Scrapbooking Process #699 Pinkfresh Studio / Love You My Girl
hey there friends it's missy again thanks so much for stopping in today i have a new layout to share for

pinkfresh

studio

and today i'm going to be featuring one of the brand new washi tapes that they just released earlier this week this one is called blossoms and berries and these really beautiful pink flowers with strawberries mixed in and i also have the matching metal die and if you've never used these washi tapes before they're super easy to use and cut out all you do is roll it on to either some card stock or some vellum or whatever paper you want this is just plain old regular textured white cardstock here and then the die is going to match up to where the flowers are so all you have to do is attach it i'm just going to use some scrap washi tape here in just a minute because i couldn't get the dye to be still because it's so long but it matches up to the order of everything when you roll the tape out and then you just roll it through your manual die cutter there and it cuts everything out in one swoop um it's really easy to do they did a release of similar styles of tape a few months ago and so this is the next batch of these and there are several different ones this is the one that i received to play with and so i'm gonna do a pass through here on my little manual die cutter and just show you how easy it is to cut these out and you could certainly fussy cut these with scissors but look how fast and easy that is so yeah lots of...

pretty pinks and then a couple of little tiny they kind of look like teeny tiny blueberries but i'm going to focus on the pinks and the greens and i have two black and white uh photos here of me and my oldest daughter from earlier this year and i'm trying to just figure out how i want to incorporate them into the design with the washi tapes and i wanted to start with the wreaths so that's where i'm gonna where i'm gonna start and i'm gonna do some mixed media on the background i'm gonna use textured white cardstock this time for this background and then that's clear gesso that i'm applying to that and i the reason i use textured instead of smooth is this right here i wanted to use some of the pink fresh

studio

little ink cubes and when i do this technique of just rubbing the ink pad on top of the paper i like to use the textured cardstock because the texture of the cardstock shows up when you when you rub the ink on there and i

love

that and so something interesting happened when i use these two gray ink cubes here once i rubbed them down and then added water and started making it turn into watercolor basically some of it turned pink and it was really interesting i'm going to show you up close here and i don't know if you can see it from here but something about the the ink and the water and the gesso there's this pink tint to it and i as you can see i have used zero pink anything at this point um except for the washi tape but i...

mean mixed media wise and i thought that was so neat and interesting um this pink just sort of showed up so i've had that happen to me a couple of times when i'm using ink pads with this gesso i don't know if it's just some kind of um ingredient in either the gesso or the ink that changes the color but i got this light pink color there you can see it i swear to you i didn't use any pink i just used the gray but i thought it looked kind of cool so i just went with it and i want to try to stack the two photos on top of each other so i'm trying to do this big gray area kind of in the middle so where you'll see it kind of peeking around the edges i decided to add in a couple of sprays this one is a shimmers called gray flannel i believe because i i wanted to get kind of this dark graphite gray color since i'm using the black and white photos i'm going to have a lot of pink and green going on in this layout because of the washi tape i wanted something different on the background i wanted something neutral that would enhance the washi tape but also allow the photos to stand out so i didn't want to go crazy with pink or green on the background but apparently i'm gonna have some pink on the background because of that interesting phenomenon with the ink pads there so yeah i'm just gonna play around it's almost dry i like how this is looking and we're just gonna continue to work on that i'm going to come back in with a little...

bit more of that spray because i do want some darker areas on this background and i'm going to use water i'm going to use my brush and then just turn the page this way and that way just to get the paper or not the paper the paint the color kind of floating around into different areas and the two gray ink pads that i have there from pink fresh are licorice and metropolis in case you're wondering and i'm going to link those down below so if you want to visit this store you can get those inks but yeah right now this looks like a big gray wet mess which mixed media tends to look that way a lot of times until you get it finished until you you know until it dries and until you put everything back on top of it it it kind of looks that way and my paper did warp a little bit because like i said earlier this is just textured white card stock so i let it dry and then i flattened it overnight and i like how that's looking um and when i do that i put some heavy paper pads like i have several big paper pads of patterned paper or cardstock and i just lay them on top of it overnight so it kind of flattens it out so i can continue working on it the next day so i decided to kind of go with the whole idea of that little bit of pink in the background and then add some more pink to it and so i pulled out another one of my shimmer sprays this one's called ruby and just kind of control how much i add i don't want to go crazy i'm going to mix in a little bit of an...
orangey color called mango tango i'm trying to mix a couple of colors to get the the pink from the flowers and i also wanted to mention i'm using these sprays because the pink fresh

studio

liquid watercolors that i usually use are on clearance they are discontinuing them and the last time i checked there were only i think four colors left they're only three dollars and when they're gone they're gone so if you want to see what's left i'll link those down below too but yeah they're almost gone and once they are out of there they are not coming back as far as i know but yeah i'm just going to add in a little bit of paint here and there to kind of pull from the pink and the flowers but i want the dominant color on the background to be gray so yeah i'm gonna add some splatters and just keep working on it until i get it like i want it and then bring everything back and see how it looks then i decided to come back with some more of the gray to add gray splatters because you know i

