You're thinking about every detail, there's so many things on your mind and if everything works out you're going to have the best day of your life, but it's a lot of work and I'm so excited for all those guys that are up there right now and Tyler, I mean . It's been a crazy season so far, only three events on the world circuit this year and Brett won the first two. You think he has what it takes to win here. He is the only one in contention for that triple crown and last year he was trying to do it. take it this year everyone is trying to take it away from him so brett reader obviously wants to win this okay so for those of you who maybe haven't been as close to the action as we have been all season long let's remember a little, let's take a trip.
Take a walk down memory lane and see what the first two events were like. We start the season in the southern hemisphere. Rotorua, New Zealand. Now it's great to start the season in early March. This is usually the time when it is still a little cold and where there are many. these riders come from one of which right there alex alanko the youngster found himself on the podium with a third place thomas lemoine is always a contender in any event he enters in a crankberg he had a busy night last night with speed and style but Now he had his sights set on his last easy slope joyride event of the year, so it was a great finish for Thomas Lemoyne to get that silver medal there, but look at this guy, he started his season on the right foot, he's won on this field before and Absolutely dropped the hammers to do it again, flat backflip, tail up from the drop, first place for Brett Reader now in a season where there are only three events, each of which counts a lot if You want to keep your hopes of that triple crown alive, so stop.
Number two in Innsbruck, Austria and a new face on the circuit. If you're familiar with bmx dirt you know he won bronze in x games dirt, but check this out, he's Simon Godziak's younger brother and he managed a third place finish in Innsbruck. david godziak, but this guy is the first time we've really seen him in top form emilio hansen emil has had a lot of time to think about the tricks he wants to do during his recovery now that we're seeing healthier food that brings new tricks to the game , so if brett reader wanted to go one and two, he'd have to better Crank Works' 2017 Fmba Slopestyle World Champion Emilio Hansen on his return and Brett Sawyer, and above, you won a ridiculous race showing some skin at the finish line. corral, if you remember now, nikolai wrote gakkin starting his season with a big accident in new zealand, another big accident in innsbruck and always a showman, he jumped again after that accident and crashed again, so nikolai ragakin looks clean things up here at

whistler

and brett reader looking to repeat what nikolai did last year and win the triple crown okay check this out this is what red bull joyride is all about we have the craziest mountain biking fans lo We called the super bowl of slope style for quite some time.
Why now have we all competed in this event before? What is it about this event that simply increases the adrenaline levels? You know it has to be the route, the route and the crowd. These are the gnarliest jumps I've ever done in a row. I know you train at home with your setup, but no one has this in their backyard, no one has this level of intensity with a crowd this big, so it all comes down to this one day every year, which is why Quaker festivals are full of energy and fun, yes, it may be. the peak of that energy, but a rider who is racing red bull droid here today has already had a very long week.
I'm talking about thomas lemoyne now thomas deloint always looking for crank king points, he found himself in the speed and style finals he faced mitchell pilato now mitchell pilato was the number one qualifier for this event, he wanted those points to secure the title as king of crank works, which he did at the end of this event, thomas lemoyne had to settle for a silver, but I think the biggest event of his year is coming up here today and he was doing casserole 360 with double tail, you know, that affects the body, so we're looking for you to take a look here at Red Bull Joyride, but Emilio Hansen this story.
We can't say enough that the 2017 world champion had to take the entire 2018 season off, except for last year's Red Bull Joyride where he didn't return 100 percent but still had a great finish with a fourth place, but Nikolai Ragakin with such Last year was a perfect season. We had talked about it so many times thinking that it was practically impossible to win three slopestyle competitions in the same season. He did it, it was just a back and forth between Nikolai and Brett last year. Nick Light emerged victorious. win that triple crown it's time, ladies and gentlemen, for Red Bull Joyride and of course, as always, we must extend a big thank you on behalf of Crank Works Whistler to the nations of Squamish and Lil Watt for welcoming us to their beautiful territory traditional to do this. dance we call slopestyle mountain biking and end each season the way this sport began all those years ago.
Okay, let's take a look at who we have on our departure list here today to get started. This guy's been off tour for a while. The injury keeps Max Fredrickson making his return. Will it be a triumphant return? Well in a few minutes we will be about to find out how his first race goes down the order and falling eighth will be emilio hansen and then a guy who has been having a very good season there Torquato Testa with some very consistent fourth place results to start the season a sixth place in the second event and then we will finish with Thomas Lemoine and the man who could win the triple crown, Brett Reader, well, how is this all going?
What works, check it out, we call it The Crank Works, F B Slope Style World Championship, this is the biggest competition of the year. Each runner gets two races. The best one counts. We have four judges who determine who wins the competition. 25,000 to the winner, if it's Brett Reader. If you win all three you'll get an extra 25,000 so yeah it's true there's a lot at stake here and that's why a lot of you are tuned into Red Bull TV and this course is absolutely packed with crazy fans so hey . Without further ado, let's do this with the first rider at the starting gate in Sweden, we are finally back from injury, let's keep Max Fredrickson, this is a very important competition for Max, here he almost falls before her trying to keep his points, You need a solid result here to be able to stay on this course opting for the downhill feature here to start things off.
Triple truck driver is already starting with a big move right there so truck driver Max Fredrickson doesn't get any screeching handlers into all the combos that now wrap around that big long berm. He has options. here goes for the straight jump with bar backflip it has been a no hands trick, getting all those bar twist and no hands combos, now the big drop we see in the middle of the course this year opting for the straight 360 carrying all the speed around that berm. in this big step up double tailwind nice and smooth they are circling the toilet bowl now we have the kokanee whale tail to finish things off with a double tail whip in a big move in double trucker oh wow max frederickson holding on wow, I don't know if you get bonus points for that, but it sure is an exciting way to end your Red Bull ride.
The first runner in the event always sets the tone for the rest of the competition, which is a long race and I'm thinking all the time. Alright pax, stick together, start this off on the right foot, this kid trains harder than anyone, he goes to the gym six times a week, so that's what it takes to be able to hold on when you land on your side and your tire blows out. In the final feature, okay, so Max was able to pull off a lot of combos and went for the straight 360 off the drop, but everything else pretty much had hidden bar spins, no hands, and excellently thrown tail whips to start the show. that he has had.
He's had some pretty bad luck lately with the Crank Works events, so as you land on that last feature and move on you know that he's had some PTSD from his past accidents on the last few jumps in the Crank Works events. Well, what will the score be for Max Frederickson? Wow, a 78 to start is a good score so close to our first driver's 80, but while Max fixes that tire, let's take a look at who's ready to take second here. Lucas Hoopert, the youngest Swiss driver in the field. At 19, Lucas also works and goes to college full time, somehow sneaks in training and moving up the points structure and now finds himself on the doorstep of Red Bull Joyride, the most prestigious slopestyle competition. of the whole year.
We have a couple of options up there, we see him taking the flat drop with the truck driver, a great move for Lucas starting with a big front turn into the canyon, able to take out that slight excess rotation that shouldn't affect his score. first rider to take that hip hop option with a double tail whip, I like to see that, always good to see people switch it up, goes huge with a 360 x up from that flat drop, big, oh no , going for a big 720 cork there just overcooking it, we saw him take the pedals off that berm, might have been too much speed, so it was good to see Lucasget up off those jumps that are so big and get away from a 720 crash on that exactly mate jump when you talk about those jumps being big.
I feel like the main factor in these jumps that makes them, you know, categorized as big, is more the types of air, not necessarily the distance, are steeper than what these guys train for. It looks like they are going. Straight to the moon, these jumps are so steep, as you'll see right now, as you enter this takeoff, they hit you straight in the air and that gives you time to unlock great tricks to get you back on course with a backflip in this one. lavatory. characteristic, so sometimes it can be difficult to adapt that trick you've been training for at home on jumps that aren't as steep and don't offer as much boost in airtime so Lucas Hooper has a chance to recalibrate, figure out how hard to pull for that 720 cork on that jump on your second run.
Oh, in years past we have seen on a couple of different occasions several riders come in to start our competition and not finish their race, so that Max Frederickson can hold on. As our first driver to arrive, it's great because at least we have one in the can right now. Lucas Cooper can't.get a top to bottom look right now here we are taking a look at our esteemed panel of judges we have chopper pierre we have hank we have paul rack and jeff golovich now these are the same guys that judge all the events on this world tour so they We've got this down to a science, but the next runner in the door is getting ready to go down, Paul Couder.
He has had a great season so far this year, especially in Innsbruck, the last event we had on this world tour, fourth place, what I won is entitled to on this world tour, it is very difficult and prestigious to be part of this club. Paul Kuder comes on the scene relatively new now with this guy. I want you to pay attention in which direction he is doing his tricks, which was an opposite 360. He spun that one to the right, oh, tail whip back into the barrel, right there, big move for Paul, so he goes for the straight jump option with maximum airtime, a double slash backspin and now They call this section the flight deck.
Long time sailing to this drop, which is just huge, nice smooth flat backflip for Paul right there, so I think we'll see some regular spins or a double backflip. Oh, halfway through, Paul has some huge tricks that show off a lot. of promise in this race now racers refer to this as a spine jump so long in the air I think it was an opposite 720 able to stay in line oh no come on everything was going great for Paul now that's the characteristic. On the tour you are least likely to expect to see someone make a mistake.
It's basically a configuration feature. It's not even one of the features you'll see riders cheat on. It is a small jump towards a 270 degree berm that we call that. the toilet bowl section is mainly to redirect your speed and alignment for that final whale tail feature, probably the least important jump on the course in terms of scoring, you know this slows you down and it will help you count for the overall impression. but seeing Paul land there, I don't think he expected that crash, or he just landed a little bit out of line, so that big 720.
I want to rewind the footage and try to see if we can figure out what was going on. he was just thinking about the kokanee whale tail coming up here, we do a double bar backflip, we spin into that big land to land triple threat feature and we go into this ride track, flight deck, here, a drop flip flat that goes pretty deep and that led right into this double backflip. where it was also deep, so we're going to try to figure out if this was a chain reaction that was causing him to go off his game a little bit, maybe the speeds were affected by some of these excesses.
