Was This The Real Reason DeAndre Hopkins Left Houston?Mar 20, 2020
but every time we find out the other day that DeAndre Hopkins is one of the best wide receivers in the game, it's not like he's a top 10 receiver, it's like
thisguy is in the conversation about who's the best wide receiver. in soccer now. you can't pick which wide receiver is the best wide receiver in football because not everyone can have the same quarterback throwing the ball to them and if you're in a position where you can only be an impact when someone else chooses to give you the ball or how they give you the ball.
It's hard to say that
thisperson is the best wide receiver in the game, but I knew he would be a part of those conversations no matter how it happened. This guy just made plays that you're not supposed to make his hands the size of a catcher's mitts, I mean he goes up and gets it and then comes the story about his mom and all of last year and you just say that you're like man this is a guy that's a guy this is a guy you want on your our team then the videos from training camp when he was at Hard Knocks and he talked to DeAngelo Hall Hall air and he was like Daddy DeAngelo yeah yeah yeah DeAngelo Hall was like giving him a pat on the shoulder when he was on the Redskins and the nuke was on the Texans name Penniman so he's like "hey trying to teach him on DeAndre Hopkins is like don't paint right "Are you and I on the same level as you?
You're not teaching me things, it's okay, I don't care if you're older." than me, that's not how it's going to work out anyway, as DeAndre Hopkins is a competitive guy, he always seems to show up and make big plays, so any time you hear that the Texans are going to trade him for a second round pick in a court in a corridor that hasn't been the same for a couple of years, it was very interesting and then the immediate thought of everyone here because you know, to have a little bit of an inside look at the way the NFL worked because humans are involved in this there had to be a person everyone said but nothing had leaked so this morning when Michael Irvin was up who by the way yelled at Greenie in the outfit team that they were still putting together a show, they had people facetiming. from their rooms which we'll judge against a little backdrop of everyone here and in the next hour and a half or so but they're still putting on a show that I appreciate because they're entertaining the masses at certain times that are but they're they had an interview with Michael Irvin this morning calling us from what could have been a basement of a YMCA or a church and this is what he had to say about DeAndre Hopkins and Billy O'Brien.
He couldn't stop thinking about it. he called him again 24 hours later like yesterday afternoon and then he was ready to talk more and I told him to tell me what happened in Houston and he walked in he told me that Michael said there was a little power struggle there because Bill O. 'Brien's coach, O'Brien, thought he had too much of his locker room influence called DeAndre Hopkins in a meeting to talk about it in the guy's discussion at that meeting. He started the meeting by telling DeAndre Hopkins that this blew my mind. Andrew told me this.
He said that he he told me at
hopkinshe said it was the last time he had to have a meeting like this it was with aaron for many days what he put in this meeting he said yes he did he said michael he blew my mind and he would even bring that up i have never been in trouble I don't know why I would get acquainted with Aaron Hernandez and from there the meeting just deteriorated you know he got into talking about DeAndre Hopkins being underwater he has some kids and and from different different different women and he said you know he told DeAndre who doesn't like that he sometimes has his baby mamas around and so I think the relationship just went wrong and we got a train from DeAndre Hopkins from Houston so basically I couldn't take that guy breathing who ever reported that we thank you for putting that video but that I was Alma I was almost going crazy if you are listening there nobody in this office was breathing into the microphone so I don't know everything I almost know i felt worse than hearing that like reaper peppers but i couldn't take that guy breathing right into that thing but the things that michael irvin was saying in there that told
hopkinsby the way i have no idea if
deandrehopkins wanted to for the information to be released.
I'll be excited to see if there's a rebuttal from either side on this because this is pretty cool, okay, so now we know exactly why DeAndre Hopkins, one of the best players in the game, was pushed out. Houston for a second round pick and David Johnson and they had to trade their picks the same thing so I think what gets forgotten and I talk about this on a lot of different occasions some players are not going to play their best every day because it's not a video game, right? Not all players are at 99 every day like if the rating is 96 97 or 76 or 77 some days at 76 77 might show up at 98 on some days that 98 might show up as a 76 because in
reallife you have emotions you have feelings you have egos you have pride and there's always a situation brewing every time you have a lot of bravado a lot of egos in a lot of success where people can stumble I feel like I've been in a situation like this.
The general manager I worked for at the end of my career didn't want me. He was so obvious and to be honest I hated going to work to perform in those situations. The fact that DeAndre Hopkins definitely didn't get along with Billy O'Brien, the fact that he's telling Michael Irvin this story to begin with is already a sign that he doesn't love Bill O'Brien and obviously Bill O'Brien. 'Brien traded one of the best wide receivers. in the game for a second round pick that does not love DeAndre Hopkins these are things that definitely happen more often than people might imagine people said it happened between Belichick and Tom people said it happened between Antonio Brown and Ben Roethlisberger, the emotions are
real, especially at a very high level, so I'm happy for DeAndre Hopkins to get to a place where he looks like he's going to enjoy himself.
I guess if Kliff Kingsbury and Steve are going to spend the time, you know, to get him on the roster, that's a place that's going to take him. He's going to like me to bring his family, which is crazy for Bill O'Brien to say dude, he doesn't like his baby's mommies, right? may the drama be better i mean there's just a couple things in there we have to assume maybe there's a middle ground here between the truth and what was said but i'm happy for both if this is going to clear it up but for DeAndre Hopkins even more so he has a chance to go and prosper and hopefully like him because it's obviously going to feel better for him every day he's out there.
There has been an update on the DeAndre Hopkins situation. Here we go, he just tweeted. this is being blown out of proportion as i said before i enjoyed and am proud of my time with the texans. I have the utmost respect for Coach O'Brien and that will change now. I'm ready to play. the cardinals agree so like we said every time we were reading michael irvin's we're hearing michael irvin's statement since he got up this morning there was no way deandre hopkins wanted that message out he would have done it himself michael Irvin I guess I was trying to deliver for DeAndre Hopkins and in turn because there's no live sports and nothing else happened there was a firestorm as soon as Michael Irvin said this rise is when we see rise every morning, by the way Mike Greenberg is the weapon that gets a ch I get to work there and watch him work on the people behind the scenes and everything it's a good show like them they are a good show and we watch it every morning as soon as Michael Irvin said that from his face.
I literally stopped I stopped those like what Michael Irvin just said and then Connor yelled on top of it as Michael Irvin was saying it again so we had to rewind and watch it again and as soon as I heard it there I was like oh , this is this. it's the story this is what we're talking about today this is going to be it I knew it's a big deal because we're going to be a big deal because every time you have this elite level player being treated in a way that you don't think so that an elite player should be treated and you hear stories like this and especially now that Albright Benjamin has come out or Benjamin Albright just tweeted that a free agent cornerback who could be targeted by the Texans has decided he won't go to the Texans because of what he heard about coach Bill O'Brien from former Texans defensemen so Bill O'Brien now his name is getting into an interesting place right now with this John Drew Hopkins thing and of course certain.
DeAndre Hopkins responding to this is doing Bill O'Brien a huge favor because DeAndre Hopkins could have said fuck that this guy just traded me for a second round or he thinks I'm worth a second round but I said I'm going . Defending Bill O'Brien is good. I'm still not sure that would stop people from wanting to sign with the Texans instead of going elsewhere.
