Top 20 Diy's in 2020/Dollar Tree/High End

Jun 06, 2021
Hello everyone, I'm Barbara and welcome back to my channel. Today I have my top 20 DIYs in

2020

so let's jump into this snowman centerpiece using items from Dollar Tree so this piece cost me less than seven

dollar

s and I think it turned out so beautiful. I'm going to start with this glass vase from Dollar Tree and I went ahead and removed the sticker on the bottom and I'm also going to use this plastic snow globe from Dollar Tree and I'm just going to Remove the lid, the insert and the paperwork and set them aside because I only need the outside of the snow globe, so to prepare them for painting, I'm using some isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab and I'm going to clean the inside of these two pieces with alcohol because I'm going to paint the inside and I'll mainly do this for the glass because you want to make sure it's nice and clean before you start painting so once the alcohol has dried I'm taking my Waverly chalk paint in white and I'm giving it a fine coat of paint on the inside and I'm going to let it dry and then I'm going to put a second coat of paint on the inside, now you can.

Paint the outside of this if you want, but I chose to paint the inside because I thought it would show less brush strokes and I love how it was nice and shiny on the outside and nice and smooth, so you're going to paint the inside of the snow globe too again this is with two coats allowing them to dry between coats and they are very thin coats so once they have dried I will apply some mod podge to the inside of mine. It's completely optional, but I wanted to make sure the paint doesn't chip, especially on the glass vase, because once you put them together, you know you won't be able to fix the inside if the paint chips, so to secure these two together.

I'm using e6000 and hot glue and the e6000 will create that permanent hold and the hot glue will hold it in place right until the e6000 sets up so I'm going to take the balloon and turn it over so that the swivel part is on the top and then center it up make sure it's nice and centered at the bottom so it becomes your head so now I'm going to grab some of these shiny pearl gems these came from Dollar General and if you saw any from my previous videos. You've seen me use them a couple of times.

I'm going to paint two of them with my black chalkboard paint that came from Dollar General. Now this chalkboard sign came from Dollar Tree in a package. I already used the sign in a previous project, so I just cut it out because I save everything. I saved the little wooden stake in the DIY that I used before and just trimmed the end off and gave it a nice coat of paint in pure orange folk art and this will become its nose so now to cover the edge on the top I'm going to use a buffalo plaid ribbon that came from the hobby lobby, of course you can use the buffalo plaid ribbon from Dollar Tree.

I had this on hand and it's a little thinner it's not as wide as what you get at Dollar Tree and I'm just going to cut it lengthwise and then I want to fold it so it's the same size as the twisted part of the snowball and on this particular ribbon it ends up just being the black and gray checkered part, so I'm going to fold it down so it's nice and straight and then I'm going to use hot glue to hold it down. in place so that it becomes one uniform piece and then once everything is glued I can secure it around the edge of the snowball using hot glue and this will become part of his hat and you will see it in just a moment , I think it turns out really pretty, so once you have all of that attached to your hat, I'm actually going to use a

dollar

tree

ornament and it's this Czech buffalo hat dollar

tree

ornament and it's so beautiful.
I love greenery and berries and I'm going to cut the hanger as close to the top of the hat as possible and push it down onto the small part of the hanger that's left and then use hot glue. to put his hat on top of his head now, as you can see, I already applied one of his eyes, guys, I'm sorry it was rolling around so I had to put a towel under it to keep it still. instead, but I'm just taking those sparkly gem pieces and hot glueing them together and then hot glueing her nose together as well and then once everything is set up, I'm going to create her scarf using the same buffalo plaid. tape and I'm just going to apply hot glue where the two pieces meet and then I'm going to put the tape on top of that and I'm going to push it down and then I'm going to fold it over a little bit, you'll see in just a Minute, this gives it a little bit more of a look. realistically to a scarf and once you have it on, just fold it down a little.
You don't want it to be completely folded, but just to give it a little more realistic look. with hot glue and when I get to the front I'm going to take one side and run it under the other side and once it goes through pull that up and then I'm going to run it over the other side again boy I hope that makes sense it's a bit confusing, but basically it's almost like tying it up and then I'm going to fluff it up a little bit, I'm going to push it to the side and once I have it exactly how I want it, I'm going to do it.
To take hot glue and stick that piece right there where the two pieces meet, push it in and then I'll cut the end of the scarf to the length I want and push those little pieces to the side to create its mouth. I'm using an oil-based Sharpie marker and I wanted it to have a cute, quirky curvy mouth. You can create your mouth however you want. I thought it would give it a nice cute touch so that then the snowman part is finished to create its base. I'm using this eight inch wire wreath form from Dollar Tree, two and a half come and I'm using the 15 foot garland from Dollar Tree and I'm going to use this whole 15 feet so I'm just going to take the end and feed it.
To start, through the center and wrap it so it stays in place and then I'll take the whole 15 feet and just wrap it completely around the outside, pushing it up to make sure it fits right. and tight so it has a nice full crown shape when it's finished, so when I get to the end I'll just wrap that end piece and tuck it under the bottom and then fluff it to make sure everything is nice and tight and full , so to decorate it a little more I'm using a boxwood package from Walmart and you can pick these up about 98 in a package and I'm just going to take the pieces out of the package until I have as many as I want.
I think you might want to use them and then I'll put hot glue on there and just add them in a wreath shape and just add them sporadically making sure some hang off the sides and making sure some come up. a little bit just to give it a more natural look and once I have all those boxwoods I'm also going to decorate it with some pinecones that I bought at Dollar General and they come 12 in a package for a dollar and they have hangers so I'm going to take them down and you you just take them off and then I'm going to stick the cones where I think they look good, which ends up between those boxwoods and around them and then once I get my cones in place, I'm going to take this outside and sprinkle it with this snow from Santa Claus I found at Dollar General for $75 and honestly, it doesn't take much.
It should last a long time because it doesn't take much to create that snowy effect. This is what it looks like once dry. I think it's absolutely beautiful and to give it some color I'm going to add these berries from this selection of berries from Dollar Tree. And I just took the berries out and cut them up because they're bigger than I really want and yes when you pull them apart you know some of the pieces don't have paint on them, but you can take those pieces and push them. Put it down in a wreath shape so you don't see them and of course you can put the berries on before you put the snow on, but I really wanted that pop of red because I thought it looked really, really cool and once I got these berries. in the wreath is part of it, the base for the snowman is finished and then you can place your snowman right in the center and I absolutely think this turned out so beautiful if you are new to my channel and enjoying the DIYs of Today, I would.
I would love for you to click the subscribe button and bell icon below this video and I would also love for you to follow me on Instagram at Country Lily Decor. I cleaned the jars with isopropyl alcohol and then spray painted them white. I painted with two light coats and then started cutting the wood for my wooden tray that I wanted to place them on. You can use whatever sizes you need, but I used two that were 14 and a half inches long, two that were three and a half inches long, and then I wanted my bottom piece to be recessed inside the tray, so I had to take the width into account. of the short side pieces so that the bottom piece was 13 and a quarter inches by three and a half inches.
I used the miter saw to cut my pieces smaller and thinner and then used the table saw to cut the bottom piece. This was all scrap wood that I already had at home and then I took my pieces and started assembling the tray by pre-drilling my holes and then I put screws on each end of the long pieces to the short pieces and then I pre-drilled my holes in the back. bottom of each long side and then tapped in some finished nails, so I wanted my tray to have a very smooth surface. See, I filled the screw and nail holes with some wood putty, once that dried I sanded it to a smooth finish and then did a gray wash, so I used some gray acrylic paint and the I mixed with water and then painted that over all the wood sides and the bottom of the tray to give it that nice worn gray washed look.
I then stenciled some letters with some Waverly chalk paint. um, I put a sweet home stencil on each side of the tray because I wanted it to be visible from both sides. I'm going to put this on my kitchen table and I want you to be able to see it no matter where you are. I want it to look the same. I cut six small ones. Hearts with the burlap ribbon and then I painted two of those white and added them to the tray on each side just to give it a cute, country feel. I took a burlap ribbon that I already had on hand and that I had previously purchased in dollars. tree I wrapped it around my mason jar twice because I didn't want to be able to see through the tape and then I marked it with painter's tape where I wanted the letters to be and I took the next strip and just lined them up each while I wrote my letters there so that when you wrapped them around the glass jar you could read home on each side no matter where you were, I attached the ribbon to the glass jar using hot glue, making sure the letters aligned in the center on each side, then took some jute twine and attached it to the top of the jar with hot glue just to give it a finished look.
I then placed some artificial flowers that I had purchased at Dollar Tree on each mason. jar and I love how this turned out as a centerpiece for my table. I love the fact that it reads and looks the same from both sides, so if you're standing in my living room or if you're standing in my kitchen, It Looks the Same, you can read Home Sweet Home there for this project. I used two packs of wood planks. They come six in a package. Two canvas frames and a foam board, all purchased at Dollar Tree. I used three different colors of acrylic paint painter's tape. hot glue i used e6000 instead of gorilla glue and also used a pair of pliers and a screwdriver to remove the staples from the frame.
I took the frames apart and took out the staples with the screwdriver and pliers and then broke them apart. the wood I ended up not using these two frames because the ends were joined and I liked the mitered look and it turns out I bought two other frames at Dollar Tree that had the miter cut so I ended up using them instead after doing that. I finished taking them apart, sanded them and prepared to paint them. I take the wood planks and use six from one package and three from another, I place them on the foam board with the grain of the wood facing all in the same direction and then I take a utility knife and trim the two edges of the foam board to that matches the wooden planks.
Then I take four of the nine boards and I take painter's tape and I run it from one corner to the other to make a triangle and then I'm also going to run the painter's tape from the opposite corner to the opposite corner to make a quarter triangle. section of each board once they have dried completely. I run the painter's tape from the opposite corner down making another triangle opposite the previous triangle. and on the lighter grays I paint the opposite color lighter gray again and in front of the dark gray I paint white and in front of the white I paint gray eyes the dark gray and I put two coats of those and I removed the tape before the paint dries. the other five boards and I paint them all dark gray, steel gray, I put two coats on them and I also paint the edges of each one and then I set them aside to dry completely, I take the painter's tape and I run it from the opposite side. corner down creating a triangle opposite the previously painted triangle and I paint thelighter gray opposite the lighter gray and then white opposite the dark gray.
I put on two coats and then remove the painter's tape while the paint is still wet and let them dry completely. I dry and repeat this process until I have four pieces that have one dark gray opposite the white and two light grays opposite each other, apart from the two canvas frames that I had to use. one piece of wood that came in a package at Walmart and that I have had for a while it was the same width and I cut those edges down so I could join them together and make the frame the right size for the barn quilt.
I took the pieces that I had mitered and used e6000 on hot glue to join each side, so I placed each section together to make each side of the frame, the e6000 more of a permanent joint and the hot glue to hold it. lay it down until the seam is set and then I painted each of the sides of the frame white with two coats of semi-gloss white paint I already had on hand, then I glued the boards to the foam board using e6000 and hot glue, I started by using the edge top because it was the straightest edge and I put the four dark gray boards in each corner, one dark gray in the middle and then I put the designs in the other four places left on the board, then I attached each side of the frame with e6000 and hot glue and let it set up overnight.
I'm very satisfied with the result. I think it's very beautiful and I love the colors. Today's video is part of a collaboration organized by heidi sambel at heidi diy. and her co-host lianette on diy beauty by the way, i will have a link to the playlist and their channels in the description box below, so i hope you check out everyone's videos using these two groups that i picked up. On the dollar tree I'm going to start by removing the handles and then I'm going to give it two coats of paint with Waverly chalk paint in the chalk color, so I used two dowels from a package I already had. that I have on hand and I'm painting them in the truffle color, which is a chalk paint made by Waverly and I don't need to paint the entire piece.
I leave the end unpainted because I'm going to end up cutting them to fit. Once the chalk paint has dried completely, I'm going to take a medium gray acrylic paint and I'm going to use a dry brush and I'm just going to put enough paint on the brush and then I'm going to wipe most of it off with a napkin and I'm going to dry them with a brush around both cubes because I want them to look like stone planters so I do that with both cubes and then I also use a lighter gray to go between the darker grays using the same dry brush technique and then I'll also use a white acrylic paint to mix the grays just to give it a finished stone look.
You'll have to let me know in the comments below how you think they turned out. that look like stone planters, I grabbed this dollar tree floral foam square and I'm going to cut it to the right size to fit inside the cubes, but you don't want it to be too full because I pushed the sides of the little cubes outward, like this I marked them with my scissors, but I found that the box cutter worked better, so I just mark it and tear it until it's the right size to fit inside the cube and then I'm going to take these dowels and I'm going to use two balls of different sized styrofoam that I picked up at Dollar Tree, one a little bigger than the other.
I determined where I wanted the largest styrofoam ball to be and simply pressed it down. on the dowel trying to keep it in the center of the styrofoam ball and then once it's all the way through, I'm going to place the smallest of the styrofoam balls on top of the dowel, but don't push it all the way in, you just want to that goes halfway because you don't want the peg to come out of the top of the Styrofoam ball and I'm going to do that with both pegs and then I'm going to look and see with the naked eye how

