Last year I made this beautiful DIY heart puzzle. It was originally intended for Valentine's Day using a heart, but I think you can definitely leave it in your
decor all year round, so to put them together I'm using some of these Dollars. Tree signs and they have them again this year so you can definitely still pick up all the supplies and do it yourself and I thought it would be cool to use one of these puzzles to make this DIY puzzle, it's definitely something I want to try. incorporating it into some upcoming DIY projects just because it was so fun to use and many of you enjoyed it.

Tree signs and they have them again this year so you can definitely still pick up all the supplies and do it yourself and I thought it would be cool to use one of these puzzles to make this DIY puzzle, it's definitely something I want to try. incorporating it into some upcoming DIY projects just because it was so fun to use and many of you enjoyed it.I can remember the exact night I did this. I guess it's been going on for about a year and I actually had the cool idea to do it. the heart of the puzzle and then I called my mom to figure out what I should write, what the little quote at the bottom should say, we were definitely thinking of something to say together, that's what went with the puzzle, so it was something really fun. a little souvenir I remember sitting and trying to get the perfect little quote, but to do this I'm putting two of the big signs together.
I'm not sure what the L is on that sign and it looks like grease stains or something, I'm not sure if I bought it like that or if it's just because something was spilled on it, I'm not sure, but I put these two signs together with those big popsicle sticks and something really cool that gave it a cool touch. The effect was that since this science has these little indentations, I filled them in with black paint and it showed by painting this with elephant gray paint and made it look so rustic and like real barn woods.
I thought that was a really cool effect. I wanted the heart to be a neutral color, but I wanted it to stand out, so I went with white and just covered this heart. Dollar Tree has these wooden hearts again this year and they even have some that don't have the hanger there, they were just hanging in one piece on the back so it's perfect so you don't have to worry about covering up the holes in the back top and just dress it up with a little bit of gray, so it's really fun to go back. And seeing how much my videos have changed since a year ago, you might not notice much, but I've been trying to add little extra touches.
My editing skills have improved a lot. I'm considering hiring an editor so I can give it a try. focus more on the creative part of my videos because anything for me can take 6-12 hours if it's like a difficult video where I have a lot of beauty shots, as I call them, which is when I try to stage them all. crafts and makes shots look really pretty and it takes a lot of time so my goal for 2020 is to try out an editor and see if that's something that would save me some time and maybe even free up some personal time.
This was a great idea. I'm not sure what inspired the puzzle use I saw on Pinterest where some people were making posters where the whole heart was made of puzzle pieces, so I'm thinking it's pretty much what it was, but I love how the center is still flat and I was able to add that little metal flower in there and then I'm just hot gluing all of that together. I added that little jute bow there, I think most of these projects have a bow so I won't take the time to show you exactly how I make each bow.
I cut all of that out to trim this video, but I'll list each of today's projects below the full file. video link so you can get more details on how I made all these projects for 2020 too. I would like to make some printables. I know I print a lot of these words to use in projects and I want them to be available so you have to go in there and print them very easily and that's maybe something I need to put on a website. I know I don't really have an active website right now, it's what I'm thinking about and maybe I'll give it a try.
To find someone to do that too, seriously, there are YouTube videos and putting together takes so many hours that it's hard to start new projects or put in extra work when you really can't find that time, especially if you have a lot of kids. because time passes, but I think this is a beautiful piece. I was so proud of this every time I finished it. I was so excited to share it with all of you. I didn't realize until I saw this video that little candle. it's crooked on that lantern, but it's definitely one of my favorite projects, that's why I put it first.
The second DIY that I am sharing with you is the set of hearts that have to be locked in the key with some small bows. cute every time I made them, I was just in love with them, now I see some things I could change, but I still really like the look of them. Maybe I wouldn't have chosen them more as a beige shade, maybe more. lighter like a lighter color, but they are still one of my favorite things that I made especially for Valentine's Day, but I am in love with the vintage keys. They have always fascinated me, like having or collecting old keys or locks.
