More Interesting Facts About,

the 2022 ford maverick is a city friendly small pickup truck...

They announced that they were giving up their car models to focus on trucks, SUVs, and crossovers, and boy have they delivered ever since. We have a new explorer, a new exhaust, a new f-150, the machi electric crossover, a new bronco, a new bronco. sport and now this is a new truck like I said the

maverick

starts at around twenty grand now it's based on the

ford

bronco sport but one big difference is the entry level engine while the bronco sport comes standard with a gasoline engine. three cylinders, comes standard with a hybrid powertrain. Ford hasn't said how much horsepower yet, but they have said they're aiming for 40 miles per gallon in the

city

, which would be huge for a truck.

Ford says they are looking for better fuel economy around town. than a Honda Civic, which would be awesome, but if you don't want the hybrid, you can also upgrade to a turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost gasoline engine with 245 horsepower, which is the same engine that's optional on the Bronco Sport. To me this truck is clearly aimed at city dwellers who just need a

small

sized truck, good gas mileage, hybrid power, think of it as a smaller version of the honda ridgeline but

ford

says it has some truck capabilities available with four wheel drive and can tow up to 4,000 lbs payload capacity is 1500 lbs and Ford says it fits on most off road vehicles and today I'm going to show you all that and everything else .
the 2022 ford maverick is a city friendly small pickup truck
This is a pre-production truck so I can't drive it yet, but I'm very excited to do so when it goes on sale this fall, but I can show you all the quirks and features, so today I'll do just that, let's get off to a good start. I'll start with the quirks and features. of the maverick under the hood where of course the engine is and this is very important, a standard hybrid powertrain in this truck Ford is very proud of the fact that this is the first truck with a standard hybrid engine, other trucks have offered hybrids. but always as an option, not standard like here now, Ford has not yet announced the power numbers for this engine, but we know that the Maverick's optional engine is the same one that is optional in the 4-cylinder turbo bronco sport with 245 horsepower. strength so you can imagine this powertrain probably 180 maybe 200 horsepower as this is the base model engine compared to that now it's worth noting that the hybrid powertrain will not be offered with all-wheel drive on this truck, you get a maverick with the hybrid you get with front drive. drives, but Ford says it's at least relatively capable with the hybrid engine, can tow up to 2,000 pounds with the hybrid, and has a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds with the hybrid, or, as Ford told me in a press release, 37 40 pound bags of mulch. thanks for doing that calculation for me Ford, I appreciate it, but the best thing about this truck's hybrid powertrain is definitely the fuel economy, like I said before, Ford is targeting 40 miles per gallon in the city, which It's an incredible number for a truck again.
They said they want to get better city fuel economy in this truck than the Honda Civic gets, which would really be a surprising number, so if you want something with truck duties but want fuel economy, this is definitely one It will be the best option for that job, but if you want more power or all-wheel drive you will have to move up to the gasoline engine as I said 245 horsepower turbo ecoboost and it will offer front or all-wheel drive with the larger gasoline engine and with that powertrain Ford says you can tow up to 4000 pounds, which, frankly, is pretty good for a truck like this, and since I'm talking mechanicals, it's obviously worth mentioning again that this truck is based on the new Ford Bronco Sport, so it's a front wheel drive platform or you can get all wheel drive in the bronco compact sport suv and then we move inside the maverick and there's a lot of interesting things to cover here but I'm going to start with the materials of this truck which are quite crazy In this interior, on the one hand, the seats, this fabric pattern almost looks like denim on the seat itself, you can see that it's mostly blue here and it matches a lot with the blue in the rest of the interior, the door panel for example , is largely blue and the same.
With much of the rest of the plastic here, you have a very blue interior, but as you can see, there are more colors here than that, you have a lot of orange accents, for example on the door panel, this little piece that you grab. to close the door it's orange, it's very strange looking but frankly I think it's cool. You also get orange accents on the center console. This little storage area at the front is all orange, as you can see, and you also have a little orange tray further back. lots of orange accents, same thing on the vents, you have these little orange stripes that go across the vents, all to make the truck look a little cooler and you also have this kind of weird composite material on the dash that you can see. here it's meant to replace the cheap plastic, it definitely looks sturdier and more interesting than what you'd normally find on a truck or vehicle at this price and that material also appears on the door panel, you can see this kind of strange composite material grayish and whitish in appearance and there are some strange, raised angles to the door panel that make it stand out even more.
It's interesting now, obviously, if you want a more normal interior, like gray or black or whatever, I'm sure Ford will do that. I offer that too, but I think this is quirky and interesting enough for a vehicle like this, especially since I suspect Ford is trying to get new truck buyers with this who are like city dwellers who have never owned a truck before and They want something funky and modern and so offering some of this weird interior stuff instead of just basic truck stuff is a cool way to do it and it's not for everyone here for sure but I like this interior but everyone modes, below before continuing.
For the rest of the quirks and features of this interior, I want to talk a little about the equipment. This truck starts at 19,995, around 20,000 for the base model, which of course no one is going to get, but if you can get it. The truck's most basic standard is an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. This truck also has standard automatic forward collision braking, so if it detects that you're about to get into an accident, it will slam on the brakes and try to stop. in time for you, those are very cool features to have as standard, especially at that price, around 20 grand.
It's also great to have a truck for around 20 grand. It is a very underserved market as most trucks start in the mid 20's and go up quickly once you add options and features now, as for this truck, this is a mid level version of the maverick, it is a model xlt, they are going to offer base xl, mid level, xlt and then higher spec lasso models, so this is the xlt it's not fully loaded of course, but I suspect this is how many of the customers will actually order the truck with a mid-level finish like this.
Now Ford says they will also have a first edition Maverick. sort of based on the lasso but with some similar unique accessories that are only available on the first edition model. If you want to be an early adopter of the maverick you can go for that but the regular maverick will only have those three trims xl, xlt and lariat. with this xlt in the middle, but anyway, on the quirks and features of the interior, now when you come up here you see a lot of things from ford that you are quite used to, for example this steering wheel is used in many ford models different.
Same deal with, for example, the window switches, mirror controls and door panel, typical Ford stuff here, so you've got some kind of the usual Ford items you're used to combined. with this kind of weird interior and weird funky colors, trying to appeal to those younger, funkier buyers, but you'll notice some interesting quirks and features here, one being the gear dial, which is also used on other Fords. models but it's still a pretty strange thing to get into gear, just turn this dial and you can go from park to reverse or neutral or drive depending on where you turn it, that's the gear selector on this car and many recent models.
Fords are also unusual in this center console - these three buttons here have unusual diagrams. The one on the left has a leaf and a snowflake as a flag that allows you to switch between different driving modes. The flag would be the sports mode. the leaf is eco-

