This Laptop Is A Creators Dream!
Feb 29, 2020Granted,
this
is one of the bestlaptop
s I've seenthis
year. It's a relatively large 17-inch device, but it's a very powerful, all-in-one creative battlestation that lets you do pretty much everything you could want in a creative workflow. Has it all. the good stuff like a very powerful RT X 2080 CPU but what makes it special what makes it a unique product is this hinge that allows you to rotate the screen pretty much any way you want you can have it upside down facing behind alaptop
or a client you can have it in front of you like normal or you can have it in this kind of top down artist mode and along with this display you also have this really amazing pen now the traditional pen that comes with a lot of laptops feel that way after thinking they don't feel the product was based on using a stylus it's just something that can be added to a product as an added value but this laptop makes very good use of this pen on the screen itself has this kind of matte texture so when you draw on it it has this field like paper not that it feels exactly like paper but it feels a lot better to draw on this screen than on the screen type standard with glossy finish and it's also a Wacom EMR based stylus so the stylus itself doesn't have a power supply the under screen digitizer powers the entire connection and it's just a very nice drawing surface.I'm not an artist, but I can tell right away that they put in the time. and effort to make this pen and digitizer interface feel right, so if you do digital arts and are working with any sort of pen-based workflow, you'll probably appreciate this by now. I was recently introduced to this game called osoo and it's this rhythm game that a lot of the veteran gamers use tablets to play and I thought because this screen and digitizer was so good that it would be awesome for them and I just want to say it was like i want to say clearly that this does not mean like a best bear machine in the world, but play it, your arm gets very tired when moving, but it's fun and i also tried starcraft 2, a real time strategy game, the biggest problems are clicking right so much in that game and right clicking with this thing that you had to hold the button and tap and it's very ineffective.
I felt like it had an APM of like 5. It wasn't great, but the pen itself and the interface with this device is on point. It's really meant for creative work and for that it's pretty good. I did notice when I was drawing this Pokemon here that it would occasionally miss the click of a palm detect, but the accuracy and pressure sensitivity was felt right now. The performance of this machine is really good. It's running on our TX 2080. Running an octa-core i9 from Intel, it's super powerful. I played a bit on this thing. Excellent frame rates. Obviously, it's not a gaming-oriented device.
It has a 60 Hertz screen, but if you want to game, you can edit videos on this machine. They are great. It has very good performance, especially for being so quiet that you can't boost the turbo much. I feel like if they let the users control the fans a bit more it could go up significantly, but it performs well for the sound level it pushes. Now the keyboard is something you have to get used to, it has two kinds of problems: one, the keyboards in this low position, so there's no wrist rest, and the trackpads on the right, so everything feels a bit more tight, it all feels a bit unfamiliar when you first use it, but I think most people if they spend any time with this will get used to the device now that the keys are a mechanical switch.
I don't think they market or advertise this as having mechanical switches, but you can clearly hear that there is a point of actuation when you press the key and the layout of the keyboard itself. I think it's pretty standard except for the shift key on the right. I think it's something you know that not everyone uses that shift key on the right. but for the people who do it it's very small and in this weird position the touchpad has this thing that can DoubleTap and it can activate a numpad for people who want to use the numpads but the inputs on this thing feel a little bit weird and the other thing I don't like about this thing is this machine is expensive it's clearly aimed at premium professional users but they don't include a wrist rest with this device and I feel for the amount of money this thing demands should include one in the box instead of the user going out and looking for a custom wrist rest that fits this particular device should be in the box the exterior of the device is relatively plain there is no super obvious marking on the back of it just says that there's nothing it's got a very slightly visible concept D that's kind of depraved on the metal it's not like some super nasty branding ok let's talk about this flippy screen because this is the cool part of the device now if you'll notice through out of this whole video when i opened and closed this hinge i had this creek and it's not the swivel hinge it's the actual hinge on the bottom of the laptop and i think it might be unique to my device but it's something i feel i need to mention in this video that is not coming from the right hinge, just the left hinge.
I feel like they overtightened this unit I got and its tightness is good like rigidity in a device like this. You're drawing and you want that kind of sturdy surface to work on. It's perfect, but I hope this Creek isn't a side effect of that sturdiness. Now, the screen itself has a relatively large bezel. I'll be honest when I first saw this. I thought you know why it has to be so big maybe they couldn't get a panel that had this kind of color accuracy that they wanted because the screen is great as the panel is bright it's very color accurate probably one of the plus the color accurate screens you've ever seen are geared towards creatives but it's a really nice screen with a thick bezel bestowed on people who actually use this thing for work you probably won't notice but as a computer critic laptops I feel like I'm just going to criticize that and there's also a webcam on top of the 1080p image and it's a relatively clean looking image there's a place on the top right hand side of this device where you can put your pen like it just holds it magnetically and it's kind of like it's nice to have when you have any kind of stylus based product or stylus compatible product to have something like this you just don't lose it that easily so the arms of this device, this kind of arm here that holds the folding hinge for the screen is very well done, it feels like you could twist this thing hundreds of thousands of times.
I feel like Acer did a good job with this thing. There's also this magnet, like when you push it back, it snaps into place and you dress it up as well. there when you flip it like when you flip it all the way the image rotates automatically for the eye depending on what mode you have the screen on ok it will close this here the internals are easy to access you can replace your Wi- La Fi card drives your RAM and the battery down here isn't particularly great 71 watt hours and you get an hour and a half of battery life actually shorter than I thought but considering the size of the screen and the resolution and all the kind of powerful internals in here I guess that's kind of expected but you're not going to get great battery life with the ports on this machine there's a good selection of ports no SD card slots although there are three usb a's for pc use and an ethernet jack and there are four speakers that actually sound pretty good they're loud and clear now the overall takeaway from this product is a super expensive device it's 5000 bucks obviously not something that everyone go buy but if you're interested in this device let's say you're a creative professional considering this make sure you're using the stylus that way it's really a great strength I tried to show it in this video, but since I'm not an artist, I can't.
I really flex what this sounds really capable of, but if you're someone who can use a pen and the kind of processing and graphics power this is capable of, I think it can be really useful for certain people, but there you go. the Acer concept d9 I hope you enjoyed this video thumbs up if you liked subs we loved it see you next time