high

I am.
I want them to rise above the pot and then I'm going to cut off the excess pegs. I found that using pruning shears worked best to cut these pegs evenly and then I used some hot glue. Make sure you have it on the lowest setting because it will melt the styrofoam, but I put some hot glue on the bottom of the styrofoam and just gently placed it in the bucket and kept it there until it was set to stay on. good, straight and safe. I picked it up. this dollar tree reindeer moss as well and I ended up using about two and a half packages.
I had picked up three but I only ended up having to use two and a half and what you're going to do is the best thing to do is break it down once you take it out. I realize that after the first bag, but it still came back, it turned out wonderful, but it would be easier to work with if you tear it up before gluing it and So I just put some hot glue on it and use it in small spaces to at a time and then I just take the reindeer moss and put it there and hold it until it settles.
Now I suggest you put some hot glue. and first some reindeer moss on the bottom of the top of the styrofoam ball because that will hold the ball in place so it doesn't spin around and then just repeat this process for all four styrofoam balls so do that After finishing. When putting the moss in one of the styrofoam balls, I just take my hands and mold it into the styrofoam and then I take the scissors and cut off the excess like you're giving him a nice haircut and I do that for each of the styrofoam balls go, I put some hot glue on the styrofoam that is at the bottom of the cube and took the leftover moss and pressed it on the top of the styrofoam and then around the cube just to give it a little polishing. look and then I'm going to take some hemp rope and hot glue around the top of the cube because I didn't want the little holes to show so I just took the glue and went around the top edge and put that rope on. down and then periodically I put a little bit of glue on and then I made sure to put the hot glue on the last piece of rope for each one and just looked at it to make sure they both looked cohesive and that about the same amount of rope was there. did.
I love how these two DIYs turned out, they are so beautiful, I think they look