We are approaching the section. where did he go wrong here pig 720 i think that was his opposite direction he landed long and then look he just didn't jump enough to get across now do you think it was a speed thing matt or do you think he just needed to jump a little stronger? Well, the riders have been saying they haven't had as much practice as they'd hoped this week and maybe that's the first time he's landed like that on that jump and moved towards the toilet bowl. You have to be a few centimeters away and these jumps can knock you down, so Emilio Hansen's reaction now is that those best runners fall last in that situation because you had a great season, but it has to be interesting to see the runners crash. in front of you waiting your turn on this course, but right now the next rider with a turn on this course diego cavazasi from italy diego has some great moves we thought nikolai organ was the only person capable of doing a tornado last year, then diego he pulled it out of nowhere so it has all the big moves all the tech moves the usual ones oppose everything necessary to get on the podium here red bull joyride 360x from the flat drop that's an option now let's look at that's out of the canyon a front flip, that trick blows my mind, that's a lot of airtime with a big cannon like that, where did he come in here for the triple threat, straight up the middle, backflip, downwind tailwind, damn, this race is on fire, Let's go to the flight deck? this is a huge drop, it has a flat drop back jump, a lot of variation in this race turning in all directions one two, it's a double tail whip, come on diego, keep it together, getting a lot of variety in this race, it has the turns, it's got the flips and the tail whips, so what's it going to be in this big jump right here, front spin, bar spin, Diego Cavazosi's signature move, right there, loving the front spin combos, sailing around the toilet bowl and now reaching the driver of the kokanee whale tail truck in what it is He will choose a barbell back spin, a perfect execution to the end and a full pull for Diego Cabrasi in race number one .
Look how excited he is to race, really all those turns, so many technical maneuvers, he's so excited about that race and he deserves it. I know and you know why it's so cool to see Diego stomping on his first of two attempts here at Red Bull Dragon. It's because he started this season with a lot of problems and finished outside the top 12 in the first event, finishing 11th in Innsbruck, but now, for him to trample this race and all these technical maneuvers like this barbell backspin, spin up to the story, watch where your feet go straight to the pedals very early, watch how you grasp and regain control of that bike, make the plan for the next feature is a precisely executed race, a mental game like this, especially when you get to your third fourth fifth season all these riders go through these growing pains and it's the toughest ones that can come back and get a good result that race.
It was amazing, Diego, another rider who we've seen dealing with a lot of injuries in the past, seems to be super healthy here and tapping into his full potential, which is always great to see what the score will be. He needs a 78 better than a 78. to take max frederickson out of the lead now the judge has taken his time on this we have seen four cyclists fall only two cyclists arrive from top to bottom conversation by diego within 86 rewarded for precision and the great trick options out there, well diego man to beat right now we are approaching 90 and four runners on score in the mid 80's we have a lot of big dogs coming things are starting to take shape this guy has become in one of the most exciting people to see fall on a slope style circuit now also through different sports third place in bmx dirt at the x games and then in his first appearance in slope style

crankworx

last stop innsbruck austria the front track 1080 without Hander the tornado without hander the double tap on the cannon, now his older brother is a fixture on this crank works world tour, but his younger brother, Sean, also has what it takes, not only is he the best at this game in two different sports, he also runs an equipment rental business on his family's property, where they also have their training facilities, so this summer there are already two big third places in two different sports for this man and he is looking to surpass that third place.
He has a bag of tricks worth doing, so I'm pretty sure David Gotzier has all the tricks. the book in his bag of tricks, so I'm really curious to see what he pulls out here. He's been working on his flat drop tricks, which was one of the failures of him not taking the win in Innsbruck, so I'm sure he went home focused. In all of that, he's got the jumps figured out, that's for sure, pay close attention to this, he's going for the downward spin on the back handspring bar, he's already turned into an absolute storm, the path he'll take is that the first runner on the right side take the starting box. with the double tail around this berm, this is the first absolutely huge jump on the course and what you have is straight down the middle with a huge turn, it doesn't make sense how you can have a rotation like that on a block that makes looks like a straight line. big tail whip on that drop we see halfway now that feature used to be the Ender pot bars with such a slow rotation but able to pull that wow that flare coming out of that shark pin that is the bmx and david right there, david looks so relaxed working on this ride with the triple trucker approaching the toilet squeaking on a little slide trying to get the bonus points and how the whale tail, what will it be for david godzick, front turn, right? hander in back flip dog wow how about not only being precise but also maintaining your composure being patient one gigantic move after another must feel triumphant right now you could see in Thomas Lemoine's reaction he just raised the bar here in Whistler to a level that We may have never seen that this will be an incredible matchup.
The top spot is currently held by Diego Cavarzassi with a score of 86. Now when that score came in we said it's getting close to 90. This streak absolutely has what it takes to take the top spot, the big question right now It's how much room the judges will be able to leave for the rest of our packed field starting here, looking so calm and collected for their first appearance at Red Bull Joyride, here now. I saw him in Innsbruck going straight to the podium and you know that he wants to do the same here in the most important competition of the year.
He has seen his brother ride it many times and now is his chance. He now he turned a little to the side. I was thinking, don't throw it after everything you've done, backflip, handleless fold, a little to the side, keep your eyes straight, torso, muscles straight, through the big question, now what will the score, what's the score going to be, I have a feeling We'll take another look at that big 91.75 race You've got a new leader His name is David Godziak Cam This is crazy We're only a few runners in the first heat and we're up to 90 Yeah , that one's going to be tough to beat but if anyone's going to make it it's going to be the few runners we have next and look who's going to be the next runner on the course if we weren't excited enough guys we're getting into it. things here we have nikolaj rogatkin at the starting gate, a very difficult season so far for nikolai rogatkin roadrua started the season in ninth place in innsbruck in 14th place, so it's going downhill, but to start his comeback last night with the best trick decided to practice a little for today's race. slope style competition take a look now he didn't have to do this competition this is the best tricks competition a lot of people try it most slope riders just relax resting for the big day today nikolai may have needed a big boost trustworthy, so he decided to go there and just throw a casual tornado to win and now he must feel pretty good, so he's the ultimate showman;
You don't normally see riders playing on a jump which is him. He's not in slopestyle, of course, just for practice, but he'll do it for the fans. We have the most fans here all year round cheering his name. Nikolai always feeds off the energy of the crowd looking to make money from the steps. That's a new move for him, you get it for the first time in practice, hold it together, come on, he's lost some speed, come on Nikolai, he's going straight down the middle, one, two, three, that's a tornado, like this who is stepping things up a bit more than David.
Godzilla right now 360 x top down so I'd say if he's able to finish this race like he expects he could overtake David Godzilla if these races are very similar, double tail lift right there, great move, waiting to see if Maintains your speed in this triple tail whip with step up simplymakes it all happen now that you have a little time to recover and think about these big moves here to finish things, come on nikolai, a jump back on what you have for the step down. the perseverance, the showmanship, this is incredible, he was nervous the whole race, I can't believe he made it to all those shows, there really were some moments during that race where you think he's not going to get his way and he just kept going kept the tree going, got to the finish line and a 720 cork on a step down, I mean 12 months ago that was a pretty new trick right? and just throws him straight into running, oh my god, you just can't.
In the script for this kind of thing, David Godzier shows up with a run where his biggest trick was a trick that Nikolai brought to this scene and then Nikolai responds immediately, starting with cash, casually stepping down the step to start with cork seven to finish those. There are two cool moves right there and that one right there, how do you make all that squeak? There's not a lot of air time in that feature. This is the same jump that David Godzier made in the tornado. This is basically a front jump with two more twists, so there it is. a front runway 1080. but let's start saying how many times he almost launched this run here this was the moment here he marks this landing with his back he lifts it up that's big right there he probably didn't even remember that somehow he did I mean, even up, he's resting on a berm and selling in the section, my goodness, and then finishing so perfectly with it, I mean, if you think about the way he finished this race, he made a pot from the first step down and a cork seven from the last step down, is a very complementary way to start a race, what will the score be?
It should be 91.75. He lands at 88.5, so the judges want a polished run. Nikolai Rogakin knows exactly what he needs to do. I would say the same tricks, but just clean it exactly now. He may have had a couple of bigger moves compared to David Godziak, but David was so smooth in everything he did, so if Nikolaj is able to clean that up, I think he can overcome it. david godzilla but we have to wait for race number two but before that we have more racers ready to drop and right now we have jacob vencil oh yeah you know you got excited because he hugged Black Savage I'm really excited right now.
Yeah, We have the habit of talking about music. He loves heavy music and right now he is waving the colors of the band that started it all on the field where it all began for this sport. He was rocking out with Iron Maiden at the beginning of the season. He used to play with Slayer. In season, I'd say it's very appropriate to go to Black Sabbath when you're doing it in the Boneyard Slope style field doing it for Tony Geezer and Ozzy. Can he put together a race that will impress and make it for the judges? competitor on the field right here, proving that he has what it takes to stay on the tour, he managed to bounce back last season.
I wouldn't just say he's the oldest, I'd say he'll use that to his advantage because he's got some of the most experience here, he's been on this world tour for a long time and now he knows exactly what it takes. He's been close many times starting with the 360 x up and doing a backflip off the canyon trunk, that's a good move. there's no transition to start that rotation and he's choosing the hip on the triple threat right here, looking for a double tail whip over the top. Now this is the flight deck getting ready. I don't know how these guys judge their speed there, but look at 360. no hander on a flat drop that trick blows me away you're not going to see many of those today super technical there is a casserole that seems to be the casual jump right there talk no hander off the shark fin so far he hasn't missed a trick in this race, that's the 720 where Paul Calder seemed to lose all his speed and went into the toilet bowl and once he put Tyler into this whale curve , so far everything is clean, he has a trucker in the coconut whale tail a backflip x out for x up so great combo single move right there for the pencil yaka that was his signature move, speed and style when he could be the overall world speed and style champion doing that move right there that the judges liked for speed and style, so we'll see if they like a step down in slope style.
