Starting out with Airsoft: The Basics / What You Need to Know - Beginners Guide

Feb 27, 2020
What's up guys? Welcome to wasted space and I thought I would make a video on how to get started in

airsoft

and I mean the

basics

of how to get started in

airsoft

so there won't be much here talking about everything. I recommend this gun, in fact I'm just going to touch on guns a little bit, but who's getting into airsoft it's a lot simpler than people think and doesn't require as much equipment as people expect, so to make the point In fact, I'm wearing the gear I wore the first time I airsofted, people, we hope I'm here looking crazy, this is where I started with a blue sweater of all the really obvious things, but that doesn't matter and I'm still low and I play sometimes looking like that, but anyway that's jumping way past where we should be so let's start first with how do I start and that means where do I go and play,

what

do I

need

when I actually start, how?
starting out with airsoft the basics what you need to know beginners guide
It's all going to work out when I get there and how much it's going to cost me, so

starting

with number one, where can I play next? Fortunately, there are pretty great hobbies around the world, there are a couple of exceptions. Sorry Australia, I

know

you. Guys cannot participate in airsofting as a sport, but other than that, most countries allow airsofting in some form and the best way for me to cover this topic is to link below, right in the video description, a couple of sites that are basically you

know

you look in your area where exactly you can find places to go airsoft, every last one of these, with a couple of exceptions where they're actually pretty high end private sites that will allow people Communicate with them ahead of time and rent and reserve gear for your first airsoft experience and no one expects people to just buy a ton of gear like this for the first time so don't think of it that way, this is a great example of that.

More Interesting Facts About,

starting out with airsoft the basics what you need to know beginners guide...

You want something fair. sturdy shoes, you want a little sleepiness and you want something that will take a little pain out of your shots, nothing more than that is absolutely necessary and you will find that most of these airsoft scopes, along with their costs for coming that day, have an additional option where you can rent equipment for the day and it will include everything you

need

as far as face protection, everything you need and a gun, basically everything you need to enjoy your first few days of airsoft and honestly, that's where I recommend that everyone get started, don't be one of those guys that goes for all these things and then two weeks later you find out that you didn't really enjoy them and that all those things are for nothing or, even worse, you enjoyed them but you didn't.
starting out with airsoft the basics what you need to know beginners guide
You didn't buy the right thing because you didn't really know