friendly

and the snowflake of course would be snow, by the way, speaking of driving modes, an important element to keep in mind here if you are looking for a maverick and take it to off-road terrain, the xlt and lariat will offer an fx4 package that is designed for off-roaders who want to take this to the trails, it will offer more underbody protection and better off-road ready tires and more driving modes, you will get some additional driving modes that correspond to things you would do when you're off the pavement now in the middle of this button here with the little tire and the dots coming out of it that turns off the traction control, so you press that and the traction control turns off, maybe the most interesting button is the right, the hand with the little circles that activates the automatic hold, which means you come to a traffic light, you don't want to keep your foot on the brake, if you have it activated you can take your foot off the brake and the truck will stop automatically with the brake lights on until it is time to start again.
Also in this area you can see a small slot that is for credit cards or a parking card if you come to your office and have your small parking lot. Garage key card, you can stick it on there so it's always accessible so you just take it out, put it in and then drive or for a credit card if you're running in a self-service line, whatever you can stick on there. That handy little slot which is surprisingly useful and another pretty cool quirk of this vehicle is that next to the infotainment screen in the center you can see the screen on the left, on the right you have a little hole like hole rectangular which I assume is for storage looks like a strange place, there is a small lip at the bottom of this hole so if you put something in here it won't slide when you accelerate, but it is certainly an odd element to see a small storage hole in there .
I suspect Ford will offer a larger screen at some point that will take the place of that hole, but if you get the smaller screen like in this truck, then you'll get a small storage hole next to the screen and now comes another interesting quirk in the group of indicators. This is the hybrid version, as I mentioned before, so it doesn't have a tachometer, but instead has a gauge that shows the current energy usage in kilowatts, which is surprisingly interesting seeing as there's no tachometer. Instead, now there is an interesting thing that is increasing. at 180 kilowatts, which translates to about 240 horsepower, suggesting that the maximum horsepower for this truck is actually around 240, which would be pretty strong, about the same as the gasoline engine.
I don't have that figure yet, but it can be speculated based on this indicator. shows you, but again a small quirk, no tachometer. Now, next, another interesting element in this interior, on the center console, you can see this little orange piece sticking out next to the cup holders that are positioned that way so you can place your phone. there and it will be at a certain angle towards you, so if you're driving, it's like you're looking at your phone to get directions or whatever, at least you can have it looking at you even if it's not there.
You're not answering the text, he's looking at you, which is good. Also in this area you have a place for a wireless charging pad. You can see that it's phone-sized and flat, but it looks like this particular model doesn't have the wireless charging pad. So instead, it's just a sort of storage area for phones, but it will be there if you choose it now. This infotainment system, like I said, the nine-inch touchscreen in this car comes standard even on the 20,000th and also Apple Carplay and Android standard. automatic, which is great. The infotainment on this truck, at least in this version, is pretty basic, although it's worth noting that you don't really get much here, as you can see, it's very responsive, very intuitive, easy to use, but it just doesn't offer everything.
Obviously, you start getting into the higher trim levels and you'll start to see more features and elements packed into this infotainment screen, but for this mid-level truck model it's relatively inexpensive. Pretty much everything you get, it's worth it too. It's worth noting that there is another screen in the gauge cluster. You've got traditional gauges for most of the cluster, but there's a small screen there that provides other information, like your current speed, trip odometer status, your audio information. the information from your bluetooth some car settings, that kind of thing, so you have two screens here configurable that you can check and adjust at any given time, now, next, since no one has really sat in this truck, yet is being revealed for the first time.
I should mention the seating position up here, obviously I can't drive it like I said, but sitting here I have good room as a relatively tall adult, great headroom, great leg and knee room, and it also feels like a Quite sturdy seat. You're sitting a little higher up so you're not sure if that will actually translate to the road. I'll find out when I drive this fall, but it feels relatively sturdy like a big upright square dash that makes you feel stronger inside, it has a sort of muscle truck feel even though it's a front wheel drive hybrid that runs around 40 miles per gallon in the city and then another interesting interior quirk, when you open the door you can see printed on the side of the dash built forward, you close the door you can't see it, you look at the car from the outside you can't see it only when the door is open you have that little easter egg that reminds you every time you open the door you will see that your truck is built firmly forward and then we move on to the back seat and the maverick which has some interesting quirks and features , but I'll start with a little surprise: it's pretty spacious back here, I say.