high

end for this project. We're going to use this cute little plastic. I'll call it a laundry basket that I bought for a dollar. tree hot glue gun, some hot glue sticks, a white cotton clothesline I bought at Walmart, I think it was about 4.97 for a 100 foot roll and this microfiber mop head I bought at Dollar Tree, so I'll start by hot gluing. the first string around the bottom and I hot glue all the string because I don't want the rope to move up and down once I put the basket together so after I glue the first string all the way down I just I spread and glue as needed just to make sure it stays in place and I'm trying to keep the glue like maybe one on each side so it doesn't slide up and down and I'm going to do that about a third of the time until the laundry hamper, so once it gets about a third of the way up, I'm going to cut off the end of the hot glue that's facing down and then I'm going to detach the mop head, you just slide it off that little center piece and then it has a little tied piece that you just cut and I'm going to repeat the same process with this hot gluing of that first strand.
I took my time because I wanted to make sure all the gray was on the bottom and everything. the white was on top so this part of the project actually took the longest of the entire project just because I wanted to make sure everything was symmetrical and like I said the gray was on the bottom and the white on the the top. because I wanted to look like a nice little fancy stripe that goes down the middle, so we're going to do this two-thirds of the way up and when you get to the end, well, like I said in the other one, just hot glued, you know , every once in a while I thought it was necessary so it wouldn't slide and we'll do it two thirds of the way up and then we'll cut the end piece off, glue it on and then I saw a little piece at the bottom and finally realized that It was coming loose, it was like I missed a piece of hot glue and then I fixed it and then I also went back around the top using the hot glue. at the beginning and then at the end and just twisting it making sure it's nice and tight and I think it's really coming together really well, it's super cute and you'll have to let me know if you would have used gray. and white or you know, I think a twine in the middle or a sizzling rope would be really pretty, it just depends on what kind of decor you have.
I love farmhouse and think this is an elegant piece. I was fixing the bottom when it finally hit me. It came out, so all I had to do was pull it apart, put some glue on it, push it down, obviously I got the glue on that strand when it was coming out and it came loose a little bit, so it's very easy to fix, you could do it if you miss any of these, but I'm going to go all the way around and get to the top and make sure to use my glue around the top edge to make sure it fits nice and secure. don't slide, but like I said, I think this is coming out very elegant.
You'll have to let me know. You know what colors you would have chosen once you get to the end. I'm going to take the mop head, um or we. I'm going to call it string because it's not in my head now and I'm going to hot glue some string and then I'm just going to thread it around the handle until I get to the other side and then I'm going to hot glue it on. Put the piece down and just go back and fluff that just to make sure you know I like the way the handle looks.
Make sure you have enough rope there. I don't want too little sticking out on the small handle. I'm going to do this for both sides of the handles on this little laundry basket and I think it turned out so cute. You'll have to let me know. If you like it, are you going to make one of these? Do you know if? I'm going to use these colors, but it's so cute it's absolutely adorable and I'm also going to use a wooden dowel. I actually bought a pack of these at Walmart as a variety pack and I just pulled out one of those and these really cute fat blue birds, I bought two of these, they're a dollar each at Dollar General and I wanted them to look different.
I didn't want them to look exactly the same, so one looks to the side and the other looks straight. They are absolutely adorable as they are but I removed the top piece and was pleasantly surprised that there was a heart shaped piece of wood underneath, however it was glued on nicely and caused a small hole in the bottom of the side but no no problem, I just put a little bit of wood filler in there, filled it in and let it set completely and then sanded it to a nice smooth finish, so while that's setting up and drying, I'm going to take the same chalk paint as I used in DIY number one and I'm going to give these little birds a coat of paint.
Now my original thought process was that I wanted to leave the little eyes, beaks and legs black and that's why I was being a little meticulous in how I was painting it, but then halfway through it I decided I wanted to paint it all white because I wanted the entire project to be white and I thought it would give it a very nice and elegant feel. nice farmhouse feel, you'll have to let me know in the comments below if you would have left the little eyes and toe spikes in black or if you like it all white.
I think it turned out great, but I think it would have looked great either way, so these little birds took about three coats of paint to cover them and cover all that blue, so now that the wood filler has dried and I've Sanded to a smooth finish, I take the same chalk. I paint and go over the outside edges, the top and inside edges and the bottom of the side and give it about two coats of paint to make sure I have good coverage there and that none of the little lines on the bottom show because I want to make sure I made sure it was solid white and I previously removed the hanger from the back of that sign.
I'll save it for another DIY. I won't need it for this particular DIY. I also paint my peg and here. You see me using my hair dryer just trying to speed up the process a little bit so I can put on the second and third coat and make sure that it's well covered and that on each one of them you don't see any of the blue or any of the lines um. and everything on the side shows through, so once it's completely dried, I'm going to take the peg and this my little rusty one, guys, I'm sorry this thing is so old, my hands are all and not I'm going to cut that plug. in half, half exactly like half, one side is smaller than the other.
I wanted it to be shorter than the other one and I make sure to sand it to a smooth, flat finish because I really need them to be flat for the next part of In thisprocess, I'll use my hot glue gun and glue. I'm going to start with the smallest, shortest peg and glue it to the bottom middle of the bird and let it sit for just a minute. I'm going to let the hot glue set and then I'm going to take a drop of hot glue and go around the peg and the bird just to give it a little more stability, so originally I just wanted to stick them on the tray and that worked, but it wasn't as stable as I wanted him to go.
I didn't want them to move when you move it so I got out some wooden cubes that you can pick up at the dollar tree and it's very easy to fix. I actually liked the way it turned out better with the cubes and I'll show you why I say that in a moment, so with the second bird I'm doing it exactly the same way, putting that glue around the bottom, like this which is where I was saying I was going to put the bird down and it settled, but it moved a little more than I wanted, so I took these little blocks of wood or little cubes of wood and I'm going to glue them together. towards the bottom of the um, I'm not going to call it a sign anymore, I'm going to call it like a little tray and then I'm going to glue it to the side of the peg also to the bottom of the tray and the side of the peg and one on each side and it gives it a lot more stability and you'll be able to see it better on the second bird when I glue it on and then I'll go in after those prepare it a little bit and I'll paint these little cubes white just to blend them in better and they look so cute I didn't want them to look the same way I wanted them to They'll look a little different because I think that just looks so adorable, I love the way this is turning out, so now I'm just gluing the bottom to the tray on the dowel and just giving it a coat because I'm actually going to cover it, but in case you could see it, I didn't want you to see the wood, I wanted it to be all white, so I'm going to take some of the same boxwood that I used in DIY number one and I'm just going to take out the little bits from the end and then of course after all of this dries, I'll glue them to the cubes and the peg around each of the birds and that's why the cubes came. really useful, it actually worked better in my favor that I used them because I could glue the greenery around and stick it to those little cubes and actually, no rhyme or reason as to where I put them, I just put them where I thought they were .
It looks nice and I filled it in around each of the birds and I love how this green stands out against this white. It is so beautiful. The photos really don't even do it justice. It really is really beautiful. I love the way this one. It turned out too, so I'll show you in just a minute the finished product, but I hope you'll let me know in the comments below if you like DIY number one and number two and which one is your favorite, so I'm just filling this out to make sure to have enough vegetation around to my liking because I didn't want some empty spaces, but I didn't want it in those corners either, I just wanted it around the birds, but you know.
It would probably be pretty if you filled it in or you could put flowers in there, you could put any type of floral you wanted or you could have left it without the greenery, but I like the way the greenery showed up on this white, so we're almost done and I could show you how did this turn out? It is very cute. Let me know what you think. These dollar tree signs are like little boxes and I am going to create a large sign. I used these and I wanted mine to be staggered to look like four staggered pieces of wood, so once I lined it up the way I want, I hot glued the four pieces together and then I'm going to turn it over and tighten it. the inside because it has like these side pieces just to make sure it fits nice and tight and then I'm going to give it a coat of paint in my truffle Waverly chalk paint and then I found this letter at Walmart that I had it for a while so I honestly can't remember how much I paid for it.
I'm sure less than two dollars, but this is the first letter of our last name, so I wanted to use this letter, so of course you can use any letter you want. I want and I gave it two coats of paint in the Waverly chalk paint and the mineral color and then once this has completely dried and the sign with the truffle color paint has dried, I'm going to put these two together, like this which I just set up place it on top of the sign um to see exactly where I want it to be placed and line it up and then I'm just going to lift the letter to the side to make sure I put it back exactly where I wanted it and I'm going to secure it with a little bit of hot glue to create a hanger for the sign.
I'm using this burlap ribbon from Dollar Tree and it has a grayish tint so it goes really well with my mineral chalk paint and I just flip it over. until it forms like a loop at the top and then I'm going to turn my sign and my ribbon over and then attach it to the two outer pieces of the sun and then also to the top so it hangs. nice and flush when I hang it on the dollar tree wall mount and I picked it up because I really like the shape of it and I'm going to use some ivory chalk paint made by Waverly and I'm going to Start by just giving this a coat nice and even around the glass candle holder that will become the base of our acorn and I'll set it aside and let it dry completely; two coats are needed. of paint to get good coverage on the top guys I'm going to use this dollar tree bikini top so I'm going to take it out take the string off and put the other one on the side and I'm also going to use one of the wood stems from the little bundles of wood stems you pick up at Dollar Tree and I'm going to peel it and sand it to make it as smooth as possible. can and I'm going to secure that to the top of what will become our lid with e6000 and hot glue and I chose to use the e6000 because if you decide to lift the lid it will sit nice and secure with that stem. and then I'm going to run a bead of glue around it just to secure it, so once the glue has dried, I love the texture.
