it. of content and tons of replayability maybe one day I'll even do a review on my channel.
Okay, this next entry will be a little different but somewhat similar to the Mario and Luigi entry which I'm not really talking about. a game that exists in Mario's history but a theoretical game concept that comes from Mario Kart DS of course I'm talking about Waluigi's pinball as I've said many times in this video Waluigi doesn't have his own game, it's disappointing for me No I'm sure about everyone else, but I feel like if Nintendo had to do literally the bare minimum for this character by giving him a game, it would be a Waluigi-themed pinball game.
I'm sure many people know it as Waluigi's pinball. clue, so why not give the poor guy his own pinball spin-off? They could even just change the look of Mario pinball land, maybe improve the graphics a bit and create new levels or mechanics, and Bam, you have a really basic Waluigi game, but at least it would be its own game, alternatively Nintendo could do everything possible for a Waluigi-themed pinball game and simply do something completely new by creating a more unique andstylized based on Waluigi's pinball track. It's a shame this isn't already a What I mean is a spin-off where the concept comes from a spin-off that features the most spin-off characters.
It just makes a lot of sense to me. This could be another short entry. It's Wario Master of Disguise for DS. I was debating whether or not I want to include this one, but I thought it would make some kind of sense for Waluigi to appear in this game, even though this is another title I haven't played. I've tried to watch some gameplay and see what other online reviewers think about the game, so for the most part I feel like I understand what the game is about, obviously Waluigi needs to appear alongside Wario for any cutscenes, but honestly, I'm stumped in terms of gameplay, so I consider not adding this to the list that Wario already has.
Tons of different costumes that give him different abilities, so including Waluigi in the mix is tough, the only thing I can really do. I think he's an alternate playable character that plays exactly the same as Luigi plays identically to Mario in the most games. It's not much, but I'm sure people would have liked the option to play as Waluigi instead of another Wario title I own. I didn't play but I love the art style of War and Shake It for Wii, similar to Warand 4. I just think it would have been fun to include Waluigi in the Warri Land series.
It would look amazing in this art style and would have been fun to see the two in an interesting adventure like this, with this title also on the Wii, maybe they could have also introduced simultaneous multiplayer to the Warand series, but only up to two players, since the Wii was able to do simultaneous cooperative games. Op with up to four players for New Super Mario Bros Wii, it is not possible to say that it could have been done as well for this game with only two players, perhaps the camera could focus on the player who has the most coins, since Wario is about to earn money.
Speaking of the new Super Mario Bros Wii, I'm sure you've seen it coming. It's the new Super Mario Bros Wii. Now look, I like nsmbw. It's one of the first Mario games I played and it was the first 2D Mario game. on a home console since Super Mario World, but make no mistake, it's not exactly super original. All of the world themes of this game are taken directly from the new Super Mario Bros DS and will continue to be used in each future entry with the only difference being. one is world 9, the special world, but still, all the individual levels use themes from previous worlds, which is a bit boring in my opinion, they could have done something really cool here, like having the levels take place in the space or maybe even on the moon, which could then alter the gravity so you can jump higher, there is a lot of

potential

for levels just with that idea, in my opinion the most notable things about this game are the return of the Kings , who would also be reused in each future entry, the return of Yoshi, who cannot now be removed from levels, new power-ups, and the introduction of simultaneous cooperative mode with up to four players.
Can you guess which characters you can play as besides Mario and Luigi? Two random toads. What are you telling me about this huge list? Of the characters available, the best Nintendo could create is a yellow and a blue Toad, neither of which are even the main one. Well, maybe they just wanted characters that had their own unique colors, but I have to ask why not go with Wario? and Waluigi, I mean, come on, they're right. It will always be very disappointing to me that two Toads were chosen instead of these guys. It's such a dumb decision.
