They've gone TOO FAR! PS5 Update

May 09, 2024
How are you all doing? As always, my name is Jimmy Champagne, this is my PS channel, all about PlayStation in today's video. I have three cool topics for you, one of them is a problem my PS5 is having, but after researching it, it seems. Like a lot of launch ps5s have this problem so I'm going to tell you how to fix it, we're going to talk about this new $130 game and how game prices in general are getting absolutely ridiculous and finally I'm going to go over some of the physical games that I did this week, that's a new segment that I'm going to try and see what you guys think, think real quick.

I just checked and I like that 85% of people who watch this channel do. I'm not subscribed so it would really help me if you would check to see if you are subscribed and if you are not, check if you are. I'm very close to 200,000 subscribers and I'd love to get there first. I want to talk about this topic that I've been dealing with the PS5, so lately I've usually been playing on my PS5 slim here in the basement. I just like the atmosphere down here. I set it up as my little cave, but my brother has been staying at my house. for the past week and I wanted to play some Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, so I've been using the PS5 above, which is a launch edition disc model of the PlayStation 5.

More Interesting Facts About,

they ve gone too far ps5 update...

Lately I've been trying to buy more physical games because I just had I have a strong feeling that

they

are going to disappear. I'll talk more about this later in the video, but I was at Target yesterday and man, the gaming section was absolutely abysmal,

they

had like three or four games and it was just It's a shame, but my copy of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is digital and The problem I have been facing is that the Wi-Fi chip in my ps5 has been acting very strange when I moved into this house last year. The first thing I did was configure the Internet.

I got fiber from AT&T, so it's like a gig with ups and downs, and then I got two of their smart home extenders that actually do a very good job of ensuring I get at least 6 to 800 up and down anywhere within my house that I practically had. There were no problems with it, but when I first set it up, my PS5 kept disconnecting from the network several times, so I looked online and found that if you go into the internet settings and go into the advanced settings for that actual connection, You can prioritize 5GHz instead of 2.4GHz or auto, so I did that and since then, over the last year, I've never had much trouble, but lately I've had a problem with my PS5, my launch model, up. keeps disconnecting from the internet and it's becoming a real problem with digital games because with Final Fantasy Rebirth I'll be playing it and then it'll say "Hey, you're disconnected from the PlayStation Network." We cannot verify the license of this game.

