dollar

tree

we will also need two one by two by eight from Home Depot for a dollar eighteen each and here is a look at the barcode for reference and we will also need some of these dollar tree zip ties Now let's get started cutting our wood and we're going to need six pieces cut to 22 and a half inches and we're also going to need six pieces cut to five and a half inches now if not I don't have a way to cut the wood.

Home Depot should do this for you for free, so if you want to stain your wood, you can go ahead and do it now, but I'm going to stain my wood, so I'm going to assemble it. My frame first, so we're going to take two long pieces and two of the short pieces to get ready to assemble our frame and I'm just going to lay my rack on a mat so I can have a little guide for reference. Now I'm going to place those smaller pieces between the two longer fold pieces on each end. To put them together I'm just going to use a little bit of hot glue because I'm screwing them on permanently, but the hot glue will give me a nice temporary hold, you just want to put it at the end of each of the short pieces, you want to apply it in place and then put glue heat on the end of those short pieces and apply the other long piece and here is our frame. all dry and adhered now you just want to repeat this process for your other two frames and here are our three frames ready to go so as I mentioned I wanted to screw my frames in so I'm going to use these two inch wood screws. for my frame now, before I apply my wood screws, I want to drill pilot holes to prevent the wood from splitting, so I'm going to apply a pilot hole in each four of the corners and I'm just going to use my drill to do this and I just want to drill a hole in each corner to make sure it's deep enough for my screw.

Now once all the holes are drilled, I'm just going to take one of the screws and I want to thread it in by hand. at first and then use my drill with a bit that fits and screw it in completely. Now you want to repeat this for all four corners and here are all the screws in place and now you just want to repeat this for your other two frames and now all of our frames are nice and secure, so now I'm going to paint my frames, so I What I'm going to do is I'm just going to put my frames up and I'm going to be Using this white chalk paint for my frame, since the chalk paint is nice and thick, all I'm going to do is give it a good coat.
top best dollar tree diys using a garden fence home decor ideas high end iron fence wall decor
You want to make sure you get the paint inside the screw as well so it mixes pretty well. and then you want to paint the outside and inside of the frame and the face and this is what it's going to look like and now you just repeat this for the other two frames. Now, once all three frames are painted, you want to let them sit. to dry completely, so now that they're dry I'm going to add some distressing, so I'm going to use some of this nutmeg brown acrylic paint and this black acrylic paint. Now I'm just going to mix and match these until Now I get a nice chocolate brown color to apply this to the frame.
I'm going to start inside the frame and there's really no rhyme or reason to this. I'm just dragging the side of my brush along the inside of the frame and it gives me a nice chipped look, chipped effect and weathered look and it looks like it's been worn down so I'm going to do this on the inside and then on the outside of my frame and this is what my frame looks like. all the weathering has been applied and now I'll just fill this in so the other two frames match up so now that's all done you want to set them aside to dry completely so while they're drying we're going to work on the sections of our fence.
Now you can use a variety of tools to cut them and make them fit, you can use a set of wire cutters. I have a couple different sizes that I like to use. You can also use your x-acto knife to cut the pieces. If you have a hot knife you can use that to cut the pieces as well or you can use heavy duty scissors and this is my preferred method so the first thing I like to do is cut those spikes and I'm just going to show you with the scissors that it's easy to just cut those spikes and you end up with a nice cut.
Now for the second one, I'm going to show you how to use the hot knife and this actually took a little bit longer. You have to be a little patient but once I get a nice little line there it just breaks and then for the third one I'm just going to use some wire cutters and this was the easiest and quickest so I just trimmed once and then cut the end off and they will all be off and ready to go. Now you can remove all the labels from your fence and I'm going to cut the fence into four equal sections along the line shown, so I'm just going to use my scissors for this and I'm going to carefully cut the center seam right between each section.
Now you just want to repeat this for the remaining three sections until you have four separate sections. Now set two of the sections aside and We're going to work with these two sections here, so what we want to do is cut that arch at the top first and we won't be

