Sony WF-1000XM3 Earbuds Review: Silence the World!Feb 27, 2020
Hey guys, check here and in front of me is an amazing pair of headphones. These were highly requested on the channel and I finally got my hands on them. These are possibly also the worst named headphones in the
world. These are the
sonyWF 1000 x. m3 s and are rivaled only in bad naming conventions by their big brothers the
sonywh 1000 XM threes which I've done a lot of videos on in the past but you know what names aren't everything let's jump in and find out exactly what these headphones can To do inside the box the first thing you'll see is this neat little carrying/charging case and that's how most wireless earphones are made these days once you pick up the nice little Sony logo that's right there. now i have two
earbudsthat are charging you can see that in the red lights on each side of the
earbudsas well as the charging indicator here on the front right next to the NFC logo so Sony claims it's right here in the box. total of six hours of battery life from the e earbuds themselves and then inside the charging case once you put them back in the charging case to charge you get an additional 18 hours from the case itself so the way this works is once your earbuds are running low on battery what you do is you put them inside the charging case and then you close the lid and then that charging indicator right on the front here will light up and that will indicates that your earbuds are charging of course the case itself is also a battery so two runs out like I said about 18 hours so once it runs out you have a USBC connector here to charge your case so it charges the case which in turn charges the earbuds the case is a bit bulky but not as bulky as the power beats pro case now they look a bit similar from side to side when it really shows when you flip them over like this or this its kind of a square and this is a rectangle its not too much of a difference in dimensions however when you flip it upside down like that you can clearly see that the power beats pro case is much thicker or much taller and the problem is that once you put it in your pocket, it sticks out like a really sore thumb. the case is pretty intuitive they're held on by a lot of magnets and it's very simple to just take your bud and drop it in there it fits nicely and you can take it out like this the way it charges is there three little pins here that line up with the three little pins here and i've never had a problem getting those pins to make contact every time the earbud goes into its case it has absolutely no problem charging so on both sides of these earbuds you actually have circular touch control that's what these little circles are on either side and they act as your media controls as well as your sound mode control, the left one by default controls your sound mode and the right one by default controls your media playback ack so if you want to pause your music one tap if you want to play again a pretty simple tap by the way it will also ring in your ears depending on which one you tap and what you are doing So if I pause my music for example you'll hear a little beep and if you play your music you'll hear a little beep which is good because it gives you a response that says yes you did actually press the touchpad so it's great it can also accept calls by double tap and you can activate siri or google assistant just by pressing and holding for a few seconds so i think the first thing you'll be interested in when talking about these headphones is the active noise cancellation feature noise now that there are actually three different sound modes built into these headphones just like the big brother the three WH 1000 XM and the way it works is as soon as you put the headphones on you can choose between three modes that can be toggle with toggle that word toggle anyway i'm you sing it which you can toggle by pressing the touchpad on the left earcup by default anyway you can you set it up through the app and i'll talk about that in a second but if you touch this once you're actually going to hear a chime it will say noise canceling it will actually say one of three things first it will say noise canceling and it will go into mode ambient sound and then it will go into ambient sound off mode and those are the three different sound profiles so the first noise canceling will almost sound like you're being sucked into a vacuum most of the sound around you is sucked in , which is a really cool feeling when you first put them on it's like oh wow I can barely hear a thing. which is really cool it's not going to cancel everything although it does a less good job with human voices and things that change pitch very very quickly however there are more static sounds like plane noise, noise from a car, you know if you are on a train. you're in a busy area that's a bit thin g with passing vehicles it will do a really good job with the next down mode it's ambient sound mode and this is also a really cool mode and basically what it's going to do is the opposite to the noise cancellation it will use the built-in microphones to pick up sound from everything around you and then shoot it into your ears it sounds like you're not wearing headphones I mean you can obviously tell because they're in your headphones and you sound a bit stuffy but it sounds so much better than if you just say you put them in your ears and they took them off which is really good if you don't want to take them off and want to talk to someone or are making a phone call. or something like that, you'll be able to hear yourself and it's much easier to talk or listen to someone else that you know obviously wants to talk to you, so that's great too.
The third mode actually isn't really a mode it's kind of just turning off the other two modes you're not in noise canceling mode so it doesn't cancel the sound around you and you're not in ambient sound mode, so it doesn't absorb sound from everything around you so i don't use the third sound mode that often but it's nice to have it there in case you don't want to use the other two modes now from a sound point of view from comfort these things are pretty good they feel very comfortable in the ears despite the fact that they look a little thick a little on the thick side but they are actually quite comfortable depending on which tips i wear now for me personally , there was only one tip that really fit my ears properly and made a good seal and that was the biggest tip they had the biggest dodgy tip I could possibly do and it's almost the size of the actual stem here and that's what what fits and n my ears personally the different tips are pretty great there are foam tips and silicone tips and the silicone tips i find are a little less comfortable but they make a better seal and they are much harder to come out of the ears than the ones foam tips now the foam tips are very comfortable in comparison but i think they do slip out of my ears quite easily now that it could be due to the shape and it could be due to the material i'm not sure exactly but i like the feel of it better the foam tips but I like the safety of the silicone tips better just another little note on comfort while these are comfortable I wouldn't necessarily call them the best earbuds for athletes and the reason I say that is in actually for a couple of different reasons, one being they don't have their hooks, which means they're much less secure in your ears by default.
I don't find them terrible in terms of you. I know they stay in my ears I only put them on if I shake my head I don't feel like they're going to fly out or anything I don't feel like they're going to fly out of my ears which is a good thing they make a good seal to even though they're still not good for running or doing any kind of really intense exercise because I've found that the earphones actually move around your ears you see how big this outer part is that you know is here the weight actually goes up and it goes down when you're running and you can actually hear that in your music and it's very annoying when you're running so I wouldn't necessarily recommend these for athletes so I would actually recommend the power beats Pro for a couple of reasons like i said the outside of this is much smaller and the ear hooks make these never slip out of your ears and also never move around which is great these headphones sound great even though they have a very similar sound signature r to the WH 1000x m3s, which is a very good thing overall.
I found these headphones to be very flat sounding not too much bass and not too much treble and the mids are pretty good too and that's what I found with these headphones however I found that once you turn noise canceling on you lose a little bit of that high end don't get me wrong it's not terrible by any means and even with the noise canceling turned on it still sounds much better than many other wireless's from your friends I've tried in the past but you do lose a bit of that high end , so keep that in mind and that finally brings us to the price now these headphones are not cheap they are around 300 bucks which is not much less than the three WH 1000 XM and these are I think they are at 350 but they are getting cheaper you can find them now on amazon they have sold multiple times actually for around 280 so you can get them for cheaper than these and in my personal opinion depending on who you are there a couple of different scenarios where i would buy these or these but in my personal opinion if i had to choose one of these the WH 1000 X and three or the WF 1000 X m3s would go with the headphones the W ages and the reason for that's th The noise canceling on these is just a little better and I think they're a little more comfortable now or something for commuting to work every day or going to school or whatever.
I think I would probably stay away from these and go for more because they are so small that they can fit inside your pocket with these and the noise. cancel is still definitely good enough to get you through you know your commute if you're interested in looking at the WH 1000 X m3 now I'll have links to those here or here because I've done a bunch of different tutorials and videos and stuff like that on those so definitely check them out because they're definitely worth it if you're interested in a pair of headphones so guys let me know what you think of the sony w 1000 X and 3 it's definitely a really cool pair of headphones and if you're in the market for a pair of wireless noise canceling headphones these are probably the pick for you so if you liked this video please like and subscribe to support my channel and as always have a great day