what

you wanted to do in the sport and what you were going to enjoy, so that's where it's not particularly useful. Oh no, visit the links, but honestly, that's the best way to do it. a lot of those links, a lot of those sites will have associated forums where you can also find people to talk to ahead of time, so you won't fall by yourself if you don't have someone to go and try it out with. So that's where the next one comes in and I think this one is pretty important.
starting out with airsoft the basics what you need to know beginners guide
I've touched it a little. What do you absolutely need to start with and what are they going to give you in that rental package because there is a There are a few things that, if you know you're going to have a good time, maybe you could skip and think about buying first, so the main one , and this is actually very important, not enough people pay enough attention to this side, it's the face protection, so obviously I'm wearing glasses right now, but when I'm airsofting, these won't be on, so I'll take them off at the moment for people who wear glasses, it's much more difficult, it's much more difficult to get them. a comfortable face and it's much harder to get something that won't interfere with your glasses.
Honestly, my best recommendation is to get used to contact lenses as soon as you get contact lenses. Everything is much better, but that's on the site. oh my gosh it's out now and we'll start with the likely place where people will start. These are becoming more and more common these days, they used to have these horrible full face plastic things that are slowly being phased out because they really were horrible, it's much more likely. They'll give you a set of something like this, they're usually around five pounds, maybe seven dollars, something like that really cheap, and as you can see when you get a little bit closer, they're just a mesh material designed to give you basic protection. and they do, but they have some really big drawbacks and there's a reason why I would say avoid them now, first of all, as you can probably imagine, if I put them over my eyes, about half of my vision is covered by the metal . the grille itself, the mesh itself, so it can be quite difficult to see with these on, that has a benefit, it also means that they are never going to fog up, there is no material there to fog up, but it is important that the site can see.
Where you go is pretty important, especially in the woods or a dark environment, so that's one side of things, the other side of things they really fail at is the holes themselves, so it's possible a ball to break, so let them. This is much more like another very cheap and entry level option, which will be the same if a BB hits them, regardless of how cheap and nasty they look, if it breaks it won't cause any damage to your eyes and the BBS break , especially if people use them. Cheap BBS, so I would really recommend it, if you keep the option between a pair of those mesh ones and a pair of these go with a pair of these things, then you have some options on top of them, so we have a little bit more actually a set of glasses, these often come with a set of straps as we also strap them on your head, there's nothing particularly special about these, they're marketed as something cool and exciting but not especially if you're like me .
Hot, these got really tarnished and you'll have to get a really really expensive set to try to escape that. There is also a stickier version of the mesh and again I would avoid them for exactly the same reason. It gives you a little bit better vision, you get a little bit more light, but I would still try to avoid them if you can, which I would recommend and this is a pretty absolute recommendation. The work of hell is to go for this so this is my personal sub helmet set up right now ignore the helmet ignore the rest are these goggles are tactical commander Mach seven are British military goggles Slightly unfortunate that they have these wings on which are designed to surround a helmet is that I can't get them to fog up.
I can't for the life of me make them tarnish. I have removed a bit of foam around the sides but otherwise these are an amazing pair of glasses and the best thing about them is that they cost me just under 20 quid so for about 25 bucks you need to get a bay or somewhere like that to find them, they may be a little more difficult, but for that money you won't do it. I can't find anything better than this, the only drawback, like I said, is that you look a little silly with these wings sticking out on the side of your head if you don't have a helmet next to them, so that's the side of the goggles and it I will try. and include a link to these in the video description too because they really are.
I tried a bunch, this is like half of what I've tried, these are really, especially if you're someone who has a problem with things getting damp. On you, I mean, this gives great visibility to the clear lenses and at the same time, even though you may look a little dirty, a little bit of an idiot, these are the ones that are going to give you the best time, so I'll move on to the other one. important part for me this is actually attached to my helmet this is one of the reasons I love these helmets is the lower face protection now most places don't require you to wear one of these CQB sites, it may be a little different but mostly I can get away with one of these without using one of these or maybe a plastic paintball equivalent, they are not normally necessary however use one please use one.
I have seen too many people with missing teeth because they didn't have one of them. These are there, especially the mesh ones, and remember that the benefits of airsoft over paintball in this regard is that it can be mesh, which won't be a problem in the slightest. Yes, of course, you have the idea that it could break again, but it is not your decision. The eye is being protected so young by your cheek or something, that's not so bad and at the same time, when you have this on, you can breathe, it's not too hot, you're comfortable, but it gives you very good protection everywhere.
Of those meaty bits in particular, getting hit on the side of the nose hurts so I would really recommend one of these, there aren't many options with these, you get the mesh ones, you get the solid ones and you get the built-in ones. Helmet Face Mask Deal Those helmet face mask deals tend to be a little hot, so I would be careful. I have no idea what my cat is doing. Can you stop that? Try recording a video anyway. We don't have much to say about it other than please use one. It really doesn't hurt that much to use one again.
You may look a bit silly, although I would say with the cap on and glasses, this is the natural kind of something to go with it, but get one of those as for the cap, this isn't really important. something in your head I mean, I was bored. I was wearing this specific hat, but something on your head, preferably over your ears, that's all. you're going to need literally you can go down like this, the only thing I would really make sure of is the kilobits of two reels, your eyes and your ankles, so I haven't brought any here with me, that's very negligent, give me two seconds, oh come on the Magic of editing.
Now I have some boots of two different types. In fact, these are your average hiking boots. They are fine, but the main problem and most common injury in airsoft is my ankles, so you want something preferably without this side of things you want. something a little more like this great ankle support now these are probably more expensive these are a pair of Paragon boots they are actually my brother's you don't need to go that expensive any pair of hiking or work boots will always do and when you have that ankle support, it's really important, especially in wooded environments where you could trip over logs and trees and things like that, there are literally more ankle injuries than anything else, so I guess the next part and the Horten's part to talk about is the cost because that's All well and good, learning some initial things, but what I wouldn't really recommend is going out and buying a gun first, especially in the UK, you won't be able to do that and you'll end up having to do it. . play a certain amount of games on the same site over and over again in order to get a license to buy the gun, so you don't have many options here in the US.
I know it's a little different. you can go out and get a weapon first please don't go out and find out you enjoy it first and then once you do you can go into a level that's not so basic and get something worthwhile and I'll be. We'll do some videos in the future talking about how to do that kind of stuff, how to get the most for your money, where the value points are in airsoft, that kind of stuff, you know, what platforms I recommend, what equipment I recommend, that is yet to come. I have to start here with the