I really like the way the texture stands out, it gives it a more realistic look. I'm going to use some premium quick dry putty to fill those holes because I want it to have a nice finish and I just push it down into the holes and then I'm going to spread it on lightly because I don't want to wipe it off and then it comes out of the holes, like this I'll just smear it on and set it aside and let it dry, so now that my boat has two good coats of paint with the ivory, I'm going to use some hot polished acrylic as well as some chalk paint of truffle made by Waverly and I'm going to start by just taking my fan brush, dipping it into my warm buffing paint and then wiping off a little bit of the excess. and going around giving it a little more dimension and I'm just trying to make this look a little more realistic, so once I achieve the desired color that I want, I set it aside and let it dry. completely and then I give the lid a good coat of truffle chalk paint and it only takes one coat to give it really good coverage because it's a nice dark brown color and then now that it's dried I take my truffle chalk and only sporadically.
I draw lines around without rhyme or reason, just here or there, wherever I decide to put them and then once I have all the lines I want, I take my dry brush and go over those lines trying to blend them together a little bit. a little bit and then I also take the dry brush and use a little bit of waverly as well as the warm polish just turning it around trying to blend everything together then I decided to take the fan brush and you'll see me struggling a little bit here because the brush was still wet from where I cleaned it before and I'm just trying to blend it to give it a more realistic look and once I finally get the fan brush dry a little bit I just go back and forth with the ivory and the warm polish until I get the desired look and It's turning out so cute, I really like how this one turns out, so I took some leaves from a pig I already had and started painting it in warm polish, but these leaves soaked the acrylic paint so much that you could still see the greenery, so I went back to I went over it with a little bit of chalk paint and let it dry completely, then I went over it again with a little bit of warm polish and it turned out very Well, that chalk paint actually served as a very good base for these sheets, so I'm just going to cut off the end of my little leaves so they all have the same color there, so I just punched out and left that little piece there. so I could paint it and then I'm going to take some hemp rope and create a messy bow and I'm going to glue this, as well as the leaves, to the stem and I originally put the leaves to the side and the bow inside. the front, but then I take the bow off and then I put it more towards where the leaves are because I really like the way they look together and I'm going to secure it with a little bit of hot glue now if you're going to be using this boat a lot, I recommend that you use a clear polish or some type of protector on the outside of the glass just to prevent the paint from chipping or wearing off and that's how it turned out so pretty I really like how This one turned out I bought it at the beginning of the summer, it's just a plastic tray and I gave it two coats of my Waverly chalk paint in white trying to make sure it was even across the width and if it's a little bit. bumpy once it dries you can take some sandpaper and sand it nice and smooth because I'm going to transfer some letters to the tray so I created this.
It will be printed for free on my website and I will link to it in the description. box below if you're interested in going there and getting this free print, it's a regular eight and a half by 11 sheet of paper and I'm just going to use the pencil on the back to transfer this if I don't have this tray you can use it to create any type of sign. Now I use painter's tape and I don't press it very, very hard because I don't want to break the paint, but I use painter's tape to hold it down. place so that when I'm tracing the letters the paper doesn't move now I don't know if I didn't put enough pencil on the back of my paper or if I wasn't pressing hard enough but when I pull my paper up it's barely visible it's visible and I can see the letters but it's barely visible and I have to hold it and move it around a lot in the light to be able to see all the letters so you might want to make sure you put enough pencil marks on the back or use maybe some carbon paper or make sure Press very firmly when you are tracing those letters.
As you can see here, it's barely visible, but it's visible and I used my black oil. Sharpie based on Sharpie, this is a fine tip Sharpie and it goes through each letter and I like to go through and do all the outlines and then come back and fill it in and like I said, you'll see me moving this around a lot because it was very hard for me to see, but once I have everything outlined and completed I let it dry completely and you can leave it as is once you're done with this and it's beautiful but I wanted to create some handles for the sides and of course my handles will be for decorative purposes only.
I wouldn't pick it up by the handles or put things on top of it and lift it with the handles, it's just for decorative purposes so I'm using two pegs, one is slightly bigger than the other, these come in a variety pack from Walmart. I cut two of them four inches long, that's the largest dowel, and then I cut the smallest dowel. I cut four half inch long pieces and just used my handheld miter saw to do that. I used my ruler as a guide for where I wanted to place them, so I placed the wood glue at the one inch mark and the three inch mark so they were evenly spaced and then used hot glue to secure that until the board was installed. glue for wood.
I hold the first piece there until the glue sets really well and then the second piece. I recommend that once you put it in there, you turn it over and make sure it is lined up and straight on the handle. dowel and then hold it in place until the glue sets and then set it aside and make sure the Gorilla glue sets really well before you paint it so of course after I cut it out I made sure to sand the edges rough I gave it a coat of black chalkboard paint and went ahead and marked where I want the bottom of the handle to be and a pencil and just secured it with hot glue like I said this is just for decorative purposes.
I thought it just gave it something extra and I think it's really cute. I love this project. It's very beautiful and I hope you enjoy it too. I hope you like it as much as I do. Incredible grace. How sweet is the sound. I love that song. I found this bottle a while ago and I honestly can't remember if I found it at Dollar Tree or Dollar General. If it was at Dollar General, I didn't pay more than a couple dollars for it. It had this intertwining. bow there, so I went ahead and carefully removed it so it wasn't stuck, I just untied it and set it aside because I'm going to reuse it and give it two coats of my Waverly white chalk paint and move on. and get the inside part of the border because you can see now originally I was going to give it a glaze look, but afterthe two coats of paint and it dried completely, I fell in love with how it looked, it was just the white.
You could decorate this for any holiday. You can leave it outside all year round. I love how it turned out. I'm just going to put back the loop that was originally there. I took a poll on Friday to see if. I wanted to see a farmhouse or farmhouse fall decor and when I started my projects farmhouse was winning and now farmhouse fall was winning so I added a little fall thanks a lot to everyone for participating, it was very very close, it was like 55 45 55 fall, so I'm going to put some fall decorations here for everyone. I'm using these mini orange mums from Dollar Tree, two eucalyptus trees, a floral selection with pine cones and cattails, and then some foxtails that I just cut out of the package. and I just put them up sporadically and this project is complete, you can use it as a charm for any holiday, you can change the ribbon, change the flowers, I love this, I think it's beautiful and it was nothing more than painting, it's a flower. market sign I found this cute sign at Dollar General for a dollar and thought, "Oh, I had a great idea for a cute sign I could make to hang in my dining room.
I'm going to use a basket, a dollar tree wire basket , as well as this round foam dollar tree floral. I'm going to use a 12 inch wooden dowel that you can pick up in a package from Walmart. These two cute little beads that I already had on hand. A string that I already had on hand. and that I cut to four and a half inches long and then also these little rings that I made with some 18 gauge wire. I just formed a circle and I see that it has a little opening on the inside of the rings I'm going to use a little bit of. black chalk paint, my hot glue gun and I.
I didn't show it to you here, but I'm also going to use double sided tape and then also half a dish towel that you can use, you know, any type of fabric. you want to use. I just had this nice bright white one. towel in hand so I cut it in half and I'll use that as well and then also two cup hooks that you can buy in a pack at Walmart so for my frame I cut two pieces of 1x3 for the straps. those are 14 and three-quarter inches long and then I cut six of the 1x3s, those are 28 inches long.
This is a piece of wood that I had on hand, as you can see, some of it is bowed. I'm going to use it too. my orbital sander and my safety glasses, so I start by sanding the ends, sides and edges of all the boards just to give it that nice smooth finish. Once it's all complete I'm going to place it next to my square making sure All the back pieces are flush and then I'm going to measure how far I want my braces to go down at the top and bottom and I chose to go two inches away from the bottom of the frame for both braces, so I simply measure those outside pieces and make my mark on the two outside pieces for both ends so that my braces are evenly spaced, then I pre-drill each of the holes so I can screw each board to the brace and do that. on both ends now you don't have to use wood.
You could certainly use a Dollar Tree sign and some painter's sticks and create the same backing, the same back frame if you wanted to do the project with all Dollar Tree products. I'm also using some satin white interior paint and I'm giving it a good coat on all the sides, the edges and then all the little cracks and it only takes one coat of paint and that covers it really well so one Once I let it completely dry, now I take my dowel and measure exactly where I want my mug hooks to go, so I'm just going to measure from the end support at the top and then I'm also going to measure from the side and the top to make sure each of the mug hooks are in the same place so the little peg hangs evenly and then I'm also going to mark where I want my screws to go so I can hang my basket there so I just take my pen and figure out what little holes I want the screws to hook into for my little basket and I wanted it flush with that bottom bracket so I just pre-drilled the holes for my cup hooks and for those screws and then I'm going to attach the screws, but I'm not going to push them all the way down because I want to be able to hang my little basket on there and then once I have my basket on there, I can take my screwdriver and secure it.
Tighter when I hung the basket there, I realized that the bottom piece actually drooped more than I wanted so I took a jenga block and painted it white and then I'll place it there. rest it there so when I put the basket in there it doesn't fall over until it's a little bit more flush like I want and I secure it with a little bit of wood glue. Now I took some sawtooth hangers from an old picture. which I don't use anymore and I secure them to the back of the top of the frame and now I'm going to start painting my pin, first I take my beads and I put a generous amount of hot glue on each end and secure For my beads you could use wooden beads.
