One of the areas that was hit hard, of course, is the East Nashville News. Channel 5's Chris Conte is there live right now showing us what he's watching. It has been so devastating to see what you are finding. Chris, you've taken us from East Nashville to Germantown. and bring the damage back here in five points it's amazing this was Music City vintage it was a vintage store that a couple of local people had opened it completely collapsed in on itself you can see the members of the store are actually out here trying to get parts of the business, everything they can salvage so they can reopen, but it's going to be incredibly difficult, it's impressive when you look over here and see what the five points look like in the light of day, this is the corner of Woodlawn and South 10, you can see the back of Boom Baz Pizza here to give you a little perspective, there was a structure here, it was a garage that flipped over on itself, the batter and fry sign, I can see here, we're In the back.

try to get some power lines off the roads, but look, I mean, this is just amazing. We were talking to the mother of the young gentleman who opened this store with his girlfriend a while ago and they were just saying that they were incredibly grateful. I don't want to continue this a bit incredibly grateful that no one was here because this happened at 12:30 at night.

We've been talking a lot about the fact that last night was pretty scary for people because they couldn't. The good thing about all of this was that this section of East Nashville wasn't incredibly populated, it wasn't super busy like it normally would be, you can see people from over the edge, we're actually here. trying to cook some meals, give away some free food to the people who are trying to recover here, you still see a series of hugs that may have been the bright light that saved the grace in all of this, the spirit and attitude of the East Nashville are alive. and well, people are here seriously, a lot of people are not working today and they come here trying to help each other recover.

We heard the Five Point Business Alliance say that those companies that were not affected or were not affected. They will not close because of this, they will rally around the businesses that were greatly affected. Some people, of course, will recover. This will simply mean taking back power in other places like this tattoo shop and this vintage shop. It's going to be a long time before they recover. I mean, there's nothing in this building that's going to be habitable again. It's just, I mean, it's extraordinary. Ladies, look, the top frame of this building has just been torn apart. steel structure that must weigh thousands of tons and now it's just toppled over on a thing that I've seen several times as we were walking around here, our people, who are sitting there stunned, it's been a long night, hasn't it?

We've been there since 12 o'clock last night. We are now approaching 12.35pm here and it is still incredible to see the extent of this. I mean, there is a misconception. I think it comes up a lot when people think. that a

could never hit a major metropolitan area, unfortunately we now know that's not true, of course it wasn't before, but it's hard to understand how a storm of this magnitude could pass through an area. like that, but again I just want to draw your attention to the people that are here helping each other. I'm removing pieces of this house that I can tell has been here for decades because of the way the roof is trying to save whatever they can as they are trying to find at l

pieces of memories of their lives.
I have seen people taking out photo books, photo albums, DVDs, anything they can salvage from this disaster because there are so many things that will have to be thrown away and there are so many things that have been lost here. It's amazing for the ladies to actually see what those storms did here last night and we'll send it back to the studio.