I would say that the judges only had one category to distinguish Nikolai's race and that was cleanliness. I would say Jacob Benson's main strength. this race was his cleanup so jakob actually had a crash during yesterday's practice session and sprained his ankle and i was thinking maybe he would even be out of the race today so seeing him stomp that race up and down was extremely clean. It's amazing, it's such a long week for all these competitors here and they're dealing with injuries, they're dealing with the wind and this crowd just has the ability to lift these riders out of whatever slump they've been dealing with all week and yaakov bensel just rose above the adversity and stomped that race too later in the course, we saw him do that double tail hip whip and not many riders have been hitting those hips, you have options this year and it's good to see a yaka using those options, what do you think?
Do you think you'll score higher by choosing one of those hip options in the triple threat? I think if your tricks deserve that high of a score, you'll only get more points doing on the hip because it's a more technical way to ride, so we're waiting for the score to come in for Jakob Ventzal right now to see if they reward cleaning and using it. of that hip feature in the triple threat While they deliberate, Jakob waits trying to figure out what his plan will have to be for the second race. There is a lot for these judges to gauge the height of softness.
Even you know that there are so many different variables in a slope style race. Let's enjoy looking at the words Black Sabbath during Red Bull Dry Ride. Two of my favorites. things are going well, score for jakob vensel, where will he be with a 74.5 good enough for 5th place right now? If he is able to maintain a score somewhere in that neighborhood, he will accumulate more valuable points to stay. tour, but we're going to take this opportunity right now to catch up with the man currently in second place, nikolai ragacan nikolai, can you hear me? Yes, I can hear you.
Well, I know that sometimes, in those high-pressure situations, everything happened so quickly when you were watching the

replay

of the race. Were there any elements you forgot because everything was happening so quickly? Oh man, that race felt loud from the start. The 360 double tail whip got a little strange. He veered towards the corner. tornado and uh everything went really crazy when I tried to do a casual variation to jump after the big flat drop and I couldn't do it and I lost a lot of speed on the shark fin and I thought it was all due to the man's nose turning. down, but you know, I'm trying to hold it together as strong as I could here at joyride and uh, yeah, I made it, but it was a really loud race, a lot of moments in there where I thought it was over, but uh, yeah , very excited to get it down and I'll do my best to clean it up in the next race.
Well, we can always count on you to keep going no matter the little things that happen. We know you have the tricks if you clean that up. I have a feeling he'll escalate you. to the top so go get it buddy thank you thank you I'm doing my best yeah Nikolai man. I can no longer imagine a trip without Nikolai. You know, this is his sixth trip and he's been such a big part of the show. In the last six years, Emile Johansson saw him return to the podium at the last event after trying so hard to fight the disease and return to the tour.
This guy could seriously change things today, so take a look at this, half a point. They separated Brett Reader and Emilio Hansen for the top and the silver spot on that podium just a couple of months ago and right now this is a chance to not only beat Brett Reader but also win the Red Bull Joyride, which they love the most. matters to all these competitors. Here O'Neil has been referred to as the greatest future of all time, showing so much potential every time he gets on a bike. It's good to see him healthy here starting with the 360 tail up, now that he was a trucker opposite the inside. table, this guy can do any trick in any direction, choosing the hip right here, yeah, it's cool to see him with a big 720 stand, much harder to do that on a hip than a straight jump once he got here, a turn of 360 without turning down, I just appreciate it. how smoothly Emile drives doing all these technical tricks, but landing so perfectly from a double trucker to a descending tail whip in a 450 step through that double truck to a descending whip is my favorite Emilio Hansen trick he has in your bag.
There are so many like that double twist. whip right there bart been in emil doing another great run right here red bull joy rod entering the kokanee whale tail if he keeps this tower 360 whip in let's go and opposite wow let's go for the opposite tail 360 up and a normal 360 The tail whip in shows so many things about it that are hard to explain why they are so difficult: first, the trick with the whale tail spinning in an unnatural direction while turning the bike in that unnatural direction and then reversing it in the next thing and clicking on a board there just to add ski points, so it's really the subtleties and intricacies of this race that aren't apparent to the naked eye when you first look at it.
Can't wait to play this in slow motion, little things like picking the hip and triple threat for that quark seven things like making this double bar spin 360 to put the whip down and grab the pedals so early, check this out, that one trick is just ridiculous, so many things happen, but look how perfect he lands it every time, like you see a lot of cyclists play truckers out of that drop, but to do that 360 degree spin, they turn towards a trucker and every time the bike spins around the feet just get magnetically attracted right there, it makes the bike look like a feather, no.
He, yes, it's very light work, so easy for a meal in this field, but here we go, the opposite three would be in the regular three-to-unwrap whip, now that's the cleanliness the judges were hoping to see from Nikolai Ragan, I just saw it from Emil, but will it be enough to surpass the 91.75 that Polish David Godziak Emilio Hansen currently has? This guy is going to be around for a long time, setting the precedent for the future of this sport, but will red win? Bull Joyride this year is the first of two races in the books, the judges are just trying to figure out what to do with it.
Look at those top three scores already being 91, 88 and 86. We've had so far so many riders to stand still to shake. Things are good too, you know, these guys have two completely different approaches to this tour, but they can respect the way the other tours, here we go, the score comes by Emilio Hansen, where will it land? 95 95.75, come on, you have a new leader, name him. Is it Emilio Hansen? We call it the future of sports. Will this be the year he wins the biggest event? Now he is the man to beat. What a story for the young Swede.
It's good to see him back in these competitions sitting on top. After everything that has happened, it will not be easy to overcome and how to follow it. Lucas Knopf, a great rider on the circuit at the moment, consistency is his strong suit, let's take a look at the bike he rides here today at Red Bull Joyride. he rides a hard tail like many of these riders. You just saw Emil lose that top score on a double suspension. All of these riders generally choose a hardtail or a very short travel sloper style. Specific fight. Lucas goes with single speed.
He goes with just one break. He you see the left side of his bar where a front brake would normally be. He is missing, of course, a very stiff suspension in the front to maintain speed when going down these landings. Can he carry this steed for a successful journey? this ride tour lucas has become a staple on this world tour put in his job he is now in the middle of the pack on the start list going with the truck driver from the first flat drop a big front turn similar to what we saw from diego diego able to get a good score with that move there, Lucas is choosing the hip in the triple threat feature right here, double tail, he's going a little too slow, approaching almost a full bicycle length, there he just seems surprised, shouldn't he have? state, I think it's windy out there, what do you think was a game there to make it come up so sure?
I think it's just a big miscalculation when you're going to hit one of the functionsslam there in the triple threat that you are You're going to have to ride a curvy line and, uh, the trail flow needed to judge speed is a little different for those hips than if you were to just gently cruise off that berm and line up for, yes, the largest option, but the most direct. option, so I'm looking to get rewarded because, you know, roll the dice a little bit and hit that hip, but unfortunately a miscalculation sent him to the end of the landing.
It's great to see him get up quickly talking to some of the riders. It's been evident this year that these features are actually quite widespread and I think that means there's actually more time to misjudge speed, especially this drop here, there's such a long track it's like walking on the board in the pirate ship, you're just wondering if I'm going too fast, right? going too slow, so when you see these racers land perfectly on top of that landing, you know they're just experts at measuring speed, so Lucas Knopf is going to do one for the fans here, he's going to go to that shuttle truck so he can Make your way to the top of the course for your second attempt, where you can hopefully achieve a joint race and score to get those valuable points and stay on the circuit.
It's great to see that he wasn't hurt in that accident. There are these characteristics. It's not small, it's a long way to fall from the top of that landing to the bottom. Lucas can dust himself off and we'll see him take a number two race so tight you say it's a long way from falling off the top. from the lane to the back, we've all done it, think about how far the jump is, how far would you say the jump is on that triple threat, I guess it's 30 35 feet pushed around 30 35 feet, so it's a long gap. and with all the speed needed to clear that gap, when all your momentum stops and you fall to the bottom, you're falling 12 to 15 feet to flat, so speaking of scale, let's take a look, let's look at the scale on some of these features are eight meters, so about 24 25 feet from takeoff to landing on the top box and it's not even one of the largest features on the field, so this drop is huge, 23 feet down 6, 4 meters out I think we're going to see some pretty impressive tricks today we have time to do that so here we go brett reader riding this jump we said was around 30 so somewhere around the range of 26 to 30 and when you go down on the landing, We go even further, so a hockey stick, three rock plates and three Whistler bears, oh yeah, let's add two bowls of poutine for those of you who don't use the American or metric system, we have some tangible elements for you, here it could go.
For some poutine, this guy here every time we see him ride his bike he has something new, he gets better and better every time he hits the starting gate, I think we're going to see some tricks from Eric right now. He hasn't been seen on any of the other riders, he's got a super funky bag of tricks that he's taken to slopestyle I'd say, and if he shows them today he could be looking for one of those higher scores, which is why we see him picking some. very interesting tricks in this course he doesn't want to do the same tricks he says it's boring if you do it he wants to mix it up try new things some of those new things tricks like backflip superman secret tricks like 360. secret indianaires One of my favorite pilots because you never know What he's been working on, he always brings something new to the table and isn't afraid to adapt those creative tricks to the most difficult features.
Let's see, now he's opting for the tailwind with a step down backflip, which is a way to make your mark by landing in a slopestyle race. I think that's That's new for him too, going straight into a 360 degree downward queue up there and he's choosing the straight jump, which one will it be? Yes, separate, such a unique move, one reason why it's so exciting to see Eric Fedco in these fields, truck driver. off the big flat drop keeping things as smooth as he normally does 360 secret minion another of the signature moves towards the table in the shark fin looks like he's just having fun with it and that's what the judges find love to see the truck driver whip the tail great combo right there for eric fedco this race has been perfect so far isn't he getting some flair in the toilet bowl right there and now coming to the kokanee whale tail Looking for three sticky tails on the landing that's so soft?