basics

, how to enter.
From a cost point of view, most rentals in the UK work on the basis that you will pay for the day on site and a day at Elias off site is pretty much somewhere in the middle. £20 25 in the UK and I guess in the US it would be around $30 if your guys are similarly priced, I don't really know about that, you'll have to look around, but other than that you can expect to pay. Pretty much the same for renting a gun magazine, probably some ammo to get started and the face protection you need to enjoy a day of airsoft, other than the costs being incredibly minimal you probably won't get enough. for your first day, not if you really want to have fun, so the other thing you'll need is a bottle of these, this one is open, so although Nick bb is out of his time trial, but the bottle of these costs 3,000 unless you. come on, we give you the trigger that will probably last you, I don't know, a day, maybe a day, and that will cost you about seven pounds, about $10, if you buy decent quality balls, you don't even need to go that far.
I mean people will probably hate me for saying this, but chances are the rental guns you're using don't need such good quality ammunition. I'm specifically buying very high quality ammo because I don't want to use the cheapest stuff in my gun because obviously there are a lot of custom components in there, but I'm going to damage the barrels a lot more than I would otherwise, so I probably won't even you need them and they're not even the most expensive ones that I use, so about seven. Dollarsfor a bottle of these, maybe 14 dollars total if you really want to enjoy your day and that's the total cost of the rental site assignment, a bottle of these, you don't really need anything else to go out and enjoy a game, hello, you can see that you're in the video did it, nothing more is needed to go out and enjoy a day that are softening, however, just to finish, just to finish because I think that's pretty much it What I want to cover is more or less where, how, what you need.
What's the last thing I'm going to do? What we're talking about is because some guys are going to have to go out right away and try to buy some cool gear to get started with a couple of other things that you can get early on, maybe even before a gun really make a big difference in a type of need, so a platform, for example, we have a selection in the back and I'm actually going to take this one specifically because it's actually one of my most recent purchases. This is a platform for my sniper, but the most important part.
This one weighs about 40 pounds including shipping so it's not very expensive at all, you needed to put some extra pieces on it but the idea is that you get something like this and this will be responsible for under a hoodie. Basically, I'm responsible for managing what you have. Over here I have a series of pouches for sniper magazines in this case and pistol magazines. We have a holster for the sight of our pistol. Please don't buy one of these. It's the first gun you buy, don't use them much, they are very useful as sniping equipment, actually in other equipment, you will probably spend a lot of money on this and they say: "I'm enjoying this sport now, I wish I had." I got this first which wasted some of my budget.
They're tempting, but maybe not as good as they could be and that's basically you get something that you'll carry around like magazines and it'll give you a spot. putting empty magazines will give you a place to put your gun if you're using one and also, and I guess this is a little less important, but it definitely has a factor, it will also give you a little protection, this one is less important because This is basically just a belt platform. You can imagine a full chest rig like that actually giving you a little bit of protection as well as giving you some wear and tear to carry all your stuff and stuff.
If you get into one of those, you can get all of them. different types again. I would recommend just trying out the game first because what you get in regards to this is going to change depending on what's down there, it's going to change depending on exactly what you end up doing. I said it's a sniper platform. you can compare it to my rig to go with my m4, which is the best, which doesn't even stand on its own, which goes along with that belt, and you can see how different the two will end up configuration-wise, not just cost-wise. but those are dramatically different platforms, you have all your magazines in the front, you have room for grenades, all sorts of other things, they just aren't on that, so the last thing on top of the platforms and I guess maybe I should have come before that the platforms. clothing and some other protective gear, so this is my MTP set that I now use for some of the things I do.
I wear green with that obviously cheap like anything ex-military for us, try to pick something that's that pretty. absorbent fabric, but you can probably expect to pay something in the region of 50 dollars for a full set of this clothing, it's nice and sturdy because it's designed for military use and yes, something like that, try to buy something like this. from generic I first went for a full multicam rig including a gun and everything else and then I kind of regretted it if I'm honest, but hey, send it back. The other thing I would really recommend is a helmet, the only thing I didn't show.
For this setup, these are a bit obvious or can be a bit off-putting unless you're feeling particularly operatory, but they're also very useful, they won't make much of a difference to a BB shot, although it's fun to hear. one pulls King out of the top of the helmet and thinks he probably would have hurt you, you definitely notice it, what they do is keep you from hitting your head on trees, doors, windows, they'll just do everything else and at the same time time and this. It may seem like it gives you a place to put one of these that can be turned to the side, so just click there, not bad for both the kitties and them, and you can imagine this is in front of your face and on any time you want to unclick. from this side and it walks away, that's very useful because at the end of the game you just want to get rid of that thing or sometimes even when you're not that close to people, I tend to have that away unless it's coming in. a CQB environment, so since it's legitimately

