The Best Cars You Can Buy for Under $10,000! | WheelHouse

. But you don't have much money to spend on them. Well, don't worry, because today we are looking at 10

cars

under 10 thousand dollars. (upbeat music) So let's set the ground rules. First of all, the car cannot cost more than 10 thousand dollars. Duh. I only say this because there are cases where you will see cars that typically cost more than 10 thousand dollars for less than 10 thousand dollars. But these are not typical and it's not fair for me to put them in this video. Second, I'll show you some cars available for much less than 10 grand.

Then, you can use the leftover money to modify your vehicle and make something really special. To research prices, I use Craigslist in four different US cities, Los Angeles, Denver, and Nashville. And New Jersey. And keep in mind that you'll probably be able to find at least one of these cars for anything under $10k, but the price will reflect the condition. These are just some basic guidelines on what you should expect to pay for a decent specimen. We will go in ascending order from the cheapest to the most expensive. For less than a thousand dollars all you'll find are cars that need a lot of work, but that doesn't mean you can't find something fun.

For example, I found this 2000 Plymouth Neon for five hundred dollars. Listen to me. It may be neon, but these things are so fun and low-key. (car engine roar) - Woo. Tiny. Wow. That guy goes very fast. - And this is a manual. Apparently if you're going to buy a Neon you should go with a manual because automatic transmissions are really bad. And I can't stress enough how difficult it is to find good cars for under a thousand dollars. Forward. Things don't get much better with two thousand dollars. But there is one car that immediately comes to mind if you want to have fun on the cheap.

The Ford Crown Victoria. (upbeat music) You get a V8, rear-wheel drive. Comfortable seats, they will last forever and you can modify these things with Mustang parts to make them turn really well. My friend Austin made it and he is very cute. He can find Crown Vics for less than two grand all day long on Craigslist. The only problem is that they get pretty bad mileage. And if you buy a Vic, you have to hang out with Vic people and they're a little weird. - Hello, I'm weird. - Okay, the big three. I think if you're in high school or college, this is a realistic amount of money to save with a full-time job.

For example, this 2001 BMW 325i with five speeds for $2,500. Sounds pretty good, right? Well, it's also a German car with 192,000 miles. So buyer beware. For three thousand dollars I think I have a better idea. (upbeat music) The Civic, two to three thousand dollars is the land of the Honda Civic. At this price, the cars you will find will have fairly high mileage. But it's not hard to find some that have been really well maintained. Another good option in this price range is the Acura Integra. Very similar but looks a little cooler in my opinion. But you must be careful because they steal your civic system. (clang) Hey, Nolan here, this Civic was stolen about 12 hours after we filmed this episode.

We got it back, so it's okay. If something breaks, OEM parts are very affordable and working at Honda is really easy. Sure, your friends may call you richer, but you'll have the last laugh when they ask you for a ride after crashing their 240SX into a wall for the third time this year. (Car tires screeching) Okay, so four thousand dollars is when things really start to get serious for cheap fun cars. You can find Miatas all day long for between three and four thousand dollars. (upbeat music) Let me confess something to you. I used to hate Miata.

I used to tell that funny hairdresser joke and believe all the other tired clichés. But that was until I drove one. There's a reason people love the Miata. That's because it's incredibly cool. In this price range, you're looking at late 90's, early 90's, NA and NB Miatas. It will get a lot of mileage but, like the Civic, the Miata is pretty bulletproof. Five thousand dollars, we're halfway there. Hopefully, you're getting some ideas. For five grand, there's some really fun stuff if you're willing to look for it. The only car that stands out for me in this price range is the first and second generation Mini Cooper S.

Like the Miata, I think the Mini Cooper is another car that has an unfair stigma. (whistles) People think it's a girl's car. It's cute. Is slow. And I practice. But I think the public is wrong because I don't believe in girl cars. I believe in cool cars. The Cooper S is great. And I'll tell you why. Two words, it's supercharged. That's how it is. From 2002 to 2006, the Mini Cooper S came standard with a 1.6-liter supercharged engine with a six-speed manual transmission. Is awesome. I don't need to say anything more. Something to keep in mind: these things aren't very reliable, and since they're basically BMWs, maintenance can be a little expensive.

