Check out this amazing copper teapot my mom bought at one of our local thrift stores. She has this excellent crispy ceramic herb. It's this porcelain or ceramic handle from Mom. This is a super French country. Mom's not going to part with this, we like the patina on it, let's clean it up a little, maybe do a little fix for her to use in her house, but look at this, guys, she bought this for four dollars, so it's great. fun find, we will do a quick little clean up and setup for you, many of you have been requesting a toriel tray.

My mom and I build a lot of trays with our business, but we also like to find pieces like this one that we paint. We took them out, we put some cool designs on them, we sell them in our markets on our website and at our other pop-up shows, so this piece was a dollar nineteen and it's actually genuine teak wood, but as you can see, it's wrapped in rough form. but we're going to make this fabulous, so we hope you stay with us, let's get to it guys. I went ahead and Mom and I taped the outside edge of this with painter's tape.

I have my oxide-oleum slate. spray paint, chalkboard paint is different than chalk paint, guys, so if you want to create something that's a chalkboard that you can actually chalk on, you should use chalkboard paint, not chalk paint. I already sent this really good one before. We start it and I'm going to spray all over the inside of this. The dogs will join us today. The big dog is my dog. That's Josie. Send mr. Stubbs is kind of prancing around here just painting I'm going to close this, you guys don't really need to look at the spray paint to get the puck and we'll come back when our next act is happening okay guys? we're going to start on our tray while our boards dry today we're going to use this blank bear chalk paint we've already stirred it up really well I'm going to use one of these cheap paint brushes that you've seen me use before for this project and I'm going to start to apply the paint.
You guys have seen me apply chalk paint before, so I'm not going to do all this on camera. We are going to make two layers with the white. Let it dry. to the touch between coats and then we'll let it dry completely before moving on to the next step of the process, okay guys, we've cleaned our bucket, we're going to use this oxide-oleum to apply paint and primer. one that offers ultra coverage, it's really great to use on metal and plastic parts, so we'll give it a good coat inside and out and we may need to do two coats on this, we'll see. what it's like, what it looks like when you guys don't really need to see spray paint all of this, we're going to give it a coat and we'll come back, okay guys, we've got our tray painted.
I did a kind of dry brushing. It has a worn look. I really love the look of it and we're going to use this paste wax from Johnson and there are a variety of different waxes that you can use. I also like a good loan wax, but when you're there, we're there. I'm going to use a Couture chalk transfer on this and when you create your own chalkboard like we did with the other piece or chalk paint something, you need to wax it before using the Couture chalk transfer or it will break up the paint. out of your project, so we're going to wax it.
I'm just using an old sock to apply this wax. I'm going to apply it and then you're going to polish it really good and let it sit and cure and then We can do our transfer, so I just put a little bit of wax on the sock. The wax goes a little and is very useful. You don't want to go overboard with the wax. I'll just apply a little more. We're going to let it dry and then we're going to polish it really good and we're ready for the next step, okay guys now that we have our board ready, we're going to use Johnson's paste wax again on this project, I'm just going to put a little bit in my sock. here and just start rubbing it on the board, as you can see we can make anything work.
We've been in the field doing this type of thing, so what she's doing is just rubbing the wax on and what we're going to do is we're going to let the wax dry for about twenty or thirty minutes and then I'll come back with a clean rag and lint free and we'll polish the wax and then we'll be ready to apply our transfer, so I'll just finish this off. up and we will move on to the next step, okay guys, we have designed mom's copper teapot. What she did was just take some packets of lavender, the nineteen and seven cent ones from Walmart, and put it in the teapot and she really likes the patina. on it so what he did was he just washed it really well with hot water and soap he just used Dawn dish soap and he cleaned it really well with that and he has it on his nice bakery stove top tray that we created and that we can sell a lot. of these trays and then she wanted to show you these other nice offerings.