using

this part in the project, so we'll just cut both of them. pieces now to make those edges nice and round, we're going to cut the bottom as well and then we're going to take the wire cutter and we just want to cut the burrs around it and we want to make it as round as possible on the top and then on the bottom as well we want that round, but first we're going to cut those corners and then to get the bottom pieces to go around them we want to cut straight across the bottom, now this bottom piece is going to meet up against another piece so I'm going to trim it out with the wire cutter and then what I want to do is, I want to go in with my scissors and what's going to happen is the scissors are going to make a nice, even cut, so we want to set them aside and we want to work on the other two pieces.
Now we're going to start the same way and we're going to cut that top arc first and then we're going to cut those sides. pieces that connect the fence pieces because we won't be using them in this project. Now we're going to keep that bottom section on these two pieces, so all we really want to do is cut the corner edge, now they're coming off quite a bit. It was easily very easy to manipulate and cut them as they are plastic so it was pretty quick so now we have our four pieces ready but for this first section we are going to cut off those little arrowheads because I won't be using them in this section now we're going to keep them in the second sections so here we go we have all four pieces ready to go so now I'm just putting my Sherbonder silicone mat on because we're going to hot glue them so I'm just going to put the mat on and I'm going to place my end pieces that have that bottom still attached and I'm figuring out how I want to place those center pieces and what I decided to actually do is I decided to point the arrow to where the ends will meet as shown here in the middle and it will form a heart where they overlap, so to start putting the pieces together, what I'm going to do is take the zip ties and I want to apply a zip tie to the point where the pieces are joined together in the center.
Now I'm just applying it loosely at first so we can make some adjustments, but now you want to put it on the top and bottom loops once. are together, you're going to turn them around to the back to make sure the connection point is on the back and can't be seen from the front. You should adjust them a little and keep checking the connection. and then once they're good, what you want to do is take a little bit of hot glue and just press it into that connection point and you just want to make sure that it lays nice and flat while the glue dries, so once the glue is nice and secure and everything looks good, you can go ahead and cut those tails off the piece so now we can apply our final pieces, so all we're going to do is place that piece right on top of one of the ends. pieces as shown and you just want to make sure those heart pieces are formed and then flip the middle piece over, apply a line of glue where they overlap, now you can be generous with this glue, you want to make sure it has a secure join and pleasant. now once the glue starts to set go ahead and apply another zip tie around those overlapping pieces just below the ridges of the arrowhead and pull it towards the back so you can't see the connection point now If it looks good, go ahead. and cut that tail off and now all you have to do is repeat this on the other end and here is the piece fully secured now on the back, what we want to do is just add a little bit of extra glue where the pieces overlap. just for a little bit more security and then you want to take just a little broom and what I'm doing is getting rid of all those hot glue webs.
Now you want to repeat this for the other two sections of the fence and here are all my fence sections ready to go now this is optional but I'm going to apply a coat of this matte black spray paint and this will hide any of the imperfections, the zip ties and all my cut marks and once it dries all the pieces will be ready. To go, now just take one of your frames and turn it good side down and then place one of your fence sections face down now as you can see our ends overlap the frame by just a quarter of an inch. on each side which makes my measurements really perfect for the frame so I just applied a bead of hot glue on each end and first you need to secure those two ends of the fence section frame to the frame now once let it dry, so I want to go in the edges and apply a little bit of additional hot glue just to make sure those sides are nice and secure and this is what our photo frame is going to look like with our

iron

like insert.
I really love how it looks now to support this. up a little bit more what I'm doing is I'm taking my staple gun and I'm going to apply two staples to the top and bottom of the frame just to add a little bit of extra security around the edges and now just repeat this for the rest of your frames now to hang this all I did was take some jute twine I made some knots on each end and I'm just going to place it on the top of the frame on the back put two staples on each end of that knot Jude rope and this will be used to hang each of the frames.
You want to make sure they're a little bit loose so it's nice and easy to hang from your nail or hook and now all of our frames have the hanger and they're ready to hang and display and here's the final project guys oh my gosh I think they turned out absolutely beautiful. Now I think the fence pieces really look like wrought

