Silksong Trailer Analysis - Part 2

Feb 27, 2020
Well, thank you very much for watching guys. Stay tuned for the second

part

of this video. Of course, there is nothing more to say. The

trailer

is only two minutes long, for God's sake. So it'll probably be me rambling on about the exact same shit for 12 minutes just to get more views. But I'm sure you guys will eat it anyway. gullible sacks of shit... So, the Silksong

trailer

has been out for a few weeks now, giving us a chance to look at things a little closer. There are a few things I should have mentioned in my first video, so I'll take this opportunity to talk a little more about Team Cherry's new game.

I'll also go over some Reddit posts that the Cherry team made about a year and a half ago. I'm sure they are still relevant. So, like the complete idiot that I am, I missed a huge detail right at the beginning of the trailer. I wondered why Hornet didn't escape his cage until this point in the trailer. But if you watch this scene closely, you'll notice that Hornet actually seems surprised by what's happening. You will see silk begin to form around it. After that, you will hear Hornet make a surprised sound as he opens his eyes. So Hornet is probably not the one causing this to happen.

More Interesting Facts About,

silksong trailer analysis part 2...

It seems likely that this is an effect of Hornet's entry into the kingdom, as it occurs right on the threshold of this new land. This could be similar to the Pale King, who grants greater thought to the insects within the lighthouse of his kingdom. The parallel here is that any insect that enters this realm becomes captivated by the silk. However, we don't really know what this means for errors, but for now we should assume it's a bad thing. I mean, if the silk came out of nowhere and started bandaging me, I would be extremely worried, although a little excited.