Everything is so calculated that he knows that everything he is doing is in his comfort zone and now he has a solid career in the bag. This is just indicative of the new wave of slope style riders. You see Emilio Hansen at the top of the rankings right now precisely. and packing in little variations that just show off your control building element, for example things like doing a shark fin tailpin while catching and doing that board, but the extension is something unique to Eric Fedco, so let's look at some of these repetitions that the backflip obtains. his hand on the seat then extends his leg, okay, stop there, we're going in a perfect straight line right there and look, he's blind, he's still looking at the handlebars, he's not looking at the ground, that's commitment, roll the pictures, that's a trick. a trick that you can do, you can land and it's also a trick that you can do very well and we showed it right there and this is what I'm talking about, catch the tail, yes, most riders would say that's enough, but win. control and even that little board then shows the judges that you're a couple steps ahead of the tricks you're doing and then starting with a backflip up and finishing with a 360 tail, both of those down features will be a big score, no I'm sure it'll be what it takes to knock emil out of that top spot, but we're definitely looking at a possible podium race here for Eric Fedco, so the score for Eric Fedco will need an 88.5 to get it. getting to third is not good enough and 87.25 to fourth so Eric Fedco a guy who has been on the podium at Crankbrook is leaning looking to make a comeback he will need to do it in his second race well look who we have in screen at this time.
The city is being talked about for the second time in his career. He is eligible for the slopestyle triple crown, a feat only accomplished by competitor Nikolai Regatkin just a year ago. Brett Reader would need to win the contest here today. He will be the last cyclist to achieve this. Let's put aside the hype about Brett Reader's career, but now feast your eyes on this. The 23-year-old Swedish cyclist finished on the podium for the first time in Rotorua and earned a place for the entire world tour. Here I am. speaking of alex alonco alex seems like one of those riders who isn't afraid to push himself if he sets out to learn a trick he will learn it and then he will learn it in both directions alex alanko has been showing a lot of variety lately, facing 360, one foot can right there to starting with a normal 360 with three bar spins, the triple truck driver seems to be choosing the straight jump on the triple threat with so much speed, the double backflip bars have gotten huge on that jump right there.
It's the flight deck a huge 360 degree step that's a can with one foot burning you have to get on that berm to carry speed for a cork 720 so high in the air landing so softly on everything so far only putting an x right there but what's it going to be for this big step here versus the seven? Oh come on alex, it's amazing to see a 720 cork in both directions. He's getting a little antsy there, but he's still on his way. A little time to recover upon reaching the Kokanee Whale Tail. It's hard to see from our angle what he was doing on the Whale Tail right there, but as you can see, he couldn't maintain his speed to reach that final feature, he had a run. so good on the opposite 361 feet. can to start and then the normal 361 foot can on the flat mid-course drop which shows a lot of variation on the regular 720 course versus the 720 cork.
It's a shame to see him have to throw it away just before the last feature of the course , so Alex Alanko had a fourth place at the start of the season, but he was in 12th place in Innsbruck, so he wants to repeat what he did at the beginning of this season, not like his intermediate event was, but he'll have to do it in his second race right now if he wants to revisit that podium but a big race with all those tricks in the opposite park 720 the train started to derail in some cases but the standings look like this right now nikolai ragakin probably the most energetic race So far we have seen here good enough for third place, David Godziak is in second place, if he can stay there that will be his best result.
In his first event he finished in third place and Emilio Hansen, the man who is right now with 95.75 no. leaving plenty of room for our last runners, of course, at the end of this race, the starting list will be a bret reader and we are all eager to see who is at the starting gate right now, torquato testa, a writer who started his season very well with a 4th place and then a 6th place in Innsbruck Torquado Testa falling on rides in Torquado and training with diego cavers aussie has a different style than diego also has great moves although 360 bar will start right there it is a unique move of superman's backflip in the canon record.
I don't think I've ever seen that I also have a double backflip on the longest jump on the course. Wow, stepping onto the flight deck, let's see what you've got in this absolutely massive drop. flat drop backflip slowest rotation I've ever seen on the platform torquato is on another great run right here such a smooth 7 20 on that step right there pulling a shark fin bar spin this jump right here off the paddock has some big moves, what will he choose? back flip, no hands tuck, barbell twist, great technical combination right there, getting a little bit of everything in this race, coming to the final feature, the company's whale tail double truck driver in so many unique moves that they run the highlights for I Was the Backflip Superman in the canon record in the backflip, don't get a can out of the whale tail.
Don't you see that every day I ran alone had a little variety, a lot of flavor from all angles, isn't it Superman? in the canyon is that it is the first time I see that drink. I was thinking about it a couple of years ago, but there's no way, so you have some of the best backflipping supermans in the game, maybe you can explain a little about them. why it's a lot harder to do in a feature like that, I mean a canon record like that, it just has no pop, there's no transition, you have to generate the whole backflip yourself, but let's take a look at this, which It's a huge double backflip.
You can see him after the first rotation just looking longingly into the distance from where that landing is, you know what a great strategy that's why he managed to get back on the tour after falling, he's doing those big tricks and he's trying hard further. difficult features doing those combos on steps down doing the double jump on the biggest jump on the field and that's why he's third overall right now despite falling on the last tour Claude is back and now he's in the top three overall because of these great decisions and the way he is able to execute these ambitious races.
He's been very consistent all year and look at the way he lands right on top of all these landings. This backflip here neither foot can fully extend. right at the top it couldn't have been smoother and I don't know how you would rate this competition, that race was so clean, such big moves, but everyone you see on that results list also had great moves with perfect execution, so it's It is very difficult to say where they are going to put Torquato Tessa, differentiating himself by the tricks he chooses, but where will he land in the ranking right now?
An 86.5 for Toriquato Testa is good enough for fifth place right now, remember he's the 12th driver. Falling out and getting fifth place means this is pretty indicative of where he'll go at halftime here, as we have two more riders ahead, we only have two and a half points separating sixth place from third place, these riders ride at such an incredible level and right now we have Thomas Lemoyne, the hardest working driver at Crank Works. I will say that confidently doing speed, track style, and hill style sounds like a pretty busy season. Let's take a look at what this season has been like for the very versatile Thomas Lemoine Thomas Lemoine If competing in all these different disciplines isn't enough, he's also a rapper who makes music videos accompaniedof his cycling, but he competes in the rockshox ultimate pump track Challenge rotorua, the first event of the season, he took top honors and then in sprint style in Rotorua, he could have achieved another victory, but he blew a tire, had he had to deliver it and then he landed on the podium in pending style, so look at those three different events where we're always talking about him. any crank jobs, stop, how about Innsbruck, of course, I was riding pump track again trying to get those valuable points for the king of crank jobs in the overall series, fifth place Swedish style, right there, riding with the bars back, a competitor like that always does whatever it takes to win, so we're talking about three different events, but we're talking about the top five through the first two stops, so fifth place in slopestyle was the last event we had here on this Crankworx fnba slopestyle world tour and it has new tricks. working on his makeshift training compounds at home, I don't know where he finds time to rap, check him out on Instagram, he's always entertaining, just look at his pants right now, Thomas Lemoine comes running in style. by thomas lemoyne you'll see him in these early features right here, stunt truck driver who just catches those bars with such a smooth tail-up backflip into the top box, which is a harder option compared to the record of the canon from there. thomas levoyne has been very busy all week but you can't say wow 360 hidden no hand to turn the bar on that hip feature there smooth as silk a feature other people might have been struggling with speed thomas gets it perfect 360 board on the flat drop that will increase style points In this round we now get into these steep jumps versus 360 no hands wow oh that looked amazing towards the inside of the table on that 450 off the shark fin right there , double backflip, that's a new move for Thomas, come on this season, how did he do that? he can just create speed out of nowhere by landing low on that double backflip but he's still able to clear and go into the toilet bowl backflip bar spin on huge thomas lemoine what a run i mean i feel like it's the first time i've done it we've seen him do a pedal stroke in the slopestyle competition that whale tail the two tricks he chose there that will really have an effect on the judges the fact that he's always in the top five in every event he does As the season goes I'm really wondering where he's going to land on our leaderboard right now, you can see there how his racing experience just allows him to create speed between jumps, so he has a very well balanced race, regular tricks, tricks opposites, we'll digest some of these best moments, watch this on the hip, so you'll score high on a 360 check, no handler would score high on their own, but add in the barpin that it's those subtleties that a the judges love them.
Look at these perfectly extended arms in that opposite 360, there's no hand, so check that box. the judge's scorecard on technicalities and then by width and difficulty of the trick, yes you could also do a double backflip look how low he landed look how high he is there too he's over six feet making that jump look so small so high in the air and that right there regular 360 tucker handler coming out of the whale tail appreciate just the drop time there on that final corel you're on the way up into the air knowing that if everything goes to plan you can get a score amazing and we're hoping to see that here so Thomas Lemoyne his score and 82.25 is good enough for seventh place right now and after a run like that it just shows the level of competition we have here right now.
Walk me through this leaderboard as Tyler stands. emilio hanson sitting exactly where he wants to be been through a lot sitting first david godziak the new kid on the scene changing things up sitting right in front of nikolai rogatkin so what did emil do to find his name at the top of that ? list right there, well it started with a 360 tail, looks like you can even add more on the second run if need be, but take a look at this using the hip forward 720 option in the triple threat and then check out these combos everything seems so easy when he does it that it's almost not even fair that right there the 360 degree rotating bar turns down and up and that was an opposite tail down for him, so many technical things about driving this guy right here and we talk about this.
So much so that when we see his races in slow motion it's almost like he lives life in slow motion so he can pack so much, that's a great example right? there, the 360 queue catches the bike early, goes for that descent without rejecting, the judges love every detail of it, it filled all the elements they were looking for and that's why he was rewarded with a 95.75 and is looking to take that triple crown away. This man here, Brett Reader, the latest rider to crash here in our first of two races at Red Bull Joyride. He won the first two events this season.