iron

on these pieces and it really gives it a

high

end look and using that wood frame was very inexpensive to make and works perfect on this project whether you painted or stained it , and adding unique touches when distressing it really gives it character too.
We have these long bamboo spikes from the dollar tree and we will also need a section of the dollar tree fence. Now the first thing we want to do is cut our section of fence. Now we'll cut out all of these little swirl pieces individually. Now you can use cable cutters. or you can even use a hot knife if you want, but now I'm going to use some good old scissors. If you have a sturdy pair with a long blade like me, then you should have no problem cutting these fences now. We're going to start by removing those top arches and then we're going to remove all the arrowheads and now we're going to separate those iron swirls by carefully cutting them away and once we have a section, we're just going to carefully trim that excess to create a border clean and uniform around that swirl and then we want to repeat this for the remaining seven swirls and here they are all cut and ready to go, so now we're going to lay out our grid. cutting mat and then we're going to take thosebamboo skewers and some painter's tape.
Now I'm going to take about four skewers out of the package and I'm going to go ahead and measure them and cut them in half down the center. and these are easy to cut with wire cutters and then I want to take two long skewers out of the package and I want to place those cut ones aside now we're going to place each of those long skewers horizontally about 11 inches apart and we want to tape them together adhesive to our mat and then we'll take three of the skewers that we cut in half and place them vertically on top of those long skewers about 11 and a half inches apart, making sure there's at least a two-inch overlap of the horizontal skewers and once everything looks good and in place we can go ahead and tape them down with painter's tape and now we're going to take our glue gun and we're going to place a little bit of glue at each point where the skewers intersect and now we're going to grab our cut out Swirls and prepare to apply but first we will need to mark the centers of each side of the skewers to make sure our placement is correct so we will measure each side find the center and mark with a pencil and now that they are marked we can arranging the swirls as shown, making sure the good side is down and the points where the swirls meet are aligned with the centers we just marked now, once everything looks good we'll be Let's apply some of overlapping hot glue between each point where the skewer with the swirls touches just to make sure it holds its shape and now we're going to take four of the cut skewers and apply them in a criss-cross pattern now.
For the first skewers we want to make sure we glue them on both corners as well as the swirls where they make contact and then for the second skewer we'll make sure the corners are glued as well as the center contact with that first skewer. Now, once everything is secured with the glue, I'm going to use these zip ties to permanently secure the swirls to the frame. Now I bought the colored ones from Dollar General, but you can get the white and black ones at the Dollar Tree. you just want to wrap the zip tie around each swirl and wrap it around the skewer and secure it in place now for the center you want to thread the zip tie through both swirls and over the skewer as shown here and now that everything is secure you can cut all those zip tie tails and then I'm going to go in and apply a little more hot glue on those spiral connections just for good measure and then you let it dry and you can remove all the tape and now this is almost ready to paint, but before you paint I'm going to use this dollar tree hand broom to remove any of those hot glue nets from the piece and then I'm going to paint two coats of this krylon matte black spray paint on the front and back of the piece now, while it dries I'm going to cut my 1 by 2 by 8 furring strip to the size of my frame and this was 98 cents from Lowe's now the actual thickness is three quarters by one and a half inches. inches, so I cut two 13-inch pieces and I cut two 28-inch pieces.
Now we're going to place those 28 inch pieces and take that 13 inch piece and place it between them. Now I will use hot glue to join them together. Together, you just put a little bit of glue on each end of that 13 inch piece and place it between the two longer pieces on each end and then I'll take a clamp and hold them together. as it hardens and then you want to flip it over and repeat this on the other side. Now while it's hardening, I'm going to go ahead and staple them to the back of that seam for added security and when it's finally dried.
I'm going to stain it, so I'm going to protect my work surface and grab my supplies. Now I'm going to use this minwax classic gray stain for this project and then I'm going to go ahead and grab my frame and I'm going to start applying my stain. I'm going to make sure to cover the inside and outside edges as well and then we can set them aside to dry now to make the hardware corners that I'm going to be using these pieces of foam board. Now I made this template that measures three and a half inches square and the height of the L shape is one and a half inches and you can copy this onto a simple sheet of paper now that you've made your paper template you can go ahead and trace that shape on the foam board four times and now that they are all traced out we can use a ruler and an x-acto knife to cut out our pieces and now that they are all cut out we can I can take some sandpaper and smooth out all those edges.
Now I'm going to use these water bottle caps that I've collected to look like the bolts. You can also use the dollar tree glass gems. Now they will be distributed into three pieces. per corner now I'm just going to apply a little bit of hot glue around the edge of the lid and I want to adhere it to those pieces and now that they're all dry we can paint now I'm going to use this black acrylic paint for these I want to start by applying the paint around the edges making sure to get all that foam texture in and then you can apply that paint to the top and the lid and here are all my corners completed now that my frame is dry. and I can place it on my table right side down and here's my iron insert which is now dry and we can place it on top of the frame right side down also now we want to make sure it's centered with about an inch gap around once in place just take some wire snips and cut off any excess skewers that are longer than the frame and then just take your glue gun and secure that frame in place by applying it to the skewers that touch it and then we'll take our staple gun and we're going to put a staple on each of those spikes for added security, then we just flip our frame over to check it and now we can add our corners to add. the corners, all I'm going to do is add hot glue to the back of each corner and I want to press that into place and here are all of our corners in place.
Then to hang this piece you can simply add these optional frame hooks that you can get at the dollar tree and here is the final project all hanging oh my gosh I love how they turned out. I think this gray stain was perfect for this piece and I really love how it pairs with that black iron. Look now, the Wayfarers version is 79 and I think we hit the mark right, costing us only four dollars in additional supplies and check out these bottle caps to see the hardware. I mean, what do you guys think? I can't wait to display them in my entryway.
You guys have to let me know in the comments how you would display these pieces in your