I don't have any, but I really like the way they look and then I paint the mug hooks and all the rings with black chalk paint because I wanted to have a nice cohesive color. and they look great together so once I paint them all I'm also going to paint the beads and the whole peg black and I think it turned out so cute it looks like a little curtain rod of course like I said you could . use the wooden beads or whatever beads you wanted to use, then I remove the little hanging piece at the top and I'm going to paint the back of the sign with the same chalk paint because I knew the little sign was going to be hanging and not I wanted no one to be able to see the cardboard on the back and then I just took my black marker and went around the edge to cover the cardboard on the sides as well and this turned out so cute so then Take my rings and put the chain on one end and then I'm going to hook that ring on the side and you'll also want to put another ring on the other end of the same chain so you can hook it. on your peg and do that on both sides so you have the rings on both ends of the chain on both sides.
Then I took my basket and I wanted the nicer side of the towel to show from the inside of the basket so I'm just going to take that little hemmed edge and I'm going to pin it around the basket and I'm going to do it around the basket until I place the towel exactly where I want it to be placed. and then I'm going to take my double sided tape and put it under the little hem and secure it around the edge on all sides except for a smaller portion on the back. I don't use the tape because I want to be able to tighten the screw once I hang that basket on the side, so I just put it on the back and then leave a little opening so I can tighten those screws.
I cut the floral foam so they fit in the basket without removing the wires and I'm going to decorate it with these pretty pink carnations, some boxwoods and some baby's breath, I took the carnations and baby's breath from the dollar tree and I'm going to cut the little one Remove the stems and then push them down into the styrofoam and then place the styrofoam in the basket and I think it turned out so cute you could change the flowers for any season so the white frame and the black one They look so good together you could decorate.
If you pair it with fall flowers or Christmas decor, you'll have to let me know what you think in the comments below. Glass tumbler that comes from the dollar tree in a four pack and I'm just going to use one of those as a base. a pizza pan from Dollar Tree a pizza pan from Dollar General now this one was four dollars and then the pie pan from Dollar Tree and I'm also going to use two of these candle holders one is longer than the other and they came from Dollar tree I'm also going to use some e6000 hot glue, some rubbing alcohol, some Rust-oleum semi-gloss white paint, and krylon fusion all in one satin black, so I'm going to start by cleaning my glassware with the rubbing alcohol and making sure it's dry before I start painting it and I also cleaned my pants with isopropyl alcohol, but you really have to make sure it dries completely before you paint it, so I'm just going to give it one. good coat of satin black and this is what it looks like when it's been completely painted and I'm going to set it aside and let it dry completely then I'm going to give my pans actually I'm going to give them two coats two light coats so I'm going to put one light coat and then I'll put the second light coat on after it's dry to the touch and then I'll let it sit and dry completely before turning them over so once I apply the two coats how I like to make sure have a good coverage, this is what it looks like and then let it dry completely before flipping it over and painting so just flip them over and over again two light coats to get it right. even coverage and this is what it looks like once they have been painted and dried, now let them dry completely and then I will use a triple thickness clear glaze made by krylon and I already put it on the pan. and let it dry overnight before assembling the three-tier pan, so this is the large pizza pan I bought at Dollar General.
I'm going to turn it over so I can put my bowl on the bottom as a base. I measured the center of the pan to decide where to put the bowl, but I actually find it better if you just put the bowl in there and then measure from the sides to make sure it's nice and centered, so I'm actually going to put the bottom of the bowl, I'm going to glue it to the bottom of the pan, so I just place it there, measure all the way around, making sure I have the same distance on all four sides so I can make I'm sure it's centered because I don't want it wobble or, you know, off center, so I measure things twice just to make sure, so once I make sure it's in place, I take my pencil and draw around the base at the bottom.
So when I pick up the container and apply the e6000 and the hot glue, I know where to put it back, so I'm going to put a generous amount of e6000 in there, this will give it a strong, permanent hold. then I'm going to put a little hot glue in the little places where I didn't put the e6000 just to hold it in place until the e6000 sets up, so once I get my bowl in place I go back and measure. It's very quick to make sure it's centered before the hot glue cools and then you want to press firmly and make sure the hot glue has dried before you turn it over, so now it's time to assemble the candle holder so that we can place our second pan, so I'm going to put the bottom of the candle holder on top of the large pizza pan and again use the same process by measuring it to make sure it's in the center, taking my pencil and drawing on the outside so I know where to place it once I put the glue on it so I go ahead and attach this candle holder this is actually the longest candle holder I had two one was longer and the other one was taller than the other so this is the longest candle holder high and I'm applying the bottom of That back to the top of the pizza pan and then I'm going to make sure it's centered and pressed firmly so the hot glue cools and stays in place.
Now the second tier is going to be the Dollar Tree pizza pan and Since my candlesticks, the tops are the same size and are the same width, I'm just going to use my other candlestick to measure the bottom of the second pizza pan so I know where place it when you place it. on top of the other chandelier, so I'm just using it for measurement. If you don't have the same candle holders, be sure to measure it before gluing it to the large pizza pan, so once I have it in place, I'll do that. Go ahead and place my e6000 on top of the candlestick as well as the hot glue and then place the bottom of the tray on top of that candlestick and then for the third tray, I don't put the candlestick in there yet.
I'm just taking my measurements to make sure I have it centered on the top of the second pizza pan and then I can take the top of my candle holder and measure the bottom of the cake pan before placing the candle holder in both pans. So now I'm going to turn the cake pan over so you can see the bottom and measure the top of the candle holder to that pan as well using the same process, just measuring the center marking it with a pencil before doing so. put the glue on so if you're enjoying this video be sure to give me a thumbs up and if you're new here go ahead and hit that subscribe button so you don't miss any of my future videos.
If you like how this tray turned out, let me know in the comments below. Once I have it fully assembled, I'll show you how I decorated it for fall and stay tuned at the end of this video because I have an extra dollar tree. for you so now I'm just going to place my candle holder the base on the bottom of the um excuse me I put the glue on the bottom of the candle holder and then I'm going to attach it to the moldfor pizza and then the same process with the pie pan now. You want to make sure that once you assemble it, you let it sit completely overnight before decorating.
You want the e6000 to set up nice and secure so it doesn't fall apart and that's how I decorated it. fall, let me know what you think in the comments below, I rounded it up and then made sure it was the shape I wanted and I'm also going to use some of this cork tape that I bought for a dollar. tree and I actually bought three packages of this so I'm going to secure the outside of the wire wreath form with the ribbon so just put a little bit of hot glue on the end and then secure it to the actual wire so it doesn't move and then once that's set up, I'm going to wrap the outside of the wreath shape with this ribbon, overlapping it slightly, so that it's about halfway up the previous section of the ribbon, overlapping it and I'll do that around the entire shape of the crown.
And I use a little glue when I get to the rib sections of the pumpkin, but the rest of the part I just wrap it around and make sure it's nice and tight, and if you run out of tape, just secure that end and then the next one begins. tape with hot glue so here I just had to secure that with a little bit of hot glue and start the next tape and then when I get to the top I'm actually going to go down, I'm on top and then under and around like this which I can secure it to the stem and then I'm going to hot glue it there and then I'm going to wrap the ribbon around the stem overlapping it just like I did with the outside and then I'm going to secure the end with hot glue and then I'm going to Repeat this process on all the ribs, now the stem has a small hole at the top and i left it there on purpose and i will show you why in a moment but this is what it looks like once its completely covered with the tape and it fits a little less than one of the packages of cork tape.
Now I'm going to use some of this floral wire that You can also get at the dollar tree my wire cutters and then the flowers that I'm going to put on this pumpkin. I'm going to use two of each, so that's two of the cattails, two of these beautiful orange sunflowers. I love that color so fall and two of the fall bouquets that have little brown cat tails and two little pine cones and a cotton ball so I'm going to start fluffing the cattails a little bit and then I'm going to do that. You see me put it in the second rib, but I take it out and put it in the bottom rib of the pumpkin so it's in the bottom section there and then I'm going to take the orange sunflowers and go into the second rib. of the pumpkin, pushing them down a little lower than the cat's tail so that the cat's tails stick out a little more and then I will place the fall bouquet on the third rib of the pumpkin, repeating the same process pushing it a little further lower than the cat's tail. orange sunflowers and then I'm going to do the exact same thing on the opposite side, I'm going to put on the cat tails the sunflowers and then the fall bouquet right there on that third rib, then I'm going to secure them together with the floral wire and then secure that to the top of that stem so that it is actually attached to each other as well as to the stem at the top through that little hole.
Now, because they're stacked shorter than the others, there's going to be some end pieces on each side that I'm going to go back and secure with the floral wire so they stay really nice together and I'm just going to make sure it's nice and tight and then when I'll fluff it, I see some end pieces showing up so I make sure to secure them as best as possible. Okay, with the floral wire, now it's time to make the bow and all this ribbon that I bought at the Dollar Tree, this beautiful orange that goes great with the sunflower and then this green that also goes great with the greenery and the flowers. well, and then to give it a little bit of color, these beautiful leaves and acorn ribbon and these are all nine feet, they all have wired edges and then my absolute favorite is this beautiful red truck with pumpkins that is so cute, so for start making the bun I made.
