Jun 08, 2021
So if you wanted a retro

typewriter

-style

keyboard

, the only real options were to convert an old

typewriter

, which we did, or buy custom keycaps and replace all of the ones on your current

keyboard

, but now there are a good variety. There are a lot of options available on the market for these typewriter keyboards, so let's try some of them today, so we actually don't have as many options today as it might seem at first, because some of them are just different variants of the classic retro from asio, so they have the artisan, the elegant, the onyx and the elwood, and the first thing that comes to my mind when I see

this

is if there are really that many people who are looking for

this

style of keyboards.

I need four different colors so let's go ahead and get these unpackaged cables feeling good so oh how to impress Linus it's a type C connector which in fact I recently discovered is only about a cost difference of about 15 cents on a high quality micro B connector. but for some reason a lot of new products haven't switched to this one yet, a couple more things back here, so there's bluetooth mode, there's usb mode and you can switch between mac and pc, well, part of today's video will definitely be on going. Check out all the different color options here because if you're the type of person who buys a fancy keyboard, then you probably care a lot about the color scheme, so not only can you switch between Apple and Windows mode, but you've also including a bunch of extra keys, this must be the Mac version of the f keys, now let's take a look at what the craftsman has to show for itself, this is actually a perfect example of a company taking advantage of the little tool work that's been done to turn that into as many models as possible so you can see here that the craftsman is just a cross between the onyx and the fancy one so it has the exact same kind of rose gold metal accents and then you just use the leatherette backing and then the matte black padding for the keys which brings us finally to the elwood which is different from any other model we have in almost every way so on the one hand this thing has what appears to be a genuine wood backrest, can't you really feel it?

More Interesting Facts About,

this awful typewriter keyboard raised 350k...

I like it Hi James James I think it's ready for lunch okay there's another finishing touch on this one though it's very nice so if you want you have the option to replace the plate here so I can unscrew the screws and I I wonder if you could. flip it over and engrave it yourself either way, they sent a custom one with their awesome retro classic set from 2009 and look they have Linus Media screen printed on there, that's cute, I mean my last name is Sebastian, not media, but you know, Hey, also, forever. right, these are really heavy keyboards, how much do these things cost?

They are not cheap, I think they will have to do a lot more than just look good, but let's get to that in a minute, first let's take a look at the challenger, this is the no k, so it's the opposite of good, that's right, this is the no k rymec with blue switch, beautiful light effect, retro style and bluetooth bar cable dual mode, now the packaging is not so good, I don't know what's the problem. this is like brown gradient every time i find duct tape in the package i have to know what's underneath oh well it's okay if cherries are part of your keyboard that's not embarrassing maybe some of our clever chinese viewers can give me an idea what it's all about without the tape I actually would have been a lot more confident using them.

Okay, this doesn't look too bad to start with, so they have a little bit of aluminum, something they have a little bit more aluminum more different, oh, this is like your, uh, like your. the plug for, you know, okay, it won't have much function in a keyboard, but it might look pretty cool and then we have the keyboard itself, I will say this, the feel of the plastics here doesn't hold up. a classic retro candle oh I was going to say, although the nice thing is that they have these reinforcing ridges here so that when you slide them into the slot you can't put pressure on the can, they don't do anything, they just borrowed someone else's duel through the USB connector.
Wait, there are two, why does he have two? So this seems to go here. Oops, Joe, does this come off? It's like a little handle here, but it doesn't seem to come off and it doesn't even come off. after me about pebcak because there is no manual, it goes this way and it just sits there no, that's it, that's the whole mechanism, why do we have these holes? Okay that's not guaranteed in any way either, it just sits there oh indiegogo is this thing this thing holy shit this thing

raised

360k what the fuck it's almost 200 this thing costs almost as much as azio you people of retro keyboards, not only are there more of you than I thought? you guys are crazy my switches are these are covered by the backplane here I can't tell what they are also these lighting effects are really annoying here we go now they're breathing now they're just scattered now they They're breathing fine they're not cherries you know how I know that you hear how different the sound is between those two, okay then what the hell, oh you've got to be kidding me, oh there's a pad semblance to it, so presumably there's a little rubber pad here. to keep whatever you put there safe, but it doesn't touch it, it just stays there, okay, I guess we'll use the phone, so I guess this is part of the problem: you can be sitting in front of your computer and you can have your phone I mean, it says it has bluetooth, but how do you know what?
Forget it for now, how good your bluetooth is isn't important unless you're really decent at typing, so let's find a typing test, holy shit, that doesn't bode well, look. the wobble on these keys i'm barely touching them you know let's start with a baseline so this is a razer black widow something like that with its orange switches that are basically chinese brown cherry mx clones okay 73 adjusted words per minute now. It should be noted that these get all the advantages now because I'm more familiar with the text, oh boy I can't get any momentum, it's just the same score, yeah, I'm consistent, let's try it one more time, okay, this one is more representative .
Probably what I can do, but we'll get back to the razer in a moment. Criticisms of this type. These keys are wobbly. Its shape is absolutely horrible. Sorry for my French because it's very easy to accidentally mash two keys at once. one, on the other hand, doesn't actually wobble much, a little more than I'd like, but the spacing between the keys means I wasn't accidentally pressing multiple keys at once, but I did struggle to register keystrokes from time to time. when. time because the switches they're using, which I'm actually not sure what they are, I'll have to find out, but the switches they're using are a little heavy on me, okay, so they're a little kale. kind of kale blues, let's go back to the first keyboard, okay 97.
In fact, let's test the bluetooth functionality first, so I just switched this to bluetooth mode and what I'm hoping is it'll be a lot easier to pair, okay? I'm holding down the function and it starts flashing, that's strange, here we go, it's intuitive, so the function and the Bluetooth key appears, okay, it's a bit complicated, although the switch is located in such an inconvenient place. The good thing is that it apparently has a six thousand milliamp hour battery, so you can continue using it in Bluetooth mode even when it's not plugged in, so it's also wireless and backlit, not bad, that helps a lot with the cost.
Now this guy, on the other hand, is not impressed, so he wouldn't do it. Going so far as to say that any of these are a replacement for a more standard keyboard for me, but I was surprised and impressed at how close I was able to get to the asio retro classic, especially in light of how seemingly desperate the keyboard community is. . get some kind of retro style keyboard because this is what this product managed to raise on indiegogo so I don't recommend it much either but I will say if you need to buy one I would definitely go with this one so thanks for looking guys if you didn't like it this video, then maybe they work for what's the name of their company again, maybe they worked for the UK, but if you liked this video, sure, you can hit that button, but if you liked it, hit like and subscribe. maybe you will consider checking where to buy the things we present in the link below.
