something unless it's hot. Yeah, wouldn't it be great if I checked it out right now as a mom. So you got your big acting break a little later in life, which left plenty of room for some strange and unconventional jobs when you were working as a wildland firefighter.

Have you ever received a call that made you fear for your life? The fire made me. I was afraid for my life I was a terrible firefighter, I was soft as cotton candy and I didn't have to be a forest fighter, in fact the first call we got was a truck with the gas tank on fire, well he was a two-man team. It wasn't a big steak, he was pushing us closer to the fire and I was pushing us away from the fire and we formed a kind of teepee, we were doing a reverse tug of war with the hose and it was bigger and I won and we ended up getting a lot further away from the fire. fire and we tried to try to pray from about 50 meters away.

It was more like that. How many of these do you do per week? You know, we go weekly, so it's okay if we accumulate a bunch of episodes. then I'll have a couple of weeks of chills, but if the gas tank runs out, then I'll have to start stacking them like I found out yesterday mm-hmm, that's when people attack, let's get to the stacking, it's really the cross I bear for you. I know it's the grave I dug for myself oh, this is a girl's drawing. I appreciate you saying that, so the internet seems fascinated by that.

Oh, Sophie, and then you've talked in the past about how sometimes stories and Modern Family can mirror each other. your experience as a father in real life, so with that in mind, what I want to do is share some quotes of yours from other iconic TV dads. I'm curious if you think this is good or bad parenting advice. I'm terrible. Person to ask about parenting advice, but let's see how it goes, yeah, let's do it. This first one is Homer Simpson advising Lisa, if you don't like your job, don't go on strike, just come in every day and do it halfway.
I guess it's the American way, it's the American way I guess it's, I mean, it's Homer Simpson, it's got to be good advice. The next one is from Uncle Phil from the Fresh Prince of Bel-air. To be a good friend you have to risk losing a good friend, I would agree with that but I am very afraid of conflict but I don't know if I have ever challenged any of my good friends so I don't know if I can be right up there with that, but I would agree with that in Theory, you don't necessarily have to be that person to deal the game, that's right, exactly.
I'd like to do what I say and not what I do, and this last one is from Phil Dunphy. The most incredible things that can happen. It will happen to a human being if you simply lower your expectations. I have loved many levels lower expectations levels where are your expectations today? My expectation today is that it's going to hurt and tomorrow we're just from the Bronx. I'm taking it from the BX, so as we mentioned in your intro, you're the host of a food-focused podcast and then his wife Holly. I know she is a pastry chef.
Does she know how, if anything, it has changed her perspective on food because she has described himself as lawless? animal when it comes to

