dollar

tree

care

signs

. I ended up cutting about an inch off each end and then I'll use my same wood blocks to create the frame so I'll

just

glue them around and then I'll paint the actual board piece with uh like I remember if it was paint from Home Depot or Lowe's but I'm just going to be using white paint and again you guys can use your vinyl or decals or rub off transfers, but I'm going to handwrite a little bit, you know, from scratch, does it make sense to handwrite from scratch and then I have a love decal here that you'll see ?

They are also like Valentine's Day packages. They come in three. They say different words. I don't remember what the other words are. Anyway, I spray painted them. a spray paint, I painted it with matte black spray paint, there we go and it makes it look more 3D and this is the pen I was talking about every time I find these, I stock them up because sometimes they're hard to find and you guys are going to have to Forgive me if I say um a lot or smack my lips a lot. I don't know what it means, I feel like

2020

was already hard for everyone, so let's have a little grace for me, for you, for our neighbors, you know what I'm saying, again, it's late at night so probably I don't know what I am. I say it like this, you guys already know this, although you like how I distressed it a little using a sanding block. I feel like that gives it a lot more character when you do things like this and takes the shine off of similar things. from the marker or the paint, you know we were actually trying to get a new house this year, but that just didn't work out for obvious reasons, but you know I really like the message on this sign because even though we have a smaller house, I feel that there's a lot of love going around and a lot of love to give, um and with that being said, I'm super super grateful that even though

2020

didn't bring us a new

home

, it brought so much more than that, um, yeah, in the comments below, I'd love for you to share something really positive or cool that 2020 brought to your lives let me know okay this is definitely one of my favorites I've done this year and although I feel like I could have done it a little differently just to do it more like a friends statement piece, maybe use larger pieces of wood to frame it.

I feel like it's actually perfect and especially in our narrow, smaller hallway, so I don't like it. master it, I actually used this piece of board left over from my pantry makeover I did a couple of months ago and then also some dowels as well from the same project and basically what I did was just cut it to size, sometimes I don't . I don't like using my big power tools like my table saw or something, especially because I work a lot at night, so if I turned those things on they're very loud, I don't want to wake up the neighbors.
I don't want to wake up my kids, so we're going to go ahead and use our handy dandy hand tools, so you guys see, I just used them like a handsaw, you know, to cut that or whatever they're called, they're not. . Are they hand saws? I don't know what they're called and then I'm going to use my chalkboard paint to paint my board and I'm going to use several coats. The first layer that I'm doing, I'm doing it. With this sponge from Dollar Tree it's like in the automotive section and I think it's for waxing the car or washing it.
The first layer I'm going to go ahead and just rub it in there and then the second third layer. I think I used three coats, I'm just going to pat it on there to give it some texture. Definitely, when you use your chalkboard, prepare it with the chalk first, just place it everywhere and clean it that way the next time you put chalk on it. I like the writing on it, it's easier to remove. It's been going on for a while. It was all about pretending I can find

high

er ground. I just have to reach it.
This is another one of my favorites, although I used wooden blocks from Dollar.

tree

and like a back piece of a I think it was like a cubicle or something like that. I don't remember exactly where it was. I just know it was in the garage for a long time and I really like it. The size seems quite sophisticated to me, it doesn't look like it was made from blocks of wood until you look at it closely, like I'm looking at it right now, it's on my wall and I love it. In this one I used just regular acrylic paint because that's what I had on hand.
If I could go back and do it, I would definitely use the thicker paint from Lowe's or Home Depot. You look back and I look back, we don't. look the same it's time we let it die oh I just have to reach oh to reach

high

er do you remember when we were young running from all things at once without a second thought and I knew it would catch up to us and that we would be the ones left behind the Stories that have been told to me never seem to leave my mind on this path that I'm on I have to stay here for some time time passed and I grew up somehow I managed to keep track of it and still I wonder where you are and if you found a way to come out of the darkness.
The stories I've been told never seem to leave my mind on this path I'm on. I have to stay here for some time. I have to try to keep up because. This life is a lot, I'm still wondering where you are, come find me, okay, so this is actually another sign that my sister ended up taking. I feel like there are some

signs

here that she took just because I can't keep everything I earn either. I give it away or I reuse it, but either way this one was made with

dollar

tree foam board and these giant craft sticks are from Walmart, they're like seven inch jumbo or they're like seven inch craft sticks and my inspiration , guys.
I saw the first picture there, I found that sign online and I wanted to try to recreate it as closely as possible, so to try to get that real wood look, I cut out what I'm saying I kept trying to say. jenga blocks, I cut the craft sticks into different sized pieces and just glued them along the foam board and to get that galvanized molding look I used smaller craft sticks, painted them black and then did some of metallic paint there, I just dabbed it on to give it that galvanized look and then added some faux pearls like half pearls to make it look like little fingernails or something and then using the pewter gray and the white I blended it together. together to paint the rest of the board, I saw you on the way crying like a dog so I feel like I did a really good job recreating this, however if I could go back I would definitely make the leaves a little bigger because when you look at them side by side on the original tree the leaves look bigger but I feel like either way it looks pretty good and then I went in there with a marker and then this was my favorite part Making this project was just go in there with hot glue just to give it that texture that you see on the original sign and after I did that, let it dry completely and then I went over it with some black paint, keep the breeze in the sky.
I see that it works well, so we come to the last and my absolute favorite sign of 2020. I feel like it looks high end and looks like something you would buy in the store and actually wouldn't have, so I bought it. these panels at Home Depot to do some updates in our kitchen and I still had this huge piece left and I still had another piece left over from that project, so a piece for 22 dollars will last you a while I guess depending on what you're going to do with it and then I also bought some pieces of wood to make them, I didn't actually buy them to do this specific project, I bought them like for our kitchen updates but I had them left over so I'm going to use that to frame it and then I also There were some dowel pieces left over from that project and I'm going to use them, so I cut out my pieces and made the frame.
I made sure to nail them down so they don't move on me, I don't want to just use it as wood glue on this because I want it to be very strong to the point that it doesn't fall apart because I want this one to last a long time. and get to our next house lost again coming back around dreaming all the time when I do things well lost in the shadows of a million stars shouldn't they be in my mind near and far? Shouldn't they just tell me where you are? son send a prayer if I'm unlucky send some love and I'll make it back baby I'm stuck with a heart halfway run away if I go too far pick me up when I'm at peace heart halfway sing for me if I lose my voice It's crazy to say, but the only thing I'm using from the dollar tree on this sign is the family license plate and I don't know if you guys can still find them or not, honestly, I have them.
I haven't been to Dollar Tree, I mean, I guess I have been in the last two weeks, but I haven't really been looking for things for crafts, so I don't know if they actually have them or not and I haven't been to the usual ones. Dollar trees I go to, so I hope if you want to have that familiar sign, you can find it. I know sometimes it's hard for you to find what we artisans use, so if you want it, good luck, I hope you find it. and then yeah, I painted it with my black textured spray paint, again, if you use spray paint a lot, I highly recommend the nozzle, it makes painting so much easier.
I know I've said it before, but I will. Say it again, it's also linked in the description below and then I'll use my super glue to stick it to the board and I think that's it guys, we've reached the end of the video. I've reached the end of the video, they still have a little bit to go. Thank you so much for joining me today and I hope you enjoyed my 15 favorite signs of 2020.