I don't measure this, I just eyeballed it, but I folded it into a small loop and then make the bottom loop about the same size as the top one by holding it in the center. I go over the right side making a loop and then I bring that to the center that's going to be how I'm going to do all these arcs so the orange one I wanted to be at the bottom so it's going to be a lot bigger than the rest and again I just looked at this just to be sure. I had the right size between the flowers to cover all of those stems and I'm just going to make a loop over the bottom loop around the right side and then bring it back to the center and so the orange is going to be at the bottom and then I'm going to use the same process to make the bow with the leaves and the acorns because I wanted to place it between the orange and green bows, so once I have it together I'm going to put the Leave the ribbon leaves on top of the orange and then put that green on top, press it very tightly in the center, fluff my bun a little, make sure they are even on each side and I'm going to secure it with a chanel. stem making sure it's very tight and secure and then I'll take it and attach it to the wreath and thread the Chanel stem through that hole at the top where the pumpkin stem is and the other side through the bottom where the flowers are together and then I'll make sure it's nice and tight by twisting it and then once it's nice and tight I cut off the excess Chanel stem to cover that Chanel stem and give it a finished look, I take a little bit of the green ribbon, I fold it into thirds and then I put it through the stem of the pumpkin and secure it with a little bit of hot glue and that gives a nice finished look to that bow, so now to use it.
I'm going to run the pretty ribbon on the truck through the center of the pumpkin wreath shape and what I did was leave the two ribs, as well as the ribbon on the top of the two ribs so you can see the truck and the pumpkins . and then I'm going to run it through each side, going down, down, down, so that it's really underneath on the outside edges of the wreath shape and then I just pull it towards the center to even it out and then I'm I'm going to secure that with a little hot glue on the back of the wreath to the actual ribbon on both sides and this is how it turned out.
I think this is very cute and so fall. I really like how this calendar turned out. I picked at the dollar tree and I actually picked one of the um it was actually November and then I'm going to use this sign that also came from the dollar tree in the summer and I'm just going to trace take that off and cut this off and I love this said, start each day with a grateful heart and we should really start each day with a grateful heart and I'm going to secure that to the sign with mod podge and then just press all the buttons.
Set the little folds aside and let it dry completely before placing it on your wreath form, so I'm going to use one of the dollar tree round wire wreath forms, some of the same green floral wire and then please. Ignored the eucalyptus, I decided not to use it because it was a little boring, so I won't use the eucalyptus, but I'm actually going to use three of those fall bouquets, two of the burlap sunflowers, two of the fall berries and then two of these foxtails, so I'm going to start by putting the foxtails in front of each other lining them up and then I'm going to take the berries, I'm going to put them slightly lower than the foxtails in front of each other and I have to cut them in the fall.
We branch downwards so that the stems do not protrude on the opposite side of each other. These are so cute with a cotton ball, the pine cones and the cat tails and then once I cut them to size I'll put them on the opposite side. each other on the floral bouquet and then I'm going to secure it with my floral wire, so once I line them up in the center, I'm going to secure it very tightly with the floral wire, so I wrap it around a few times making sure it's nice and secure, like this that I'm just lining this up making sure everything is even and then securing it and once I wrap it around the little excess, once I twist it, I just tuck it into the stems of the floral bouquet and then once I get it nice and secure.
I'm going to bend it trying to get it into the shape of the crown side, so here I'm just going to bend it trying to make sure I can make it. the size of that side of the wreath shape, then I'm going to take this burlap ribbon that also came from the dollar tree and I'm going to thread it through the wire shape and use my hot glue to secure it to the actual shape. wire so it doesn't come apart so just put it on the wire and then put it on the edge and fold it over and secure it and now I'm going to wrap just half of the wreath with this burlap ribbon. slightly overlapping each section about halfway, so I'm just going to go around wrapping it and about half of the original wrap and I'm going to complete that process about halfway into this wreath shape and I have a little bit of excess left.
I'll finish and show you what I do with it, but it takes this whole roll of ribbon for this project, so once I get to the end, I'll secure it again with hot glue to the wreath shape and to the other part of the ribbon there and then the excess. I'm going to repeat that process on the opposite side, like that little middle section opposite, but I start with that by wrapping it, but before I wrap it completely, I'm going to put my flowers in there, so secure the first section, then place my flowers on top and then I'll wrap the center section of those flowers with this burlap ribbon and that will cover those stems, but it will also give me a place to put more flowers, so once I have them there, I secure them again with a little bit of hot glue and then I'll fluff my flowers, make sure they're nice and pretty where I want them, make sure my sign fits in there and then I put a generous amount of hot glue on the back of this, making sure it sits nice and secure on top of that burlap tape and I just put it in place and let it set up Now these burlap sunflowers I just took them off the stems and then I cut the bottom pieces flush so I could hot glue them to the burlap that I put between the flowers so that The burlap served two purposes: it covered the stems but also gave me a place to put these beautiful sunflowers, etc.
On the second bouquet of sunflowers, I took out one of those and put it in the center at the top just to cover that hole in the calendar and then I'm going to remove two pinecones from one of those other floral bouquets. and secure those to each side of the sunflower just to give it a little decorative touch, then I'll take the three remaining burlap sunflowers and hot glue them to the side of the burlap ribbon to give it a nice finish. and that's how it turned out, it's so pretty, guys, if you have a favorite, let me know.
For project number one, I'm using this little plastic cube that has lots of beautiful little details. This came from Dollar Tree and me. I'll also use my white Waverly chalk paint and give it two good coats on the inside and outside of the cube, including the bottom as well, so once that's completely dry, I'll grab my black board. paint and give this a nice glazed look I apologize and I tell you I have a bit of a cold so I sound a little stuffy I'm really sorry please forgive me now I'm just going to take the black board paint and paint the top edge as well as the tops of the handles on this little cube and like I said it's got a lot of beautiful little details here so underneath the little handles it has like a little rectangular piece that makes it look like the little handles are attached to the cube and I go ahead and paint them black as well as the top of the small handles, I leave the handles silver because I like the way it looks and this is what it looks like once it's completely dried and I'll take a closer look at them of those little details under the handle, which are so cute, and I got a little bit of white paint on the little silver portion, so I just scraped it off.
I take the nail off and clean it really good and it just comes off, so now that everything is completely dry I'm going to put one of these little stickers that you can pick up at Dollar Tree and I chose the word grateful. I went ahead and cut it off. I'm just going to peel it off and place it on the front center of the hub and just push it down nice and flat. I wanted to go ahead and protect all of my paint because I'm going to decorate this with some flowers and I didn't want to scratch with chalk paint, so I go ahead and use my matte mod podge and go all over the outside and inside of this little cube and I make sure that dries completely, so while that dries I'm going to go ahead and paint two of these cute pumpkins from Dollar Tree and my Waverly chalk paint in the color celery.
I'm a little obsessed with this color right now. I love this celery. color so I'm going to give them two good coats of paint and let them dry completely and of course since I got the little flowers off the top I need to make little stems so I'm going to use two ofthese little wooden ones. I removed the wooden stems from the dollar tree and they were a little taller on pumpkins this size than I wanted, so I took my box cutter and simply cut the top of the small pumpkin until it reached the desired depth where I could push.
The little stem down and I thought you knew the little stem would look appropriate for this size pumpkin so I go ahead and pull it out and push it down to make sure it's the right size before I take my hot glue and secure the small. with the stem facing down, you don't have to put hot glue in there, but I did it just because I don't want them to fall off the little pumpkin, so I do it for both of them and now it's time to decorate this cute little pumpkin. cube now that everything has dried, so I use some dollar tree floral styrofoam and just put it in there.
I didn't hot glue it because I want to be able to use this cube all year round and I didn't. I want to use it just for flowers, but I'm going to put those little pieces of Styrofoam in there and I'm going to use some of these burlap sunflowers and these little fox tails. They both came from the dollar tree and I just cut them. I took them out of the bunches and just placed them where I thought they would look great, so I used a bunch of foxtails and two of the little sunflower bunches and I'm also going to use two of these little orange ones.
Pumpkins from Dollar Tree and I loved the color of them, but I didn't like the plastic stems, so I took some hip rope and hot glued it around those little plastic stamps to give it a little bit of a look. more realistic. I'm going to use two of these little fall picks from Dollar Tree and it also has these cute pinecones, berries and pumpkins in there and I'm just going to place one on each side so I wanted my pumpkins to stand up really nice so you can see them, so I put an extra little piece of styrofoam in there and of course I wanted my little celery colored pumpkin to be the little display piece and I wanted it to stand up much taller so I use a piece of styrofoam insert. wood from a previous DIY.
I used the outside of that little box that came from the dollar tree. This is just the inside part and I'm going to place it on my styrofoam inside the cube so the little pumpkin can sit nice and pretty and then I'm also using two of my little white pumpkins that I made in a previous DIY because I liked the way these colors look together and once I place them and To get an idea of how I want everything to turn out, I'm going to take out all my little pumpkins and take some raffia and push it down to keep those little Styrofoam pieces from move around, but it will also cover them and give it a nice finished look and a nice fall look and then I'll put my little pumpkins back in there and show you in a moment how pretty this little project turned out.
It's so beautiful, I love it. You'll have to let me know in the comments below if you enjoyed this project. It's so cute, I really love it and I hope you do too. I love the fact that you can use this cube. all year round and you don't have to use it just as a centerpiece or floral arrangement, a dollar tree sign. I went ahead and grabbed some sandpaper and tried to remove most, if not all, of the glitter from the top. of the sign that said fall and I'm going to use my painter's tape and tape around all the little pieces of tape because I don't want to get paint on them and I like the color of the little tape, it's like a little burlap. color and once I have all those little pieces of tape there, I'm going to take my white Waverly chalk paint and I'm going to give it two coats of paint on the entire side part, including the outside edges, because once you hang this, you'll be I can see them and I also get in between all the little sections, so I went ahead and covered those little pieces of burlap ribbon, now that it's dried and you can see I've got all the little inside edges.
