Sold My Tesla for a Chevy BoltJun 30, 2022
so i did i traded in my
teslamodel 3 for a
boltwhy the hell would i do something like that? Well you have to stick around and watch the video to find out why, why would I trade a Tesla Model 3 for a Chevy? but the main reason is finances and having a teenager my son currently drives a van and spends about 125-150 a month on gas and that is a good month considering the cost of electric in my state is less than 11 pennies and we can drive these
bolts and for about 30 a month this was a no brainer just for my fuel economy alone now obviously i could drive a my
teslaand have the same savings the difference is the tesla costs twice as much as my chevy bolt yup that's right i got this new 2021 chevy bolt lt for 21 600 which is more than half what i paid for my tesla model 3. and not to mention the fact that you don't want to give a kid a vehicle like a tesla model 3 especially a teenager if you are if you remember what it was like to be a teenager now going back to your teens the chevy bolt is perfect for them the way the vehicle rides and drives around town the added safety features I've been amazed at this vehicle's ability to alert the driver that someone is coming from behind, whether from the left or right.
I have already been warned that the vehicle in front of me was stopping faster than I expected. flashing red light on the dash so all these safety features that are built into the vehicle well one more i forgot to mention they help keep the vehicle in its lane give me comfort as a parent of a teen driver but again, why would you? trading a tesla model 3 for the chevy bolt costs the fact that i wont worry so much if it damages the vehicle again its 21 000 and not to mention its actually easy to drive but this chevy bolt actually drives a little better than my model 3 around d town and i think it has to do with the ride height, the way the seat is designed, the way your feet are not stretched out like a sports car, but you are setting the steering correctly, the handling the vehicle handles great its a subcompact so its so easy to park you can whip this thing into a parking spot and nothing flat this little lt is great as far as being able to haul things especially the teens they carry equipment for sports they often bring their friends so the storage area in the back is great it has a little basement in there to give you extra space it can fit five people now if I'm fair Chevy has skimped on the comfort of the seats, I really wish they would have spent a little bit more money on padding in the design, but they actually look great.
I like the design of the seats, you know, they've done a good job with the entertainment screen. It's very big, but it's not an iPad like the Tesla. it's more user intuitive i think based on how we are used to driving cars i like the head up display where the tesla model 3 doesn't have one which is something i missed while driving the model 3 let's talk about single paddle braking at first i thought this was a really dumb design if i'm honest but i actually started using it i think you just have to drive the vehicle a bit to understand its value once you get used to driving with a pedal you don't really want take your foot off the pedal and move on to the brake pedal when you can squeeze it with your left hand uh this paddle brake this car is definitely a sleeper and what i mean by that is a couple of things one when you first see it you're not going to appreciate it you're going to be like that car you want me to drive it but then when you get in and start driving it it's like uh it's kind of fun to drive that's one of the reasons why I call it There was a sleeper that you just don't expect to be as good as it is the other aspect of sleeper is that when you're in traffic people don't realize that you have the ability to take off very fast and therefore don't they try to cut you off and for whatever the reason when i was in my tesla it seemed like people would interrupt me all the time or they would where i couldnt easily merge. because no one expects this car to be able to perform like it does now GM needs to put on I think better front tires and it's something I need to look at because I find myself spinning the tires too much ok of course it's front wheel drive it probably has something to do with it maybe these cars aren't made to handle that much torque but that's something to consider every time you drive one of these vehicles so one of the features that bolt on is rail help us out and we'll test it out here see how he pushes us back to the middle of our lane see if he could do it again and it's very subtle so it's not too intrusive like the tesla the tesla would really throw you back this is just it's subtle it doesn't uh don't you know he doesn't get mad as you can see he went lane to lane on that one and uh no beeps he just goes about business something i really appreciate about uh the lane assist this chevy bolt has so which from a ride and handling perspective the chevy bolt really stands out with it's instant torque or one pedal drive of course i have the camera on me i don't know how well it will translate but i'm going to hit it and maybe look at how he pulls me back in the seat so nice awesome ok we are about to go through some train tracks which are normally quite difficult in my model 3 and truck and i must say i was pretty impressed going through those tracks of the train and again I think it has to do with the weight of the vehicle and the short wheelbase which was really s Mooth for a pretty rough train track now we're going to go from 0 to 60 so let's time it from From now.
I'll tell you when we get to 60 60. Not bad I think they advertised 6.5 seconds obviously we can watch the youtube video later to see how long it took I don't know if you heard it but the tires spun very slightly the entertainment system , the sound system on the base model, it's actually pretty good, we were going to buy a premier model so we could get the bose sound system and the 360 camera, the one that comes together and gives you that aerial point of view, it's great not gonna lie but i couldn't justify spending the extra four grand for the upgraded seats so for four grand more you get leather seats the six way camera i think it is and the bose sound system as well as in the rear view mirror it turns into a rear view camera but both my son and I agree we didn't like it it's a cool thing a cool feature but we didn't like it when we were going on the road and if you want more of the perspective of each other teen about this vehicle be sure to watch the video i will post here cabin noise i tested the cabin noise at 75 miles per hour and it ran at about 75 decibels and that's about it on par with what i had with my tesla talking of noise, one of the features that this vehicle has is a pedestrian warning system.
I didn't have that on my tesla because i bought it before tesla installed those with this one. It's not very intrusive so it's pretty quiet but it's enough to get your attention if you're around and what was really interesting if you put the vehicle in reverse you hear the noise more at the rear of the car if you put the vehicle in driving noise shifts to front not sure how chevy did that or if i was tripping but i tested it a few times to make sure i was right and you only hear it in the direction you are traveling so let's talk about charging the chevrolet together to the lake in rockwall te xas he gave me yes he gave me and paid for a level two charger installation i dont know many places that are doing that i am so thankful for that because its a game changer in our home we pull up at night we plug it in three four hours later boom its fully charged ready to go so holler again lakeside chevrolet rockwell texas if you need a chevy bolt you crazy if you dont call cody chris or co please contact Mr.
Holloman if you can' If I contact any of them they will hook you up with a Chevy Bolt with a free level two charger installed so one thing that took me a bit to figure out was how to put the vehicle in reverse this type of has a single stick shifter but once you get used to it you just have to push a button on the side and then put it in the appropriate gear but everything else about the vehicle is pretty intuitive to the user , vehicle handling is handled perfectly for city commuting getting in and out of the vehicle, steering doesn't work oo stiff and isn't too loose so Chevy engineers found that sweet spot for steering when I purchased the vehicle again.
I can answer that yes, unequivocally, twenty thousand six hundred dollars with the level two charger installed is a no-brainer. it's getting almost four miles per kilowatt and that's driving it very aggressive to see what this vehicle can do we pretty much drive it all the time in sport mode ok so if you've seen the video up to this point I really appreciate it and if if you want to see more videos like this or be notified make sure you hit the subscribe button at the bottom and do me one more favor if you do subscribe could you leave me a comment saying you did at a later time?
