Feb 27, 2020
The Tesla Model 3 may well be the most important car of our time. With its launch, the Model 3 ushers in a new era of affordability around electric vehicles, accompanied by sales and scale never before seen for an EV, after just one for over six

months

, it's time to dig in and Take a look, and if the Model 3 has lived up to expectations, we'll see what key features have been most important, what problems we've had so far, and what could be improved with the car. The first thing I bought my Model 3 was the only thing I could think of. throwing up to become a Tesla owner was surreal: what was going to destroy the car?

Would it live up to expectations? A million things were going through my head when I was signing the paperwork for my Model 3, which took about five minutes. In stark contrast to the normal car dealership experience, my first day as an owner was more about the car and not the paperwork. Most of the time I spent in the Tesla store was for an overview of the car and an overview of its features looking back on the first day of ownership I was now right to be nervous and full of excitement, this car has equaled and surpassed all my expectations and to say that the Model 3 is a great car is an understatement in my opinion, it is the best car you can get for its price range.

So what makes the Model 3 so good? Let's dig deeper. First of all, the look of this car is simply stunning, the design language is clearly Tesla and it catches people's attention wherever it goes. They've done a good job of creating a great-looking electric car, something almost no other automaker has done. able to do it at scale to this point, it doesn't look like a strange mobile and it doesn't look like a regular car either, which, let's be honest, if you're going to try to get people to drive an electric car. You actually need to make that car look like something people will really want.

Tesla understands this and has overcome it with its design language. The grille, the angry headlights. The sharper lines that run the length of the car towards the hips all work together to make the

model

three look aggressive but not too aggressive, the interior is just as impressive as the exterior and also catches the eye with how clean and simple it is. It seems, it is also quite practical. I love the storage space and the phone dock as well as the The USB ports on the front go to the

model

three in your ear from any other car that has a ton of buttons and indicators, it's like going from a phone with a physical keyboard to an iPhone and once you move on to this experience, you will never go back to I want to go back now, when the Model 3 was first announced, having a screen in the center of the dash with nothing behind the steering wheel caused a bit of a stir in Questions arose in the Tesla community and in the media such as how we see speed. and it's even safe, so after six

months

of owning the car all that discussion and worry was valid, no it wasn't not having a screen or gauge in front of you, it's actually pretty free.

Tesla was able to make the steering wheel smaller, allowing for better grip and ergonomics, thanks to its ingenious ventilation design technology, you can push air through the steering wheel towards your face, which on a hot summer day has been a Very welcome feature when looking at the top left corner of the screen to read the speed. It only took me a few hours to get used to and now that I'm used to it I can't say it's any different than just reading the speed behind the wheel, plus Tesla gives you a speed chime that you can set in the car too and it's something I actually use a lot.
You can set the car to chime when you reach a certain number over the current speed limit. Some people will probably find this chime annoying, but I recommend setting it up the first time. get the car if you're not used to how a