Wario was already in Super Mario 64 DS, so what's stopping him from being in this game? It's the textbook definition of a missed opportunity, however, there is some saving grace here, leave it to the fans to do what Nintendo does, right? There is a simple mod created by a user called kth that replaces the two Toads with the genies of Wario and Waluigi, their models are They are not as high quality as Mario and Luigi's, they can sometimes look a little wacky and they still have toad voices, but for a free mod, it gets the job done and it does it well.
Congratulations wherever you are, new Super Mario Bros. U is pretty much the same case as nsmbw, but a little worse, it uses the same world themes, but I like the idea of Bowser taking over Peach's castle and transforming it , although the general theme is still the same final boom of the lava fil castle area. The boom also adds to the adventure by taking over these little towers that used to occupy the copings, but to be honest it's pretty forgettable, there's also the return of the baby Yoshis, who function very differently than they did. in Super Mario World, they can even be taken outside. levels like adult Yoshi's, for some reason the only new power introduced is the super acorn, which I think is a nice addition.
I like the way the sliding works and how you can stick to walls, but other than that it seems a little forgettable. not even a cool mod that replaces the Toads with Wario and Waluigi what a bummer well, I'm not a big fan of nsmbu because of its lack of originality. I wouldn't say it's the worst of the new Super Mario Bros games. I'd still like it. Play it if I had to, but I don't think I'd choose to do it very often. Finally, a title that is not a Wario or Mario game, is Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon for 3DS, you may be wondering why you would put Waluigi in this. one and not the first, well it's simple with the first Luigi's Mansion, it's the first entry in their new franchise so I think it's better that the original game focuses mainly on Luigi, sure Mario is there but it has to be rescued and not. the protagonist as usual, so the focus isn't much on him now with the sequel.
I think it would be really interesting if Waluigi played a bigger antagonistic role and really showed the fact that he is Luigi's rival, maybe he has teamed up with King Buu. To get back at Luigi, maybe you could get him to be the one who gave King Buu the knowledge of the Dark Moon towards the end of the game. Waluigi could even kidnap EAD, which could lead to the final boss fight somehow with Luigi fighting to save both of them. Mario and EAD, a cool idea for a boss could be King Buu and while Luigi combines his forces by making King Buu possess him, turning the boss into some sort of new character possessed by Waluigi would be really awesome if after beating him, the king Buu turning on Waluigi and putting him in a painting may not be like that too so you have to rescue him now also those are most of the ideas I have for adding Waluigi to Dark Moon in general.
I think having Waluigi be a threatening antagonist to Luigi is something that would be great to see, I mean, after all, Mario and Wario fought in their first meeting, but Luigi and Waluigi never do the same thing. Let's keep this Luigi game going with Luigi's Mansion 3 for Nintendo Switch. Honestly, there's not much I really want to change about this. The game is a pretty solid entry in the Luigi's Mansion series and probably my favorite as well. Guigi was also a fun new edition. I enjoyed using it to solve various puzzles and it was quite charming for a Luigi-shaped pile of goo that he also used in The.
The game's cooperative mode in which the second player takes full control over him, plays practically identical to Luigi, but also has slight differences from him. He has a fairly small amount of health, so he can die quite easily, but can respawn and heal infinitely. Being made of goo, he can also access areas that Luigi cannot, as he can pass through things like spikes and grates, although he will melt if he touches water and disintegrate when he touches fire. I like Guigi, he is a little more active. the soft side for me, he doesn't talk at all or have any defining character traits so for the most part what you see is what you get, he's a carbon copy of Luigi and a bit boring, now you know that I would have done that.
It's been really interesting to see Waluigi as a player, let's just say for the sake of this hypothetical Waluigi had previously appeared in Dark Moon as an antagonist and now appears in the third game as a supporting character on Luigi's side, it's a little hard to think of a which is why these two would work together again, but I think something occurs to me, maybe the Mario Bros lost a bet with Wario and Waluigi and now I have to take them on an expensive vacation while on their trip King Buu appears and puts everyone looks like the original, everyone except Luigi and Waluigi, forcing the unlikely duo to work together for once and from there the game plays out as usual, although I'm happy with the final product we received.
