Vikings React to: Assassin's Creed Valhalla - TrailerJun 09, 2021
well, then as also in the middle of the rate of how the woman with her son likes the stops that she would like to let them go it was like easily getting out word not like we weren't here for this to get him to get away I really enjoy it because it's right from the start principle you know it's not the
vikingswhat we exactly know hey youtube welcome back to our channel my name is Elena I'm Bueller and those
reactwhere we take a look at some of your favorite viking shows and discuss their historical accuracy today we are looking at the new Assassin's Creed
trailerthis just came out like today Fred from when we were shooting brand new I'm conflicted going into this I've been like trying not to see anything I've been seeing pop up everywhere because everyone's gone crazy over it, for better and for worse.
I've played a few of the Atanas Creed games, not all of them because they became obsolete for me, but then I also heard that there was like a great Asian revival of the games a Then after I stopped playing I heard that they like to be again good. They've always had this really interesting concept for a similar story of intercutting their own subtle little things here and there to rewrite the story but in the same way. this along the same threads to make sure the story ran its course which is supposed to be an interesting concept for sure its a really cool style of play and i like how they tell a story to this day.
I've also seen how they've been collaborating with Your Vaquita Newseum and Katya Don who is amazing musician and also Dr. Jason Crawford who is spectacular so I'm very hopeful on that but also scared to wait. I have a feeling that all of that collaboration will come more in game content and I'm sure that's what we want. I see in the
trailer, but I'm very interested in saying the least about the perspective of the story, yes, the thing is that because I remember that you told me today that dr. Jackson Crawford was kind of a collaboration with the creators of the game but just huge he's absolutely amazing because he's an amazing historian he knows a lot about viking age lore but where he's coming from is he studies the writings he studies the histories essentially , so he knows the sagas, he knows the mythology, he knows he basically translated a little bit himself, but he doesn't specifically study the viking age from the perspective of an archaeologist, an archaeologist, yeah, so I think he may be right from the perspective of the story to which it is linked. this game probably means the story is going to be pretty accurate or is it accurate they allowed it to be open ended but from a visual perspective one question remains yeah I still have a little bit of hope for some of the things that fit like that because someone to who I follow in passing has said that he was working on his Museum of the Lake and the team in the hoop is often.
In fact, I comment on how to interview people in the museum. I'm about the Vikings so I don't know if that was just about the story about the clothes and the living look. I have no idea, so we'll find out. I guess that's very fair, so I'm just going to say this. right now it's nothing viking related so i'd like to get it off my system the graphics look amazing they look so good the game looks beautiful and i'm thinking the game itself probably won't be that beautiful but you would surprise me i think ok i'll show you the most recent one i have i'll show you that kiss it's not that quality of course but it's still pretty good no i know and that's mostly because i like it . the actual game engine yeah yeah exactly because there will be a give and take but i mean gay men these days are getting a lot better too yeah i mean repurposing them for actual photographic representations now thats true, all the lands of England will. never defend never love the time has come they will understand that It was so cool that Alfred said they knew they were breeders and raiders, that they were like all the stereotypes we always hear, the vikings and the dirty Bru barbarians who didn't care about anything like humanity or life or innocence and then show the scenes. with like the children playing and like the village and you know the simulated battles near the farm where dad like oh you don't have me well then like also in the middle of the rate like the woman with her son likes so that she would like like to leave them going is like going out we're not like we're not here for this getting it escape um i really enjoy it because it's right from the start you know it's not the vikings we know exactly exactly how of course they were raiders and they were warriors something like that , obviously, but there was another side to them as well, they weren't just this constant brute heathen that you normally see that kind of thing, yeah, basically doing a one-on-one thing and I love the way they figured that out early that they proved that they were , that the atmosphere in the game was amazing, so I want to play this, so I'm going to book it, um, I'm like watching, I'm remembering why I got into Assassin's Creed. first of all i'm kind of seeing so many like a little bit like slashes like combo moves and all kinds of counters and like a little bit like attacks and stuff that got me into that which was kind of groundbreaking when it first came out um i wanted to go back to play all the games they quickly went over which was pretty cool.
I saw a lot of people who just complained about what is historical and I felt that way. I think I like the environment. like the town of villages and stuff it looked pretty interesting yeah i thought it looked pretty solid from the quick glances we got i mean the armor is always going to be armored the amount of skin everywhere yeah like oh the main character I thought he was like highways best friend growing up like what was he right now ragnarson oh yeah actually he looks good oh yeah he was trying to play with the beard and hair and even like skin and they're not how it seemed right oh right um that was really funny to me um but yeah they definitely just know kind of copy pasted the shows a little bit yeah absolutely definitely got inspired in that, like there was a cut of like the woman who was doing something ceremonial like blood with the horned headdress and we just don't have any information on that so that's what's against the liberties here but in general it's good look at what i saw the guy he was fighting yeah that was like he was there so that's something i wanted to bring up in terms of what are you doing is like a romance yeah something like an anglo roman legionary like remains of the Roman occupation of England out of a hundred ads like yeah ok that makes sense i guess i even had the like the helmet but then like but then like with that roman helmet it had been a faceplate with an English accent like from Sutton Hoo it's like from that vandalism period yes and then as the red cape, which was also the reclip, it has been like a scale mail and those things too and it is as if all this did not make sense.