It will close in 5 minutes so save your progress and this has happened to me at the worst times, like at least three or four times in the past week where I'll be in a long cutscene. I'll be in one of those sequences where if you press the start button it just gives you a pause instead of allowing you to save and I've actually lost progress in the game up to 20 or 30 minutes which is frustrating, like it's nothing against the game, but it's an extremely long game, so backtracking is a really frustrating experience. I've tried a bunch of things to fix this issue and I also restarted my PS5 from cold, as in completely restarting it, not just putting it to sleep and turning it back on.
I turned it off completely, unplugged it to restart it, and plugged it back in. I tried resetting my internet using the AT&T app to turn it off and restart it, and it even came here. I unplugged the router, plugged it back in, made sure to unplug the smart home extenders, plugged them back in, the network worked again and that's where I had the best luck, I'd say it works again for an hour or two but it always comes back and the strange thing is that my PS5 slim doesn't have this problem at all and all the other devices on my network don't have this problem so I'm really getting to the point that this is a problem. with the PlayStation 5 I went to my favorite place to get tech support, the PlayStation 5 subreddit, and I was honestly surprised how many people are having this problem and it's not just with these home setups, Xfinity people, Spectrum people, people from Verizon, people from even starlink are having this problem and luckily I was able to find a solution that mostly works but after a while of putting my PS5 in and out of sleep mode the problem is really coming back and it's getting really frustrating but the solution is just completely erase that internet connection so your home wifi network and then restart it from scratch go to advanced settings set it to prefer 5GHz and also set your DNS settings to manual and do 8.8.8.8 and then on the backup do 8.8.4.4 and that should fix it for about a week but then the problem comes back and it's getting extremely frustrating so I think my next step is to use my PlayStation Stars status and connect with support Sony and try to solve this problem. fixed I really hope they do it for free but I'm honestly a little worried because my PS5 is obviously 4 years old and that means it's completely out of warranty and this problem happened with my PS4 Pro and when I tried to fix it and they said yes it would be 115 dollars , which is like at that point in the generation I wasn't going to pay for it and unfortunately I'm in a similar situation because I have two ps5s so I could just move my PS5 slim up instead of spending over $100 or I could just wait for the PS Pro which I always intended to replace the TV above with when it comes out later this year.
The network problem is certainly annoying, but the real annoyance. It all comes down to license verification on the PS5. I really don't understand why it is so aggressive that every time you play it periodically checks if you have the license. To me, that's absolutely ridiculous, there's no reason why it should. I'll be checking to see if I have the license, if it's set up for my main PS5 and I can access PlayStation Network because at that point there's no way I could have pirated the game like you shouldn't be able to just lose the right. to a $70 single player game, like it isn't, it has no online features, it's not Destiny 2, it doesn't have anti-che or anything, it has virtually no multiplayer and first of all, there is no reason to connect to the Internet.
I think at most the PS5 should check this once a month, review all of its entitlements and make sure everything is up to par. I think at most the PS5 should check its rights once a month, if that's the case there's virtually no reason it can do that. I see how aggressive I am about it and it's at a point where it's degrading my experience with the console, which I honestly find completely unacceptable, especially considering this is a single-player game with no online services. and without multiplayer mode. I literally couldn't hack it if I did. Try it Honestly though the timing of this couldn't be better because I talked about how I had given up and just bought more digital games and rightfully so I got criticized in the comments and I was like, yeah, why am I buying digital games?
It brought me back to college when I was saving all the money I made by flipping paper in the computer lab and going to GameStop with the last of the gas in the tank and buying a new PS4 game. It was really like the icing on the cake at the end of the week and then I installed it on my PS4, installed it and played it. I just did that with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. I'll talk about it again later and I had that same warm fuzzy feeling. I went back to college when I went to Target yesterday, I bought Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
I got home, put it in my PS 5, waited for it to install, and it felt weirdly cool to just take it out and put it in. dis 2 to play the game, I thought, man, this is amazing. I really hope physical games don't go away because as this issue and many others present, these companies are not ready to support an all-digital console, I mean Xbox, maybe not. I don't really care about that ecosystem if I'm honest, but when it comes to PlayStation, they should really make sure that any console they sell in the future has a disc drive because if you come across experiences like this, honestly, it just kills the vibe of wanting to sit down and play some games after a long day of work, like I don't want to have to troubleshoot internet issues so I can play a single-player game that I bought for $70 and I don't think many other people If anyone would really think Otherwise, that brings us to our second news story here, which is another thing that I think needs to be addressed and that is the pricing of some of these new games that are coming out, so all of this controversy is around Star Wars Outlaws and in On the surface it's not that hard to understand why this game is controversial since it's from Ubisoft and I don't think I'm going to upset anyone by saying that it's completely fallen off in recent years. like they were on a hot streak, they liked Assassin's Creed Valhalla and then it just completely fell off and they haven't had a hit game in a long time despite releasing quite a few games, like just last year we had the team's engine fest. we have Assassin's Creed Mirage, we have Prince of Persia the Lost Crown and Avatar Frontiers of Pandora and I don't think any of those games reach the level that Ubisoft wanted outside of maybe and that's maybe a difficult Assassin's Creed Mirage, which was to be advertised as a return to form for the series, but it actually ended up being a DLC for Valhalla that they extended and fluffed up a bit and you know from everyone I've talked to, including my friend Jake Baldino, that's just not the case.
It sounds like a really good game, but if you didn't know, I'm a huge Star Wars fan. I have been my whole life and I even have to be honest and say that I've gotten to the point where I need to be shown something really good to reignite my fandom. I was totally invested in the Boba Fett book. It was disappointing that The Mandalorian season 3 did some interesting things with the story, except that I didn't like that they replaced the character I thought, Jedi. Survivor was great, but the whole release strategy with that game was that they released it 60% and it took over a year to get it working properly on the PS5, which really made me bitter because it's one of the biggest IPs in the world. and from the first Star Wars Outlaws trailer something just didn't seem right to me I love seeing things like job of the Hut I love that it's like an outlaw game where you're like a scoundrel and all that I don't like that you can't create your own character in an open world RPG and I know there is a lot of controversy over what the main character looks like and I have definitely noticed the trend that everyone is complaining about.
