For today we're going to talk obviously about what the title of the podcast says, which is

tips

for

getting

approval from

drop

ping

suppliers

and not just any supplier, but the ones you really want to work with now. I also wanted to change things. this episode and instead of just quickly listing a bunch of random

tips

, I decided to ask them what they wanted to know about

getting

approved

by vendors, which, by the way, I did on Instagram stories on the lifestyle account

drop

ship

. If you're not already following that account and you're on your phone, just go to Instagram, search for drop ship lifestyle, follow it and I make stories like this all the time, but I think that's where these questions and these ideas came from. we have seven total and I'll start at the top of the list and just say before I get into this, this will definitely help people who are just looking to get into dropshipping or even people who might have had some success. like maybe drop shipping with an arbitrage model or drop shipping from China, but they are looking to do this legit and work with domestic

suppliers

wherever you are in the world, so with that being said, let's start with the first question: How do you get a list of reliable suppliers, the first thing I will say is a great question, I understand why you ask, but you should know that you will never find the best suppliers by searching for a list online and I am telling you like someone. which actually has its own supplier directory that I give to dropship lifestyle members my training program that has over 8,000 suppliers and over 300 niches that required a team of I think we had almost a dozen virtual assistants working on he for almost a year and even that is not as good as what you can find on your own, so when it comes to supplier lists, I will give you some advice first of all, don't even search for a second when you find them, don't you pay for them. access because the online companies that charge you for access to their group of products or collection of products are middlemen, you do not have good pricing terms, they are not worth your time, money or efforts and that is not a way to be successful in direct shipping.

So to give you something you can actually use, how can you get a list of quality suppliers? What you do is just go to google.com and search for your niche, your industry, whatever it is that you currently sell or want to sell and then give it a try. to find online stores that are online only and look for the brands they sell for now, obviously not every site you find will be a drop shipping site, for example you can go to their contact page or about page and you can see they have a showroom. or a warehouse or a retail store and if they do, I don't recommend searching for suppliers or brands on their website because chances are they can get

approved

with suppliers and brands that you can't get approved with.

What you're looking for They are the ones that don't have that physical location and when you find them you want to find the brands that they sell for and you want to contact those brands directly to get approval to sell their products, that's how it falls. In my opinion, shipping works, that's the only way to make money with this business model in the long run and by the way, if you want to know exactly how to do it, check out the screen shares and get my scripts that we use when we contact the suppliers for approval, make sure you go to dropshipwebinar.com after this is over because I have a free training there for you.

I'll link to it in the description too, but that's dropshipwebinar.com. Okay, the second question I got from Instagram is how can I ask suppliers? send me a dropship, okay, it's a little contradictory here, but when you contact suppliers to get approval to sell their stuff, you don't even want to use the term dropshipping, it's funny, I made a youtube video, I could have done that. It's been two or three years now and it was called stop dropshipping, which is definitely pretty fair click bait, but you don't want to use the term dropshipping or dropshipping when you're communicating with suppliers because, by default, if you say that .