While we're talking about this scene, I have to address the idea that Hornet wasn't actually captured. Some people in the comments said that the cultists could simply be escorting Hornet to this new land. But if we look at the Silksong website we get a clear indication that Hornet was captured: “In her search for the truth behind her capture, Hornet will befriend surprising strangers, discover shocking secrets, and solve ancient mysteries in a kingdom full of wonders.” In other words, the story will involve Hornet finding out why she was captured. Do the cultists need it for some kind of spooky ritual... involving bells?
silksong trailer analysis part 2
Speaking of cultists, people wanted me to talk about this guy because he looks like a penis. So let's talk about this guy. This guy looks like a penis. Look, he has little hands and everything. But the really interesting thing about this insect is that it wields a kind of scissor blade. And he's not the only one. There is another mistake with a literal pair of scissors. Whats Next? An insect carrying a Schick Hydro razor blade? Also, these hooks that I pointed out to you in the last few videos are probably crochet hooks. And this ball that we see prominently in these golden cities could symbolize a ball of wool.
So do faceless insects control these chains? I think it's a possibility. In my last video, I talked about how the bell cult could be victims trying to fight a haunting song. But it is not a strong bond. These insects could very easily be villains. I mean, they cover their faces. Anyone who does that is a threat. Mask Maker implies that insects need faces to “define,” “focus,” and “exist.” So by covering their faces, these insects could be sacrificing their autonomy, similar to how the Radiance-controlled insects lost theirs. Now I'm a little rusty on my Hollow Knight history, but I'm pretty sure Radiance was the bad guy, right?
Another interesting reveal in this trailer is the fact that Hornet stabs himself with a Lifeblood syringe. This implies that Lifeblood will have a presence in this game. But what the hell is this blue Gatorade? Well, in Hollow Knight we see a creature that could be responsible for the existence of Lifeblood. But the fact that there are Lifeblood in this realm could imply that there is more than one of these creatures. That wouldn't surprise me. After all, there are several Lifeblood cocoons scattered across Hallownest. Perhaps these cocoons will spawn more blood-producing creatures. In Hallownest, the Pale King considered Lifeblood to be heresy.
Salubra mentions that drinking Lifeblood is taboo. And Blue Child Joni, who is strongly implied to be connected to Lifeblood, is known as Joni the Heretic. We don't know why the Pale King might have banned Lifeblood, but perhaps it's simply because he doesn't like people worshiping other gods or drinking other gods' juices. Since Pale King banned Lifeblood and Hornet injects Lifeblood with a syringe, I've probably created my favorite Hollow Knight meme: that Pale King is an anti-vaxxer. Going back to some speculation, I mentioned in my last video that the new antagonist of this game will be related to the color purple.
So I've been putting together a list of possible culprits. I think it looks pretty good so far. I think Grimace would be a good addition to the Hollow Knight canon. But I should mention that some of the bugs bleed blood of different colors besides purple. The moss bee bleeds green blood, while ants bleed red blood. Does this mean we could finally see the return of the Noid? Of course, that seal on the bell is still purple, but then again, do we know if that seal is from a good guy, a bad guy, an antihero, or a Hornet from the future?
We just don't know anything about what's going on here to say for sure. One thing I think I forgot to mention was the idea that the silk Hornet wears is made from soul. Perhaps the soul in this realm is somehow transformed into silk. And Hornet is able to channel this silk, possibly thanks to her needle or some other power. Thanks to a Reddit AMA, we know that Hornet's needle was made exclusively for her and that it's an unwieldy weapon, so it seems very possible that it contains some strange and convenient power. Seriously, you can't play music with a needle, guys.
Believe me, I haven't tried it. Also, another interesting change for this game will be that Hornet can talk! So it's possible that we can have interesting dialogue trees with other characters in the game. The biggest benefit of this is that it opens the door to more involved romantic options. This is also helped by the fact that Hornet actually has a gender! ♫Alf Clausen - The Land of Chocolate (1991)♫ Unfortunately, this time we won't be able to have a romance with Elderbug. ♫Alf Clausen - The Land of Chocolate (1991)♫ again because it's funnier the second time, right? Let's talk about this fight scene with Lace again.
First of all, I should mention that there is some kind of cage or elevator in this room. I'm not sure what she's doing there, but hey, there she is. There are also some giant pipes visible in the background, but if you look, you'll notice that some narrow at the end. I'm a little curious what these pipes could be used for. Maybe there is some type of material in these tubes that is extruded on the ends. Maybe there's silk in there or something. Some people have pointed out that Rosarios may not be a monetary system. Rosaries could be just one of the many different materials Hornet can collect for missions.
This would explain why the Rosaires don't stay on screen like Geo did in Hollow Knight. I mentioned in my last video that I think Silksong will represent each Hollow Knight ending in some way. And I want to clarify that. My reason for thinking this comes from a comment by William on Reddit: “All endings are equally canonical. We don't like 'true endings'. You choose the path yourself. “We will do our best in all future Hollow Knight content to account for all of you.” Now you could argue that since this was August 2017, Team Cherry changed their mind. Well, here's my counter.
Godmaster has not one, but two cliffhanger endings. Why would they give us two endings if they knew only one was canon? Even if Shade Lord is transported somewhere by Delicate Flower, Hornet still has some kind of confrontation with Hollow Knight. Now, I don't know how the Cherry team will make this work. As many have pointed out, the ending of Sealed Sibling wouldn't translate very well into a Hornet sequel. But then again, how many people have seen the Godmaster endings? They are a little difficult to get. Just think about all the normals who come to Silksong and have no idea what the fuck is going on.