starting

to get a little bit darker, I might as well try to wrap this up, the last thing I'll talk about quickly after I've mentioned where to go, how much it's going to cost, what you need to get started. a little bit about what to expect when you get there and a little bit about how much it hurts because that's a great question, a lot of people ask how much it itches when I'm soft.
Now I'd like to grab one of my guns, maybe I'll pull out my gun here and shoot myself in the leg, but as it should always be, it's not loaded, none of these are loaded, none of them have actuaries because that's one of the first things. that you will find When you get to off-site security, obviously it is of great importance, these things will put your eyes out, they will take your teeth out, so always unloaded, always a clean gun and that means if the guns have a type of magazine , you would use it as one more. time and clean the gun to make sure there's nothing in the barrel that relates to what happens first in a Hey, well, actually what it doesn't do is in two, how much does it hurt so little that you'd be willing to take? one and shoot me in the leg, it stings, obviously you will feel it, at least you will feel it if not through too many layers of material, these equipment, of course, you will hear it, but you will not feel it and not enough. that you should really be worried about that, so from that perspective, as long as you have good face protection, it doesn't hurt much, that's pretty much telling you that you've been shot and all of this needs to explain what you can expect. in a game day, so the main question is how I play a plow, I play airsoft, that's the big thing, the big rules of airsoft are, no matter what goal you have, no matter what goal you have, what you are.
What game are you playing, the deal is that when you get shot you either feel the hit obviously or hear the hit frequently, if it's on a platform or a helmet you'll hear it instead of feel it and stick your hand in the air and scream hit and that tells everyone else that you've been here you're out of play you're going to come back maybe your respawn maybe it's a one life game in some cases we play a lot whether it's a rolling attack defend games where the defenders will have to move back 30 yards and they can respawn, attackers only have to move back 10 yards and they can respawn and back into the attack, all that suicide hand in the air hits and you go back to respawn or whatever and everyone else will do the same in theory, Obviously, it's a game where cheating can happen and it's all based on trust and honesty, and all I can say about that is that you probably think sometimes that people are cheating on you.
Are you going to shoot them blindly and think, God, how come they don't? They shouldn't take their time. Get very angry about it. 99% of the time, you're probably not hitting them. Believe it or not, it is very, very difficult. Saying very very easily being too quick to judge and that kind of thing ruins the sport quite a bit, so try to approach this with an open mind and think that I will be an honest player when I feel my shots. and up, I take the hit, hopefully everyone else around me will have a great time too, that's pretty much the only rule, often, aside from the obvious things about wearing glasses or, like I said, cleaning a gun, that It's what you can. expect in addition to a bunch of organized games where you will represent one of the two teams usually indicated by an armband of some kind or an armband color tag and then you will play with some non-rejects and then you will play with some objectives and, hopefully , have a good time as simple as that and believe me because I know a lot of people will be a little worried about this as the first time you're off site it's not as scary as you think it would be to just have a chat with the person you're with. you're logging in say you're new and you can rest assured that they will

guide

you through the ins and outs they will gently introduce you they will give you any advice you may need because overall this is a great sport and it has a There are a lot of interesting people who legitimately want you more people come and enjoy it with them, so I hope that concludes that.
I guess it's like 30 minutes of me chatting in front of a wall with the team behind me. I'll say it again, don't go. Go out and buy something like this early guys, that's a prime example, actually this is a horrible little plastic thing that was bought for fun, admittedly it wasn't bought because it's good, but that's the kind of thing that easily They might be tempted to buy and they should. No, please at least go out and have to get some advice from somewhere else or wait for my advice, but definitely try airsoft first, try a few days of play before worrying about starting with a gun and of course I hope to return soon with a A little equipment review will tell you where to go first.
Which team might be a good idea. What weapon might be a good idea. Maybe I'll even give you a little rundown of my own personal weapons I've been working on at the moment. This has a stupid scope so I can mount the scope camera, hopefully for some later videos. I think it was nice to finally do it too. The camera video is a little strange to me, but I hope I can fix the cat problem next time, so at least not. struggling for the video recording which makes it a nightmare thank you so much for watching of course if you enjoyed it hit like hit subscribe it really helps me on the channel and if you didn't like it the don't like button Like, we start again. it will be that side click on it I don't care I would like to know at least your opinion please shut up and at the same time if you can leave a comment below just tell me how I can improve what you didn't like about this video, thank you very much guys and I will see it