If he wins here, he will be the second cyclist in history to win the triple crown. What we've all been waiting for is a big moment for Brett Reader. I have goosebumps here. It's so exciting to see this guy on a slope style course. You know, he's always practicing new things. What front somersault at the start lands right there? He makes that look too. very easy doing a huge back flip off the barrel, maybe I was looking a little bit harder there, but I could definitely make up for it here by going down the middle towards this yeah, in front of cork 720, turning the wrong direction on a cork 7 20. the biggest jump on the hill, he's got something big planned right here, backspin, tailwind, wow, from a flat drop with no transition, no kicker, it's a regular 720 cork going into the shark's fin, a tail whip down, tail up off the shark fin right there. looking as relaxed, calm and collected as Brett's reader usually does, choosing a windshield wiper right there, just turn around, that's it, you're fine, he made it work, that's the tail whip when you catch the tail whip and then you do one in the other direction.
It defies physics, that trick doesn't make sense, Brett, one of the few people who does that 360 with his tail up and back, twist the bar to bend it, you know what? I'm so proud of this guy right now for continuing this career that was so exciting. In a race, we had never seen a wiper in a slopestyle competition before and when he messed up the second feature by simply doing a straight turn in previous years, we saw him come out of the race and just put it all into the race. Number two, I'm really excited to see him do that race right there because this is really going to have an impact on our standings.
There are some very high risk moves. Yes, it may not be exactly what Brett was looking for, but the backflip. tailwhip on that big flight deck drop the front flip to get things started front flip from a flat drop is such a heavy, high consequence move that you want to talk about heavy, high consequence this is how the flip has been winning this season back helps the flat fall matte you touched earlier a cannon has no radius to help you in that backflip the flat fall has even less it just justifies the physics about a flat fall backflip was a revolutionary movement not too long ago and for adding a tail whip in a slopestyle race full of other hits like that cork 720 bret is a boss you said it right there now here we are going to take the regular tail out of the shark fin and hope we see the next move in this rep is not engaged too hard because it was sloppy on the landing, but this is a very heavy move for

2019

.
The rear lift opposite the normal rear lift reverses it in the opposite direction now that these bikes have some weight and stopping it and turning it in the other direction right there it doesn't feel right it's not natural it's not easy to do it if you're going to make a mistake in any feature of this course this is the one Do it because it's no big deal to miss the toilet bowl feature so The big question we have is how much the judges will take away from him for those little setbacks in this beautiful race here doing things we have never seen.
Before what the score will be for Brett Reader, I can only hope they don't cut him too much. Oh wow, 71.75 is good enough for 10th place. I guess the judges are making a statement that they want perfection. That's very interesting now. The two things that really hurt it are changing the second feature and blowing on the pedals. I'd love to hear what Brett thinks about that score and hope it motivates him to get back to the top of the field for his second race. right, sounds like we have it, brett, can you hear me? Yes, I can hear you well.
Can you hear me? Yeah, I got you, man. I'm so excited that you've continued to advance in that career. I know there are a couple of times you would have done it. I liked having gone a little softer. Are you going to clear that same race to get back to the top? Because I feel like that's the only thing the judges had to distinguish about that race. Yeah, I mean, I had a couple of mistakes. Be honest, it was a last minute decision. I didn't know what I was doing at my last practice and I completely changed it.
I just thought I had made it. I have to do the best I can and you know it. I'm excited to see the other athletes submitting it and um, yeah, actually, uh, yeah, I'm going to go up and do another one, you know what, brett? I love improvisation and I feel like right now the best plan is to have no plan. do what feels right to you and I can't wait to see what you pull out of your back pocket run number two go get it win this thank you okay I've known this guy for a long time his first season in the tour.
I was asking myself all these questions about how to build an incline style race, now I could write a book about it and think that you dropped in and did that race without even a plan and you were picking up as you went, I can't wait to see what what he has for us in race number two. I can't wait to see what all these runners have going for race number two. The last stop of the Crankbairs Fnba Slope Style World Championship, of course, this is Red Bull Joy Ride, second races coming soon. Don't go well, here we come, welcome to Back Slope style fans around the world.
If you love this sport, you will love this event. Check out the great crowd we have available here at Whistler Bike Parks. Boneyard Slope. Everyone is getting into the action. the lifts, but the story of 2019 is in our hands right now, the triple crown of pending style is up for grabs and you know, this is the place we want to be if brett reader wants to win that triple crown, he's going to have to do Huge improvement, he's back in 10th position with 71.75, but that race shows moments of brilliance, if he's able to clean it up, maybe he'll add a few things, there's no telling what the story might be, we're in the seconds now Red Bull Joyride races.
Now yes, I think one thing is for sure: there is nothing you can do to take my eyes off this screen right now. Red Bull Joyride 2019 One race left for the top 14 slopestyle competitors on the planet. They have earned their way here thanks to gold. level events on the f b world tour through their rankings the last 52 weeks in the crank works f b a pending style world championship tour and our re-rack start list for race number two looks like this we'll start with Luke Hooper. We'll see Brett Reader before us in race number one. He's in the middle of the group, but of course the man who leads it, Emilio Hansen, will be able to hang out at the top, read the room and see what someone would have to do. able to get him out of that place, but it is a difficult task.
The first cyclist who has the opportunity to face this difficult task is Switzerland. Luke Hooper. Now Lucas has worked very hard to get here. A race didn't go as expected, but. We'll see if he's able to recover and get the second run down the hill. He needs to get some points to keep up and see him on tour next year. This is a big moment for him. He has a lot of nerves. Red Bull Joyride. It's what these kids dream of and every other contest they go to makes its way here, so Lucas Hooper with his second chance right here to wow the judges.
The truck driver from the shot, good move right there for Lucas Hooper's front flip over the canyon. Things are going well so far for Lucas Hooper and racer number two, opting for the hip once again, double tail with perfect cleanliness, keeping both pedals keeping speed atthis flight deck, a big flat drop that looked like a 360x up and looks like it's pumping. All kinds of speed on this jump right here, oh yeah, if you think about race number one, that's where things fell apart for Lucas, everything from now on is an improvement for Lucas Hoover trying to get out of that 14th position with a large amount of cash.
There's a bar spin on Lucas who is having a great run so far, now entering the Kokanee Whale Tail, let's see if he can finish his first Red Bull Joyride race with a 360 degree inward downhill tail and a trucker with great execution for Lucas Hooper. there and that's exactly what you want to see in a Red Bull Joyride rookie, now the 19 year old from Switzerland in his first Joyride appearance proves that he belongs here, of course he earned his way here but that race He very well may have just won the right to stay on the tour next year.
The big question now is what the judges will do with that race. Lucas Hooper is feeling the euphoria of finishing a pleasure race. Now you think about race number one. He wasted it on that. cut 720 and we see him here in this split screen stomping it perfectly with the front tire down touching very straight there and then complementing that 720 fork with a pot, basically two 720 tricks on separate rotation axes and then he finished it off hard here with This bar 360 we call it the truck driver coming out of the kokanee whale tail, it's so smooth that Lucas will be rewarded for his execution right there, so check this out, we have Lucas' father here watching his son light up.
A very emotional experience. I feel like I saw a tear come out from behind those glasses and for good reason he is proud of his son here in the whole world and he does it with all the pressure on his shoulders. Now, what will the judges make of this race? It is currently in last place, 14th. With a score of 33.25, you know it will be an improvement, but where will it rank? How many points will he get for the 2020 season? The judges understand how much is at stake here, so they are taking their time. They are really taking their time with this.
All these points are very important. A position could mean that you are on tour or off tour, so they want to make sure you understand that here. One good thing is that the judges take a lot of time. It's time to score your races, you have plenty of camera time and your sponsors' logos are displayed. Oh, I see a little commotion in the judges' booth. The score comes in and 84. Not good enough to put Lucas Hooper in seventh place, which is huge for youngsters. rider look at his name sitting on top of thomas lemoyne max fredrickson jacob bentzel brett reader all the names he's admired for so long good point, it doesn't matter how long you've been here or what you have planned, it matters if you took the heat off it and lucas cooper made it that 7th place so far for him as we focus our attention again on the star tower of this ride course another young east france paul kuder now paul had a really promising run in race number one, he had to throw him out in the penultimate feature of the toilet bowl, but before that I had cork 720 vs cork 720, double backflips, everything you need to move up that hit list which was an opposite 360 to start with. wow, okay, two things to say about that: we're excited that accident wasn't a job, it wasn't worse, it was a rodeo move right there, but we're really bummed to see him throw it overboard, this was a great opportunity for paul kuder he finished fourth in innsbruck so he was looking to increase his trajectory curve at the top of the sport but that was his last chance here at the red bull joyride paul kuder will not finish better than last place here unfortunately He's an exciting driver to watch on the circuit so we hope to see him in Rotorua, yeah I mean walk me through the complexity of spinning that top, drop your opposite direction, he had great style, he was nose down , but I'm sure it's difficult. right when you go in the exact opposite direction everything is happening in an unknown way, I'm sure he practices that at home but we could do it in his sleep in a normal direction but he knows you have to have the opposites there. to get the highest scores these days so paul wants to leave it all right there now we have lucas knopf at the door for race number two now lucas fell super hard trying to bend his tail towards his hip in the triple threat jump the big one ground to ground feature, so Lucas can't go for those points to stay on the circuit, last chance to get those points, the German rider, here we go, let's see if you can clear this by starting with a big move right there, with a 360 bar front swivel. in the canyon and this is where things went wrong in race number one, he was just a little slow right now it looks like he's moving his feet again.
Well, he did it perfect. Great for pedaling right at the top of the landing. Now everything from here on out. it's an upgrade for truck driver lucas kenobi on that big flying platform, drop flat to the sram, come up with a clean tail back, grab a pedal without pulling a shark fin drip trick right there, but like I said, this is already an improvement. so he'll go up the hit list oh lucas knopf goes down in the 360 bars finn to taylor well at least he can go back to the hotel room tonight knowing he went down swinging that's a great move for lucas canaan while we heard some of The other riders say that it is difficult to judge the speed in these features because there is a lot of time between each feature, so Lucas can't help but take advantage of that second opportunity to move up the rankings.