Which with my knees against the front seat doesn't seem that spacious, but for a truck that's smaller than the Ranger, I'm surprised at how much room there is in the back seat, it really is adult-friendly. Obviously I'm not completely comfortable. I don't like to recline here, but I can sit here and that's more than I can say for some trucks that are bigger than this one, so I'm surprised at the rear seat room in this truck and obviously the headroom. head. As I can see, it's fantastic, no problems. It's also worth noting that all of these Maverick models will thus be configured with a crew cab.
All will have four full-size doors. There will not be different body styles depending on the four-door model. at least not yet, so all the hipsters will have the rear seat of this size even at that twenty thousand dollar price, but anyway, other interesting quirks back here are, again, the materials: you have the same strange materials in the rear part that you had in front, of the same type. of denim pattern on the seats, as you can see these are blue and the same orange stitching which definitely looks interesting and distinct compared to most trucks. It also has the same orange accent on the tailgate post, you can close it.
Pulling on the orange you have that same kind of weird white gray composite material on the door panel again with some of those weird raised angles that look cool, so it's as quirky and back as it is in the front again, trying to make Truckers feel accepted in a kind of non-traditional truck. Now there are a few other items worth mentioning here. One I want to talk about the charging ports. It's got several charging ports back here, including a home-style charger, which is really cool. Simply remove this cover. and there is the home charger. I love seeing home chargers integrated into interiors.
It can be very useful, especially on long trips, if someone likes to plug in a computer or something that can be very useful, but you also have two other USB charging ports. and usbc back here so all the rear passengers can charge their devices also back here another more interesting item qrikey is under the seat the bottom of this seat lifts pull this loop and you can lift the bottom of the seat and you can access the storage behind here hidden storage compartment under the back seat, so if you are driving this and you don't have a cover over your bed, you want to store some smaller items in private, people won't see them, you can store them under the seat and no one will find them you will never find there.
It's worth noting that the seat back also folds down and can be folded flat, so you have sort of a flatter storage area back here in case you try to transport something you want somewhere flatter . surface like the back of the seat, by the way, another interesting element next to the charging ports back here, on the back of the front center console, you have this clip, this little hook, basically Ford calls it Ford integrated strap and They are going to sell accessories. that clip on to this and are designed to fit your lifestyle, so for example they will be offered as a cup holder that fits here so that rear seat passengers can have cup holders or other different accessories that clip on here to that can have several different things. when you're sitting in the back of the car, that's what it's for and then you move to the back of the Maverick.
I'm going to talk about the bed, but first let's talk about the tailgate. Now when you go to open the tailgate, it obviously opens. like a normal tailgate and it folds down like a normal tailgate, no real surprises here, but this is a multi-position tailgate, that's what Ford calls it. You can unclip this little cable that holds the tailgate and then you can clip it in a little bit. a little bit higher, as you can see here, if you do that on both sides, then the tailgate rests a little bit higher, it's no longer flat and now it's kind of angled at the back, the angle where it rests is equivalent to the wheel height. arches in the bed so something can sit flat from the wheel arches to the top of the tailgate or you can glue something to the bed and having the tailgate sitting a little higher will prevent it from deploying like it would if the tailgate back out flat so it's a cool little thing and you can do it very easily by just unhooking those little cables.
Another noteworthy element on the tailgate is the bottle opener built into the sides. You can see that this piece here allows you to just open. a bottle, so if you're at a campground you can't find the bottle opener, just walk to your truck and you can open it right here. Now Ford says the Maverick will be offered with its flexible platform system, which is a complete system. of accessories that allow you to customize the bed pretty much however you want to configure it, you can have different levels, different dividers, that kind of thing now obviously I don't have access to all the flexible bed stuff so I can't demonstrate everything here.
