and what a scene it is galleries surrounding many have been here I was here at 9 o'clock this morning looking at all the location of people already claiming places Danny it's the sky boxes of action there Gary is a good place to be and this is a crescendo for all those people. I'm Gary since 9 o'clock when Tiger shows up. That is exactly correct. No doubt they are excited right now. Johnny I've seen a number of players kick from the back of the screen and the results haven't been good I mostly like Tom Kyte very far to the right well the ball wants to break left at the top once that goes down the slope that moves. strong right and pick up speed it seems like when

gets really into something difficult he usually does very well and he should be pretty committed here he certainly needs to be you can see where he's standing now Gary that's the front of the ridge so it's almost a completely flat putt there and then for the last 20 feet from where Tiger is now to the

hole

he's very fast and as he said he turns hard to the right let us get Gary past a little bit on that side and then a mess comes back, but Johnny goes so far to the right going down that hill that that's where the players have been fooled.

I mean you have to be three four feet to the left of the

hole

as it comes over the ridge and most of the guys just haven't seen that you almost need to pretend Gary it looks to me like the hole is on top of the ridge, like you said, four or five, maybe even six feet to the left of the hole and try and just pass it around almost forget where Steve Williams is standing by the cup like what he's doing there just swinging the putter visualizing trying to trace the line you want doesn't look like you're pointing left at all will make you break a little left at first Johnny that's better than most about me n is better than most better than most Johnny I think it's safe to say you can hit that putt 50 times and maybe hit it once that was just another Tiger moment one of the great long putts I've seen recall at the '94 US Amateur Championship.

green let's take a closer look at this putt surprised how much he went left well there's a brown the hill right there Johnny that really throws it left and he's the first guy I've ever seen that has carried the ball that far to the left of the hole, you know, even if this ball doesn't go in, it goes six or seven feet with that same slope on the green, but that's fun to see it simple mind slides on the right side and his reaction at this moment, what do you think?

Yeah, still the same punch we saw 94 on that green Gary. These three four shots collected on the course are an example of how difficult it is to putt on this 17th green from above. an unlikely birdie now 10 under 7 under in his round and only two off the lead and Gary what makes it just as impressive was he was in the water on that hole yesterday almost put him in the water again still none of it crowds his mind buries a near impossible putt he has back-to-back birdies he is a t 10-under only second and now moving on to the toughest hole here