It would have been great to have Waluigi as a player as well. In this adventure, all you have to do is give him his own pter gust and then he could play identically to Luigi, although I suppose now we would miss out on the fun tricks that Guigi offers, such as passing through objects and the weakness to water. In one of the most recent entries, Super Mario Bros Wonder for Nintendo Switch, this is a pretty similar case to the new Super Mario Bros games. When I first heard about the announcement of this game, I was really hoping that Wario and Waluigi could be playable characters.
I once thought Wario might have had a better chance of making it, since he's honestly a more important character than Waluigi, but in the end I still had hope for the poor purple guy, even though there were a good handful of new playable characters, including Daisy's debut. first time as a playable character in a main Mario title. Wario and Waluigi didn't end up making the cut, it's disappointing but somewhat expected at this point, maybe one day these two will get their time to shine together on a continent. Mario title and that's it. Now I've reviewed Mario's story and picked out points where I think Waluigi had the potential to shine.
It's really a shame that Nintendo doesn't use them more often. I always liked this crazy character and wondered what the official Waluigi game would look like, although I can't say that his design is super original, since it's been done almost three times before. I always wanted to see Nintendo do something more with the character, maybe make him more than just a spin-off character. In exploring something about him before finishing the video, I wanted to briefly highlight two fan games as honorable mentions that actually feature Waluigi as a playable character. The first is Super Mario Bros and Midas Machine from the Midas team, for now there is only one demo. available to play, but what's here is pretty interesting: the game sees Mario Luigi Wario and Waluigi teaming up to stop Bowser and Captain Syrup, who are also joining forces to turn the Mushroom Kingdom to gold with the titular bidas machine, while each character plays the same.
For the most part, each has its own strengths and weaknesses, as well as a special ability. Each Mario can wall jump and has the most complete stats and Luigi has a special high jump similar to the one featured in Super Mario Bros 2. Wario plays quite similar to how he did in the war and being able to carry and pick up enemies you can't run but when you get a fire flower instead of changing the color of your clothes you get the warri land dragon hat which plays like how you did in that game in fact the fire flow seems to work slightly different for each character, plus with Mario they work as usual, with Luigi they fly in a straight line and with Waluigi they are shot at an upward angle.
Waluigi is the fastest character with his special ability to lose weight, to be honest this whole idea seems a bit far-fetched, it's hard to imagine how much this ability could be applied throughout the game without it feeling forced, but I'll give it a thumbs up. some slack to the developer as long as Luigi doesn't do it. Honestly, I have a lot to work with, so I'm sure you guys have come up with the best idea you can think of right now. If you know anything about Mario fan games, you may have seen this one coming. It's Psycho Waluigi from Thunder Dragon, once again.
Fans are rooting for Waluigi, but this time in a big way - given that the guy has his own fully developed fan game, this is actually a surprisingly well-made experience that creates a whole new spin on the traditional Mario formula, similar to like Wario did with Wario Land. This game looks like it could be an officially licensed Nintendo product because of how well made it is. I really can't believe they didn't do anything like this in this game where you play as Waluigi on a new adventure through the world of Anania across the world. In the game, you make use of Waluigi's new psychic powers given to him by a being known only as Psycho Iris, using said powers to collect coins, block enemies, and anything else in your path to forcefully take over this new land. .
I'm not going. very deep into the game right now, but if you have the time to give this completely free game a try, I highly recommend you do so and experience it for yourself, that'spretty much everything I wanted to talk about, we covered a lot here today and I want to thank you for sticking around if you've made it this far in the video, if you're a fellow Waluigi fan and want to see the guy debut in a mainline Mario title, hit that Me button like and subscribe in the meantime. to go finish playing psycho Waluigi I hope you enjoyed the video see you next time
