Trevor Noah's Mom Doesn't Care He's a Celebrity

My own podcast I thought twice about and it's available on luminary, I guess it's a computer, yeah, yeah, it's an app, it's an app, it's an app that has your podcasts and then you just enjoy, you know a lot about computers. I told you, I love, I love computers, I build them and all that, yeah, yeah, computers changed my life, so when I was really young, my mom came home with a computer one day and we didn't know what it was, nobody really had. like when they were new I think it was a Pentium 3 8 6 at the time running up to us and I remember my mom came home with it and left it and she was like here I said what is that and she said I don't know but apparently It's the future Wow and I said well how do we do it?

She said that's your job. She said you'll be further along than me. So imagine. How old were you at that time? I was probably 12 years old, yes, 11, 12 years old, what's the first thing you would do on that Pentium computer? We could literally all still, it occurred to me, remember the little dot would just blink, yeah. and then it would just type stuff and then it wouldn't do anything we would just type stuff and then I remember the day I typed dir and then I hit enter and then it showed me a bunch of files and then it just did that every day and I would scroll Scroll Scroll and then , one day I discovered that you could type T r /p, which meant per page, and then it stopped and my life changed.

How did your life change because you could see what was there? the computer now Jimmy now you didn't have a television no Jimmy we had a television but the computer was magic but what was in the computer nothing like me I started building computers when I was a kid, I build my own computers, I like it - like when I was in high school I had a friend named Andrew and he taught me how to hack CDs oh really yeah yeah so now you're talking good about supposed CDs and CDs do you remember hacking? I actually did what Apple did before they did it, I would do it because people used to hate albums and then people were like, I want that song and that song and that song on that song and then I was like, well, why not buy the songs?

Yes, and then Apple would steal them from me. my idea, oh, you know, oh, and then I'd just like to pretend I put singles on an album that we call mix takes when we would, no, I wouldn't, fade the music together, play it like that. that you can play the CD once and nothing, you wouldn't even know that the song has changed. I see, yeah, again, it's going to be Mariah Carey and then it's going to be noticeably big. I love computers, yes I still build them today. I still build. my own gaming platforms and everything you do at Microsoft do you like to go to Microsoft headquarters and do you like to work there or do you walk around like at Microsoft yeah, that's what I imagine yeah, really cool, I imagine you going around two cubicles and people taking pictures with you, no, no, so it

't happen too organically, so I went to Microsoft to talk about my book.

I met with some of the tech guys and in my book I talked about computers and they said, "you really know." your computer stuff is like yeah, they're like, do you want to see some stuff? I said yes and you know, we just had a great time and I didn't like walking through the labs like, what is this? I was like, oh, that's it. What I think and they were surprised, I see, and you know, I think our first relationship was great. I have a foundation in South Africa, an educational foundation, and Microsoft said, hey, we'll give you as many computers as you can.

Schools in South Africa need to be equipped so that kids have computers and they say what is this, what is this, what is this, and the thing is, it was great because the school had the computers and then I got the credit, but I didn't have to pay. What is your mother who gave you this first computer and now her son has become an international star? What does she think of all this? She still calls me to fix her computer. She now she does it.