tesla

accelerates. I had a hard time determining how fast the car was going when I first bought it without looking at the speedometer, so the chime certainly helps make the ergonomics something Tesla put a lot of thought into. with the interior design of the Model three and honestly I think overall it is better than the interior design of the Tesla Model S, the cup holders are where they should be, there are pockets and the door hangers, the armrests on the console and the doors They are very comfortable and my arms never hurt.
The seats are also some of the most comfortable I've ever sat in in a car. I've taken the car on six-hour road trips and never felt any pain, something I've personally never experienced before driving. In a motor vehicle another good thing about the interior especially on long road trips is the premium sound system, it is clear, has a nice base and is one of the best sound systems I have tested in any car and it has been become one of my absolute favorite features of this car, interior maintenance has been minimal thankfully as everything in the Model 3 is pretty easy to clean, the seats are very durable as they are made from vegan leather, the only area of the car that is not. very easy to clean is that piano black finish on the center console, even if you take a lot of precautions and try not to scratch yourself, you will end up seeing micro scratches on that thing almost no matter what you do, even if I use a microfiber cloth, it's almost You will inevitably see some scratches on that material.
Now that I'm driving the Tesla Model 3 after six months, what I still can't get over is the electric torque this thing produces in its fast, non-performance version. I've been pretty quick in day-to-day situations where I'm not trying to impress my friends. It's basically like Elon said in the past. It's like having your own personal roller coaster and even after six months of ownership I still feel good every time I hit it. What powers that great instant acceleration, of course, are the model three's electric motors and battery. Having an electric car for the last six months has taught me a lot and I found that I really enjoy having an electric car more than I thought.
I leave every morning with the equivalent of a full tank of gas and I no longer have to go to gas stations, which I don't miss at all, especially in situations where people are scared more than an inch, I mean hurricanes like They did this one. Last summer and all the gas stations in the area began to run out of gas. I didn't have to panic at all with the model 3, which was fantastic. The only drawback I found with having an electric car for the last six months is road trips. No matter how you look at it, it will typically take you longer to drive an electric car on a trip than a gasoline one due to the car's range limits and the time it takes to charge it.
Now there are some ways to mitigate it. that extra time on road trips and something I did on the several road trips I took this year with my Model 3 was to plan my charging stops during meals so that when I was done eating, the car was charged and ready to go. go to the next super charging point or to my final destination, the pros still far outweigh any of the negatives I may experience when taking a road trip, you still get that instant torque, a comfortable interior and ride, and that awesome software that comes with it on the model 3 screen the model 3 software is amazing and it has been very interesting to have a car that like my cell phone receives regular software updates and these are just small improvements or bug fixes sometimes these Software updates are important features. that are launched into the car or major revisions to the car's user interface, in my experience I have received several new features since taking delivery, including a new version of the autopilot with 360-degree view on the central screen of Cars around the Model 3's blind spot display.
On the central screen, a dash camera features automatic high beams and better regenerative braking intensity. The software is agile and responsive. Navigation is undoubtedly one of the most useful things. What I love about my model 3 is easy to navigate anywhere just swipe down on the navigation bar to go home or go to work. The built-in live traffic is a blessing. Live traffic is also integrated into the navigation, which will guide you along the fastest route which, in my testing, has equaled the experience. What I understand with Google Maps is that route safety is another area where the Model 3 has held its own over the last six months;
Our government has given it one of the highest safety ratings ever given to a vehicle here in the US and I've already had some experience with its safety features, including forward collision warning, which saved me from accidentally crashing With a car once I also experienced the side collision avoidance system and it works as advertised. Suddenly, a truck entered my lane. and before I had time to react, my Tesla moved to the other lane avoiding the truck while still beeping and alerting. Now let's move on to reliability. I posted a video early on in my ownership of the Model 3 and it turned out to be a bit controversial. with all the issues i found most of them were minor issues, the charging port door sensor was not working properly so the entire charging port door assembly was replaced, drivers side windshield wiper It was loose and scraped the underside of the hood and caused a A piece of the wiper blade fell off and the hood was not aligned properly.
Tesla fixed all of these problems from the beginning; However, when they realigned the hood, they scratched the paint in several areas of the car, causing Lucas to go crazy. a body shop for repair and lead paint when the car came back from the body shop the steering wheel had scratches on it so it also had to be replaced. The only other issues I've had that have been more recent are the center armrest. It squeaks when you pick it up and the rubber part on the wood panel on the dash is actually discolored. A piece of metal fell off the charging port door.
It seems like the adhesive Tesla used for this piece of metal just doesn't hold up well in colder climates. climates now, although these problems sound like many and squeaks, it has been the longest list, at least to me, it just doesn't seem that important. I have felt very cared for by Tesla, they have done everything they have done. I have been able and have done everything right to fix the car. The total time my car has been in the shop has been two to three weeks, which may seem like a long time to many people, but keep in mind that my entire car was in the shop.
They loaned me a Tesla Model S, which made it really hard to complain about the time my car spent in the shop because I was just cruising around town, you know, going ridiculously fast and just having fun while driving. topic of things that didn't go right with my Model 3, let's talk about some of the things that I think could be improved with the car. The biggest area on the Tesla Model 3 and all Teslas that need to be improved is the Availability of the music streaming service currently, all cars come free with Slacker which has been nice but not a great experience because Slacker is It looks more like Pandora than Spotify.
When you ask Slacker to play a specific song, it will start a radio station of that song. Instead of just playing the song directly as you would expect on most other major music streaming services, another area of improvement that Tesla could focus on with the Model 3 is the windshield wipers. The automatic wiper mode has been inconsistent, although it has improved in recent years. However, for months it still doesn't work well at night, which makes sense given that Tesla uses the autopilot cameras to detect rain well, the aerodynamics of the car are extraordinary, a consequence of this is that dirt seems to accumulate a lot in the back of the car. more than anywhere else, which makes sense given how water runs down the rear glass, drips down the lid, and deposits dirt in that area.
Here's a short list of some other improvements I think could be made to the car, as well as a more scratch-resistant black finish. on the console and a manual release for the two front doors that is less accessible so passengers don't get extinct if Lee pulls it first before pressing the button to try to get out of the car with all these improvements and minor problems I've had with my model 3. I am still in love with this car and I don't regret my purchase for a second. What Elon Franz JB and all the other Tesla teams have done with this car is nothingLess than extraordinary Once you get a Model 3.
You'll never want to drive any other car and that's certainly how I still feel 6 months
