The incredible inventions of intuitive AI | Maurice Conti

Where and if it's fun or not. Look, I'm sure the designers envisioned this lifestyle for Barbie when they designed her. (Laughs) But what if Barbie really seems lonely? (laughs) If the designers had known what was happening in the real world with their designs (the road, the building, Barbie), they would have used that knowledge to create a better user experience. What is missing is a nervous system that connects us to all the things we design, manufacture and use. What would happen if you received this kind of information from things you created in the real world? With all these things we make, we have spent an enormous amount of money and energy (last year, in fact, about $2 trillion) to convince people to buy the things we make.

But if you have this relationship between the things that you design and make after they go out into the world, after they've been sold or launched or whatever, we can change that and go from making people buy our things, to making things that people want it first. The good news is that we are working on a digital nervous system that connects us to the things we design. We're working on a project with some guys from Los Angeles called Bandito Brothers and their team. And one of the things these guys do is design crazy cars that of course do crazy things.

More Interesting Facts About,

These guys are crazy... (laughs) in the best way. What we do with them is take the chassis of a traditional racing car and give it a nervous system. So he equipped it with dozens of sensors, had a world-class driver drive it, took it to the desert, and drove it for a week. The car's nervous system captured everything that was happening to it. We have collected 4 billion data points; All of them are forces that have been subjected to them. And then we did something crazy. We took all that information and plugged it into an AI production design we call “Dreamcatcher.” So what happens when you give a design machine a nervous system and ask it to design a final body for you?

You will get this. This is something no human could have ever designed. Except for a human who designed it, but it was a human who had evolved through productive design of artificial intelligence, a digital nervous system, and a robot that could do something like this. So if this is the future, the evolving era and we are going to evolve cognitively, physically and perceptually, what will this be like? What will this wonderland be like? I think we will see a world in which we move from manufactured things to cultivated things. Where we will go from things built to things in development.

We will go from being isolated to being connected. We will move from extraction to acceptance of aggregation. I also think we will go from wanting things done to us to valuing self-control. Thanks to our enhanced capabilities, our world will change dramatically. We will have a more diverse, more connected, more dynamic, more complex, more adaptable and, of course, more beautiful world. The shape of future things will be different from those we have seen before. Because? Because what will shape those things is this new partnership between technology, nature and humanity. To me, that's a future worth waiting for.
Thanks to all of you. (applause)