home

now for this project, we are going to need two of these dollar tree fence sections and we also need two, one by two, from Home Depot now. These come in eight-foot-long pieces and are really inexpensive, only costing $54 each. Now you can also use some five gallon stirring sticks from Home Depot and they are only 98 cents and you will need three packages to make. two frames now, the first thing we want to do is cut one by two into four ten and a half inch pieces and four 16 and a quarter inch pieces now, if you're using the paint stir sticks that we're going to use.
You need four sticks for each of the frames and again you want to cut two of those sticks to 16 and a quarter inches and 10 and a half inches if you want them to meet end to end now if you want them to actually intersect. each other, which I recommend, if you use paint sticks, you won't cut that shorter stick at 10 and a half inches, but at 13 and a half, so now that all your sticks are cut nicely, I'm just going to go ahead and stain with my favorite, you know, Mimwax stained Jacobian, so you're going to pick the nicer side of the wood and then you're going to take your rag and you're going to want to apply a good coat of that stain to the front. and the two side pieces now you also want to dye the ends of the long piece because they will be exposed in your final project.
Now once all the long pieces are stained you want to go ahead and stain the shorter pieces and you want to stain them the same way but you don't want to stain the ends of these pieces because we're going to adhere them to the wood and they won't show up and now Since all your pieces are nice and dyed, you'll want to leave them out. two or three hours to dry so while that's drying we're going to work on the sections of our fence and cut them into four separate sections now to cut them I like to use just a pair of sharp heavy duty scissors and a combination of wire cutters if necessary necessary, I found that these two methods work

best

for cutting this fence so I like to start cutting my fence by first removing the sticks at the bottom, we won't be using them so let's go ahead and cut them down and now we want to start cutting the fence sections.
Now what you want to do is take your scissors and evenly cut the seam between each of the sections, just making sure to cut it as evenly as possible until they are all cut into four sections. Now we're going to cut the edge of these little swirl pieces because this is going to be the main part of our project so you just want to carefully take your scissors and cut around all the curves now when you cut around these you just want to make them as round and uniform as possible as you go, now cutting that top part was pretty easy and the bottom part can be more or less It's tricky because it's a little thicker, but you just have to be careful when going around it and making small cuts around it. the time.
I found that doing it that way will help prevent it from cracking, so now all we have are these little bits at the bottom. and we're going to have to give them a little round shape so they're even with the other swirls on top and this is what one of the pieces is going to look like and we're just going to go ahead and take our little wire. clippers and I'm just going to cut out the little strawberries and you can also use sandpaper to sand it as smooth as possible if you want and now we're going to repeat this for the other three pieces until we have all four. of our pieces are ready to go, so we're going to put two of those pieces to the side and we're going to cut the two more in half, so I'm going to cut them in half a little bit.
Probably a little longer on the arrow side than on the swirl side, but we're going to cut them as shown here and then on the little swirl side we'll just split them in half, so in the end we'll have two full swirls , we're going to have two half swirls and then the little swirls that we cut in half, so now I'm going to grab my grid mat and this is going to help me lay out the pieces and make sure that my design is going to be perfectly even, so we're going to start with those pieces. complete and we will join those ends with the arrows facing out and we will overlap them slightly in the middle and we will work. from the back of this, so turn them good side down and we want to overlap those bottoms to make sure they fit right and even now to glue them down, I'm going to use my clear hot folder.