Like hey, you call them, hey, can you send your stuff? They're not going to think about it since you know something worthwhile or you know it'll be easier for them to just write you off, although of course that's unfortunately the business model there are a lot of shady people out there, especially when it comes to deadlines. three-week delivery times, two-month delivery times, people not shipping things, that's with the whole dropshipping model from China, which is a topic for another podcast, but what? What we do is when we communicate we don't say hello, can you send us the shipment?
Instead we say hello, I'm calling you from anton's what.com antonsdesks.com and you know we really love your products and that's why we give them the reasons and then we say we'd love to talk to the person in charge of opening accounts for online retailers, so we use the terms online retailer and internet retailer interchangeably, but that's our approach to getting approval from suppliers that you don't just call. and don't just say hey, can I send your stuff? It won't go well if you're a member or someone listening to this is a member of Dropship Lifestyle.
Go to module 4 of the Dropship blueprint and that's where I give you. those exact scripts about what to say if you call or what to write or copy and paste if you email, okay third question and by the way, thanks for these questions guys, I really appreciate it, it's crazy for me every time I post something on Instagram. stories that ask for feedback, you know we get hundreds of responses, so the ones I pulled out for this episode, like it wasn't your question directly, a lot of them were similar, so I tried to pick the ones that were asked the most in one way or another . so the third question, we'll cover the third tip that I can give you for getting approved for dropshipping suppliers.
The question was that one of my suppliers is asking for bank references. Should I give them to them? It's not okay, so as long as it's pretty much any company you're with. going to work with any supplier or seller is asking for personal references or business references or bank references it's because they think you're trying to open credit accounts with them basically so let's say hypothetically that I was the supplier and you contacted me to sell my products I said it was ok if I sent you a form to fill out and had bank references, the reason I would want this is so I can check with the bank and make sure you are creditworthy to make sure you know.
Pay your invoices on time to make sure it's okay for me to basically ship to my account on credit, so let's say you sold thirty thousand dollars worth of products in one month that if you had credit terms and I owned the company . who was storing the products, I would basically ship them all and maybe give you terms like net 30 days or net 60 days and what that would mean is that you would have to pay me 30 days after the product was invoiced or 60 days after it was built the product. and the only reason suppliers would need those bank references from you is if they think you are applying for credit terms now, we don't use credit terms.
Well, what you want to do is get prepaid terms and what that means is when you fill out the forms and get approved, you will give the supplier or suppliers a credit or debit card number that they can bill when you send them orders. , so think again about this scenario I'm in. the supplier, you are the seller, if I approved you to sell my products and you had your credit card authorization on file, what that would mean is that if someone purchased from your store and then emailed me, you know later that day for shipping. the product, then I would know, okay, you sent me an email.
The wholesale cost is any $200 credit card on file, that is, when they charge you, so prepayment doesn't mean you are paying for the goods in advance, it means you are not running credit terms and if you are approved for the prepaid, which is very easy to do because they don't send anything until you are invoiced, then you don't have to worry about bank references, so we literally just cross out that section when filling out new supplier application forms, the following question is in Australia, suppliers don't like online only stores, what can I say to get approval?
Such a fair question and I think this has changed over the years, but when it comes to different countries or regions where you know, e-commerce maybe isn't as big as it is in the United States or is it kind of which brands and suppliers are still a little tired, so it's your job to basically sell yourself even more and when I say sell, sell you, I mean sell. what are you going to do to give them a better business, so again, if you want the exact scripts, everything that's on the dropshipping plane, just go to dropshipwebinar.com after this podcast, but basically what you want to do when you talk with them.
It's not just again saying, "Hey, can I sell your stuff online?", but you want to talk about what you like about their products. This is something I teach and something I do. Do your research ahead of time so you actually have a reason to want to sell their products. talk about who your customer is, who your customer base is, how you plan to advertise, what you're going to do to market your products and what you need to do is just make it a no-brainer for them, because if they just say No, I don't want to work with you. , it's not because they think you're going to bring them a lot more business, it's because they think you're not worth their time, so it's your job to make them realize that you're worth their time. because it definitely is and we have many students in Australia and around the world who have done exactly that.
Also a side note for anyone listening and thinking, Oh I'm going to have this problem in the Drop Ship Lifestyle Members area if you click on additional content, there's actually a course called doing business abroad . I highly recommend you take that course because it will show you how you can adjust and modify the plan to make it work in countries with a smaller population or where you maybe aren't comfortable working with online retailers, but you shouldn't have any problems. You should be able to move on. In Australia alone we have hundreds of success stories, so you'll be fine.