So at least I don't think Silksong is going to create a canon ending for Hollow Knight. Another thing we need to talk about is whether Silksong is a sequel or a prequel. I've seen a lot of people speculate that Silksong is a prequel. Team Cherry has called Silksong a sequel several times. In the reveal trailer's description, it's called a sequel, and Team Cherry calls the game a sequel in their recent video update. "Hornet gets his own adventure in his own full game in the sequel to our game, Hollow Knight." “Yes” So no, it's not a prequel.
This isn't fucking Baby Hornet fighting measles or something. Now one could argue that Silksong is simply a sequel to the franchise, not necessarily a sequel to the plot. And yeah... I guess you could argue that, but is Team Cherry really that brazen? Let's look at some outside sources to see if we can learn something more about Silksong. From some old Hallownest maps, we know a little about what the Hornet DLC would have been like. There was originally going to be a Hornet fight in the City of Tears, but more importantly we might get an idea of what the next backup village will be: a lion village of sorts.
So I have to ask, Team Cherry, how the hell is a village of lions okay, but a village of snails is out of line? What the fuck? And now it's time to jump into some of Team Cherry's posts from the two Reddit AMAs they've done in the past. Most of them come from their August 2017 AMA, which is a bit old and may be outdated. Their second AMA was in June 2018, but Team Cherry was very quiet in this one. But looking back, you could tell William was screwing us. Just listen to him talk about what the Forest of Bones would have been like if it hadn't been cut from Hollow Knight - imagine your favorite area from Hollow Knight, but 100 times better.
It was huge and, if anything, TOO much fun if that makes sense. It honestly surprises me how many times Team Cherry said they were interested in giving us a third playable character. They didn't tie him into Zote much, but maybe our stay in Team Cherry's insect-themed world will be even longer than we thought. Team Cherry also mentioned the Five Great Knights, hinting that they have ideas for them. They even did it in their second AMA. If Hornet is going to learn more about his past in this game, that could mean flashbacks. This could easily give us more details on characters like Fierce Dryya, Kindly Isma, and Mighty Hegemol, since we know almost nothing about these characters.
There is also Gray Mourner or Mysterious Ze'mer. According to the White Lady, the Delicate Flower that Ze'mer gives to the Knight was brought to Hallownest by “a beloved and just knight of serene lands.” This flower could be related to the flowers we see in Lace's fight, meaning this kingdom could be related to Ze'mer. But this connection is a bit awkward. First of all, Ze'mer has a really strange accent that doesn't seem common in this new kingdom. And second, this floral connection may not even exist because these white roses don't exactly look like the Delicate Flower. And finally, even if this is Ze'mer's homeland, we probably wouldn't see it during Hornet's adventure.
In Hollow Knight, Ze'mer turns into a mask for some reason. Team Cherry has also hinted that there will be more story about the Snail Shamans in both AMAs. At least I think they did. So let me give you the 4-1-1 on these shamans real quick. And by very quickly I mean that we know practically nothing about them. They seem to have a deep knowledge of the soul and emptiness. The Snail Shaman calls the Knight a “little shadow” and recognizes the spells the Knight uses are composed of shadows or “Void.” But despite knowing what the void is, the Snail Shaman is still shocked by the Abyss's Cry, implying that his people have never been to the Abyss, so he is a bit confused to say the least.
Team Cherry has also said that they could explain how the ships escaped from the Abyss. From what we see in Hollow Knight, it seems that the ships were able to escape the Abyss, go up to the Ancient Basin, and somehow reach Deepnest, which explains why there are ships in Nosk's lair. Since both the White Lady and the Seer seemed to have been awaiting the arrival of a Ship, I think there might be a little more going on than we know so far. Or maybe team Cherry never came up with a good explanation for this. From their posts on Reddit, I'm starting to think they're just making this up as they go along.
But enough of knowledgelazy people that we may never get an answer to, let's talk about something we do know. Let me find something real quick. Umm… Here we go. One thing we do know is that Silksong will give us more information about Deepnest, Herrah, and the Weavers. Ari even mentioned this tablet in the Fungal Wastes that seems to mention the former king of Deepnest. So I wouldn't be surprised if we knew about this supposedly dead king. And that's all the relevant AMA answers I could find. Aside from the obvious Deepnest stuff, I think we'll see more of the Five Great Knights and the Snail Shamans in Silksong.
Let's finish this video by talking about what the possible release date of Silksong will be. In their blog post, Team Cherry said that they have been working on this game for over a year, with the first pieces coming together right after Hollow Knight launched in February 2017. Team Cherry worked on Hollow Knight for about two Years and a half. So if we apply that to Silksong, that gives us a release date of roughly late 2019 to early 2020. From the trailer it looks like the game is at a fairly early stage of development. You can see some

part

s of the trailer where Hornet will use his silk moves even when the bar is empty.
And you even see that some enemies don't drop silk like the others. For this bone crab guy, I'm pretty sure it's a mistake. On top of that, team Cherry has even said that this trailer was their first chance to actually play the game. “Okay, yeah. I mean, making the trailer has given us a really good opportunity to play with her a lot and understand what really makes her fun and different.” So don't expect Silksong anytime soon. But Team Cherry said they plan to give us updates from time to time to let us know about the crazy stuff they're up to.
Hopefully that will make the wait a little more bearable. Oh, who am I kidding?