These are other second-hand stores. Mom has an old whisk and some measuring spoons. The deepest teas. Ike steeper didn't reach me for some reason. The teas deeper and she hung up. I took them off this cute piece of embossed tin wall art I bought at Michaels last year that I had hanging above the stove, so we think it turned out really cute too, so it's just a little extra part of our finds at the thrift store, but I really like how the lavender teapot looks and we hope you do too. Okay, we've decided to do a B theme on this cute tray, so we're going to do our Couture chalk transfers like I said. our B and then it says humble and kind and then we have a little honeycomb design that we will do here on the side of the tray.
These transfers come all on one transfer and then you cut them so it also comes with a little crown. I'm going to show you the other two pieces. This is all you get with this transfer. Be humble and kind. The honeycomb you get Queen B and this cute little crown. We use it so much in our business. our newest and nicest transfer, we also have another one, like I said, that we use all the time, these transfers, if you take good care of them, they are good for about 50, 25 to 50 uses, we have some that we have used for a long time. 50 times, so it all depends on how you take care of them, so what I'm going to do is set this up where I want it.
I'm going to go ahead and remove my humble and kind endorsement, push it. again and when you remove these transfers from the backing you have to be careful because it has this shinier, slicker side and that's what your transfer will stick to when you put it away and what we normally do is on this back side that's more matte, we'll write like back and then humble and kind because sometimes we have several transfers at the same time and sometimes they are similar in size and you always want to get the right transfer on your back is a mark. new transfer, let's peel it off and I'll just put it on this microfiber towel.
You can also use a terry cloth towel and it will help remove some of that stickiness and the nice thing about these is that after you clean them, you wipe the back with a wipe like you would a buffalo wipe and that reactivates the adhesion of the transfer and You don't want it to be too sticky when you use it because they are screen prints and you don't want to stretch the projection which will train your ear so you can see that it's really small like no. I'm projecting there, so it will still feel a little sticky.
I'm just going to blend it out a little bit. a little bit more, I've actually gone so far as to put this against my shirt or whatever I'm wearing and I'm sorry, not nylon screen printing, okay, so I'm going to line up my humble and kind backup. on my tray here that faces the Center, move it up just a hair and you want to make sure there are no bubbles where the design is this green thing, it doesn't really matter, but where the designer's actual words are, you just want to make sure that there's no Bubbles and that actually seems a little wonky to me, so let's lift it up.
You can see how easily he got up and I'm going to lay him down again. We will do the same with B, blurring it a little. a little so that it is not so sticky. I love this company. I love working with your transfers. If this is something you are interested in trying out for yourself, I will leave a link in the description box where you can order them and view our online. catalog, we should have it next week and we'll bring you more fun DIYs with those, this is the cutest little fattest bumblebee, you guys can use these transfers on wood and metal fabric, your options are a little limited with this.
I make a lot of cute custom pillows with this screen print and I love it, it makes my life so much easier. I used to do everything the old fashioned way, but this has really simplified my production, so I'm doing the same thing with our honeycomb transfer. We do a lot of house parties where we have girls get together a large group of women that they want to spend the night with, maybe at their house or somewhere, maybe they were there for the night, eat some hors d'oeuvres and have fun creating a project with our soap opera broadcast we usually offer one or two projects a night they're really fun little workshops everyone seems to enjoy them okay so I'll grab the rest of the supplies for this and we'll get it started well guys so let's use our black chalk paste for this project.
We're going to use one of our scrapers. This is actually the medium scraper and we just cut it in half. I guess it's actually considered the small squeegee, there are also some new squeegees, but we just cut this one in half and I'm going to stir it up real good and we're going to start applying right now I have my chalk paste on my rubber squeegee. I'm going to start applying it on the edge, be careful not to go over the edge. Now I'm going to remove some of that excess from my squeegee. I'm just wiping it on the rim of my jar and I'll put it back on. your jar you can save what you remove with the spatula and I'm just going to lift this up.
