Sadhguru On How to Manifest What You Really WantNov 04, 2021
Sadhguru: Even without doing any activity, you can still
whatyou desire if you organize these four dimensions in one direction and keep them unwavering in that direction for a certain period of time. Now he believes Shiva will do it for him and it will happen. So, will Shiva come to build your house? No, I
wantyou to understand, God will not lift his little finger for you. What has not happened until now on this planet can happen tomorrow. Human beings are capable of making it happen tomorrow. Everything that we, as human beings, have created on this planet, was essentially created first in our minds.
Everything you see, which is human work on this planet, first found expression in the mind and then
manifested in the outside world. The wonderful things we have done on this planet and the horrible things we have done on this planet come from the human mind. So if we care about
whatwe create in this world, it is extremely important that we first of all learn to create the right things in our minds; how we keep our mind. If we do not have the power to keep our mind the way we
want, what we believe in the world will also be very accidental and disordered.
So learning to create our minds the way we want is the basis for creating the world the way we want. There is a wonderful story in the yogic tradition. One day a man went for a walk. He took a long walk. Accidentally, without realizing it, he entered paradise. Lucky, right? He just took a walk and landed in paradise. After this long walk he felt a little tired, so he thought: "Oh, I'm tired, I wish I could rest somewhere." He looked around and there was a nice tree, under which there was very fluffy grass. So he was tempting, he went and laid his head there and slept.
After a few hours he woke up, well rested, and thought: "Oh, I'm well rested, but I'm hungry, I wish I had something to eat." And he thought about all the delicious things he ever wanted to eat in his life, and instantly all those things appeared in front of him. You must understand that the service is like this. Hungry people don't ask questions. He brought the food and ate. His stomach became full, so he thought, "Oh, my stomach is full, I wish I had something to drink." All the good things he ever wanted to drink, he thought about it and they all appeared in front of him.
People who drink don't ask questions either. So he drank. Now with a little alcohol in it…. You know, Charles Darwin told you, "You were all monkeys, did your tails fall off?" Not me, Charles Darwin told them that they were all monkeys and their tails fell off and then they became human. Yes, the tail definitely fell off but the monkey... In yoga we always refer to an unset mind as markata, which means monkey. Why do we refer to the mind as if it were a monkey? What are the qualities of a monkey? One thing about a monkey is its unnecessary movement.
And another thing about the monkey is: If I say, "You're playing with someone," what does it mean? Imitation. Monkey and imitation have become synonymous. So these two essential qualities of a monkey are very much the qualities of an unestablished mind. Unnecessary movement, you don't have to learn it from the monkey, you can teach it to the monkey. And imitation is a full-time job of the mind. So when these two qualities are active, the mind is called mono. Then this monkey became active inside him. He just looked around and thought, “What the hell is going on here?
I ordered food, the food came; I ordered a drink and wine; There must be ghosts around here! And the ghosts came. “Oh, the ghosts have come, they are going to surround me and torture me,” he thought. Immediately the ghosts surrounded him and began to torture him. Then he started screaming in pain and said, “Oh, they're going to kill me,” and he died. Just now he said that he is a lucky being. The problem is that he was sitting under a Kalpavriksha or a wishing tree. He ordered food and the food arrived. He asked for drink and wine.
He asked for ghosts, ghosts came. He asked for torture, torture came. He asked for death, death happened. Now don't go looking for these Kalpavrikshas in the forest. Today you can hardly find a tree. A well-established mind, a mind that is in a state of samyukti, is called Kalpavriksha. If you organize your mind to a certain level of organization, it in turn organizes the entire system. Your body, your emotions, your energies, everything is organized in that direction. Once all these four dimensions of yourself, your physical body, your mind, your emotion and the fundamental life energies are organized in one direction, once you are like that, anything you want will happen without even lifting a little finger.
It would be helpful to help you with the activity. But even without doing any activity, you can still manifest what you want if you organize these four dimensions in one direction and keep them unwavering in that direction for a certain period of time. Right now the problem with your mind is that it is changing direction every moment. It's like you want to travel somewhere and every two steps if you keep changing direction, the question of reaching the destination is very remote unless it happens by chance. So by organizing our minds and in turn organizing the whole system and these four basic dimensions of who you are right now in one direction, if you do this, you yourself are a Kalpavriksha.
Everything you want will happen. But right now, if you look at your lives, everything you have wanted until now, if it happens, you will be finished. Everything and everyone you've ever wanted, if all of that lands in your house today, could you live with it? Once we are empowered in this way, it is very important that our physical action, emotional action, mental action and energetic actions are controlled and directed appropriately. If not, we become destructive, self-destructive. Right now that is our problem. The technology that is supposed to make our life more beautiful and easier has become the source of all problems, that we are destroying the very foundation of our life, which is the planet.
So what should have been a blessing, we are turning into a curse. What has given us incredible levels of comfort and convenience over the last hundred years has also become a threat to our lives, simply because we are not in conscious action, we are in a state of compulsive action. So, organizing our mind fundamentally means moving from a compulsive state of activity to a state of conscious activity. You may have heard of people who are asked for something and, beyond all expectations, it comes true. Generally this happens to people who are in faith. Now let's say you want to build a house.
