Samsung Galaxy Buds+ (Black) Unboxing & First Impressions!

Samsung Galaxy Buds+ (Black) Unboxing & First Impressions!
hey guys how's it going in this video we're gonna be doing an

unboxing

and I'm gonna give my

first

impressions

on the

Samsung

Galaxy

buds

plus these are on sale at the time of this video today being February 14th you can pick them up from

Samsung

's website or Amazon for $150 and I'll have a link in the description now these are the successor to the original

Galaxy

buds

that came out last year one of the biggest improvements is that we're getting 11 hours of play time which is almost twice as much battery as the original

Galaxy

buds

on a single charge and maybe even more important than that we might have improved call quality as well with some additional mics and we're also going to get audio pass through on the

galaxy

buds

Plus which is something we've had on the air pods Pro and this is one of my favorite features of a truly wireless earbud so I'm excited that it is coming to the

galaxy

buds

plus but without further ado let's check out what we get in the box have our

buds

here have a little box of accessories we have a USB type a 2 type C charging cable and we have what looks to be our wing tips and ear tips but now let's check out the

galaxy

buds

plus so a very glossy finish this year very shiny I can already see it's gonna be picking up fingerprints and such that

Samsung

branding is a bit more prominent now on the case and I guess they had to change something to differentiate these but I did prefer the original matte finish...

on the original

Galaxy

buds

but in terms of form factor it looks like we have a very similar sized case but let's go ahead and check out the

buds

so similar to the casing the

buds

themselves do you have a little bit of extra shine you can actually almost see my reflection in the

buds

it is also significantly easier to open up this case opposed to last year's

Galaxy

buds

so you certainly didn't have to pry them open by any means but there just was a little bit more resistance from that magnet when opening these up but these seem to open up a lot easier but then there is this kind of click at the end of opening the case so you kind of had the case like this and then an extra click but the lid is also a lot less flimsy and more sturdy so you can just open it up and you're good to go so on the inside we have a red light and that indicates that the

galaxy

buds

are not fully charged and then the battery indicator for the case itself is on the outside it's yellow here which I believe means we have between 30 and 60% on the case itself all right so let's go ahead and pair up the

galaxy

Bloods Plus so once you open up the case you'll get a notification on your phone saying a new device has been detected

galaxy

buds

plus go ahead and connect and you'll be taken to the

galaxy

wearable app and you don't need a

Samsung

device to get the most out of the

galaxy

buds

plus you can use any Android device and just download the

galaxy

wearable app and...

you'll have all the same features of any other

Samsung

device and the experience is exactly the same so we got a message Congrats on your new

Galaxy

buds

plus so as I mentioned before a great new feature of the

galaxy

buds

plus is the pass through hearing so they have additional mics that are going to bring an additional outside noise so you can keep your ear

buds

in keep listening to music but also be aware of your surroundings but here we are we are all connected ready to go it looks like we already have an update available we'll go ahead and install that alright so

first

thing I want to go over are some changes to the

galaxy

wearable app so the

first

thing you'll notice on the

galaxy

Budds plus is that we now have our case battery shown on the app before with the

galaxy

buds

you were never able to see your true battery percentage of your case itself it only showed the battery percentage of your ear

buds

and yes we did have the indicators still on the outside with the red yellow or green showing different levels of battery but we never had a true percentage of what our case was at so we now have a true percentage shown here so right now we have 12 percent when you have the

galaxy

buds

plus out of the case it won't show that battery of the case but once you put them back in then you'll get that battery notification now the next new thing you'll see down the list here is the ambient sound mode so the

galaxy

buds

did have ambient sound but it honestly...
samsung galaxy buds black unboxing first impressions
was not that good it was pretty muffled down it didn't really do a good job of bringing in outside noise you can select ambient sound and you can choose your level of ambient sound and also something we'll touch on in a little bit here down in the labs tab you can actually increase that ambient sound even more but we'll get to that in a minute next we have our equalizer settings and just looking at this here they look to be the same with the exception of there is now a normal mode you can switch to and there is no normal mode on the

galaxy

buds

but look like you can just turn off the equalizer and I'm assuming that the normal mode and the equalizer turned off that's the same thing next with our touchpad configurations not much has changed here either a single tap to play or pause tracks a double tap to play your next track a triple tap to go to your previous track and then for the touch and hold options there are a couple different variations on the

galaxy

buds

we had the quick ambient sound mode where you could put a finger on the earbud and just temporarily let sound in and then once you took your finger off it went back to the ambient sound being turned off and on the

galaxy

buds

plus we do not have that quick ambient sound mode anymore but we still have the ambient sound toggle here which is great so you don't have to go into the app every time to turn on and off your ambient sound and there's also a new Spotify toggle so if you have your...
ear

buds

in and you have the Spotify setting turned on you can hold down on the earbud you hear a little chime and then it immediately starts to play Spotify for you now another new exciting addition which does not exist on the older