I've always loved them, so it's definitely fun to make your own. I thought this was a cool and creative way to make your own keys, so to make them I'm using the hearts from Dollar Tree, like I said, they already had them again. I painted them with the mineral color paint and then just brushed the edges with this brown to give them a little bit of dimension and just added some extra details to them and then I went through the middle to dry brush and then to make these little keys I just studied This for a long time and I thought there had to be a way to use Dollar Tree items to make keys that still looked really sturdy and wooden, but these little rods were perfect for this job, if you just mark these little rods with your scissors, you can break them evenly with a clean cut, you can clean them a little with your scissors if there are splinters.
I needed the little piece. the ending for the key part, so it was a perfect idea. I'm using a pack of wooden letters from Dollar Tree and cut them out so that the back of the letter F is hidden behind the little rod. I glued it on and then you can see the two little pieces sticking out like a little old skeleton key and then those wooden pieces came from the
target place, but Dollar Tree has a little sticky wooden heart so I'm thinking. Those would work. I don't have any at the moment so I'm not sure how big they would be.
dollar
target place, but Dollar Tree has a little sticky wooden heart so I'm thinking. Those would work. I don't have any at the moment so I'm not sure how big they would be.I sprayed them with some silver spray paint and then when I cut them out to make them look really vintage, I wanted to make a lock. I didn't really intend for the lock to have to be heart shaped, it's just the only thing I had so you could cut a shape out of a piece of foam board if that's what you want to use. I love using those little black doodles. lines around everything I make, I just think it gives it a finished look but still a homemade artisanal look. I love having Pinterest nearby for inspiration.
I wanted to see what the keyhole should look like. I wanted it to be comparable in size to the key to make it look a little realistic. I'm gluing that little rope to the back to make it look like some kind of hanger, but I thought those were the perfect little lock and key set that would be perfect for getting in. in the center of these and I might try to try to make them again and use them in a different project just because I love them so much. I made some little briolette bows and then tied the little lock key around them, added some lace and flowers and some nautical rope to hang them and I thought they turned out really pretty, like I say if I made them again I wouldn't make them such a brown color, maybe more like a lighter gray, but the gray key and lock come off.
So it worked very well. Next up is this little circular home sweet home sign with cotton painted around the edges. I actually took this circle from the
target point. I'm thinking it was $3 or $5, but sometimes Dollar Tree gets circular. signs you can easily paint this too. I started by using a small brush and just made a small wreath. I guess it was like a wreath painted around the edges and I wanted my cotton to look all symmetrical. He knew how to paint by hand. I wouldn't get that effect, so to make it all look like cotton I simply drew it on a piece of printer paper and cut it out so I had a template to trace over and over again.

I wouldn't get that effect, so to make it all look like cotton I simply drew it on a piece of printer paper and cut it out so I had a template to trace over and over again.I know cotton was very popular. Last year, especially in the spring when Dollar Tree put some on their little branches that they put in their bouquets for spring. I don't use much like floral cotton in my house, it's just not something we really live by. so I don't know, I'm just not very familiar with growing cotton or anything like that, so it's something that I've never liked, I just had the desire to put it all over my house, it's beautiful and I love painting it like that. I think this is very nice to make home sweet home.
I just got it on Google Images and printed it. I wrote home sweet home and then I printed it out and about the size I needed and I scribbled on the back and then I can trace over that so it comes out and the font that I want to write on there and then I go over it with black paint markers. Paint markers are a really easy way to make things look so much better when you're painting them by hand, I made another bow for this and that's how simple it all looked. I think it's beautiful and something I'm excited to repost next year.
The fourth craft I will share with you today is this DIY window using items from Dollar Tree. and I actually started using real wood, so I sold these DIY windows everywhere, everyone was taking picture frames and making them and honestly, they just didn't look good quality, even when they were filming, when they tried to pick it up, it fell apart. was breaking or falling apart and they just said I had to be very careful with it so I knew there had to be a way to use real wood from Dollar Tree or something much sturdier so I posted a video on my channel that was Dollar Tree Dollar Tree Hacks to Make Farmhouse Signs and it showed how you can cut this canvas out of these frames and you're left with a perfect piece of wood, a rectangle that makes the perfect frame and you can stain them and I put a piece of paper. behind them to make some beautiful farmhouse science so after I made them it made me think these are the perfect real wood frames that I could glue together and make a larger piece so this was perfect for this project you must have great care. when cutting that canvas because you have to apply pressure and don't slip if you use a knife, but I think it's worth it to get such a beautiful piece that you could fill all those cracks with wood filler if you'd like, but I was just going for an antique look, so I liked the little cracks there.
