THIS is why the Cheap Salvage Corvette Won't Start! Easy $100 Fix!

Feb 22, 2020
Hey guys, what's going on? I'm Sam Crack and I'm on a mission, maybe not today, but in

this

video, at some point I want the Corvettes to

start

. I'm ready to hear that thing working and they gave me some advice online. That could help us achieve it. This is a very strange tip and I'm personally very skeptical that it will work, but I'll try it anyway. I'll meet with the turbo. Mike did some work on the suspension. things to finish the underside of the car and then we'll work on getting it running so we'll meet when we get to the Corvette so we've got a lot of things to do today our goal is still to get the Corvettes

start

ed.

Now what you see here is an ECU that should be programmed to the VIN of

this

Corvette that came in and then what we're working on now is finishing everything under the suspension, which consists of down here, you see the leaf spring turbo. Mike is We're working on lowering this control and we actually bolted it back on, we need to lower it real quick and then also the sway bar here. I'm going to put it on the ground, I see we can't get this car to start right, so the The leaf spring came in great, all we're going to do now is pull this sway bar and it should be relatively

easy

.

More Interesting Facts About,

this is why the cheap salvage corvette won t start easy 100 fix...

It has a new link here because this one was broken in the accident. Let me show you exactly what is happening in this case. that we can't get this started you guys may have some idea so basically as you see now the cars taken off almost everything is connected except again the air intake there and the MAF is not connected but there is something new. is happening, which in my opinion is a good sign, so I have my key in my hand here. I have a light on here. Well, when I close the door, it gives me the green light.

Now listen, you hear the relays clicking and you hear that. I don't know if it's a fuel pump noise or what we're going through there, but it's definitely better than before, before we were getting practically nothing and there are still a lot of these same messages. Now the reason we are working on the suspension of one because it needs to be finished so we can finish the car and the second one, someone told me that the reason my car won't start is because the front end is raised. Now I really find it hard to believe, but we're about to find out that once we get that sway bar, we'll be able to lower it to the ground.

It should sit pretty normally at this point and we'll see if that's what fixes our Corvette not starting well at the time of The truth is, lowering a Corvette to the ground will make it start fine, yes, check the front in case it comes off. liquid or something, you don't want that to happen. Okay, clutch pedal in three, two, one, nothing, thanks buddy, in Corvette form for your theory of putting the car down and a note. I didn't tell him my car wasn't on the ground. He just said that his car was not on the ground.
That's why it wouldn't start, but for a second it put it on the ground. started whatever it is that does the same thing here, but look, this security thing goes away, you just missed it, it's in this corner, everyone here says it stays on for about ten minutes the first time you put a new ECM in and honestly , I did not pay attention. The first few times I started it I let it sit and turned it off, but there is a relearn procedure so it has plenty of gas anyway. Copart was running a special that week with a car of ours, I got three quarters of a tank.
I'm going to do a quick scan here just to see if there's anything obvious that might be preventing the car from starting the intake air temp, so that's the mathematical position of the crankshaft since the sensor didn't learn the clutch position ooh, clutch position, look, that's interesting because If you don't realize that the clutch is not engaged when you try to start it, the car won't start right, let's see what else here, the intake air sensor, that is, so we'll come back and we will delete everything. This is now something interesting VI, the camshaft would adjust, let's say the position of the camshaft sensor, apparently you can do a manual one or you can use a Chevy um, a Chevy diagnostic scanner this could do it.
I'm not sure the crankshaft sensor doesn't cause anything. Totally not, okay, no, it would start and start, but it runs weird, that's what they say. It works like a limousine, but don't start following what you just saw. I went home and did some research. She was pretty. convinced that the fact that the car didn't know the clutch was depressed is the reason the car wouldn't start and using the Corvette form using my shop manual, I found out that the car needs any relearn procedure and discovered that the The only way to do it was with a dealer diagnostic tool, it's what Chevrolet or General Motors call their technology scan tool, so I looked it up online one year in the United States to buy prices around $1500, so which would obviously be an advantage, it would be