high

temperature glue and I have my wood glue sticks in there, it doesn't matter which ones you use, I prefer the wood glue sticks, I think they are much stronger and I'm just going to apply one coat of glue. there and stack them on top of each other to make sure they're attached now once they're attached I'm just going to generously apply another coat right on top of that seam just to make sure they're nice and secure together and this is what it's going to look like be generous with this, don't be shy now, once the glue is firm to the touch, we will proceed to add our two top pieces that we cut from the other swirls with the arrows there again.
I want to make sure they're upside down and they're nice and aligned. Now I noticed that my ends were a little too wide so I'm just cutting the edge of both ends at the bottom to make it look like shown here just to make sure. that fit perfectly in the area without overlapping and then again I'm going to take my hot glue and I'm going to apply it right on top of the glue that we just applied here those two side pieces together and then once that's there, you just want to place the end of that piece right at the top and you want to make sure it's nice and even, and we're going to repeat this for the bottom as well until the glue is nice and secure now once. that initial seam is there, you want to apply a lot of that hot glue on that seam where that piece was placed on top.
I just like to run the glue through those channels and connect the channel on that piece along with the channel on that side and you can see here how I applied that glue now to make sure they're definitely secure in place. I'm going to take two of these zip ties and I'm going to apply them around that seam between the main piece and the pieces that I added now that I bought these zip ties from Dollar Tree, they're really inexpensive and I think they come in around 60 a pack, so once May those bridles be nice and secure, you'll just want to cut those tails off, so now let's go. to add those little swirl pieces, so I'm just going to place one on each side as shown here.
I'm going to place two on top and two on the bottom now to make sure they fit. I'm going to trim the bottom of each of those swirls until it's nice and flat and it'll fit right inside that little fold now once our cuts are nice and we'll even remove them because we're going to put a lot of glue on and we want to place it right at that junction at the bottom, now we're going to wait for the glue to harden and then we're going to go in again and put some glue right on top, now adding that glue to the bottom.
The bottom just gives it a little bit of height so that these side pieces that we're adding now will fit right on top of there and we're just going to place one on each side of the glue that we just added and let's repeat this for the other side as well and now you can see how they're going to come together, so once that's dry, we're going to go in with our hot glue and apply a generous amount of hot glue. through those channels and in the middle where that connection happens and this is going to make sure that they're very secure and as you see here I applied a generous amount of that hot glue so that they're not going anywhere so now this piece is completely secured so I'm going I'm going to take my little dollar tree broom and I'm going to remove all those hot glue nets from the piece and then once that's done, go ahead and grab the other fence and repeat.
The process for a second one and here they are my two pieces of iron are ready for my project, so now what I want to do is just apply two coats of this matte black spray paint right on top, this will hide everything. imperfections and also give it a nice seamless finish on top. Now while that's drying, we can start working on our wooden frame because now our wooden pieces are dry, so I'm just going to take two of those shorter pieces and two of those longer pieces. pieces to start assembling my frame and I'm going to place the longer pieces on top and just sandwich those shorter pieces right in the middle so for an immediate temporary joint I'm using a little bit of hot glue with the glue sticks of wood from my shirt folder and I'm going to use this to adhere it just for a temporary bond.
I'm going to add some screws later, but this allows me to keep working without letting it sit for a while to dry, like I would with wood glue. So I'm just applying that to all the ends and then applying all the pieces together pressing firmly into place until it sets, so I mentioned that I'm going to use screws and for this project I'm going to use one and a half inch lumber. screws to go into each end and I will need four for each frame so before I add my wood screws I like to add pilot holes and this will prevent the wood from splitting when I add the wood screws and I recommend you don't skip this step , it will definitely save you some time and just drill four pilot holes in each corner and here are all my drilled holes ready for those screws and now I'm going to take my four screws and I've put them in. my screw bit into my drill and I'm going to start by hand threading it and then screwing it all the way in with your drill.
Now you will repeat this until all four corners have their screws and this will ensure that your frame is nice and sturdy now you repeat this whole process for your second frame until both are complete when you notice that my screws have a golden color so to remedy that I am going to mix a little of this. nutmeg brown along with this black acrylic paint until I get a color close to my Jacobian stain because what I'm going to do with this when I get it is cover up all those screw holes, so I'm just going to take that paint and I'm going to take a fine brush, dip it into that screw and around it to blend it into the finish and you want to repeat this throughout the frame so now that my iron pieces are dry we can start and add them. to our frames, so sit them aside and grab one of those frames.
Now what we're going to do is take one of our pieces of iron and we're going to center it right on top and, as you see, those arrows are just overlapping the frame. just like I planned, so initially I'm going to take my hot glue and what I want to do is turn my iron piece over and I'm going to put a drop of hot glue inside each of those arrows and I'm going to apply it to the center of my frame Now I'm using this hot glue as a temporary fastener because as I mentioned before I like to use nails and screws on my pieces to make sure it lasts a long time and I'm going to use just these little nails that are just half an inch long and I'm going to use them to apply this iron on to my frame, so since they are so small, I'm using my needle nose pliers to hold them on, so I'm just going to put that nail right in the center of the arrow and I'm going to nail it in the middle and then I'm going to repeat this throughout the frame.
Now I like the way that nail looks there, it really gives it. a rustic look, but if you don't like that, you can grab some black acrylic paint and I'm going to do this and show you how to do it. I'll just take a small point and cover each of them. nail heads and there you have it and now all we have to do is add our iron piece to our second frame so now both frames are mounted and ready to go so now to hang our piece all I'm going What to do is add some jute twine with knots tied at each end.
Now I'm going to mount a rope on the top and a rope on the side and that way it will give you the option to display them horizontally or vertically now to apply them. I'm just going to use my staple gun and apply two staples to each end where that knot is on that jute rope. Now you want to do this for the top and bottom of the frame and here are both pieces in place. and now both frames have their hangers and are ready to display and here are the complete frame pieces on display now I think they turned out so amazing now I really love the high end look of wrought iron and

