TOP 3 CYCLING FASHION TRENDS and how to style them #cyclingfashion
it has been far too long far too long since we talked kit on this channel and today we're going to fix that in a big way you are bombarded on social media with

cycling

brands selling you the newest jersey and the best new look so what i want to do today is will help you navigate what you're seeing in 2021 let's talk about the top three

cycling

fashion

trends

you should consider and how to

style

them

okay before we get started the obvious disclaimer

fashion

on the bike or what you wear on the bike should be fun yes it can be an expression of your personality yes you should feel comfortable what you are wearing but ultimately if you are wearing a plastic bag but you are out on the bike then that is the win now that we have that sorted let's get into the first trend you should consider no longer overpriced sweat boxes that were the hunting ground of boutique niche brands almost all the major

cycling

apparel brands are now leaning into this space now i'm not going to delve into the environmental versus marketing versus cost cutting aspects of this apple removing its charging block from the new iphones kind of has me pretty cynical about the intentions of a lot of this but i do want to talk about the products

them

selves and how they might fit into your

cycling

wardrobe the phrase sustainable is a pretty broad term but as a general rule it results in the product being made from some grade of recycled material the most common of these recycled plastics are your...

nylons and your polyesters now the reason you should consider this trend apart from the saving the dolphins part is the breathability of these products now in many respects and in many examples is actually better than the pure blood brothers and sisters in the same product line so what sustainable products should you consider well i've mentioned the word breathability quite a few times and you should lean into that space when you are considering these products maybe go for looser fit around the sort of arms and the sleeves you probably want to kind of steer away from the loose of fit stuff around the gut in the back because ultimately that can lead to the saggy pocket droopy thing and we sort of want to stay a little bit away from that rapha i love you obviously everyone go to rafa's websites now and buy absolutely everything on their website in fact buy everything on their website except for the old wool jersey stuff that they did now i know rapha really cut its teeth on that when it first came out that natural fibers thing but their new sustainable range fantastic is really modern that older merino wool jersey it's gonna do the saggy pocket thing let's just let's just leave that to the late 2000s i'd also be a little bit cautious with the sustainable material stuff around full out aero because you're already dealing with lightweight materials aero stuff stretches that so i would suggest at this point leaving it more to the looser fit stuff some...

products that i would definitely recommend if you are considering sort of dipping your toe into the gravel space there's a really good range of gravel or off-road products in that sustainable stuff would fit really well breathable looser yeah and my last comment about maybe styling this stuff is in terms of the colorways maybe steer a little bit away from the pastels and the brighter colors and lean towards darker shade earthier shades we'll talk a little bit more about that coming up so my second

cycling

fashion

trend you should consider are geometric patterns and will patterns in general but i want to simplify this really all you're looking for is something that adds a bit of depth or a little bit of texture to the overall design slapping a couple of pineapples on a blue jersey is not really what we're talking about here this trend kinda takes its lead from like 90s streetwear and sportswear so us kids of the 90s should be well and truly placed to know what to look for no mc hammer pants do not fit part of this build a real benefit of this look is where color blocking and gradients kind of separated the jerseys out patterns and this sort of thing adds depth and it allows you to sort of just dabble in it in little bits of the jersey if that's the way you want to go about it this can very much be something where you just find a nice pattern or a nice design on a sleeve or on the back or on the pockets or something like that so you can kind of just dip your...

toe in it as you work that leads me to how to

style

this look which is a little bit easier than you might expect one of the great things about this trend is it looks great with plain black bibs plain socks plain shoes where you can really try and take this look to the next level though is let's say for example you're just using plain black bibs with it try and think to maybe use your accessories maybe sunglasses or something like that to pick up on the pattern that you're running in the jersey another styling idea for this and and this is out of my wheelhouse i'm not going to lie to you the the writers of movie star would probably say it requires big cochonas it can be done in verse and by that i mean geometric patterned shorts and a plain jersey and if done double double tick but it is out there it is an option consider it if your corners are suitable so the third trend that you can consider having a little bit of a play around with is a slight change of color palette seeing more earthy deeper richer colors okay so that sounds pretty simple we are talking about deeper reds that are burnt umber blues that tend towards dark navy yellows that are a little bit more mustard and greens that well are a little darker so that's the palette but why you should consider leaning into this trend is when you wear it well with quality garments it has this unique ability of giving off this kind of relaxed vibe but with a classy undertone it's the kind of colorway that...
looks great off the front of the bunch as well as at the cafe and let's be honest pastels and all those bright sort of floral colors that was a challenge those two mixers so what about a couple of options on how to

style

this look because it can easily just be boring so let's do maybe three looks you can consider as part of this sort of color palette and the first one is non-black bibs and when i say non-black bibs i'm talking about some maybe some pre-dyed dark navy or some deep green bib shorts try and keep your accessories kind of pretty paired down if you're running sort of two-tone bib shortened jersey because you really want that to be the highlight of the look rather than the accessories the second way to

style

it maybe is to look at the trimmings of your jerseys or accessories and try and pop some color into there an idea there might be a dark navy jersey with a hint of like a lime green in it or something like that something that's not overpowering just pops the color out a little bit if you are going to try and do that maybe potentially avoid clashing it with some crazy socks you really want the pop of the color to be in those trimmings and the third way to

style

this is to run a colored base layer for example if you're running like dark navy shorts and like a dark green jersey like a brown or a mustard under jersey wow like you'd just be you'll just be unzipping in freaking three degrees to get that out on show so there we have it...
folks three

cycling

trends

to consider and some ideas how to

style

them

i am obviously really keen to do more of this because i love kit but as much as possible i want to try and avoid the do's and don'ts thing and be more constructive like give ideas about okay well here's a trend or here's a look maybe try and do it this way very much come at it from a constructive angle that said i'm very well aware that like people that take their

cycling

fashion

very seriously can often be viewed and and rightfully so in many respects viewed as the sort of cliquey toxic problem with

cycling

oh he's not wearing the right socks or they don't match this or that you know you've all heard it right i don't know like i've always believed that that's the attitude of that individual it's the attitude of someone insecure with someone something to hide it's the attitude of a and i just think that's very separate from putting on a jersey or thinking about putting on a jersey that essentially makes you feel good makes you feel fast is sometimes an expression of your personality which i don't think is a bad thing and see that's it because that's where like

fashion

becomes fun and that's what i would like this kind of series of vlogs to be about so the question then is did you enjoy this video and if you did hit the thumbs up button guys please too as you can probably guess uh this is going to be very much escapism for me at the...