cheap

er to just take it.
You go to the dealership and ask them to program them and then there are some Chinese clone alternatives that cost like 250 dollars but then you have to wait a week or two to get them from China and I thought this was going to be something that would take a while, fortunately I found another solution. Let me show you exactly what it is. There was a thread about this on the Corvette forum. It's called vcx Nano and all it is is an interface that replicates this technology for scanning the tool. this part in your obd reader and then this end has a USB that you connect to the car, so this cost me like 110 dollars since it came from Amazon, it arrived in a few days.
I'll put a link in the description box below in case any of you have the same problem, which I highly doubt; However, when it comes to these types of aftermarket vehicle diagnostic scanners, there is a bit of legwork to get them working and one thing I want to recommend to you: I have almost given this away two or three times and I don't think I will ever give it away. until I die. This is an old, chunky Asus netbook. Do you remember these things? They were all the rage when they came out because they were so small but they were horribly slow, it's still horribly slow and it just doesn't work very well, but the primary key on these old computers doesn't have to be a netbook, but any old school computer is 32 bit .
The processor and many of these softwares ran very well on 32-bit software. Now I'll fix it if you have a modern computer like my Dell. Here is to run the software from a virtual machine that I have always had. The more you do that, the easier it will be to run on an old 32-bit computer, so if you have one of those, make sure you keep it in case they ever have to do any weird work on the vehicle like this, I don't think. I could be more excited, it's been like a week since we tried to start the Corvette and now that this finally arrived in the mail, I'm pretty sure this is what will work fine, so I'm making some progress.
I have everything arranged here. I have the old school 32 bit computer up and running. You can see that the Tech 2 software is running there and let's figure this out, so if we look at the F 6. configuration module look at what it says there just what we need those first two: learning the position of the clutch pedal and learning the position of the crankshaft. I'm somewhat sure that once we do this learning of the clutch pedal, the car will turn on as you all probably know. Your clutch has to be depressed to start a car with a manual transmission, so let's do this start with the engine off, which I'm pretty sure is exactly what we're doing right now.
We'll do this one more time to make sure it's now Taunus, which fully press and hold the clutch pedal and press Enter to continue. I just pressed enter on the word learn while my foot was on the clutch and now it just tells me there are two codes, so if there are only two codes, before we had three. here we go the crankshaft position the intake air temperature sensor with the clutch pedal position should have been learned at this point so let's go back and learn the crankshaft because we don't want to mess anything up and then guys this car could be. ready to turn on now, but I'm not going to take any chances, we've got this all hooked up, let's figure it out properly.
I have read this several times, we have a v8 so we cannot exceed 4,000 rpm. I'm going to press enter, we're going to go back in, lock the drive wheels, set the parking brake, the car is also in neutral, of course, here and then it says cycle ignition from off to on, let's see, there it goes, you know What am I really going to close? take it off, let's hope there's not a bunch of oil and stuff all over the floor, but that was exciting, that was our problem and I just pulled the damn cable. I'm too excited to worry about that, let's check the oil. spill anywhere what we have in nothing clean floor that's what I like to see it's working it's working so I'm going to plug this in real quick here because you could see it was down in all the places it works it works well entry is in this, it's weird, something must be plugged in there, we'll find out later, I plugged in the calculations and let's go in, let's grab this rickety old computer that saved my car essentially in the keys and let's do it, let's relearn real quick, okay car.
Turns out it's idling very well even though the check engine light is on, it doesn't hesitate or sputter around 600 rpm and hopefully we'll get the coolant up to temperature. There you can see that I have some boiling water. I always put water in my cars before I go ahead and put the actual coolant in them. I once filled a Mercedes with about $60 full of blue Mercedes coolant and it all went down and I lost it all, so it's water to begin with. Once you know everything is working and there are no leaks in the system, of course, I'll completely dump that water and put it into the cool Ducks GM stuff this car requires.
I'm pretty sure this car is full of water and the temperature gauge hasn't gone over the middle mark here, around 220 degrees, which I think is pretty normal for these cars, so so far everything is going really amazing on Wait a minute, hopefully we can plug that cable in and get it done. the crankshaft relearn procedure I did, the crankshaft was relearned if the camera didn't catch it, I basically put my foot on the accelerator all the way to the floor, it got to 4000 rpm, it's now clearing the DTCs, those are our diagnostic codes of problems that we are going to achieve. that one more time because our check engine light went off and we're going to make sure nothing shows up at this point, we plugged in the map, we relearned the clutch and we did the other things so what does it say let's press this? once again see all the DTC non-diagnosed trouble codes we're ready to go this car is running exactly as it should so we did that at the beginning of this video.
I said I wanted that car to work and although it took us a few days, getting it to work is a great feeling knowing you can do it yourself with your own resources. I always hate when someone tells you yes, you have to take it to the dealership for that, the truth is there are no laws. Against that, we'll talk about that another time, so we consider that we spent about a hundred and twenty-five dollars on the ECU that we are going to need anyway and the used ECU costs about a hundred dollars, so this 425 program again follows being a Spent a lot or so another hundred and ten on the module itself, we own the module and can use it to work on our car at any time in the future and it would still be

cheap

er than taking it to the Corvette dealer to get a new one.