home

decor

especially when combined with beautiful wood tones as shown in this piece and the texture of these pieces up close is so realistic now hanging them horizontally is also a great option and opens the door to so many creative ways to display them now I can definitely see them with now also add a candle holder or a bunch of greenery or flowers to the center, if you don't want to stain the wood, you can also add a rustic finish for the weather, such as in gray or white, and you can add it to the frame or even the iron piece itself, all should let me know in the comments how you would choose to decorate and display them in your home now for this project, we are going to need one of these dollar tree garden fence sections that we are going to need three packages of 5 gallon wood paint stir sticks that They're 98 cents at Lowe's, we're going to need a small picture frame holder and these are sold in multiples from Dollar Tree and we're going to need two candle holders or jars of your choice, so I'm going to start with those 5 gallon paint stir bars.
I'm going to remove one bar and then cut the rest to size. I ended up cutting my bars to 15 inches, so now what are we going to do. Make sure all your sticks are unpacked and add them in sets of four. Now you will notice that one side has numbers and the other side is blank. Now this won't really matter if you are painting them, but it will matter if you are staining them. make sure the numbered sides are on the back so I'm going to use one of these dollar tree carpenter squares to make sure everything is lined up and perfect and then I'm going to use those cut ends of those paint stir sticks to put them together now.
I'm going to start by attaching them with my Sheer Bonder wood hot glue stick and I'm going to apply that to one of the sticks and I'm going to place it on the top of the back of the piece and then I'm going to adhere that bottom piece in place as well and finally I'm going to I'm going to take the last stick and I'm going to join it in the center, so now we'll have a solid wooden board to work with now, I'm just going to repeat this process for the other four sticks and here are my two finished wooden boards, like this So now we're going to paint the wooden boards and I'm going to use this white chalk paint now.
It can also be stained, but I just wanted to have mine with a white chalk paint finish, so I'll add chalk paint to the wood and then apply it to the entire front and sides of the piece, and here it is. one covered and we just want to make sure we do the same for the second one and once they are both covered let them sit aside to dry completely now while they dry we will start working on the fence section now. I'm going to start by removing all the tags and first I want to remove those stakes.
Now I like to use my scissors but you can also use some wire cutters and sometimes I use them for some small pieces now that I've had a I have a lot of questions about what scissors I use and these are called craft tools and I bought them from Ross a few years ago, so first I'm going to cut those sticks at the bottom and then I want to remove those side pieces now since these are really small. I'm using my little wire cutters just to cut them too and I'm going to cut them on both sides of the fence piece and now they're both removed so now what I want to do is I want to cut them into four different sections and I'm just going to use my scissors for this.
Now the key to this is to take your time, go slow and make sure everything is even as you cut, so let's cut. until we have the four sections separated as shown here, so now take one of those sections and we're going to cut this bottom piece out, so I'm just taking my ruler and I want to measure up to about three inches from that bottom piece. Now this is going to be my cutting line, so I'm going to cut it first and then separate it on each side as well and here's one of the pieces now to make sure it transfers the same size.
I'm just placing it. on top of all my other pieces to make sure I get the same cut and you're going to end up with four of these tops and four of these bottoms, so now you're going to take those four bottoms since we don't need this extra. piece here, so we're going to cut this on all of our pieces as well and now that they're all cut, we're going to do the same for the top pieces, we're going to cut those extra side pieces like As shown here and now, all of our top pieces they're cut and ready to go so I'm going to lay down my Sherbander silicone mat because we're going to assemble our iron piece so I'm going to take two bottom pieces and I'm going to turn them over. them good side down and I want to join those two flat ends together now all I'm going to do is run a drop of my hot glue along that seam you want to make sure you press the two pieces together because I don't want the glue hot run to the other side, add a little bit more to each crossed end and you want this to dry completely and here it's all dry and we can go ahead and turn it over and continue working on our project now. for each side we're going to add one of these top pieces as shown here, now we're just going to overlap them on top.
I originally cut these two end pieces at an angle like an arrow, but it's not really necessary, I thought. These were going to be shown at the beginning of my project but I ended up covering them with another idea so you can leave them as straight as possible but this is how they will line up you just need to make sure the ends of the swirls are touching so what What we're going to do to connect this is we're going to run a drop of hot glue on each end of that center piece. This is going to add some extra height because there's a little slot here, so let's plug this in.
We're going to add a little bit of hot glue into that slot and this will just fill in that extra empty space so we can attach the link. Now we're going to let this solidify now, once all of that has hardened, we're going to Go ahead and add hot glue on top of our existing glue. Now this should make contact with the other piece, let's place it on top, make sure it's lined up and make sure those swirls are touching and we're going to do this on each side and this is what one of our pieces will look like, so now We are going to repeat the process for a second piece and now both pieces are finished.
We cut a lot so I'm I'm going to go ahead and apply a coat of Krylon matte black spray paint to cover all my imperfections now while that's drying we're going to work on our wood boards because they should be dry now so I'm going to do some. nutmeg brown and a little bit of black paint together to get a nice chocolate brown color and what I want to do with this is add a little bit of distressing around the frame so that once you get the color that you're happy with you want to move on. a small brush andjust drag it along the edge very randomly, I mean when you're working with something worn and worn, it's usually very random, so I just go around the edges and make it look like weather and shipping.