And apparently, they're a pain to work on. But on the other hand, supercharger. You can get one of these for under five grand, no problem. I'm thinking about saving up and doing it. For six thousand dollars, it's kind of a strange mix of nicer examples of cars we've already talked about. And less beautiful and more expensive things, which we will talk about later. But one thing that is consistent is an American classic. The Jeep TJ and the YJ Wrangler. This is probably my biggest odd ball pick so far. And I maintain it. Other cars on my list are fun little sports cars for cruising around town.

But what if you don't care about that? Wranglers aren't the fastest or the most stylish. But I promised you, if you try one of these with the top down, you'll understand. Jeeps offer a different kind of fun. At this price, you'll find a super cherry Wrangler. But come on, it's a Jeep. It doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to work. You know, the more cars I talk about on this list, I love them all. (upbeat music) - For seven grand, I think there's a lot to love about the Infinity G35 and Nissan 350Z. They are basically the same thing.

Obviously, this is not a seven thousand dollar car. But with that extra three thousand, you can make yours yours. The Infinity seems to have grown. Mm, I can't wait to start my mutual fund. - While the Z looks like it just came off the set of Tokyo Drift. Personally, I think Infinity looks a little better, but it really comes down to personal preference. You can fight me in the comments. But the differences don't end there: inside the G35 has a rear seat while the Z only has two seats. Apparently the trunk is also larger on the G35.

But you won't buy one of these to transport things. You're buying one of these to get your butt moving. (crickets sound) It's a joke. The Z has the handling department of the G35 slightly surpassed because it is lighter. But the disparity between the two is not very noticeable. Also, a quick side note: the G35 also came in a sedan with a six-speed and that's awesome. Now I want one of these too. Now that you're in the eight thousand dollar range. I think it's pretty safe to start looking at Subarus. Yes, it's time! At this price, you can expect the WRX to have around 140,000 miles.

Now, I'm not a Subi expert by any means, but I think that's when the head gasket starts to fail. Anyway, seven or eight is a really good price for these cars. That's probably not what they're worth. But the Subi tax is universal throughout the country. I guess you'll have to make some money back on all those vaporizers you bought. So if you really want to relieve that itch and make all your siblings jealous. I think you should realistically expect to pay that amount. They won't be the

best

examples and you probably won't find any STIs for that price, but they won't be a ton either.

If you have nine thousand dollars burning a hole in your pocket and you want something fun, I say get an AMG. Imagine how sick you will look arriving at work in this AMG C32. Sure, it doesn't have a V8 like a real AMG. I'm only half joking. But people can't tell the difference and that's all that matters. How about this S55? It's black, it's cool. I don't care if these things are time bombs that cost more than a year's rent. It says AMG on the back and that's all that matters. There are nine thousand dollar AMGs available, be careful because they will probably break down.

So what's the most fun thing you can buy for 10 grand? Easy! Honda S2000. (upbeat music) Yes, I'm going to finish my list for another Honda, but I don't care. Sure, a $10k S2K will have a lot of miles on it and won't be in perfect condition. But that does not matter. In my time I have driven many cars. I've ridden even more and the S2000 is one of my absolute favorites. There's really nothing like being in one of those things revving at nine thousand RPM. So obviously this isn't all cars in the zero to 10 grand range.

I have a few honorable mentions that I will now do in one take in no particular order. Lexus sc300, sc400, is300, former Taurus SHO, Porsche Boxster, Toyota MR2 and MR2 Spyder, Fiat 500 Abarth, Volkswagen GTI, Volvo 240, BMW Z3, ​​Corvette, Ford Focus SVT and MazdaSpeed ​​3.