The fifth question. I walked in and said: do you know any suppliers in Costa Rica? The short answer is no, it was never sold there. What will I say? Although you know I mentioned it before. You don't want a list of suppliers. So for you you don't want a supplier. list of suppliers in costa rica what you would want to do is do your research, find those online only stores, see who they sell to and get approved by them, but that being said, i don't know how many people live in costa rica, let's see. I will do a real-time search of the population of Costa Rica.
I guess it's not that big even though it is an amazing place, yes just under 5 million as of 2018 so with a population that size what would I recommend for yourself or anyone else living there. in a smaller country you know don't do business there so you could find a place with a larger population and do business there so maybe from Costa Rica you want to do business in Central America or maybe you want to do business in The US We have dropshipping lifestyle people from all over the world who are doing just that and doing it successfully.
The next question says I'm located in Canada, but I'm thinking about selling in the US as well. Thoughts on that, yes, both are fine, so no. reason to limit yourself, right, when you do business, if you're going to form your business in Canada, obviously, there's nothing wrong with that, if you're going to have all your banking operations in Canada, there's nothing wrong with that, but I They would approve 100 percent. with both providers, also known as brands in Canada and the US, and would run my ads in North America. I would do it in Canada at least in the US so everything can be shipped there and you can get more sales and have a bigger market, nothing wrong with that. everyone, no, don't limit yourself there, um, okay, next question, this is the last one we're going to ask today, guys, and by the way, I hope you get value from this, you know if you do, if you like this guy from I guess it's a podcast style, let me know by leaving a review, go to Apple Podcasts, if that's what you use I'll link how to leave a review in the description and in your review just say you know you love the podcast or something So.
Five stars say you like these if so and I will continue to respond. I'll still ask questions on Instagram and I'll still answer them on podcasts if you like this format, but let me know in the podcast review sectionfrom Apple. With that said, guys, let's move on to final question number seven: Do I need an ein and sales tax certificate before contacting vendors? Okay, good question, let me break this down a little so everyone knows what you mean. means employer identification number. This is something that you can get online for free at the irs.web irs.gov website.
If you want to get one, you should do it right away because basically what it is, you could think of it as a social security number for your business so that way you know all your tax forms and stuff, they're connected to your ein number instead from your social network, so I would recommend getting it right away when you go to the IRS website, just Google it. go to google and type apply for an ein number online make sure you go to the official irs website because if you search for that you will probably see a lot of ads for companies saying they will do it for you for a hundred dollars and they just want your money again It takes five five minutes to do it online, so I would recommend getting the sales tax certificate right away, so everyone knows it's also known as a resale certificate, which basically gives you the ability to collect and pay taxes about sales for anything. state that you get a sales tax certificate, usually what you want to do is get the sales tax certificate in the state where your business is located.
In my case when I started my business I was located in New York I lived in New York so I didn't get one right away I started doing business I started making money then I bought one and I bought it for New York and all my orders that were They shipped to New York when my business was located there I had to collect and pay for sales. taxes, that's the purpose of this now in some states and this is specific to us. I don't know how it works in other countries because I haven't done business there, but in the US some states have sales taxes and some don't. so if your business is in a state where you don't need to collect it, you don't need one and basically the way it works is there are minimum thresholds that have to be met so that you basically have to collect and pay sales tax , it varies from state to state with what is called a nexus, this podcast will be twice as long if I cover everything now, but know that I will tell you from personal experience what I did.
I had a number right away. a sales tax certificate once I started making money and you need to get one for the state your business is in now with the nexus, how does that work, once you start doing fairly large volumes in other states , most states are like over a hundred thousand dollars in annual sales, so you would need one there too, um again, maybe I'll do a whole episode on that, but for now just know that you have the option of not getting one immediately and still get approval from suppliers, maybe not all. of them, but you know what if you're in this for the long haul, if you know you're all in on your business, get the ein, apply for the sales tax certificate, it won't take much time and you'll feel a lot. you'll be more confident and that way if any vendor asks you for it you'll have it ready to email them a copy, you'll get approval and you could be on your way to making money from legit vendors aka brands so that's it all.
Guys, I'm going to close this episode as always, I hope you got value, I appreciate you and I'll talk to you on the next episode of the ecommerce lifestyle podcast, final reminder, although if you're new and you're like that, it sounds amazing. I want more I want to know how to choose a niche how to find these real suppliers how to get approved how to build a store how to generate traffic then make sure you go to dropshipwebinar.com to get the free training I told you about before I'll link it in the description. Thank you.