So here's one completely ready and I'm going to repeat this process for a second and now I'm going to let them dry so at this point both pieces are dry after sitting and we can start putting them together so I'm just going to place one of the iron pieces on top of each of the wooden pieces. Now, if you have any small overlap as shown here, you can easily cut it so that it doesn't overlap and fits nicely on top of the board. Now I wanted to have some extra security, so I'm going to use some half inch nails on these iron pieces of the board and this is just for added security to make sure it stays in place.
Now initially I'm going to hot glue these and I'm going to run it down the center seam along the back and I want to place it on the board and make sure it's even between the two ends and this just provides that initial bond, now you want repeat this. for the other section of the fence on the other board as well and now I'm using my needle nose pliers to hold those little nails and I'm going to apply them as shown here, I'm just going to drive one into each of the ends of the piece iron are made here, making sure it goes into the board and here's one fully applied and then once both boards are applied we're ready to go so now I'm going to work on my photo frame holder. it's sold at Dollar Tree in the picture frame section and I'm just going to use some wire snips just to cut that little hinge so both pieces come apart and then I'm going to use my wire snips again to remove that hinge from the back, so it's nice. and smooth and now both hinge pieces are gone so you can use them in your project now before I add those hinges I'm going to add my picture hangers and all I'm going to use is some jute twine with knots tied on each one.
In the end, I'll just place it over that first stick and then add two staples to each end and this will be enough to hold your item. Now you can add more staples if you want or use metal clips if you have them on hand. Now we can add our hangers to our sconces, so I'm going to attach the back. I want to make sure it's right side up and then place the back of that little picture hanger into the frame. Now if you look closely you will see some little dots there and these were the perfect guide for drilling some holes.
I'll be able to hold them down, so I'm going to drill a hole in each end of this side of the picture hanger with my drill. Now you just want to make sure your bit is big enough to fit a strap through. so I'm going to go ahead with my drill. I'm going to quickly drill two holes in each of those hangers. Now, if you don't have a drill, you can use an x-acto knife or a wood stove to achieve the result. Same thing, so now I'm going to take my piece of whiskey and I'm going to place one of those picture hangers on top of it and I'm going to mark a hole on each side of my wooden backing where that hole lines up with this.
So I'll have a way to hold my picture hanger on the back and then I'm just going to drill a hole on each side where all those marks are so everything is lined up and ready to go and then I'm just going to check again, making sure that all the holes in my hanger and my board are lined up now to secure this initially, I'm going to add a piece or a little line of hot glue to the top and bottom in the center and then I'm going to position that hanger to be right in the center and just press it into place now this is just to get an initial hold and make sure it stays in place while we work on our strapping.
Now I'll use the zip ties I picked up from the dollar tree. Now, these are 60 in a package for a dollar, so I'm just going to thread one through the back hole and then once I thread it through the front, I'm going to thread it through the hole of my picture hanger and then I'm going to thread it through. through the back of the other side in the other hole that we drilled now, you may need your needle nose pliers to get it out because I drilled all of my little one. I didn't want a lot of play so just attach that zip tie and secure it firmly in place and repeat this for the top now once everything is nice and tight go ahead and make sure your hanger in the front is nice and secure and then cut those ends off your flanges and here it's completely done and it worked perfectly and now you just want to repeat the process for your other scotches and here they are both, they're ready to go so now I'm going to grab my two emotive jars that I got from the tree of the dollar. and I need to add a hanger now, you can use jute twine, but I want to use something that is black in color, so I grabbed this cord from the dollar tree, now you can get it from the hardware section and everything I'm making.
What I'm going to do is I'm going to wrap it around the edge of the jar and I'm going to twist it into a twist tie and then I'm going to wrap it around and I'm actually going to use my applique. as a guide to how long I want that loop and how far I want my jar to hang, just hold it in place with your thumb, wrap it around once and then grab that end and then all we're going to do is wrap it around. that end around the strap that you have at the top and twist it into place as well, so now it's twisted on both sides and your hanger should be nice and secure, so now I'm going to go ahead and make sure that it has a good shape. hang it there see how it looks and it's perfect now you just want to repeat this for your second jar so now you're ready to decorate and hang them and here are my garden fin sconces both hanging and on display now.
I really love this look. I have received so many requests to add a chandelier to my garden fence DIYs and these picture frame brackets work perfect for this option. Now I added some rocks and succulents to my jars, but you can add flowers, fairy lights or whatever. Do you like it now these stands are very sturdy and allows them to hold mason jars too and this wood chip accent is very subtle but has that extra rustic touch that I love. Now be sure to tell me what you like. Think about this project in the comments below.
Now we will use three of these dollar tree garden fence sections. You want to go ahead and lay out your cutting mat and grab your cutting tools. Now I'm going to use wire cutters and my x. -acto knife for this project we will now cut the connecting tabs on each end of the fence and the three stakes at the bottom then we will cut them in half in half now to cut you can use these tools or if I have a hot knife , that would be even easier now, after cutting those connecting tabs, we want to go ahead and cut those stakes at the bottom.