I'm going to use another section of the same calendar and I chose to use the month of October with this beautiful colorful pumpkin and these little birds and I'm just going to line them up on top of my side to try to make sure that the sign is very straight and you don't want to push the ribbon too much down because you don't want to break the image when you remove the tape because you will have to tape it down and go back up a lot. and you don't want to destroy your photo, so I lined it up where I wanted it and I'm just tracing the top section of the image because once I cut it out I want everything to line up really nice on this sign. in small sections, so you know, secure it lightly with the tape turned over, trace the outline, cut it out and then I'm going to place it so I can line up the next section and make sure you like the birds and the The little flowers and the pumpkins line up and push them over to the little edge of the next section and then I'll repeat the process putting a little bit of tape there to secure it so I can turn it over and trace that section. and then remove it and cut it and I'll do it until I have no more of the little calendar image left, so obviously it won't cover the whole sign that I'm Okay because I like the shape of the top and bottom of this little sign and it will I'm going to give some paint so it blends a little better with the top and bottom of the sun, so I used the chalk paint for two purposes, so I went ahead and painted behind all the little squares to so you could see what the side previously had there because the little calendar is a little thin and you don't want to be able to see it.
Go through it and see what was already there and I also use it as a primer for the tops so that when I paint it with my acrylic paint it blends in really well so once I cut all those out and everything is fine. and exactly how I want it, I'm going to use my apple barrel acrylic paint in the warm beige color and I'm going to give it two good coats on the top of the side as well as on the bottom that The little calendar doesn't cover and you'll have Let me know in the comments below if you would have left it white or you like the warm buff color better.
I thought this would give it a nice finished look because this little warm color is similar to the color of the pumpkin stem in the picture, so now that it's all dry, I removed the little pieces of tape from the tape, it's time to modify podge and I'm going to use my mod podge and matte um to put the little calendar pieces in there and I make sure I have nice, even brush strokes and I don't like too much excess glue, but you want to make sure you have enough for the whole little piece of paper.
I'm going to stay there now, just take my hand and remove any little wrinkles that might be there and then I go ahead and take my mod podge and run it over it just to protect that photo and then if you need to take any. The excess can be removed and this is how it looked once it was completely dry. I love this little sign so I'm going to start using e6000, hot glue, and two boxes of the spinning tower kit you can buy. From the dollar tree I'm going to take two of those pieces of wood and I'm going to put a little bit of e6000 on the side piece in the middle and hot glue on each side and then I'm going to press down firmly on the wood. block at the bottom so it's one full piece at the bottom and then one piece going up the side, making sure it's flush so it looks like a bit of beer, so one full piece at the bottom and then the other piece on the side flush with that and I'm going to do that.
I'm going to make 23 sets of these so I'll take 46 pieces so it takes a little more than one box and I'll set them all aside. and make sure the glue sets really well so it's nice and secure, then I'm going to use this bicycle wheel crown ring that's about 14 inches that I picked up at the dollar tree. I was so excited when I found this. I'm going to turn it around so the back of the bike wheel is facing you and the front is on the table, so I'm going to do the same process with the e6000 and the hot glue and I'm going to put that on the outside of this wire wreath shape and making sure the solid block is at the bottom of the table and the side piece comes up so that when you turn it over it's nice and it's one piece on the outside.
I take my next piece and place it flush with the bottom corner of the original piece that I glued and I'm going to repeat this process across the entire wreath shape using the e6000 and the hot glue that the e6000 will give me. it's a more permanent secure hold and the hot glue just to keep it in place until the e6000 sets when I get to the end of the last two just um and you'll see here that my hot glue gun wasn't hot enough on the Al beginning, I had to go back to the first two, so make sure you have the glue gun on high and that it's nice and warm before you start and the last two pieces that I just used, they just came apart, which gave it a uniform amount. and you see, because it's not going to be completely flush on the last two, there's just not enough room to use because I actually made 24 and there wasn't enough room to use the last one, so I just spaced those two evenly. and this is what it looks like on the back, so when you flip it over you have a flush piece on each one, right there on the end.
Now I'm going to use some wooden dowels that you get from the craftsman's square section. at Dollar Tree, these are the perfect size for this. I'm going to use e6000 and hot glue again to secure them on the cart wheel axles and I originally put it on the wood and then pressed it onto the wire, but I do. I think it's a little easier if you actually put glue on the wire, the metal part and then just push the wood down. I take my finger guard and wipe off the excess glue so it doesn't drip and make sure I place the wood.
Place a peg flush with the falling tower blocks so it's flush at the bottom and it will leave a gap at the top, but that will give us room to make our little wheel base, so here you'll see me adding it to the actual metal part and then put the wooden dowels in and make sure you let the glue set really well before moving on to the next one so they don't come out, so now you've created a perfect little circle in the middle and I'm I'm going to turn it over and put some extra hot glue around the wreath form as well as the spindles, just to give it a little extra stability and make sure the pegs and rattle blocks don't come off, so once the glue has hardened.
I'm going to use the circle from this little puzzle piece set that you pick up at the dollar tree and it's a little bit smaller so I'm going to take some hemp rope and hot glue around the little wooden circle and like that Take Me twice to go around it, so I'm going to hot glue it and then I'm going to hot glue it around one more time on top of the hemp rope to give it enough room to fit nice and snug between those. studs and now it's going to fit perfectly and I love how this wagon wheel is turning out so I take the little center piece with some black chalk paint and I paint it on both sides including the hip rope and now I'm going I painted the wagon wheel with Waverly chalk paint in the truffle color and I make sure to go down between each of those folds and on the back because when you set this up or hang it you'll be able to see them from the back. pieces and I want to make sure everything is the same color, so now that the chalk paint has dried, I'm going to secure the little wheel base with e6000 and hot glue so that once you attach the center piece, you can finish completely. beautiful just the way it is and you're less than five bucks on this, but I want to embellish mine a little more and make it a little more realistic, so I'm using some of these pearl gems, their little gemstones, their little stickers and I bought them at Dollar General for a dollar and I gave them a good coat of black chalk paint and I thought they would make perfect little nail heads so I'm going to put them on the end of each dowel and try to put it in the center of the rattle block and these are so cute they really give it something extra special and I'm also going to put them in the center of the wheel base so they look like little bolts and this is just spinning. absolutely adorable I really love how this project is turning out so once I put them there and in the center I'll show you how I decorated it and you can decorate it however you want and all the pieces that I put in.
There will be pieces here that I can remove and change throughout the seasons and holidays and those little stickers stuck very, very well. I didn't even have to use hot glue on them so now I'm going to take some of this beautiful orange ribbon that I got from the dollar tree and create a nice fluffy bow and I'm just going to create it by making two loops on each side so originally I was going to make an orange one and then the beautiful red one. truck with the pumpkins, but it wasn't as fluffy as I wanted,so I create another orange and I'm going to secure them with a chanel stem and again it still wasn't as fluffy as I wanted so I'm going to create another orange bow to go on top and I just secured it in the middle with a piece of orange ribbon, I folded it in thirds, I wrapped it and hot glued it together and now I'm just going to put it together. to my bun in the opposite direction so it's nice and full and fluffy and I'm going to attach it with a little bit of hot glue and then I'm going to secure that bun to the wagon wheel with the chanel stem, so once I get it down and fluff it up nice and pretty and make it nice and round and fluffy and this is so cute you could put Christmas bows you could put the buffalo check it's really pretty you know you could change this I'm going to use the welcome word from the three word pack you can pick up at Dollar Tree and I'll secure it with floral wire so I can change it if I want now I'm just showing you how.
You can create some flowers to go around the wagon wheel for each of the seasons, so these are two foxtails and two of the fall flower bouquets that I simply gathered together with floral wire, folded them and then placed them in the center from the bow now I choose to remove the flowers, you will have to let me know in the comments below leave me a comment, let me know if you like it with or without the flowers. I take out the flowers because I just love this wagon wheel and I really didn't want to take anything away from it.
I really wanted to be able to see it so let me know if you like it with or without flowers, so now I'm just going to secure the Word down with my floral wire, I just run it through the e and the o and just twist it on the back and I think this is turning out absolutely adorable. You'll have to let me know if you like this video, please make sure you give me a big thumbs up, it really helps support my channel and now I'll show you, once I have it secured, what it looks like without the flowers and it's absolutely gorgeous.
I really like this and I'm going to remove the three sides of the measuring stick and I'm just going to use those three signs and to help with the process I used my hair dryer to loosen the glue so I don't damage these pieces too much when removing them because once Once you put this piece together you will be able to see the back of these signs. I'm also using this nice thick mdf sign from Dollar General for two dollars and I'm going to go ahead and use my hair dryer again to loosen. that glue so I can remove these stickers from the back, then I'll take some 100 grit sandpaper and you can get a pack of different grit sandpaper from Dollar Tree.
I'm using 100 grit sandpaper so I can get it in the middle. all the letters because it had some rough edges and I wanted to have a nice smooth finish and to get all that excess glitter off this side I used my hair dryer again to loosen the glue so I could easily sand away all the glitter so it's nice and smooth, so I'm going to take my Waverly chalk paint in the colored ink and I'm going to paint this entire sign except the front. I take my time and get into everyone. of the letters, this takes a little time, but I really enjoy painting.
I find it very relaxing, it only takes one coat and you get really good coverage, this is what it looks like once the paint has dried and I tried to Make sure you don't put too much paint on the front of the sign because I'm going to paint the s, n and w with my Waverly chalk paint in white. I'm not going to paint the snowflake because I'm going to do something a little different with the snowflake, so this requires two coats of white paint and if it drips a little or if it comes out, just wipe off the excess, let it sit. dry and then you can continue.