I gave it a nice base coat of white paint and then went over it with some mineral and this truffle brown. paint to blend it in and make it look like last year's weathered wood. I was trying to upgrade my flowers to be a little more high quality than Dollar Tree, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Dollar Tree puts out some beautiful flowers this year I just prefer to go to Walmart, sometimes you have to give $2 or $3 for some floral picks, but like I say, I feel like they are better quality so I don't mind spending a couple extra dollars to get a piece that I'm proud of, I don't mind hanging longer and Walmart also carries floral pieces at 97 cents, so definitely keep your eyes open.
I'm excited to see what all the stores will be releasing with their spring. floral and evensee what Dollar Tree has, but I simply hot glued my eucalyptus leaves to one of these natural wreaths from Dollar Tree. I think I ended up putting two together and they just connected them to this frame and this is something you could switch the wreath in and out and make it seasonal or just leave it like that, all yours last year. I made a lot of spring DIYs and this was one of my favorite spring DIYs I made. I love the little music note paper that everything looks like. vintage and I love the little birds.
I have an old bird that someone gave me when I was very little and it has always been very special to me. I still have it and placed it so it's super safe but still in a place I can see. It's very common so they're just I don't know but I've always liked something special. little birds and this was like a pottery piece so this reminded me of something I had when I was a kid but I picked up one of those hurricane vases from the Dollar Tree and I also painted one of those little glass chandeliers white. and I wrapped some jute twine around the top and bottom and then I know in the last project I said I didn't love all the dollar
floral pieces, but this one with the little purple berries and it has a velvety finish . in the greenery was definitely one of my favorite floral pieces they've ever put out so I enjoyed using it in the spring and then I just printed out a little bird silhouette and held it over the music paper and cut it out and then added some dollar

s, a little decoration, the heart starts to race.I don't know if I like these races and games, coming up at number six, although they're in no particular order, is this windmill I made for my mom. I came up with the idea of using these placemats for this windmill and she made one and shared it with me and I loved it and she wanted me to share it with all of you she was also so excited to be able to share this with all of you and this is one one of the most viewed videos on my channel last year, especially at the beginning before we got to the fall videos, so I was so excited that you guys really enjoyed it and added to making these.
I'm using some placemats from Dollar Tree and I'm just being nice. When measuring you can see how the width on the inside is two and a half inches and the top is about an inch and then I connected those lines to make it the perfect little windmill blade project that I'm excited to make again . Although it's something you can use all year round, I saved all my stuff for Christmas just because my house was so full and overwhelming, so I'm excited to get it all out again and might try to make it again. just because they were super fun and I use these little skewers from the dollar store and I taped them up and I hot glued them on and then I pushed them into the lid of a milk jug and it was a little tricky to push them in. there, but after you learned it, they were a little easier and after I pushed them all in there, we were a little crowded, so I ended up removing one and spacing them a little more evenly, right?
I'm not broken, just divided in two. I hope you are well and have time to do everything you said you would do, friends from the past. I put a lot of hot glue on the back, but be very careful because I made the milk jug lid. melt the first try I tried so I had to try to do it again and then this is how my mom made the original: she made it flat so it would just sit on a shelf or lean against the wall. or something like that if you were putting it on a table but she also made one by adding the third leg or a rod on the back to make it stand up and many of you said you did it like that too so feel free to let me know in the Comment below if you have done this project as well as any of the others and what modifications we made so that everyone sees things differently and especially as if I were crafting together with all of you like most of the At that moment I have an idea and I start to film and I try to make it, so yeah, you can definitely watch me make it and then get ideas from that and I make it myself, after making each craft, I think I could have made it. this is different or that would be cool if you did this or added that but it's something that I don't want to like go back and fill in my desire for these to be original projects that are like my creations so I'm obviously very inspired. because of Pinterest and all my other DIY friends and what I see in stores, so I don't want to say that I'm making all this stuff up, I just want it to be more like my original ideas and then keep coming back. and I changed everything but added a little bit of silver paint and elephant color paint and then went over it with a little bit of brown to make it look a little rusty and I think it's the perfect rustic farmhouse windmill.