He'll be down in 13th right now, but here's a look back at this 360-bar spin where Taylor catches the bike and then creates that landing realizing it's a little too low now that there isn't much room for air, the knuckles on these landings are very small and pointy and then the ideal landing area isn't many bike lengths so it's hard to judge speed for these features, especially considering how high and Steep ramps shoot the rider into the air. A little extra touch of the rear brake before that jump and that will be Lucas found it very difficult to get the right speed for these features, so we are working on the reverse starting order in race number two here, the man on top , the man to beat, we just saw him on the screen, the Swede emilio hansen, now an opportunity to encourage his compatriots alex alanko now that he is a long story of swedish success in the

crankworx

world tour alex alanko seeks to be the next runner in a long list of successful Swedes.
He started this season with a third place finish in Rotorua, New Zealand. I tried the podium now you know he's not happy with being in 12th place. No, this has been one of his best seasons to date. I love the way he starts his run right here, in front of 361 feet of cannon, a very technical move for him. Had a great run in race number one and I missed the last feature right there with the 360 degree triple barston in the canon records injecting a lot of speed into this feature right here triple bar back spin so now He himself is stepping things up and got three bar spins. that backflip where when running you only had two regular 360's on one foot again so it's a great variation to have the opposite ones there, the big pig 720 comes up a little short, can he get out of the shark fin, can he? do it, so it will continue. in this red bull, come up here with the back handspring bar, turn to one foot again, change your trick up there for run number one, put an x on the bathroom pole so you'll have the honor of going through the arch of red bull at the end. of this walk course and run number two, back handspring, can foot going up a little short, 360 bars, was able to get his feet out of that right through that arch, alex alanko having trouble on run number One, the main goal at hand was not to finish in 12th place in his first Red Bull Joy Rod.
He just had a great run. You have to know that he will improve that 55.75 and move up the rankings. He will get those points. That's exactly where he ended up in Innsbruck. I feel like he's done his job here packing. In so many bar twist variations on these features, there were a couple of instances where he did a bar twist more than we expected, the judges loved it and you mentioned that he complemented the 360 top side note with that. Facing 360 at the top, a foot can, I should say, and I almost thought he was going to throw it in there, a little bit shorter than that cork scene.
He was holding his breath, but the extension he got out of that one foot may be something the judges also looked very deeply at now, he made a couple of mistakes there, but he can't get over how great that race was. What does Sweden have? They continue to produce such ridiculous talents in slopestyle mountain biking. They are training indoors most of the time. Its winters are long. I think that's what they have to do to stay warm, yes you have to keep going, the judges take their time with this, so Alex Alanko wants to finish above 12th place right here, okay, 72.75, it's ranked 11th right now and the leaderboard looks like this, Amelia. hanson untouchable so far at the top of that list, we're looking at his current leader's email and we're going to take a look at the career that got him there now that's an opportunity where he can add even more features from the start , but the judges seem to love it when riders choose the hip option.
They love to see these four part combos if you count it in 360, two bars and a queue of four things happening at once, that's why these jumps in 2019 are so high and steep it gives these riders enough time in the air to include so many variations and that's really what makes it right there, that final feature that puts an arc on that run with complementary tricks and introduces unexpected variations, the ambidexterity of that kid right there and the precision that he's capable of. of performing his opposite tricks remembers this guy we have here. Oh man, we're not used to seeing Brett Reader fall so early in the lineup and this could really change things right now, the guy who won the first one. event of the season in new zealand won the second event of the season in austria this is the second time in his career that he has been eligible for that triple crown you know he is trying to think about his career and not the fifty thousand dollars in the line if he won, but here we go, brett reader, second race joyride 2019.
Are you going to try to clean up that race that you didn't run number one or are you going to stick with this, okay, so it was a front jump from the flat drop there, double slash? Turn the cannon so now he has everything he needs. He is on the opposite cork 720 on the floor, right there, spinning in the unnatural direction of him. Here we go, keep going. Perfect, the muscle moves backwards. The rear lift landing is so smooth. The 720 fork is everything. looks perfect right now and when Brett gets into this mindset it's hard to stop him and now he's performing this unique trick right here yeah smooth with the wiper I think you may have changed that to a double tail whip hard to tell apart of the whale. queue, what will it be 360 queue back, flip back, opposite door, so smooth, so calm and collected, everything was perfect, changing a couple of tricks right there and look at a meal you're working on, you'll be able to get a run victorious or will she have to fight against Brett's readers? race number two right there this has to be an incredible wealth of emotions for brett reader right now we spoke to him before the event he didn't like the course he didn't feel like he had a race that could change things but never don't count this one guy.
I feel like the fact that he was a little confused about what to do took the pressure off him and he just said, "Oh, you know what I'm going to touch and weave and see what I can reconstruct and that's what to reconstruct if you're the best." slopestyle rider in the world right now, undefeated so far in the 2019 season, let's take a look at this race from Tyler, so here he just did a straight turn on his first race and I think that took away all the vibe knowing it wasn't the race I wanted to do, but as soon as we saw it land, we knew everything was on fire, everything was working perfectly and to think I had to do this twice right I can't explain how dangerous it is here.
There are so many things that could go wrong, which makes it look so easy that it's scary to even practice something you don't want to do unless you have to and to win this competition, he had to do it now about this guy's athleticism and the. experience you have is that even if you don't feel thefield, you are a little confused, there are some tricks that you have been training hard for and that you did not consider appropriate in this field, even while improvising and changing. his plan against what he wanted to do, he still drops a run like that, you're right, the chairlift was in the way during his run, but that was a double tail whip, so I made smart decisions using his experience to know he was a a little careless with the windshield wipers, so I was going with something that I knew was going to land and that right there, a jump backwards, with the tail up, is not something you see every day on the tail of a whale, it is alright matt jones is in the finish corral let's talk to brett brett honestly buddy against all odds with a couple of mistakes in that first race you blew my mind with the most impressive race how did it feel buddy?
I also blew my mind. It was not. I didn't even expect to do it. to do a race of that caliber and then all the guys were submitting it and I was like, man, I like it, I'm here like this is my chance, you know, regardless of all the shitty practice and everything that happened this week. Like me, I have to try, so yeah, you said you were doing well when you got your first run and you went down, you said it wasn't the tricks you had planned all week, I mean, you've been improvising, you've come up with different runs.
Last minute were the races you had planned or they are actually above and beyond what you thought you would have to do. No, no, like this was maybe the first race that was maybe average for me and then I like the last one. In a second, right before I walked in, I thought I was going to turn around, I'll do this, this, that and awesome dude, I'm so happy for you, congratulations, thanks man, okay, that's great storytelling, this is really taking shape. to be unspeakable emilio haunton at the top of the leaderboard right now 95.75 brent reader enters improvises a great race what will the judges do with it? the score to beat 95.75 the judges take their time and the mill just waits to see if it goes to have to improve the race you just saw from brett reader i can hear the drum roll here comes the score brett reader with a 94.5 good enough for second place a smile from brad and a sigh of relief from emilio hansen oh so close i mean these The guys were halfway dodging a huge bullet right there this is it i mean this is the new chapter which is leaning right here, I have a point between them in Innsbruck and right now the same two names for the top of the standings, but yes, that's you.
He said it, it's time to dodge a bullet, right reader, so close to potentially taking that triple crown, but he'll have to try again next year, but it's not a bad day for Brett Reader who is still in second place, so this is Jakob Vensel's Something Cool We Like to See for the second race. He usually chooses another band t-shirt. Yes, the power seemed to work for race number one. He also seems excited right now. He's ranked 11. Oh man, he's fired up, isn't he? bouncing around, we heard he had a sprained ankle, I wasn't sure if he was going to be able to ride, but he did a perfectly clean race in race number one and now is his chance to up the caliber of tricks and try to get some further. points entering the top ten, potentially top three, capable of great things starting with the 360 x up, right there, back, no hands on the barrel, now entering the triple threat, opting for the hip again, changing feet and looking for the double tail upwards.
I love the way he changes his stance doing double taillights, now he enters the flight deck, falls 360, doesn't drive, another move we saw from him in race number one, a unique combo right there, casserole x up, so getting a combo is able to hold up. Can he clean the shark fin, oh man, increasing the risk on that jump right there, just tuning out a little bit? Well, he was doing what he had to do. He had a smooth first attempt and then added the variation. Nikolai can appreciate those eggs in a casserole. above you can also appreciate the fact that he landed low and on his side and kept pushing, but unfortunately the speed lost with that less than soft landing on the pot x above caused him to come off that shark fin and Sabbath's black t-shirt seemed to be more powerful juju Yes, number one, I say he will keep the Black Sabbath jersey for the entire season next year.
I feel like he played more too. He had never seen that luke in his eye at the starting gate. Everything was going well. I feel like he was going to prove it. some new things in the final features, but jakob pencil places relatively well in the general classification, we hope to see him back in form in rotorua march, but that will be it for yaka pencils red bull joyride 2019. So, with a cash roll being a 720 rotation he was trying to add that variation there, let's look back and see how far we've come with that trick, the 720, how many different variations we've seen over the timeline of this sport, the first 720 landed in a competition back in 2006. in the sea, edsel in 2007 brought it, that's a name we haven't heard in a long time, but brennan semic brought quark 720 bar spins in 2015 and then brett reader improved on that by doing that opposite rotation trick.
I like seeing that picture, jamie goldman, right? Oh yeah, to top it all off, this sport has progressed so far since its inception in 2003. I never would have thought we'd find ourselves talking 1080s on the front track, but right now we've got our next rider on the doorstep, Max Fredricks and another swede Rider, we've seen you on injured reserve for so long that you need a big result here to stay on the circuit. The way the f b point structure works is that if you are injured and miss the events, they freeze your points, so this is your chance to stay. double truck driver on the tour, get off right there oh no, start strong for max frederickson, but a dead sailor in the second feature, this is not what you need to stay on the tour here, it looks like it might be a throwaway, I think we saw it.