love

grey splatters and then i'm going to come back in with that dark gray licorice and just kind of dab it on since the background is still slightly wet and then use my finger to kind of smudge it because i wanted a couple of really dark gray areas not necessarily black but just dark gray to kind of match the photos there so that's what i've got kind of got so far and we're just going to go with it and see how it turns out i'm going to work on...
layering some white tissue paper behind the photos there and this is just going to create a little bit of a subtle layer behind the photos i am going to come in in just a minute with some patterned paper but i like to use tissue paper just to kind of start the layering

process

and then this is a pattern paper from the happy blooms collection which is the newest full paper collection from

pinkfresh

studio

and this is just a pink plaid or checkered type of patterned paper and i just want a little bit of a pink border around the photos there i didn't want to do so much that it took away from the washi tape because the washi tape is the main thing that i'm trying to feature here so i just wanted something subtle and i did want a little bit of separation between the black and white photos and then all that dark gray on the background since the gray is pretty heavy on the background and in the photos the pink kind of acts as a barrier between that and kind of separates it which i like and then i'm just going to tuck the two photos inside the wreaths and that's how that's how it's how the whole idea started when i just started playing around with everything in the beginning um the wreath sort of jumped out at me as a starting point and so i'm gonna kind of attach those together and then go ahead and add some adhesive foam behind there to pop those up because i

love

dimension and adhesive foam is a great way to create a little bit of dimension on your...
layouts and i just use kids craft foam here i usually get that at walmart it comes in a pack of i think 40 sheets they're all five by seven sheets and there's adhesive on the back so i just peel it off and then stick it down and you can easily cut it to any size or width or length or shape or whatever to make it kind of fit behind anything that you're trying to add it to so then i went through all the rest of the washi tape and then some of the stickers and die cuts from the happy blooms collection and picked out pretty much anything that was green or pink that kind of would go with this and then i realized as i was starting to embellish that on the bottom photo where the wreath is the strawberries are upside down and i did not notice that until after i had gotten to this point so i'm gonna pull in some of the other strawberries that are from the washi tape that are kind of just loose strawberries and i'm going to put those on top of there because you might not even have noticed it but it was bugging me and i didn't want the strawberries to be upside down i am going to cut a couple of these butterflies from another patterned paper from the happy blooms collection to scatter around the page in a few places and then on that cut apart sheet i got this little

love

you sentiment and then this green scalloped piece that i'm gonna use somewhere i mainly wanted to keep that scallop circle white but i i cut it to where there's a green border around it...
and i just thought i might layer it somewhere for just like a little hint of green and i like how that looks kind of where i tucked the pieces around the wreaths but kind of because it kind of again helps separate the wreaths from the dark gray on the background and helps them stand out just a little bit more i've got three butterflies that i'm going to use at this point and then i went back to the little smaller pieces from the washi tape and i'm going to tuck in a couple of those around the outer edges of the photos and then that's where i'm going to put those little strawberries and i'm trying to decide how do i want to add more to the top like above the photo and then down below how vertical do i want to go or do i want to try to keep everything kind of close around where the photos are not sure yet i am going to fussy cut out some of the just the flowers on the washi tape pieces to add here and there i'm going to layer those two on top of the photos there i like to do that when there's room and then i tuck a couple of die cuts and stickers and i did not have the exact color pink of these flowers and the washi tape so i'm going to kind of mix and match kind of a coral and a pink thread together to kind of make that pink color and it actually worked because when i look at that thread now it looks like it matches the pink flowers even though they're two different colors just kind of tangled up together there so i'm going to add...
that first part of the thread or not part but the first thread that i tangled up down at the bottom and then i'm going to repeat the same two colors together up at the top because i'm feeling like whatever i do at the bottom i kind of need to do at the top since i've got kind of a half and half thing going here so i'm trying to make sure the top half matches the bottom half and then i'm gonna start to glue everything down and i'm using scotch tacky glue in my fine liner bottle there that's the only glue i've ever used in there and by the looks of my bottle you can tell that i have used it for several well not several i would say three at least three years the labels weren't off because my fingers always have paint and gesso and glue on them and so that's why my bottle looks like that i