The number seven is this metal flower that was hanging. I'm also very proud to do this. I know everyone would love it. Many people enjoy crafts with glass jars and this one was no exception. It is one of my most popular videos on my channel. It's on that popular little feed, so I'm excited. about it and I think it's beautiful for spring and can be perfectly customized to match anyone's decor. To do this, I use one of these little plank signs that is actually from the Easter collection at Dollar Tree, but they have these little planks. sign for each holiday so you can do this anytime and then I remove the bunnies and save them for a different project and then I sanded where they were so everything was nice and flat and I hot glued on my giant popsicle sticks.
I highly recommend them for your craft supplies. I bought them at Walmart, they're only 2-3 dollars for a bunch of them and I use them on every project, like tons of projects, so it's definitely something I would consider purchasing and they're definitely high quality and worth it , so I go ahead and give it a nice base coat of white paint. I mainly use chalk paint in 2019 and will stick with it until I fall in love with something else, but it's I get a lot of questions about why I choose chalk paint, but give it a try.
You can only get small bottles at Walmart of Waverly chalk paint for only a couple of dollars and you can get the larger ones, I think, for five or six. dollars, so it's not a big investment to try it yourself even if you try it. I love it because you get so much more coverage and it dries quickly. It's easy to get stressed. This video is not sponsored. I just love using them. I have never been sponsored by them. Plaid has sent me a couple of things, but they never send me products like the ones I used all the time, they send me products like new, so that's something I also want to share, is trying something new. making products and not always using what I'm comfortable with, so I really want to test my creativity and try some new things in 2020, so I think it will be fun to watch.
Make sure you subscribe so you don't miss out. To keep the fun going, I made those little faux lines to look like a board sign and then painted the metal flowers gray. They were actually just little wind chimes from Dollar Tree and I keep showing them that I have five, but they were just too full so I ended up only using three and I recommend folding the little petals to make them look more three dimensional. I originally painted them just gray and coated them with white to give them a little color. highlight but after putting my sign together I realized they really need some color so I ended up adding some turquoise and blue and you can see my frame was broken, it was already broken at Dollar Tree but I went ahead and I bought it just because I knew I just wanted to cut this little jar.
Oh, you could easily print the jar online or try to draw one, but I thought it was really pretty and I already liked the text there. I modified it down to my sign and then put my little flowers there, unlike my friends, you don't look anything like them. I wanted them to have the 3D supports to make them look like they were really coming out of that jar, so to get them I simply grabbed a Flower Stem from Dollar Tree that I didn't really like or that had lost half of its little flower pieces and used a pair of wire cutters and just kept the little sound of the stem and then I made some little leaves with the burlap that Candace and that's how it came together I think the blown flowers go perfectly with a little blue glass jar and this is a piece large so beautiful it was made for a number eight very inexpensive is this applique set with a small spring floral on I love projects like this because you can make them and put this spring floral on there and then when fall comes take them out and put a small bouquet of sunflowers in there and you can hang them all year round but still have them new and fresh.
It looks like you can train to change them and I really enjoyed making them. I really hope Dollar Tree puts these signs back up. I know a lot of people use them and they are a lot of fun, especially with those little 3D metal ones. There are pieces you can remove so I'm using two of these signs, even though they had different prints they were made exactly the same and I took two of them. I went ahead and painted them with my truffle brown chalk paint and I made the signs out of faux wood planks, dry brushing them a little bit lighter in color and then sanding them a little to make them look really rustic and I love the effect which they give because I really think they look fake. wood and then Dollar Tree had these little jars with a metal hanger on there.