The best thing about chalk paste is that I can clean it off because I haven't. I'm just using a damp paper towel to wipe it off. I wanted to show you how easy it is to work with this to size the site has been a little off today. I think it's this sinus infection that has thrown my whole balance off, so my bee transfer just went ahead and dropped her in some water. which we have sitting here on the side and we'll clean it up when we're done so I'm just going to add a little bit more let me show you a close up of the middle of my step you tell this little bee owe my squeegee is adorable and Let's go ahead and do our humility and kindness too and she promises she won't play with the ads.
I'm trying to be glad that happened because it showed you guys how easy it is to clean up if it is. a really small small area and it's a little bit close to your image you can always wet it like a Q-tip and also use it for a quick and easy clean up and I'm just making sure that my entire design is covered with the ink which is a little bit strong there is a glare from the light but wiping off the excess is fine, let's try this again guys, more failed maybe you should scrape the H, give it one more squeegee oh, it's the H, noIt matters, it's a shadow, yes, we are not. it works and that's like very access paint because it will build up, it will leave a ridge on your OOP design I see a little dot right there, okay look at this magic, it really is magic, it makes our life so easy, how cute is it. that you guys, okay, I'm going to drop this in the water and you could create it yourselves and it looks like you bought it at a high-end boutique, okay, now we're going to do our little honeycomb design, this one you're going to do . you really have to see it, you don't go over the edge, they didn't leave us many limits on this one, it really shows you what you can do this anywhere, we see a girl do it on the beach so we usually have a good surface to work with, We usually work on my table, but since it's set up with all my cute Easter staff and we didn't want to take it apart, but we're doing it right here, that's how easy this is to use, it's amazing, Misty just loaded up some more paint underneath of the squeegee. now she's removing the excess just trying to be very careful along that edge, so what we're going to have to do is do the honeycomb order on this other side along the other handle, but first we have to wash the transfer .
Dry and then we can continue. Alright guys, we washed our transfer and let it dry and applied it to the other side of the tray. I have the ink loaded on my squeegee and I'm just. I'm going to go ahead and apply the paste, yes, our paste. Sorry they also make ink and chalk inks are what you would use on glass ceramic fabrics and when you use their ink instead of what we're doing with the paste it's necessary to heat set it so we use a heat gun When we work on glass or ceramic surfaces and when we use it on fabric, we use the heat gun to dry it to the touch and then set it with heat. with the iron and then put a piece of light brown, where you are in the oven, on low heat and let it cure immediately after using the heat gun so that it is dry to the touch.
I'm sorry, I didn't explain it to you. Alright guys a lot of people don't use the heat gun and they just put it in the oven so it's a personal preference we just like to be sure okay let's take the excess off my squeegee and we'll lift it up. so let me give you a look at this, it's really cute, okay guys, for the board we're going to give it more of a farm look and we've got our farm transfers. All the transfers you will see in this project come as one big one. transfer and there are a few other pieces as well, there are probably three or four other transfers that weren't even used in this project, so this is a really neat transfer, you get a lot with it and a lot of versatility with the detail on this chicken wire, is so Okay, so we'll use white.
We think white on black will look good. I put the white chalk paste on my squeegee and I'm going to start checking the red screen on my watch. That's not what it was. I know it's starting to slip. I'd say it's a sure sign of old age, but that would be rude. Oh, I just fed him. Yes, sorry, I'm going to add a little more pasta. Here you have to work a little fast. this beat is tight, paint, chalk, paint, it dries very quickly, it doesn't paste, yes, paste, you definitely don't want it to dry on your stencil, it dries on the screen print and you can also throw it in the

trash

, you can, you can scrub it off , but don't Don't let it sit, you want, you want to work quickly and that's why it's so important to put it in the water afterwards, so we always have the tubs or my sink full of clean water.