we couldn't be more different the good thing about having the palate of a goat is that everything she does is great and then I know you own a couple of bars in Salt Lake City, what was the biggest obstacle you had to go through and get a liquor license because from what I understand there are some weird rules and YouTube, yeah well they've actually gotten better in the past, you have to do all kinds of crazy things if you go all the way back to drink a glass. you couldn't do it in a bar, so they actually gave you the plane bottle and the mixer and you did it yourself, so they had memberships or you had to become a member to get into a club, so everyone I went into a bar I had to become a member who left it's very difficult to get a liquor license that in itself is very difficult someone smarter than me found a literal loophole which is that if there is a hole in the wall or a door, the place next door gets their liquor license so we rented the space next door, put a hole in the wall and there you go, Inessa and then for the uninitiated, can you explain the allure of fry sauce?
Well, the frying sauce is mayonnaise and ketchup, so that's it, it sounds a lot more exotic than it is, that's right, it's really good, it's really good, thanks for delivering, yeah, yeah, we know we had the laboratory endorsement, you know, it's like we're going with the miso base. Let's go with the Chipotle base. Let's go with a habanero. Well, then this. I actually have a question about sharing. My least favorite hot sauces have a lot of vinegar in them. Hmm, what are the other things that can preserve a hot sauce? It's hard, it's hard, but that's what keeps you going. okay you know you can do it with other options but sometimes you like that hot sauce has a really short shelf life so it's one of those things where you can find it or you can make it but I kind of have to like eating it with food or in a couple of weeks this would go bad, pretty good, oh yeah, that's the reserve.
You know, we're casting a wide net with today's interview, but fans would rebel if I didn't focus. on Modern Family for at least one way trip who's your favorite celebrity guest cameo favorite guest star one of them was very recently with Chris Martin who is the sweetest literally like where is he in your armor sweet too sweet too sweet yeah, What are you? Hiding, I thought he was going to try to steal the program from us for something. One of my long-time favorites was Edward Norton. We had done a play together and the show was probably in its second season, but he came in and played a very elaborate character.
We had to improvise a lot, it was a lot of fun, what did you learn working alongside Sarah Nolan Rico? Work ethic, really, the kids on the show, the kids on the show, in many ways, were more professional than the adults from the beginning because they were raised in that world, they knew all the rules, like the rules were more ingrained. in them that all the rules of the Union, they always came prepared, you know, adults depended on the schedule and the things you know, like in the different stages of life. preparation which cast member is most like their character in real life and that's it, yeah, and it's kind of an inspiring quality of no, I'm not going there, that's Ed's catchphrase, no, I won't be there, I'll stay at home what's hot in Hawaii the volcanoes with volcano in this I'm going to start sweating soon well I can't wait I know what's happening What do most people sweat?
Joey Coco Diez I thought maybe we'd lose him Tom Arnold I It was like, oh, that's what's going to kill the show. Well, I'll see you and see what I can do about it. So, we have a recurring segment on our show called Explain That, Graham, where we do a deep dive and I guess Instagram. I pulled up interesting images that need more context, but as we just talked about, I don't have an account, which just messes up our system, but we figured out a workaround. What we've done is pull out some of our favorite sports photos of Tibor, so I'll show you the photo, oh my gosh, okay, so this first one throwing out the first pitch of the Mets game, are you nervous about this?
Very, very, very nervous, probably more nervous than ever about something because I'm kind of a delusional athlete, I think I'm a better athlete than I am, so now it's time to step up, literally, no, no quite literally. I practiced and didn't throw a strike to the catcher who was a gentleman named John Buck, when it came in and went off target he ran out and caught it and made it look like it was just part of his normal run to the mound to compliment the nice little frames what do you get. He framed it exactly. He did a long time.
Franklin finished and then I pulled him and then he came out and shook my hand. What do you remember about playing on a high school basketball team that set an Oregon state record for most consecutive losses? The guy that was there the night we broke the streak was a professional weightlifter and he came in and gave a speech and said you guys can never quit, I've never quit and then when we were leaving he said, "I've never won." a single weightlifting tournament and we were running onto the court to try to break our record but somehow it worked out, I guess we thought we don't want to be that guy I like to work with on Instagram, that's good, yeah , I'm starting to really feel that mm-hmm yeah, so you said you went to grad school as a tactical means to avoid auditioning, that's true and then even though it's not digging ditches, acting can be difficult because you have to get comfortable.
With rejection a part of everyday life, do you remember your first television audition and, if so, was it the humiliating experience you always hoped or feared it would be? Yeah, it's funny you use that analogy because I always say it's not? It is necessary for the Dutchman to do it because I was actually interested. I did it for a few weeks when I was in high school and it was the worst job of my life, but the humiliation can be incredible. One of my first auditions. I had two weeks to work on this. He was using a British accent.
I do not do it. Particularly talented with accents, but I worked very hard on this accent and I sat in front of a large group of people who intimidated people and the casting director whispers in my ear, oh yeah, we're not using the accent, so I auditioned. trying to switch from a british accent to an american accent on the fly that sounded like i was having a stroke in front of all these people, it was like that's where you landed your mouth ma'am, i guess you didn't get it. the callback I made no, I didn't even have real eye contact on my way Asante