love

that bottle and i'm gonna use it until it finally falls apart on me but yeah it works great with that glue highly recommend so i did decide to do a little bit of embellishing above the photos i'm going to add another flower up at the top along with that little green sticker that says memories and then add another one right in the middle of the two photos and then one down here at the bottom um and i just keep playing around with bits and pieces of things i pulled out the six by six paper pad and found a couple of really tiny things that i feel like would work i'm going to use that little tiny butterfly and then i'm going to cut out...
the scallop circle again i cut out the big one earlier from the 12 by 12 cut apart sheet and so i'm gonna do the same thing here i cut out another butterfly this one's really small and then this little piece here says i think it says at home together and i'm going to use that i'm just not sure where yet and then yeah i'm just going to keep layering stickers in this is a little pink label sticker that i decide to cut in half and kind of wedge in between the um the background and that little green memory sticker and then i'm going to try to do the same thing down here at the bottom problem is now i've already glued all that down and this is just a testament to how good the scotch tacky glue is because i tried to peel up what i had glued down and it was really hard to do so i have to get out my little uh cricut spatula thingy there to kind of wedge under there to pry it up and that worked okay i think i've used that little cricket spatula tool for a lot of different things comes in handy you never know and i bought that thing probably when did i get my original cricut let's say 20 maybe i don't even use it anymore i got a cameo years ago but i kept a little tool kit because it works great on a lot of things here's where i'm going to use the little small white scallop circle i'm going to tuck that in at the top and the bottom to kind of mimic the bigger ones that i used on the sides of the photos and again i'm going to keep...
those white because i feel like it just kind of helps keep everything around the photos a little bit separated from the background and just here's a look at the dimension i've got so far i glued just the bodies of the butterflies down so the wings could pop up and here's where i just decide to get crazy and hack up the background yeah it's not as crazy as you think but i felt like the the rest of the background was just too white and boring but i didn't want to make it too busy and crazy so i'm going to do this so i just cut out some little wonky slivers of the background and then ran my edge distresser over it and then i'm going to take that same green that's not green that is pink hello pink checkered paper that i used to layer behind the photos to back that with so you have these little slivers of pink along the edges and i just feel like that kind of brings the the rest of the page together i don't know sometimes it just takes a little bit of something to finish off the layout and give it a big a big finish feel even though it's just something small like little slivers of pink but um yeah i took a break came back and decided to do some stitching so i got out my sewing machine and i used metallic gold thread and i added stitching little trails behind all the butterflies and then i did zigzag stitching along the edges where the white meets the pink because i don't know there's some gold foiling i didn't even mention this...
earlier i don't even know if you could tell but there are um bits of gold foiling on this washi tape and so i thought gold would be a good addition with the thread because it just adds a little bit of shine and kind of mimics the gold and the washi tape and then i wanted to do some small clusters on the sides where the pink is and so i cut another one of those little scalloped circles from the second copy of the 6x6 paper pad and then i ran another pass of the washi tape through my cutting machine so i would have more flowers but i didn't film that part because you'd already seen me do all that but um i'm gonna pop some of these flowers up with some adhesive foam to create just a couple of little clusters there on the sides so they wouldn't be just boring pieces of pink paper i wanted a little something extra and again to use more of the washi tape since that's the focal point of this layout so i'm going to keep working on that and then glue it all down and i'm almost getting toward the end here but yeah i'm glad i did that on the sides i feel like it just sort of brings everything together and there's still plenty of open white space everywhere so i feel like the the white empty space balances out all of the busy parts you know um i'm gonna use some of the essential crystals here i

love

these i'm going to link those down below i'm just using these light green ones there's these little bitty jewels that they're flat...
on the bottom and then kind of pointy at the top and you can see through them and they come in three different sizes and so i'm going to scatter those around the page just to kind of pull out the green since i've used a lot of pink and yeah i've scattered those all over the place in little clusters and glued all those down you can see there how cool they look they add great texture dimension sparkle

love

those i've used those quite a bit on my pink fresh layouts and we'll continue to use those because they're awesome and then i decided to use the little alphas here i'm just gonna put my

girl

at the bottom i was looking for something small and short and that i had all the letters of the same color so we're just gonna go with my

girl

and then i'm gonna add the journaling over here to the right and i do add some more splatters i think it adds some gold splatters at the end but that's gonna wrap it up here comes the final layout i really like how this turned out i think it's really pretty and the washi tape is beautiful i'm gonna link that down below there's several different new ones if you want to check those out but i also wanted to say this is going to be my final layout for

pinkfresh

studio

for the foreseeable future the new term starts july 1st and i decided to step down from the team i've been on the team for two and a half years and i just need a break not anything to do with the team or the products absolutely

and everyone associated with it it's just me i need a break from deadlines you know i know i've stepped down from a few teams several months ago and i just feel like i need to kind of step down some more it's just getting stressful and kind of overwhelming to continue to create for deadlines and i just feel like i'm kind of going through some changes in my real life where i just need to create for fun and not necessarily for a job if that makes sense and i may be back at some point but for now i'm just gonna kind of take it easy and hopefully just kind of scrap when i feel like it um still going to be on the page evans team for a little while but for now this will be my final layout for

pinkfresh

i hope you enjoyed this i'm going to link everything down below thank you so much for watching and i will see you next time