Going over the paint spots again with a black marker, I painted the three signs with two coats of Waverly chalk paint in white and went ahead and got the front and back, I think these are going to make the doll Perfect snow cap because I love the design on the top and bottom. I'll also use three of the spinning tower game pieces that you can buy at Dollar Tree and give them a coat of paint with Waverly Chalk Paint in the color white like Well, here's what these signs look like once the two coats are done.
They have dried so they have very good coverage of the chalk paint, so for the snow sign to cover the snowflake I am using a piece of buffalo plaid scrapbook paper from the hobby lobby and just line it up where I want the design to be on the snowflake and then I'll turn the sign over and use my pencil to trace around the snowflake trying to make sure it fits in all the slots because there are a lot of them. of little pieces there now you want to leave a little bit of excess on each of the sides where the letter n and the letter w are so you can create the snowflake design to cover that, so I just saved a piece of what I already I cut to hold it over those places so I can trace it and have the same design on the end and the w and then once I trace it again I'm going to cut it with my scissors and then I took My pencil and I wanted the s to stand out more than just blend in with the end, so I just draw the outline of the s and then I'll go over where I put my pencil marks with a black oil-based marker and then I do that.
Go ahead and go down a little bit at the end and the w in case you can see that once I put the scrapbook paper in there, to apply the scrapbook paper I'm going to use a matte mod podge and put a nice even coat on on top of the sign and then I'll put the paper on there and make sure there are no wrinkles or folds and then I'll put a nice even layer on top of my scrapbook paper to seal it. Now I let mine dry for several hours before removing the excess paper and because there are many ridges and different shapes in the snowflake and there are very small spaces, I am using a nail file to go between all those ridges , now I just use my nail file. going in one direction, try to be careful not to rip or tear the scrapbook paper and I will go around the entire snowflake until I get a nice smooth finish.
I'm using three of these wooden snowflake stickers from Dollar Tree and I took the foam sticker part off the back and accidentally tore one off so I thought well I'll just stick it back on when I put it together but actually It worked in my favor. Everything happens for a reason and I will show it. What do I mean? At one point when I put these snowflakes in there it was such a blessing that they broke so I painted each of the snowflakes right in front and between all the little grooves with the Waverly white chalk paint and this just took one coat and then once I have them all painted, excuse me, I'm going to set them aside to dry and then I'm going to use some quartz paint stir sticks, you can get them at Lowe's in a 30 pack for a dollar, short the rounded tip and then I'm going to hold this up in front of my sign to see how long I want this piece to last because this is going to be the brim of the hat so I go ahead and do this for each of the signs and I cut three of the sticks to crafts, so this is completely optional, but I didn't want mine to have such pointy edges, so I took some sandpaper and just rounded those corners, then I'll take the craft sticks and place them on top of the sign to determine where I want let the brim of the hat be and then I'm going to take my pencil and draw on top of those craft sticks so that when I'm ready to paint I know not to paint under them. lines, so I'm going to paint the top of the signs and these craft sticks with my Waverly chalk paint and ink and I'm going to paint the front and the back of these signs because again you'll be able to see the back of the sign a once it's all together and I'm just trying to keep the same angle in the back and in the front and as you see me taking this off the camera it's because I'm using my hair dryer to dry it. that when I put it back on the table I don't smudge or stain that paint and if I use my hair dryer on the table the craft sticks will blow away so I'm going to paint the top of these signs for the hats. and then I'm going to paint each of the craft sticks completely on the front and then on the back just the two outer edges because you'll be able to see parts of that once you apply this to the sign, so I'll just release it.
I handed the faces to the snowman, if you don't feel comfortable doing that you can always print an image and trace or transfer it there. I'm using an ultra fine Sharpie marker and my oil based Sharpie marker, and I'm also using pure orange folk art acrylic paint for the nose, so I initially chose the ultra fine to go to outline all the pieces of her face and then I filled in the eyes with the oil base, but I like it. the thickness of the oil based marker and I thought it would make it stand out more so after I paint the nose I go over the eyebrows and mouth again with the oil based marker just because I think it gave it more pop and then I go , once the paint dries on the nose, I trace the outline of the nose with the fine tip and then draw a couple of lines on each of the noses just to make it look more like a realistic carrot. and then once I'm done with that, I'm going to hot glue the edges of the hats together and I'm going to do that for all three pieces and then I'm going to attach the snowflakes to the top of the hat and this is how breaking the snowflake worked in my favor because the top of the smaller snowman's hat wouldn't have greeted the full snowflake, it would have stayed outside the top of the hat, so it worked absolutely perfect, so I'm going to take the three falling tower pieces and I'm going to glue them to the back of the snow sign and just make sure to line them up so you can't see the falling tower pieces from the front of the sign So while I do it I maintain, I'm just determining where I want each of the snowmen to be and making sure you can't see those tower pieces from the front.
Now I go ahead and hold the snowman up because the bottom edges aren't straight and then I hold the sign up to make sure that as I'm putting them together that they're straight and that it can stand up freely. I go ahead and place the two outside snowmen first so that when you get ready to put the one in the center. I can leave the same amount of space on each side of the snowman to make it look a little more cohesive and I love how this project turned out. I think it's so cute, so adorable.
I really enjoyed making it and I hope you enjoy it too, let me know in the comments using some of these dowels from this assorted wood dowel piece from Walmart and I picked five dowels of the same size and placed them until I had the desired shape. for my star and I'm just going to hold that middle piece down and mark it with my pencil so I know where to put my glue after I glue these two outer pegs together, so I'm just going to overlap one on top. from the other and just glue it down and then I can glue that piece straight and then to attach the other two pieces I would just put a dot of glue on each end of the pegs and then cross them once I have them in place .
I'm going to wrap each end of the star where the pegs meet with some hip rope or you could use jute twine or jute cord or whatever you have on hand and I'm just going to hot glue it to the back. of the star and then I'll wrap it around until I get to the end and once I get to the end I'll just put that rope on top of itself and tighten it. I'm going to do that for the five points. of the star and I'm also going to do that thing where all the pins meet each other where they connect once I have them all wrapped up and the glue has set, I took my hair dryer and went over the entire piece to get some.
The loose strands of glue hanging from there just made them disappear, so it would have a nice finish to paint. Again I used some Waverly chalk paint in white and painted the entire front of the piece. and back including the hemp cord to be able to place some flowers in the middle of the star. I'm using a white burlap ribbon and I'm just going to glue it to the center part of the star and just wrap it around and hot glue it to itself and I'm going to take two little strands of the burlap ribbon. Once I have it in place, I'll decorate it with some of these white fern bouquets from Dollar Tree and I've already used a couple. from the branches or leaves, I just cut the leaves off and since I had already used some of them, I only had four of the full size leaves and then a couple of the smaller ones, so I put on the full size leaves. on the top three parts of the star and then on the bottom I used those smaller branches and just secured all of that in place with a little bit of hot glue.
Once everything is in place, I'll use a few pieces from the holly bouquet. from the dollar tree and I'm going to place the greenery on the outer parts of the star and then I'm going to go in and add some red berries where I think they look good and then I'm also going to addsome pinecones now that they are hollow. The bouquet only came with three pine cones so I had to use an extra pine cone in my stash to have four pine cones in there and then I'll add a couple more berries and I think this project is so beautiful.
I love the way the red and green and then the brown and pine cones really pop out of this white star wood I had piled up in my store and I'm going to go ahead and cut it to 25 inches long. and 16 inches tall and then I'm going to take my orbital sander and sand down all those rough edges so it's nice and smooth. Now I know that not everyone has access to wood or is not comfortable with power tools, so you could certainly use foam board for this project if you are not comfortable with power tools or if you just don't have any scrap wood.
I debated whether or not I wanted to stain or paint it, but this has been out of my reach. I bought it for a while so it was a little faded so I decided to go ahead and paint this with my krylon chalk finish paint and I'll leave a link to that in my description box below if you're interested and I painted the outside edges and I gave the front of the sign two coats of course allowing it to dry in between and then I wanted to distress it a little more so I'm going to use my art deco chalk paint this one is gray and I'll have a link to that in my description box below if you're interested too and then a nice kind of stiff bristle brush and then I'm going to get really distressed because I'm emphasizing where the grain of the wood is, those little knots that were there and then I'm going to leave let it dry and I'm going to use one of the wall stickers from Walmart for 2.98 guys.
I got really excited when I saw this, so I picked it up and then I'm going to put it up. I'm on my side to decide where I want to put it and I want mine to stay there permanently. I don't want it to come back so I'm going to use a mod podge to let it go so it was easier for me. just put the truck where I wanted it and then I'll fold each side up and apply my mod podge underneath so this is me trying to make sure it's straight and not twisted or crooked and then of course you have everything.
These folds where it was packaged so I tried using my Cricut scraper and then I thought I was going to ruin the sticker so I found it was easier to use my hand and then put an extra mod podge where those pieces were folded so if you know a better method let me know in the comments below because I just put a bunch of extra mod podge in there trying to make sure I can get those creases out and then it comes with this nice truck, a truck that is the second time I've said it came with this cute tree to put on the back of the truck and then I'm going to put peace and joy on top of the sign and to seal everything up and also to make them look less like stickers and more like they were drawn or painted on there.
I'm going to go over each of these pieces with my matte mod podge so it takes a little bit of that shine using the matte mod podge and you guys I love this sign it came out so much better than I thought it's so beautiful I'm going to show you in just Wait a minute how it looks with all that mod podge. dry this is so beautiful thank you for watching please take care and I will see you next time
