Three New Trucks - One Epic Off-Road Comparison: 2019 Ford Raptor vs Chevy Trailboss vs Ram Rebel!
Feb 27, 2020and crazy look at that look up it's like a fucking bulldozer ladies and gentlemen welcome to the video review we've all been waiting for because we're here in Moab Utah, America's off-
road
mecca, and we've got some of most don't make the most off-road
capable half-tontrucks
you can buy and right now we're not just going to find out which of thesetrucks
has the best four-wheel drive system which is the best-capacity domestic half-ton for road but which one would we buy so Andre are you ready to ride and start our engines? Let's turn them on and slow down, follow the path.I drive this new
2019
ramrebel
. offroad worthy half ton ram you can buy has front and rear skid plates has 33 inch goodyear wrangler dura track tires has ten point eight inches of ground clearance approach angle is twentythree
pointthree
and the angle of departure is twenty seven point two now funnily enough i'm in the truck here with coil springs all over it and i've got bilstein shocks to boot we've driven up to this rock here to test the articulation you can see my shiny coil springs here now i've got the distance shortest wheelbase of the bunch which should help me off road but on this little test here I've exceeded the max articulation my only issue today will be these side steps which are made of this rather flimsy plastic and I think I'm definitely going to scrape a little today.

Now, one thing I definitely have to worry about at Here are these cool looking exhaust pipes coming out of some of these rocks. I'm worried they'll turn into pancakes at the end of the day. I drive the new Chevy. Silverado z71 Trail Boss most offroad worthy Silverado actually half a ton you could buy from Chevy and I have a 28.7 approach angle which is better than the RAM and my departure angle is identical to the Rams I. I also have ten point eight eight inches or f ground clearance so I have 32 inch Wranglers and unlike Tommy's what makes them great is the black lettering is on the outside.
Normally I would have side steps but when we told Chevy we were going to Moab they decided to take I have a two inch block lift and you can actually see it right there because I'm completely out of joint and I'm like Tommy Bill Steen. the pipes come pre-squashed from the factory, that's right, they're rectangular, so hopefully I'll touch the bottom of these. I drive the updated

Ford Raptor and this truck is really unique because it has some really tricky suspension, yeah. Those Bilstein and range of shocks are very nice but these have a three inch diameter Fox live valve, they are active shocks which means they adapt to the terrain the truck is on.I have cast ground clearance according to Ford 11.5 inches. I have the taller tire. a 35 inch ta ll tire from BF Goodrich is a ko2 I have the best approach angle of thirty point two but I have the worst departure angle let me show you I guess there is a consensus among manufacturers that exhausts have to come out the back and they have to hang low but in the case of the Raptors here I have 23 degrees of deviation which is the worst of these three and last time we were here last year we squashed this tailpipe so I'm very nervous about this .
Hi guys, yes, can we make a gentlemen's agreement? yeah what's up you know that exhaust pipe on the beam that used to be round it's not going to be oval what happens and Moe stays in Moab no let's play Mr. Truck what's his problem ? The Raptor has thirteen point nine inches of rear wheel travel and you can see here using the 35 inch tall tire I'm not actually off the ground I see I'm still on the ground in the same spot where the ram and the Chevy they carried I have a steel side step which is unique to the Raptor but I don't think it's going to help me it just makes the truck very very wide it's already a very wide truck regular shocks do just that They absorb shock. they react but these shocks are special because in certain situations they can predict what's going on you see this wire it's basically taking information from the computer which has a lot of sensors and it could tell the front tires are off the ground. time I could be jumping and I need a stiffer shock that's really smart ok I'm going to around 27 psi you don't want to go too low on your pressures and risk losing the bead and separating the tire from the rim and losing meter a lot ground clearance but getting to around 27 28psi gives you a wider contact patch on the tire gives you more traction on the slippery rock before starting this
epic
and awesome review of Moab mashup.Let me throw in some important numbers. Silverado $57,000 RAM
rebel
$59,000 on the sarpy theraptor
$74,000 this truck is in a class of its own and doesn't really compete directly with the other two that do compete directly for your hard earned dollars the rebel of course has traction four wheel drive but more Importantly four wheel drive is low let's turn on now four wheel drive is low so I have to be four wheel drive neutral but most importantly this little button down here is really going to save my ass off-road. our rear axle lock just push it in it's engaged now we have the rear wheels turning at the same speed regardless of the terrain I'm going over I also have a pretty advanced hill descent control system which we will be testing today the hill descending The control is from adjustable speed using the gear limit switches here on the steering wheel I'm locked up I have four wheel drive on I can just turn my locker on and off when I need to and I'm ready to hit the road now I picked this truck because well it's really cool , this is a serious offroad truck we're getting over our first hurdle here and it'll give me a chance to show why this truck is so cool so let's get closer articulated and now The wheels turn pretty good so all I have to do now is to click the spindle lock button.Rear axle locked up and bam right over the bump and the electronically activated locking rear diff seems like a pretty basic piece of kit, but it completely transforms any truck's offering capability. And this truck especially now, unlike the other two trucks here, I don't actually have an electronic rear diff lock. I have what Chevy calls a g8 II, in essence it's basically some sort of Detroit Locker so the rear diff locks when the truck feels like it needs more traction but this is all I can do for the box traditional transfer low gav in the rear and hope for the best so put a neutral hit for traction control low with four wheel drive engaged now i have hill descent control which allows me to control the speed at which i am truck goes down hills I don't like using hill descent control I like to use big toe I feel like I have more control but it's a nice feature to have on an off- You might be wondering why I chose the Trail Boss and the answer is that this is really the only naked truck in quotes here.