He does a triple truck driver in that opening feature and only gets the double this time, but still, even a double truck driver is such a cool move and we'd love to see Max finish his races with all the tricks we know that can do, so we. I've seen Max do this in the past, it's miss a trick early on and then just shake up the run, that's something we've seen Brett Reader do a lot in the past, it's kind of a learning experience, you know, of course, you want the career of your dreams. but in this game sometimes you have to improvise.
Brett Reader finally learns that and it has served him well. He is sitting in second place right now. You have to think that if Max Frederickson kept trying to do all the tricks he could muster, he would be able to do it. to move up the rankings, he is in tenth place and because of this at this time we will not move up any further. We hope those 10th place points are enough to see him start the 2020 season in a new position. Zealand, but it will not be a guarantee for him. Here we go, Thomas Lemoyne at the starting gate.
There is a lot of camaraderie among our competitors. Let's take a look at what Emilio Hansen, their current leader, had to say about Thomas Lemoine. tomas lemoine oh wow yeah he's a fun guy he really is a loud guy like you you'll know when he's in the room he's a fun guy that I enjoy hanging out with and he has a lot of energy as you can see from all of his previous results on regarding pump track and speed. and the style and the crank works hill style and all that is so talented he has such good control of the bike and is strong enough to do really good races in all the different disciplines so yeah it's amazing well , there you go if that's not enough to grab you.
We are excited about our next competitor with the backing of the current leader right now and it is true that this guy has the most energy than everyone else and to get rid of that energy he competes in so many different disciplines and all this hard work stops, but this What matters most is his last run here for Thomas Lemoine, starting with a double truck driver who starts to descend and hits the sram up box with a tailwind backflip, great move right there for Thomas des moines, so far things are good. They looked just like they did in race number one, the rail, that hip-hitting berm, 360 tuck, no handbar, turn so smooth, so much style, every time this guy gets on a bike, it's a pleasure to see the 360 table on the flight deck, falling flat right now. on the sram it goes up with a 360 no hand opposite fold oh just a slight over rotation landing a little heavy on the rear wheel losing your feet and not being able to carry speed towards that shark fin right there Des Moines is going to check with that 360 opposite fold No player, you know he's in ninth place right now, so he was looking to improve on that, but he's also ranked second in the world right now, based on his results in the first two events.
He took a second place in Rotorua and a fifth. place in Innsbruck so you are guaranteed to see him in 2020 despite this race here where he will not improve his current 9th place but he is going to do something for the crowd here at kokanee whale tail look how many people are there down in the finishing corral and that will be it for Thomas the Moines, Crank Works' busy 2019 world tour competing in so many different events, yeah, you know what I'd like to say, this is what's ridiculous, as we remember it . You know, the days of yore with that flashback timeline there and there was a time when the 360 in the final feature was so important and that capped a great career, now you see Thomas Lemoyne just throwing a fancy 360 . when the race is throwaway it just shows the level these guys are at, so this right here, look at the size of Thomas Lemoine, over six feet tall, and look how much he keeps falling right there, in great style on that 360 table, I mean.
If you're on the roof maybe you watch some fireworks maybe you're a roofer everyone has been on a roof at some point in their lives they know when you're standing on the edge your brain is telling you don't fall off this these guys are rolling at that same height on their bike and voluntarily not only rot, they are spinning, flipping and doing all kinds of stunts. Put yourself in their shoes, it really helps you appreciate their athleticism. the 14 best slopestyle athletes in the world here at the event we call the red bull joyride slopestyle mountain biking super bowl so diego cavalzazi loaded in the door currently sitting in 7th place reliving his season right now he hasn't been able to get a The best result is a result that is worthy of obtaining so far this season, the best results so far and 11th place, so he is already improving, he would like that seven to be a lower number and he had a first run without problems, let's see what decisions he makes here. everything he did landed perfectly smooth, he's got a huge bag of tricks, so we'll see what he chooses in run number two right here, he's got a base to work from, yeah, he took his hands off there, I think I saw a crease, no .
Hander on that front jump shuts down the barrel, so he's trying to get a little more out of this run. He had a great move right here in round number one, back jump bar, spinning tail whip, he's got that gimmick so unlocked it's crazy, there's so much going on. on a big flat turn right there it's cool to see diego riding so smoothly red bull come on long story short oh man you can see right when he took off there wasn't enough speed and that's what we're talking about it really illustrated the lack of margin for air on those two steep jumps for the middle section of the course, they shoot straight up into the air, the box knuckle is about a foot wide and if you fall short your run will come to an abrupt stop, so I was landing everything. those tricks as smooth as this backflip bar turns to tailwhip, lucky for him, the trick he has blocked is also a trick that the judges love to score high, he is very on point, look how soft he lands on this flat backflip, look head. there is no movement, just look at that burn, you see many passengers getting off a house and swaying, but this is where things stopped abruptly, the casserole, let's see if when we get to the landing, everything is okay, make a pause right there.
Look, this landing here is only a foot wide at the top and it landed right on the top that will compress the entire body and move over the bars, roll the treadmill, there's no amount of fitness or strength, there's no amount of days in the gym that will get you through that Casey landing, so Diego covers for Ossie putting together what could have been a high score here,Unfortunately we won't know what he would have planned for the end of the tour, but let's remember. you where are we right now the highest score to beat 95.75 emilio hanson was the guy that lowered that score now this guy right now so many things happen in these races the regulars are against bar twists everything these judges are looking right there, 360 degree internal table. up to the bar spin 360 degree spin bar spins the bottom to the opposite bottom of the tail by the way, everything the judges are looking for, he has mastered the backflip, the double tail, it's perfect, pedal right at the top of the landing there are no bubbles anywhere in this race and that's why his score is where it is like 95.75 okay so as a little perspective here this is a guy who's been called the future of this sport by none other than Brandon Semenek when he shared a podium with him in 2017.
Emil was the second place finisher Brandon Semenok won. Brandon Seminak no longer competes in this discipline. Emil is the heir apparent. He now he still hasn't won a Crankbrook Slope style stop. If he could win the Red Bull Joyride as his first stop at Crank Works, it would be just as strong a decision. statement as you can imagine, but up next at the door we have a host of riders looking to take that win away from emilio hansen right now towards quatto testa with his chance now torquato had some unique moves in race number one and george the judges told him they rewarded, so he's getting that 360 from the initial drop and this here, let's see if he does it again.
Superman got a better extension than race number one. He kept that extension. He didn't spend much air time with it, but it makes him look good big time. double backflip I thought he was going to over rotate that for just a second, wow did he keep his hands off me? Oh my gosh, it looked like he was going for the flip back flat, no hands bend, pig, 720 bar twist, ah, torquado had gone too far right there. Sitting in 6th place, not far from 3rd place, trying everything he could on this Red Bull Joyride podium, we've seen Torquato Testa consistent and conservative getting back on tour, but it's been a while since we've seen Torquato Head.
Let's really throw caution to the wind, we're going to have to go back and analyze this race because this is the torque test we've been waiting to see for some time. First of all, I want to look back and see that this would not go down. in the middle of the course it gets oh look at those two hands out you gotta be kidding me yeah I'll get an extension on that huge now we don't see too many flat drop backflip variations that would be new to the sport here and then taking a page out of the stream of Brett Reader and Brandon Semonite with this quark 720 bars, but unfortunately, like Diego, he came up short on a seven, no, he went long, sorry, the rear wheel couldn't stop the rotation, so close, Torquato has always been one. in the past to try some crazy things this season we've been playing watching him play super smart but getting that first top ten score I knew he had room to play so it's great to see Torquado come out of it. his comfort zone and trying some new things in race number two, so Torquato with a fourth and a six on the season currently sitting in another sixth place right now, can you hold on to those points so we can see him throw caution to the wind? wind again in 2020, but a rider who has been so excited over the last two seasons is this young German, Eric Fedco, with a podium last year here at Joyride.
He is currently in fifth place and needs to move up a couple of places if he wants to repeat. what he did last year guaranteed a top five position at the red bull joyride, we'll see if he'll achieve that result or improve, but knowing this guy I think he'll try to improve by changing his trick right there with a huge 360 move bar spinning the tail whip changing his move there with a 360 tail whip wow completely changing his race so far from race number one i really missed the secret turn oh man that was an exciting start to a race but i missed that Superman's secret turn right there will hurt his score but it looks like he's going to end his race truck driver yeah great 360 degree seat indiana he's just having fun now but this race is still very punctual I want I mean, he's practically doing a wave race, but he's still doing all his biggest tricks just feeding off the crowd, man, it was an exciting start to a race, I was looking for that first position, that's for sure, what do we have here?
Yeah, it looks really funny the way he does it, that was something like that. one of my favorite things of the day right here and he's doing it just for the crowd so Eric Fedco with a fifth place to lean on, that's where he'll live in a very respectable position and a hint of what he'll do . He will bring this very consistent boy to the 2020 season, which will undoubtedly be invited. Expect to see him back on the podium soon. The future of the earring style looks bright. Did you see the combo I was trying to put together here?
Yes. The truck driver whipped the tail, but did you see what he wanted to get out of that box again? Three lashes of the bar whip and then he was trying to squeeze the bar. He'd been there, that would have been six tricks from two opening performances right there. he's looking at seat one to put his hand there for that trick, you have to be committed from the lip, so you missed that window and it's not going to happen, but he still threw a great run that fell completely short. of a two-story building that was sure to be a crazy race, but it wasn't a bad day for Eric Fedko, he guaranteed that fifth place and got the points.
He is on his way to a great 2020 season. Well, Eric Fedco is not only one of the best in the world, he is also a fan of the sport, so I know he feels the same as us, very lucky to be able to see nikolai rogatkin and david godziak with his last chance to take emilio hansen out of gold medal territory, two riders who absolutely have what it takes to make it in two more races at red bull joyride 2019, you won't want to miss it, stay tuned, it's been a blast growing up as a globetrotter over the last few years on the crank rx world tour, but it's also great to hear. which is building mountain biking around the world, we're excited to do it again in 2020, but right now, throughout the season, these are the situations where we imagine situations like this where emilio hansen is sitting in the leading spot with a 95.75 and guys like nikolai ragakin are doing everything they can to try to unseat him in the number one race.