Galaxy

buds

is this labs tab so these are some experimental features so some new features that we can try on the

Galaxy

buds

plus so for changing volume there is now an option to double tap the earbud edge because if you know from the

Galaxy

buds

the only option to change that volume was by holding down the left and right touch pad you'll see at the top of my phone here that you are able to increase and decrease the volume and this is useful because it frees up your touch and hold toggle which you can then use for ambient sound Spotify or voice commands now the next feature here is extra high ambient volume so if you go back to the original settings you'll see that there are three options for the ambient sound you have low medium and high but if you go to the labs and turn on extra high ambient volume and go back you'll see that there is a low medium high and extra high now quickly addressing that ambient sound it brings in a ton of noise and I am so happy to see that but at the same time it does have its downsides as well because it just brings in a lot of unnecessary noise that you may not want especially wind so if you have the ambient sound turned on and you're walking somewhere or running somewhere or if it's windy outside...
that wind noise will be very prominent but back to the labs additional feature with the extra high mode turned on it almost feels like you're using a hearing aid it brings in so much additional noise so I'm definitely going to be testing this more and hopefully giving you guys a better analysis of that ambient sound mode in my full review and the last additional feature here is the gaming mode which will minimize audio delay for vivid synchronized gaming sound so if you've used truly wireless ear

buds

in the past and tried to play games with them then you know that the latency is not very good at all and that's just simply because of the nature of games there's very sudden noises and the latency of the wireless ear

buds

cannot keep up with it so I'm gonna play a game with the

galaxy

buds

and then play that same game with the

galaxy

buds

plus and see if I notice any distinguishable difference in that latency alright so I know I'm not actually playing a game right now but I actually found a way to test out this gaming mode and it actually is significantly better and I'm super excited about this so there's just a little chime that happens every time you toggle through the menu here and when I toggle through this menu at the same exact time the chime has already played in full on the

Galaxy

buds

plus and it hasn't even started to play yet on the

galaxy

buds

it literally feels like the latency is twice as good and I'm super excited to test...
this further on more games because it seems like it is actually a significant improvement in your latency alright so with all the features aside how do the ear

buds

actually sound side-by-side do we have an improvement in the

galaxy

buds

Plus alright so I listened to a few songs pretty extensively the level of volume seems to be the same but in this initial test I think the

Galaxy

buds

have just a bit better sound quality and what I mean by that exactly is that especially on a bass heavy track that I just listened to you now the bass was a lot cleaner at that max volume and on the

Galaxy

buds

it was a bit more muffled sounding but all things considered you have to have these right side by side and really be paying attention to it to even notice a distinguishable difference and since I know someone will probably ask the air pods Pro and the same test did not even match the

Galaxy

buds

or the

Galaxy

buds

plus the

Galaxy

buds

hold the spot for superior audio quality and volume and as far as how they look in the ear I'll show you some footage now I feel like it's pretty obvious at this point that these companies are making and designing their ear

buds

to show off a little bit to make it known that they're there and distinguish them from different ear

buds

on the market to catch people's eye on the original

Galaxy

buds

it was just a

black

finish that was very low-key and wouldn't bring a lot of attention to it but now with the

galaxy

buds

plus there is a bit of...
flash factor to them and it'll definitely catch eyes also the fit and feel is very comfortable on these ear

buds

similar to that of the originals as well similar ear tips and wingtips set up here and even though I'm not too loud about the glossy shiny case it does open and close a lot easier it's just a little bit more resistant when opening up the original pair that kind of clicks here and it's just kind of flappy overall but on the

galaxy

buds

plus it's just a flush finish here the hinge seems a little bit more sturdy which that might give you a little more peace of mind but overall

first

impressions

here of the

galaxy

buds

plus I'm very impressed with everything that is offered here for the $150 price tag I think it is definitely a worthy investment and I think you're getting a lot more functionality and features here over the original

Galaxy

buds

for that slightly higher price tag and at this point in time it's definitely safe to say that this is the better value at $100 less than the air pods Pro I am really happy to see the improved ambient sound on the

Galaxy

buds

plus because I never even used the feature on the

Galaxy

buds

because it was that bad and I'm very excited about all these little additions here like the double tap to increase and decrease your volume freeing up other touch controls for other customizations and I'm super excited to test this gaming mode further because in my initial testing here the latency seems to...
have been cut in half with the

Galaxy

buds

plus and I know I didn't talk about microphone quality in this initial

first

impressions

but I can already get an idea of how good that call quality is gonna be just hearing this ambient sound and how much sound it's bringing in from the outside world I feel like the microphones are significantly improved on these

Galaxy

buds

plus and I'm definitely excited to test those out further for you guys but what are your thoughts on the

Galaxy

buds

plus let me know in the comments below and if you enjoyed this video then be sure to give it a thumbs up and please consider subscribing to the Shane Simons youtube channel today and hitting that Bell icon for notifications see you guys around for the next video thanks so much for watching take care