I don't know if it's just a coincidence. that all of this is aligned, but for every game like that where the main character is, quote, ugly, you are forced to play, since there are many other games that are not like that, like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, like Tifa and Aith. Well I'm going to be honest and there is something weird about the voice acting in Outlaws that makes it not seem like Star Wars to me like the main character, the dialogue, the way he talks, it just feels like someone was taken away . real life and put them in a video game and it's not really selling that Star Wars Vibe, but something in that game just doesn't work for me and obviously I'd love to be wrong.
I'll try it when it comes out but the other two controversies with this game that seem to be the tip of the iceberg are that you need an internet connection to install it despite purchasing a disc for the game which is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion and then the other controversy. is that the price of the game is absolutely insane, so just getting the base model of the game costs 70 bucks. I don't really have a problem with that, yeah, it sucks that they increased the price of the games by $10 and did it. I didn't maintain the quality to match that new price and that's really because they were playing catch up on game prices effectively to recoup their budgets but that's not my problem but there are two other additions to the game and yes If you want everything the game has to offer, you'll pay $130, not double the price of a last-gen game, not double the price of a current-gen game, but you'll pay somewhere in between, $130, you get two cosmetic packs and Yeah, I don't really care that they're charging for it on the one hand, but on the other hand, we used to be able to earn these things in games and I wish we could go back to that, selling skins is just stupid. a single player game and of course tried and true if you buy the definitive edition you can play the game 3 days early and yes there are some benefits like getting the season pass without discount it's strange and then you can also play. the game 3 days early, which I guess is cool, but like thatit should be the actual release date of the game, if it's ready to come out 3 days earlier than what they give as the actual release date, it should be released for everyone.
Who is buying the game for $70? I just don't like this atmosphere that has been created where because I don't pay double the price of a full price game I am effectively punished and have to wait 3 more days to get it. started in this game which once again is not free and costs $70 and a season pass is pre-sold. I know it's like a classic PR practice. I still feel a little weird about it because we don't know what these DLCs will be. They don't know how big they're going to be, they say the value will be there and you just have to take their word for it, but like they really haven't had the best track record lately. even with making a quality product at launch, so I definitely don't trust them to have a quality DLC offering every time those expansions come out and I've seen people say, well, you can't really fault them for needing a connection to the internet to install the game because like everyone does, why are you mad at Ubisoft?
It's like I'm mad at Ubisoft and I'm mad at everyone else because that practice is really stupid, like if I'm buying a physical disc the whole game should just be on the disk but yeah I'm a little excited here I think It's for the right reasons, so I hope you understand. I want to round out this video with something positive, which is my new physical games, so I was at Target yesterday. I decided to check out the video game section to pick up Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth because of that digital issue I've been having on PlayStation 5 and I'm very happy with the quality of this physical release.
I know it's like a record in a case. but you open it, oh, it fell. I know it's like a record in a case, but you open it and you're immediately greeted with two records, which is amazing. I think it's a really cool practice, they have cool art like you. I have Cloud jumping with the Buster sword, which is actually after-art for the game, which I think is cool. I have the first disk up on my PS5 because I was installing it after installing it down here on my Slim. I love this. slogan challenge Destiny together.
I think it's really cool and something awesome about the Square NX games is that you actually get a reversible cover that matches other artwork in the series, which I think is cool, and then there's something else that surprised me as I read it. you get. little inserts that are a thing of the past these days this is just an advertisement to reserve as collectibles in the original soundtrack of the game that I'm going to buy because the soundtrack is very good but I just like to get little pieces of paper on there that advertise upcoming games and upcoming products because it reminds me of when I was a kid and you would actually get a whole manual for the game and I would take them to grade school and read them like Halo 2 back in the day. that day so yeah it's cool and then Target was running a promotion where if you spent $80 you got a $15 gift card so I decided to check out the PS5 pital section and saw that Final Fantasy 16 was down to 45 dollars there.
I own this game digitally, but again, due to the issue I've had where games tear up while playing them, if they're digital, I thought I'd pick a game I really want to get back to physically and once again, great quality product from Square Enx , it's not on two discs. I don't think it has to be, but it also has a reversible cover. Again I like the cover art that comes with the actual record you get in the store. classic Final Fantasy style art so I think I'll leave it at that and I think it's cool that Square NX puts slogans on the back of the games like destiny is written in fire, that's kind of like the 90s for me or the early 2000s so I think that's a cool detail and then this one also has inserts so there's a little ad for Final Fantasy 14 that I just downloaded.
I said earlier in the video that I'm excited to try it. We're announcing the Heaven Sword expansion and then of course you get the other little insert for the square that's collateral, which is great, it's great to have little paper inserts in the games and finally I wanted to complete the collection with Final Fantasy 7, my only remake. The complaint is that this is only physically available on PS4, so it has to sit with the other two on my shelf with a PS4 box, but the nice thing is that this is a two-disc game once again, so we get the first disk, we get the second disk. classic, it looks like the PS1 disc of yesteryear, the cover is a complete remake of the PS1 disc which I think is awesome and just like the Final Fantasy 7 revival you get the reversible cover which is black with the Final Fantasy 7 remake logo. uh, I also got an insert here.
I got some Square NX member reward points, which is another ad just for some figures from the game that I'm going to buy again because I'm so in love with this universe and once again, there's a cool slogan on the back that It says that the legend returns for all generations. I was able to get it on eBay for $15 which I think is a fair price even though it's on extra ps+ and I'm excited. to put them right next to the last of us part one and part two on my shelf in my favorite games section so yeah those are my physical picks for the week let me know what you grab in the comments below and also let me know yes Anyway, you want me to continue this physical pickup series guys, that's all I have for you today, as always, my name is Jimmy Champagne.
I'll see you next time thanks for watching and shaping.