But Ford says they were inspired to create this system by watching people loading and unloading trucks at home improvement stores, gardening stores, and college students unloading and loading their dorm rooms, which lends further credence to the idea that This is a truck aimed at the city. people don't necessarily use heavy trucks, but those who need a truck to go to Home Depot on the weekends, whatever the truck is for this and the flexible platform system will apparently help them; However, it's worth noting that even this relatively basic platform has some interesting things. quirks and features for example you can see these little rails along the side with this movable piece that serves as a tie down or a divider, you can move it wherever you want to keep the bed divided or cargo tied down.
It's got a little lockable storage compartment back here. You can open it and then put things back here if you don't want them to roll around on the bed. It doesn't actually lock with a key, but it can be locked so it doesn't come out. open it and things don't come out, you also have an outlet back here, which is pretty cool, open this lid and you have an outlet and you can power things, which is especially useful if you're out in the wild trying to use a device like a compressor for example, to raise or lower air for off-road riding and next to the power outlet you have a little light that you can turn on, obviously that will be useful if you are trying to load or unload your bed at night. or find something, just turn on that light and then you can use it pretty easily, by the way, another tailgate item worth mentioning before I move to the bed, Ford tells me the tailgate can hold up to 300 pounds when it's flat like this is so, if you're using the truck as a tailgate for a sport truck or if you're sitting in it with a friend, whatever your weight limit is, 300 pounds on this tailgate, by the way, another interesting element with this bed, you'll notice these plastic panels that go around the outside of the bed, above the tailgate, the sides even go all the way to the side of the rear window, these are bed rails and Ford says they put them here, this one piece of plastic around because we know people will be loading things on the bed and they don't want those people scratching the paint or damaging the truck, so you have these bed rails for protection, no doubt something Ford learned when they were watching the Customers load mulch or supplies at Home Depot. moving towards the rear of the maverick to see the latest exterior quirks and features, there are some interesting elements back here, one is the location of the license plate, you can see it's on the side, not directly in the middle, obviously the hitch trailer has to be in the middle, of course, and based solely on the design of the back of this truck, you couldn't put the license plate anywhere else, so it's on the side, like on a jeep wrangler, a somewhat strange position, nothing strange or bad. but it's certainly unusual to see that you also have Maverick in bed and kind of muscular, muscular lettering that lets you know exactly what you're following, but the most interesting thing, at least for me, here is the hybrid badge, you just have this small.
Hybrid badge on the exterior of the car. Now Ford tells me this is the production exterior, what the real Maverick hybrid will look like, and I'm surprised there isn't more stuff promoting its hybridization, something Ford is very proud of, but maybe I'm suspicious. Their market research has taught them that truck users aren't as interested in bragging about their hybrid power as people with a Prius or some kind of electric car, so simply slapping a small hybrid badge on the truck is enough. corner and you'll get 40 miles per gallon in the city which is pretty good and finally with the Maverick I want to talk about the styling and some exterior quirks.
Now, when rumors started circulating that Ford was creating this truck as a sort of sub ranger in its model line, most people were saying that Ford was I'll just take the Bronco Sport up front and then put a bed in the back. rear, so basically it would bea Bronco Sport with a bed which is obviously not exactly what happened since you have the hybrid powertrain, but also from a styling perspective, you see the front end. Similar to the Broncos Sport but not the same, it is relatively distinctive and you will be able to easily distinguish the Maverick from the Bronco Sport from the front if you look closely Now, as for the styling itself, I have to say I like it.
I think it looks surprisingly muscular, athletic and rugged, just like a truck like this would like. The basic front-wheel drive truck will always suffer from the stigma that it's not a real truck, so you need to make sure it's muscular and tough looking on the outside and they've made it not look like a weak, stupid or pathetic little truck. It has a muscular and muscular look, at least for a truck like this, and I think it did a good job with the styling and it's a relatively attractive truck at a relatively attractive price, so it's a thorough tour of the quirks and features of the new Ford Maverick.
This is an interesting vehicle. Just a decade ago Ford canceled the Ranger because they said there wasn't enough demand for trucks below full size now 10 years later they have two trucks smaller than the f-150, the new Ranger and now this is the Maverick. I'll be curious to see if this is a success, as it certainly burns. A new path in the truck world and I can't wait to drive it when it goes on sale this fall.