If you start thinking, “Oh, I want to build a house, to build a house I need fifty lakhs but I only have fifty rupees in my pocket. It is not possible, it is not possible, it is not possible.” The moment you say “It's not possible,” you are also saying “I don't want it.” So, on one level you are creating the desire to want something, on another level you are saying “I don't want it.” So in this conflict, that may not happen. Someone who has some faith in a god or a temple or whatever, who is naive;
Faith works only for those people who are naive. Thinking people, people who think too much, it never works for them. A childish person who has a simple faith, in her god or her temple or whatever, goes to the temple and says, “Shiva, I want a house. “I don’t know how, you have to do it for me.” Now there are no negative thoughts in his mind. “Will it happen, won't it happen, is it possible, is it not possible?” – these things are completely eliminated by the simple act of faith. Now he believes Shiva will do it for him and it will happen.
So, will Shiva come to build your house? No, I want you to understand that God will not lift his little finger for you. What you call "God" is the source of creation. As a creator he has done a phenomenal job. No doubt about it. Can you think of a better creation than this? Is it in anyone's imagination to think of something better than what there is now? So as a creator he has done his job wonderfully well. But if you want life to happen the way you want, because right now the crux of your happiness and your well-being is this: in any case, if you are unhappy, the only and only reason why you are unhappy is life.
It's not happening the way you think it should happen. That's all. So if life doesn't happen the way you think it is... it should happen, you are unhappy. If life happens the way you think it should happen, you are happy. It's as simple as that. So if life has to happen the way you think it should happen, first of all, how you think, with what concentration you think, how much stability there is in your thinking and how much reverberation there is in the thinking process will determine whether your thinking will become actually either it is just an empty thought or how it does not create any impediment to your thinking by creating a negative thought process.
This possible… “Is something possible or not possible?” It is destroying humanity. What is possible and what is not possible is not your business, it is nature's business. Your business is simply fighting for what you want. Right now you're sitting here, if I ask you two simple questions, I want you to just look at this and answer this. Right now, from where you are sitting can you just fly? You say no. Right now from where you are sitting can you get up and walk? You will say yes. What is the basis of this? Why do you say no to flying and yes to walking?
Because the past experience of life. Many times you have gotten up and walked, you have never flown away. Or in other words, you are using past life experience as a basis for deciding whether something is possible or not. Or in other words, you have decided that what has not happened until now cannot happen in your life in the future. This is a shame for humanity and the human spirit. What has not happened until now on this planet can happen tomorrow. Human beings are capable of making it happen tomorrow. So what is possible and what is not possible is not your business, it is nature's business.
Nature will decide that. You just see what you
reallywant and work towards it; and if your thought is created in a powerful way, without any negativity, without any negative thought, lowering the intensity of the thought process. The first and most important thing is that you must be clear about what you
reallywant? If you don't know what you want, the question of creating it doesn't arise. If you look at what you really want, what every human being wants is: they want to live with joy, they want to live in peace, as for their relationships, they want them to be loving and affectionate.
Or in other words, all any human being seeks is complacency within himself, complacency around him. This pleasure, if it occurs in our body, we call it health and pleasure. If it happens in our mind, we call this peace and joy. If it happens in our emotions, we call this love and compassion. If it happens in our energy, we call it bliss and ecstasy. This is everything a human being seeks. Whether you go to your office to work, want to make money, build a career, start a family, sit in the bar, in the temple, you are still looking for the same thing; inner pleasure, surrounding pleasure.
If this is what we want to create, I think it's time we address it head on and commit to creating it. So, do you want to create yourself as a peaceful human being, a joyful human being, a loving human being – a pleasant human being on all levels and you also want a world like this – a peaceful world, a loving world, a joyful world? "No, no, I want vegetation, I want food." When we say a glad world it means that everything you wish for has happened. Then this is everything you are looking for. So, all you need to do is commit to creating it, to creating a peaceful, joyful and loving world, both for yourself and for everyone around you.
Every day in the morning, if you start your day with this simple thought in your mind: "Today, wherever I go, I will create a peaceful, loving and joyful world." If you fall a hundred times a day, what does it matter? For a committed man there is no such thing as failure. If you fall a hundred times, a hundred lessons to learn. If you commit like this, to creating what really matters to you, now your mind is organized. Once your mind is organized, what you think is what you feel, your emotions will be organized. Once your thought and emotion are organized, your energies will be organized in the same direction.
Once your thought, emotion and energies are organized, your own body will become organized. Once these four are organized in one direction, your ability to create and manifest what you desire will be phenomenal. You are the Creator in many ways. That which is the source of creation is working within you in every moment of your life. It's just that: have you maintained access to that dimension or not? Organizing the four basic elements of your life will give you that access. There are tools and technologies to do this. The entire science of yoga, the entire technology that we refer to as yoga is about precisely this: transforming you from being just a piece of creation to becoming a creator.
It is my wish and my blessing that every human being in this world has this access to the source of creation within himself so that he can function here as a creator.