Chevy has stepped up their game to compete with what is becoming a really popular off-road segment. truck so I'm going to see how much they stepped up the game on him and how good this bad boy is when this dirt road turns into the slippery rock of Moab right away we're going to put this truck on a really awkward articulated area where one of the wheels is going to be airborne and I'm going to lose traction like I'm doing right now here we're going to figure it out right it's time to put the
raptor
in its most off-road worthy mode for our crawl today it has several different shapes on the that you can engage for bass and also all the other devices related to it let me show you so first you can use this knob to the right of the steering wheel to go into four Auto for either high or low you can also enable your rear locker but there is another way of doing so the Raptor now has up to seven different riding modes and I'm currently in normal mode but look at this if I go rock pace it will automatically put me in low mode and lock my rear so here you can look at the rest to see control low install rear locker disabled and arm enabled and you can also have your Raptor status where you can see suspension is enough read mode rock crawl all the information is displayed on one screen i also have a 360 degree camera which the other two trucks don't have so if you want t gadgets you have i also have road control which is this button here which is basically cruise control low speed and i'll be turning it on this way i picked the 2019 Raptor very simply it's in a class by itself it's loaded with technology it's got the hardware it's not just you know the engine and transmission it's the way they set up the chassis and suspension, yes, it may not fit on a narrow forest path.It has an 8:02A package which also means it has a Torsen limited slip front diff so not only do I have an ocher engagement ring which is currently enabled I also have a Torsen front and that makes this very easy. I really didn't. Got some slip up here on the first part of the trail and am enjoying it's just an afternoon ride hey Roman your back locker wasn't hooked up well what am I supposed to do about it? go out and fix it so he doesn't have his own andre i can't do anything i saw him man i smelled like burning rubber which was really nice.
I really like the design of this new rogue RAM and that's in large part because they really set it apart from the stock Ram. It has a completely different front end with a special. the unique nose and skid plate has these really aggressive toe hooks in the front the interior is different it has special seats special trim inside it actually says rebel on the gauge cluster here really cool design gotta tell you i think of seems intelligent, which is the most aggressive. I know the Raptor has that wide, rugged body in that classic coke shape, but the front end of this truck is just fucking sexy.
I love the idea of the upwind cuff and that's really what the designer was going for I have to tell you I'm a little disappointed in the interior then I see a sea of black I see sort of traditional chrome ring gauges that feel like something which GM used to do 20 years ago or so and they did this truck also has these type of toggle switches on the bottom here which I really think are attractive the problem of course is there are some blank ones that hate switches in white. another reason or reasons why i chose the Raptor as the truck for this trip it has very simple styling there is no doubt the
ford
raptor is much wider than the regular f-150 and has uniquely styled fenders i mean , that's the good stuff interior for 2019 here you can see the new recaro seats are custom added at about 2400 bucks in fact the whole truck is now more expensive it's about $2200 more than 2018 after and once you get it full load this is 74 you can get them to 78,000 MSRP those are the prices so this little ravine here will be a great approach angle test to see if we bottom out on the front going up this rocky section ok here we go let's see what happens taking it off a little bit of an angle look at that articulation no you could kill the tailpipe oh look at that oh that was the tailpipe from the chamber tommy keep going don't stop .Dive, which means we're testing the entire outbound approach and these trucks are crew cabs so they're a lot of length, you know, the first time you scrape, it's always the hardest after that. Ok I'm going to hit it straight up because normally I would use a diagonal line to cross this but since my tailpipes hang down I'll try to use my pitch. -creep yeah keep going oh there's your first blood oh ok that's a problem it's their manual exhausts they're the cool thing about the Raptor it's the only truck on here that actually has a full size spare which is the same brand as the main four tires ok same tire i is exactly the same idea he has a KO - yeah we don't have any spare tires but there are two tracks ok so the approach angle is great the angle Starting is so good guys I'm going to rank how these trucks did in this Hurdle.
I'm going to take Silverado number one because he barely touched ground clearance. Yeah, he didn't play. Number two has to be RAM because he hit the tailpipe, but that's all but number three hundred. watts is you,They're very close, but I'll give Trail Boss's Silverado a slight lead. I think it was shown here today that it wasn't quite as touching as the rebel, well there you have it, we've got some results and we're very curious what you guys think in the comments below, let us know which truck you'd pick and of course the elephant in the room Would you pay $15,000 more on the Raptor beam as usual?
This is Rhomin and Tommy and Andre saying thanks for watching remember check TfL truck comm from a used news and of course in the real world. So which was worse the deal breaker or the tailpipe jet all wrong but tailpipe i hate the harmful things i hate you