We are very demanding with our transfers. You may see some. Other designers say you know if you let the paint dry, Anam and all that, and you can still clean them, but we like we said we've gotten over 50 uses out of a lot of our transfers and it's because we take good care of them and we're very meticulous with them, so if you really want to get the most out of your money and get the most out of your transfers, good cleaning and careful use are very important, okay, we're ready to do it. Bad boy, and this, as you can see, is a lot longer than the section we're using, so it's a good size and it works great on the first side and pulls up, cuteness.
I'm going to put that in the water. I'm going to hit. Hit this with the heat gun real quick just to dry it out a little bit because I'm going to put my next transfer right in front to see this so I just have a heat gun here and like I said I can hit this but I don't want to run no risk, turned out to be pretty cool guys, so I went ahead and put my cow transfer on the ground and lined it up so its hoof was almost touching the chicken wire. We didn't want there to be a big gap between the two, so I'm going to start applying my paste.
Alright. I've got it all covered in the paste, so I'm going to hit it with the heat gun again and we'll make the next piece for you guys to do. Look where we're going with this. I've stacked my pig on top of my cows and I'm going to go ahead and apply my chalk paste. I've seen, you know, this stacked farm animal look on a lot of signs and different decor pieces and I think it's really cute and I think it's a nice design for this elongated chalkboard, you might hear some rustling in the background. We just fed baby Josie, she's just a baby, she just turned February 17th. just removing the excess paint, okay, let's lift this up, we have a little bit of cleaning and why?
I don't know, it didn't go off, it's part of that angsting in the celery, yeah, they do angsting, it could be a little, it looks like a flaw, but it's supposed to look overly stressed and it really doesn't, we think we're not going to take it into account. this, so wait a second, we'll clean it up. I'll show you guys how easy it is to take care of this with the swab. I have a wet end in a dry end and am going to get a new one to remove the stains. Okay, let's heat this up and show you our next step, okay, we have our rooster applied to our pigs and I'm just going to put the paste on it, your chickens are suspended, but it still looks cute with the final tip, okay guys , we are.
I'm going to put the final touch on this. I think I want to bring out this mom side because okay, here it gets confused with the reveal, okay guys, so this is what our cut couture design turned out, like we weren't done with this project yet. paint the rest of this white and distress it again to give it a real farmhouse look and this project, if you didn't include drying time, from start to finish with the chalk part, is really only a 10 or 15 project minutes with the dry part. time it took us about 30 minutes so we're going to get ready to start painting this and we're going to come back okay guys we're going to use our nude chalk paint and I'm going to start painting it and just Using the same cheap brush that we used for the tray I'm going to have to touch it up because it would need to go into this slot, so some paint will go in here where I painted this black. and I'm going to have to touch it up at the end because it has this little detailed groove and in order to get the paint where I need it, we don't want to put any paint or tape on that. fresh paint because it can be removed so it's not a big deal to touch it they're just trying to get down here on the side guys but you guys have seen me do dry brushing before in previous videos it's also in the bead tray video .
Like a little bit of this in the little pedestal video I made, I'll link them in the description box below, but I'll go ahead and finish the sides and when I make this top surface, it'll be a little bit bigger. I'm going to turn the camera back on so you can see okay guys these are our finished second hand Sunday makeover projects. I went ahead and did the cube off camera because we used the same transfers and techniques we used in the video. We'll come up and show you everything, but we love how everything turned out and some of you may ask: do they do everything in black and white?
No, no, this was just what we had in mind, those are the colors we had. mind for these projects and today we were going to do a stenciling technique for you that is not chocolate couture, but once we got out the choc Couture and started playing, it's so addictive that we decided to continue with it today, so let me continue with you . Close and show you what we did here. This is how our tray of being humble and kind turned out. We did a wet wash right around the edges and like I said, I did a dry brushing technique.
I love, love, love our farmhouse chalkboard. I think it turned out great and that's how our little queen bee bucket turned out. I love and love the queen bee font so we really hope you enjoy these makeovers we created for you. We will return next Sunday. for another second hand

sunday