I just removed them, just cut them out and then painted the jars with some dark gray elephant chalk paint. I needed something to hold the jar on so I picked up some of these cheap little plastic sticky hooks. I didn't trust the adhesive it came with, so I ended up hot gluing them together and applied some elephant colored paint over them to make them less visible. shiny and more similar to galvanized wood. I also took a piece of my sandpaper and roughed up the jars a bit. I cut out my hooks and then I was able to hang them on those little plastic hooks.
I think these would be really cute too. with anything other than keys, if that's not your thing, I bought these little metal keys from Amazon. I just tied them in the middle of the bow and I loved how it gives it a more vintage look but if you don't like that you could definitely leave them plain or you could hang I'm down with a heart or even some cute little ornaments if you picked up any ornaments that were a kind of farm. I know Walmart had a ton of decorations that didn't really look Christmassy and like they were little items that you could use all year round, I filled them with some of these beautiful bright floral selections like I say, no.
I liked the spring floral from Dollar Tree. I think I ended up using Dollar Tree a lot more. in the spring that I even did at Walmart so I'm excited to see what they came out in the spring and then I wanted to drill some bigger holes because I wanted to add a nautical row so I attached them to the top and that finished these and they are Such a beautiful and economical piece. I just made them for a few dollars and they look lovely hanging on either side of a photo or as a piece of art on the wall at number nine.
I am sharing this little pedestal it is one of my favorite DIYs, it is very simple but I love it. I know it has a pumpkin there and it says fall, but that was just set up for a whole video. It was a full time when I made this, but I think I love it. It is so beautiful and was made for only a couple of dollars. I used one of these little shape signs from Dollar Tree and then I bought these little beads from a thrift store that were there so I picked them up, but you can definitely look for beads at Hobby Lobby or any craft store.
I started by removing the little stickers on the back and then using the larger beads from this pack, I simply glued one to each corner of this piece and then I'll paint them white. and then sand it down a little bit with sandpaper and that's how simple it was, I mean, just a couple of dollars to put together this beautiful pedestal tray that you can put candles on. This would be perfect to decorate for Valentine's and Easter. I definitely will. I'm going to be on the lookout for more of those signs because I want to make more of these for myself and the last DIY I'm excited about today is this cute little frame using $1 Dollar Tree calendars.
I started with one of these little paradise signs. at Dollar Tree it was in the summer when they came out with their Tiki or Hawaiian parties collection and I'm also using this dollar calendar now, luckily they printed this print twice so I was able to combine it all. I had both. pictures put together to make a larger piece and I thought it was a really cool idea. I pushed the love for little things to the side and then tore out the other image and then cut thesides of that like this. I say I could put this together and since this is like weathered barn wood you can't really say I put the little pieces of wood together and made this look like a longer sign after I had it all laid out and it looked like one solid piece I'm putting a lot of Mod Podge on it and I like to apply thick coats and then every time I put it on I go ahead and add another coat on top instantly.
Many people recommend that you let it dry. I'll have to let me know in the comments below what your
best
method for Mod Podge is. I never really have much trouble with things that come up. I struggled a little whenever I put too much Mod Podge on a project, but other additions to that, I find that adding using a heat tool or hair dryer to dry Mod Podge also seems to help get the bubbles out. I had a lot of fun in 2019 doing all these projects, it felt like a super busy year, but I felt very happy.I achieved a lot and was building to grow my channel and have many of you just enjoying watching it. I enjoy the feedback because I can take the things they like and help shape my videos that way and also experiment a little more with editing and filming and even my DIY jobs. I've definitely increased my confidence on YouTube because I'm more confident in the projects I do. I was always worrying and making sure everything was really to my liking and now I'm fresh cut I felt much more comfortable just doing projects that Honestly, I love them and I share it with all of you in the hope that you like it too.
I really enjoyed putting this video together for all of you. If you enjoyed it, please give me a big thumbs up. Let me know in the comments below which of today's projects was yours. favorite and what you would love to see in 2020, thank you all so much for watching and supporting my channel and see you next time, happy crafting, bye, hello.