dawson's is almost a crisis, right, flirts with crisis, relates to crisis.
I agree, yes it's good, no, so I know you fell in love with Salt. Lake City almost 20 years ago is a place you, Holly and your children call finding home, but as a byproduct of Ashland Oregon, I know the Beaver State still holds a special place in your heart, so what I want to do is give you a There are several categories and you can tell me which state reigns in Utah or Oregon. That is, yes, national parks. Utah. Northern Utah is also amazing, but for very different reasons. Southern Utah is all you see in the 127 hours or so, but it's actually just an amazing place to spend time it's so easy to get to it's not like anything on earth that's like what I imagine Mars is like like the Sundance Film Festival or the Oregon Shakespeare Festival that's really hard I'll say the Oregon Shakespeare Festival because it's even more It's an anomaly like a crazier thing that the Shakespeare Festival ended up being so successful and I say that with the fact that I tried to get a job there forever and they never hired me, so how could it be like that?
They were smart enough to never hire me, so I think that puts them at the top of the list. Do you have an opinion on this whole self-service gas law in Oregon because it seems to be tearing the state apart? I think it's us trying to hold on to something that we feel makes us interesting this is like an idiosyncrasy it's like someone you know has his flip phone Clyde Drexler she just calls him Traxler that's not even close Malone is the biggest man in the world history of human life in falling for someone who blows him away like he's a failure or a little ahead of his time, way ahead of his time, but I mean, the guy couldn't have been bigger to be flying in chairs and constantly lying on the ground.
We had a real dislike. for Karl Malone in Oregon, this was your previous season, this one we can't move because he's the face melter, no, no, so if we take him out, I'd like to take him out like someone he's eaten about a hundred times. I took a big bite out of that guys, remember that time when yeah, oh boy, that's what gets real over the years, you've done more than your share of best-of lists dresses from the red carpet and I'm curious from the outside to see how Can you analyze the relationship between the celebrity and the stylist ofthe celebrity?
In other words, how much influence do you have over your fit at the Golden Globes and, more importantly, how much do you care? You know, I'm being 100% with us. I'm kind of a Dandy fan like I really like it. I don't want to be that guy. I'm actually from Oregon. I want to be like a man, but I'm simply NOT one. You want to be the flannel pulp, yeah. yes, even when I'm camping I think I should have thought too much. I need to learn sign language to take this one home. things that I feel like this should be put in some kind of capsule, the fuel, something like Elon Musk, this should be called Elon Musk, that hurts my lips, yeah, that makes my lips hurt mm-hmm, yeah, it's the first time hearing my teeth feel like my teeth hurt welcome to the club so hollywood has the reputation of being this dog eat place where you win but you seem to have a more solid disposition a more low key lifestyle and I'm curious to know how the good guy has actually served to help you in your career in la-la land and can you tell me a time when he's at? maybe it's a detriment.
I always try to reiterate that you work very hard and you will work if you are talented and work very hard, but there is a certain element of luck that measures your career, it is very difficult to think with the pain that is going through. through my face, um, for some reason, I never felt like I could control my career. I don't consider it as something of personality that I have made possible. I just feel lucky that I didn't feel that way. I think so. What works is when you have an opportunity, if you simply exceed the expectations of whoever gave you that opportunity, then you will have another opportunity.
I totally agree I totally agree It's not like that, it doesn't require all that other thinking, right, it's just that you're going to have opportunities and you're just going to have to throw yourself into them completely and you don't even have control over how well that thing works. This must be something great. All this spectacle for you, right?, is a glass. Glass half full, everyone has a problem, they just want the problem to be solved, so if you can solve that problem, yes they will keep giving you problems, solve it at the right time so that you win in the last one, so this is the last touch .
We call it the last touch because it is tradition around here to put a little more on the last wing. Okay, it's not necessary if you don't want to, but the bottles are already there, okay, so now I can feel myself sweating. It looks very good, although this is the first time I have to go back and look to see if I have touched my nose, but my nose hurts and I comfort myself. My nose hurts from untouched hot sauce, we really found your limits here I have. once that doesn't go, I mean, what is the extent of this in your ears? eventually it hurts people like my neck is stiff like my back hurts now the kids sleep well.
I haven't been there, but you know it's just a limit, it's not a health aid, it's not. That's not why we do this show, okay, ty, say hello to my man. Greetings, that's really good mm-hmm, he's very sexy mm-hmm. I'm not just saying that because he's your brand, but he also knows, you can taste it too. that's what we're trying to do, you did it right, well now that you've fought off ten scorching chicken

wings