I'm glad they killed him, maybe we can't see it, yeah, maybe he just got it out of his system and we won't have to see it, but yeah, that part was the one that didn't make sense. I'm glad he's dead, yeah, me too, some of the close-ups like the weapons and armor and things like that, not so much, there was a shot when he was, you know, with the guy with the ax that he had killed his friend and as if that ax was nothing historical, it was huge and clumsy and had this strange cap. that and stuff that was almost like someone had taken like a palm cap from like a later pe Riod sort I just put it on top of an ax because they could and obviously liked it a lot like leather issues just because the armor didn't it was all there, like people wanted to make leather armor, so I don't know. something that doesn't look like a bunch of straps all over the place yeah i mean the thing about leather armor is we don't know about it you know if they had heard of it or not we just never found it yeah we have which kind of running assuming they probably didn't have it but at the same time they might have yeah and that's the problem with a similar reenactment in living history and our killer didn't do that because leather fines don't survive well in graves only in similar ideal situations, do they really survive to the present day?
So even if they had leather armor, which would hypothetically make a lot of sense because they had a lot of leather and they could easily have gone through this to make hardened leather armor and they were like that, so even if they did, which it's very plausible we have no way of knowing how to represent it because we have nothing to base it on so like anything it's going to be a modern interpretation of something that might have existed yes and us and because of that it's always going to be unpredictable and always guest material until we find something substantial that ever honestly I mean the only leather armor illusion we have is you know in the Ragnar Ragnar Lodbrok saga yeah yeah but the hairy knickers because those were, you know, if he liked it and yes or if it was made if he wore them yeah hurry up yeah I mean yeah so he got the by name or he got the name lothbrok I mean Harry got startled by him pants that he specifically wore, so they weren't, you know, your typical linen or wool that you normally wear, they were leather and they weren't just leather, but they hid in the pants like they still had the skin on them.
In the saga of Ragnar, the story goes that he wanted to win the hand in marriage of the daughter of a Swedish king and to do so he had to kill two poisonous snakes that guarded his residence and put on these furry pants. in fact, he jumped into a frozen lake to try to shore up the material to make it harder that way if the snakes bit his legs, at least he wouldn't die because they couldn't get through the leather. to get to her legs essentially and he did and he won her heart doing that and he married her and she was actually the one who gave birth to, you know, Sugar Snake in the I um Ivar the boneless she was she was his mother, but then you too i know there is a story of radner's death where he was thrown into the snake pit and for a while there the snakes bit him but he wasn't dying until due to his hobby he just had to take it out and take it . those pants off of him and then throwing it back in b because he wasn't dying when he was supposed to yeah and then he did after that yeah so that's one of the only examples really yeah the only example we have of leather being used as armor in quotes yes there and there is very little else i think there is an example of a gift given to a weekend king where is it literally described like a pair of shirts, are they like a pair of reindeer skin armor or something like really my Newt something like that? and we also have a gray find of similar clothing made of leather that was like a sealskin that was found a few years ago it was like a sealskin like a cape or pants or something we're not quite sure like leather the shards are really rare to find them as good quality and be able to say something like that specifically yes which is unfortunate because for all we know they could have had all the leather armor in the world yes they probably have been plentiful yes but just we don't know Oh yeah, exactly, it's hard and that's always risky, always a risky area when you're depicting a historical historical period, whether it's for entertainment or for education, it's always to be careful, you know, and it's better to err on the side of cautious. also, at least in my opinion, so it's always better to assume they didn't have it rather than misrepresent it and then just explain it away, anyway, as usual, you'll see they are, you know? exaggerations or their own interpretations with leather armor and furs and stuff like that, but like the few shots we got of them at home with the clothes and the buildings, it all looked cool, so I don't know, yeah, I I don't know why everyone is freaking out, we'll have to watch it again.
I guess a couple of times you're probably just going crazy for the Roman type, whether it was beautiful leather armor, yes there was that, but yes, like your po. int I like the little town scenes and stuff like we saw some nice grains and some pretty dresses and just your typical simplistic kind yeah and I like to get up yeah and also like skin and avian like spread oh yeah absolutely , the landscaping was amazing in that. Yes, beautiful. The boats look really good. Yes, the combat sequences are great. I love the little slow motion cuts to those classic Assassin's Creed battle sequences. that's like the little isolation we need like the two hits with the axe well letting his spear go through them like they slow down or stop almost like 300 style. iconic of the fighting in those games so i like watching them it just made me have all these flashbacks of like oh i need to play these games again oh i clearly need to spend more time on this beautiful thing um but no i'm a actually i'm very excited for what is going to be great,i want to play it yeah i want you to play it too and i want to play it too this will be great this will be really great i am so excited for these video games we need figure out how to do it we have to figure it out yeah but I'm excited and if that's what we're going to do I'm even more excited about the story and how they like to do it because so do you I know Alfred is there and some of the trees and things like that.
I guess it's Alfred. I think I saw this name scrawled on there. This is also the boss of like the big heat, the army or something. dude deal great stage for it honestly you know i'm can't wait this is going to be so good this is going to be great um what a great day to be a viking what a great time to be a viking there's so much out there really is this is great , more keep coming out and we are trying to keep up, thank you all so much for watching we hope you enjoyed it if you hit the like button if you need to relax and make sure to subscribe and hit next so you can be notified of future videos and we see you in the next