Now we can go ahead and cut them in half. You want to find the center and cut the dashes carefully. the center with your x-acto knife and then we can cut them out now for the cut edges. You can use a nail file or sandpaper to smooth it out. You also want to cut the second fence this way for four pieces total. Now set those up. to the side and grab that third fence and we're going to cut out four of the scroll designs. Now we're going to cut around each side of the top of the parchment and then we'll trim the bottom at the bottom of the scroll as shown here and then I'll use my wire cutters to roughly cut out each piece before making my precise cuts.
Now these are the four sections that you will use and now it's time to separate them. I'll be using a combination of my fine point wire cutters and my Exacto knife for this and this is what your final pieces should look like. Now all we do is sand those edges and make them as smooth as possible. Next, we're going to adhere the pieces together, so I'm going to place some parchment paper on my work table. Now we are going to start with the four side pieces so that they are placed in a square formation like I am showing here once I have placed them.
We can go ahead and turn the pieces right side down and arrange the pieces so that the two side sections slightly overlap the top and bottom pieces. Now, once everything is even, we will use hot glue and e6000 to secure them together. We'll start with one side and apply a generous amount of that e6000 to each corner making a circle and then I'll add hot glue to the center of each of those circles and then you'll move on. and put the side piece back in place and you want to add more hot glue around the edges where they connect.
Now let's go ahead and repeat this on the other side. Now you want to wait about 10 minutes for the hot glue to dry. initially set and then we're just going to carefully slide the frame in to start working on those corner pieces. Now take the corner piece and you want to place it where the side curls touch the frame and the bottom stem overlaps that corner and then once. positioned you want to apply that combination of e6000 and hot glue to the corner and get that piece in place and then you just want to apply a little bit of e6000 to those contact points with those side curls that touch the frame and then you want to finish with a little bit hot glue you want to make sure you repeat this on all four corners and let them dry for a couple of hours and then your frame will be secured so now I'm going to take this dollar tree pizza pan and go ahead and remove the label.
I'm going to turn that pan over and slide the pizza pan under the frame and the back of the pan and the back of the frame should be facing you. If you want to center that frame in the mold as evenly as possible, then you want to take a marker and mark the four edges of the frame on the back of that pan so that you can now lift the frame up and set it aside, which you want to do. Now is take your e6000 and apply a generous amount. along the outside edges of the lines you just marked and then you want to follow up with hot glue, now take that frame and line it up on top of the tray, placing it in the glue and pressing it into place, then you want to continue with Some hot glue along the edges now to help keep good contact.
I'm putting these weights on top while it dries, but you can use whatever heavy object works for you now, once the hot glue dries, just go ahead and want to add more hot glue. glue all the spaces around the frame where it contacts the tray and once they are dry, I'm going to apply a final coat of that hot glue in a zigzag motion over the fence and the tray connection. I'm very extra but this will definitely make sure the connection is solid, now let it dry for a few more hours and then we should be able to go ahead and flip it over and we can work on the front side, now we want to start taping the edge of that tray.
Because we're going to paint the frame now, I'm going to use this white chalk paint. Now I'm just going to take my dry brush and apply the paint lightly and I want to let some of the original finish of the fence show through this. that piece has a rustic, aged look and this fence is textured to add more character and here it's all painted so now this dries pretty quickly so we can go ahead and remove the tape so next I'm going to use these gems from glass around the outermost edge of that pizza pan so to do this we're going to use e6000 so you want to apply a little bit of that e6000 to each gem all the way around and the outer round is done so now I'm going to add a mirror to the center now this mirror is 10 inches in diameter and I bought it on Amazon for about two dollars so before I apply it I'm going to go ahead and remove those little rubber pads from the bottom so it's flush.
So I'm going to apply a generous amount of that e6000 to the back. Now you need to center it carefully and apply it into place and once it's in place I can go ahead and apply that final round of those glass gems around the mirror. and here everything is done. To hang this, I'm going to attach a simple V shaped hanging wire made from wire from the dollar tree hardware section and here I'm just wrapping the edges of the wire to add a little bit. leverage the hook so now I'm just going to center the hanging wire on the back of that pizza pan and apply a generous amount of that e6000 to the bottom inch and a half of that wire and once applied let everything dry for night okay so everything is dry so now what we're going to do is test our hanging wire everything is secure and we're ready to go there so now I'm going to add some pieces of floral stem around our mirror and I'm going to wrap themaround the mirror as an accent now to apply them all I had to do was tuck them under the edge of the pizza pan and they stayed in place you just want to work them around the shape and arrange them. flowers as desired Now, after letting the mirror fully dry and cure for at least 48 hours, you can hang your final creation.
How beautiful this piece is. I am so in love with this design and it looks so expensive that the painting technique we used gives it this. It pieces that rustic, farmhouse look we are going for and looks so realistic and adding those gems to the mirror really makes it a true masterpiece for your home and your guests will definitely look twice when you tell them about this DIY secret. Now I chose these flowers because I love this yellow, but you can choose any floral or green that you like, you can even choose not to use ornaments or flowers if you like, listen, I hope you all enjoyed seeing these creations again or for some of you first time, I hope you are all inspired to create your own home decor using the garden sections too.
