My body works differently than my friends, even though we're the same when we're sitting on the mat in class. 1 diabetes i was confused i was angry i was sad and scared it's also important to stay healthy so mom dad and i did classes with a special nurse so what is

1 diabetes?

It means my body doesn't make the hormone insulin, which turns sugar from food into energy yippee when you hit Chris doesn't make this hormone and your body can't turn food into juice jumpy sugar levels in your body finally skyrocket Sky High and then you feel weird like I was flat as a pancake that was me I had a weird tummy and I was overweight I was always hungry but my clothes were too big it was super weird hmm is there a way to help your body calm down and although i don't like needles i have learned to take them every day because it helps keep my blood sugar under control the doctor gives me insulin to inject in my tummy and when all the spaces are used mom puts it in the puts on my butt at first i thought i did something wrong i thought this was my fault after a while i learned that my diabetes wasn't caused by anything i did it's not caused by eating sugar or fat it's nothing like that you see it's because my pancreas isn't working the way it should and so my body needs a little help every time I check my blood sugar I put a small drop of blood on a plastic strip that goes into a special machine that tells us how high o low is my blood sugar and when do we exercise and then we figure out how much medicine i need and if i need i need more food or more insulin my insulin keeps my blood sugar under control so i can eat, drink and play sometimes my blood sugar drops too low and i start to feel funny my head gets all mixed up i get shaky and sometimes a little grumpy after a little sugar i usually come good jelly beans jelly beans are my favorite short trees yes, my life is different than my classmates, although for me it's normal, now I have more doctor and hospital visits than my friends and admittedly they can be scary enough. the doctors and nurses help me when i'm not feeling well i test my blood i watch what i eat i take my meds and i can run faster as fast as my friends sometimes even faster my name is tina thomas i'm type 1 child with diabetes, well done Tina and that's the end of it how special special Tina you're doing well have a lovely day and friends Fergie and foreign friends.