Nikolai Rogakin was absolutely going for it and he wasn't going to stop until he completely crashed, I mean there was nothing stopping this guy, this race was showing great promise to take that first place, it all started off great , then had a couple of mistakes midway through, but right there, the 360 degree turn pan inward, here everything was going pretty well and then, here, things started to go a little bit, falling short . with that double-tailed whip, but somehow forcing it, most people would just go off the track right there. He squeaked with a triple tail whip after that and then finished with a 720 cork.
If Nikolai Ragan is still rolling, he's still trying to win even after a crash in Innsbruck, popped up and was still thrown out of the cannon trunk, So what will the story be now? Can Nikolai Raga take Emilio Hansen off the hot seat and win back-to-back Red Bull Joy races? Oh man, this is exciting, Nichola. Herrogotkin feeds off this crowd, always a threat to first position, starting things off as streak number one with that double tail 360 cash roll, such a big move right there, right now he's on track to be in that first What will it be on earth? feature 1080 spins oh my goodness, I thought it would fall a little short right there, landing perfectly smooth right now, it's doing everything the judges are looking for, a 360 bar spin on the flat drop, coming in so quick on this feature right here casserole man wow. come on oh my gosh that race was crazy everything was going perfectly to plan he looked so calm and collected and collected I felt like there was no way I was going to make a mistake in that race well yes I know Nick Lyra Gotkin , I know it will go. do something to finish his path in this course he doesn't want to end like this so you think with one more bullet to dodge emilio hansen a tentative smile emil one step closer to getting his first working crank victory, well this is crazy, first of all Let's watch and see how Nikolai Ray Gakkin entertains the fans here, come on geez, just for fun.
Hammer Nick Lyra will have to settle for fourth place at the 2019 Red Bull Joyride, but man, it was that exciting, you know what? However what he has done is turn this season around with no results in the first two events, a fourth place is exactly what Nikolai needed and let's send it to Sherlock Jones, Nikolai mate I'm so gutted for you but you still did a great job. I know this year hasn't been one you remember fondly, but last year you're still the sole crown of the triple crown, how does it feel to be here in Whistler and putting on such a good show? man I'm so excited to be here, there are better vibes every year.
I felt really good in that race, bummed about crashing, but I'm still in fourth place, so fourth place in the Joy Ride isn't a bad day. Mountain bikers dream of being here. ride this so thanks swiss for being so epic and i will be back yeah we are excited to see you back man congratulations your legend wow nikolai ragan with a smile on his face always puts a positive spin on it that's right fourth place in Joyride is still a good feeling, but we are in a crazy situation right now that we haven't seen since 2012. We haven't had a European winner.
We haven't had a winner anywhere other than North America for an incline-style stop. Given that Thomas Genoan won Joyride in 2012 and right now it will either be Emil Johansson who is currently in the hot seat or David Godziak will be jaw dropping and sweeping the rug out from under the young Swede, we will soon know what the history books will read about David Godzilla. rookie season on the Crank Works World Tour and right now he's the only person with a chance to take this win from Emilio Hansen, who's going to perform a backflip right there, so what looks like race number one He will be satisfied with that third place.
Well, I didn't expect that to happen, I guess it's 100 official here. Emilio Hanson's first victory in joke pending style comes at joyride 2019. I'm sure it's the first of many victories for this young Swedish rider who has been called the future of this sport, but David Godziak decided that race number one It was exactly the race he wanted and he didn't try to improve on that in race number two. It's amazing to see, but sometimes you look at the people in front of you and you look at your own bag of tricks and you're happy with where you are david godzilla took third place at red bull joyride his first two appearances in two crank slopestyle third places but right now the story is about this guy who we've never seen a victory lap during such a crankbait style event because surprisingly he hasn't won one yet.
He was 2017 world champion throughout 2018 due to illness. His parents were in Canada for the first time to cheer up his son and apparently that did the trick. the catalyst needed for this young man at the top of his sport to finally win an event, beating guys like brett lector david godzick nikolai rogack and eric Fedco and now he can celebrate from the first time we saw emile fall on a slopestyle course. I knew this was coming, look at him just playing around 360 tail up on the start, low, oh my goodness, and he's putting on a show having fun with his victory lap, 2019 Red Bull Joyride champion and man this kid has been through a lot.
I can't imagine what's going through his hand right now. Come on, plan fast from the fall. It's so much fun to see what these riders are going to do when they're soaking up such a professional achievement in front of such a big crowd and this guy with a lot of style, just riding for fun right now is telling us exactly what tricks he really likes to do here and you know who has been thinking about this moment for a long time now, raising his fist to the crowd, it is official that Emile Johansen has won Red Bull Joyride 2019.
And that has to make all his competitors feel good, so excited to see him again in scene. So much respect between all these guys. Everyone here knows everything he has been through and what he has been capable of since he won the overall. in 2017, yeah, you know what was so emotional seeing him get fourth place last year, multiply that by a thousand seeing him win this event, autoimmune diseases, injuries,They're there, but then when you have a good race and then you just see your family is so happy for you, you know they were nervous for you, they don't want to get hurt, they don't have a bad day, so you know it's crazy to have them. there, having that support, are moments that families remember forever so it's always good, so brett reader with the silver medal here it seems like it was yesterday we are analyzing side by side the first place and the second place from Innsbruck and We've already talked about first place, let's take a look at Brett Reader's silver race and just digest some of the pretty crazy highlights, we're talking about a silver medal race right here, as we watch Brett Reader run, We had no idea what he was going to do, he said he would.
I don't feel much of the route, but he came out swinging with the mortal front of him right here. He could have chosen so many different tricks right there that you really have no idea what he's going to do. I like it when he throws us for a loop. He had expected to see some kind of half cap variation on these flat traps, he didn't do any and came out with the surprise of that front drop on the opposite cork 720 on the biggest feature on the course right there and this is one of the most dangerous moves that you could perform on a slope style track, flat back flip, tail whip, I had to do that twice today coming up to this, we weren't sure if we were going to see the wiper again, but he decided to play around a little more safe in the knowledge that I could land that double tail whip and right here we had no idea who was going to take first place.
Emile's race and Brett's races looked pretty even at this point right here, a backspin on the opposite side of the tail whip to end Brett's readers' second place race. So it's so casual with that jump back with the opposite tail up. You know there was a time when just doing that on a straight jump was going to get you a high score and you could tell it was the opposite, now he's doing it on the down step and it looks identical to his normal version, well speaking informal in nature, we just had a very tall Swedish guy casually walk into our booth, so I have to do something very important.
I have to say thank you very much for everything, your showmanship, your attitude, your smile and, of course, you. We are traveling and can't wait to see you in Rotorua next year. Thank you. I'll come back later. Nikolai Ragakin. Can you smell some champagne? Yes, I can smell exactly one pungent aroma in the air from a mile away. He is still very far away. us and we can smell it so vividly so nicola rogecan does the little baton pass to emilia honson your gold medalist here today with this unique trophy you see well done yes good job yes very strong similar smell here now, great, I smell like I actually smell like winning, okay, that's it, it's hard to imagine because we've been considering you the future of this sport for a couple of seasons and now you've been through so much that you came back here to accomplish a triumphant fourth place last year.
There were times when you said you didn't even know if you would ever be able to ride a bike again. There were times when you thought you'd never climb to the top step of a Crank Works podium. Have you been there. before but you still haven't gained what that feels like and how long you've been dreaming about this moment uh it's really hard to put into words how much this means to me, I mean struggling in the past with back problems and autoimmune diseases. The problems have put me on a path where I thought I would never get back on the track riding a bike and it's been nice, it's been a pretty difficult two years, to be honest, it's like the year after the World Tour championship, something that I wasn't imagining it at all. this would happen one day and now to be here two years later and to be back on the podium once I got second place, yeah, it means a lot and it's nice to see all the hard work pay off, like I mean, what I've been through.
The ground often takes the dust off my shoulders after crashing big tricks and yes, it's definitely not easy to put it off now, we've never seen a victory lap from you because you haven't won a crank track until today, so let's talk. About the victory lap later, let's talk about the race that allowed you to get the victory here. I feel like this might be the first time you're seeing it on camera, so I want to hear you relive this moment. Do you want to know about me? Yes, yes, yes, you don't want to know anything about me, you already have if I, oh, about this race, yes, let's hear what you think when you go, yes, I don't know about the option of doing the hip instead of the straight why did you make that decision uh most people were doing well and for me I felt like I could show a little bit of a different style of going hip and plus we struggled a lot with the headwind in practice and stuff and I thought that saving the cork would be a good trick for riding it into a headwind, so I was kind of prepared for race day and then yeah, I guess the rest of the round I did a double whip.
It's also a good trick to be honest, when there is a lot of headwind, like if I do a lot of combos with the wind, in the end it is very difficult to achieve, although three whips on power up was not easy to achieve with the wind, I never did enough . to quit, did you know you had a winning streak as soon as you stepped on that last chance? To be honest, I have dreamed of having a winning round after the first round of course, but I also missed some things that I would like to improve, so I knew that I don't know if the judges knew that I had something else in the tank, I never It's known and it's a feeling really full of amazing riders and writers, they have different types of writing styles that I do.
I can't really like to compare, like, oh, I did one more spin with the bar, there, one more brush, you see a completely different rotation, so it's, yeah, it's very hard for me to get up and watch every rider go down and then try to do it. Stay calm and I also like to be prepared. I had my headphones on trying to stay amped up to do a second round. I was ready to try to improve, but yeah, just improving that race I thought was going to be impossible and then just doing the race itself. and then improving it would be yes it would be difficult, well you are such a young guy and you have been able to reach such a high level in such a short time and now you have won the biggest event in the world so I can't wait to see what happens when we Let's find ourselves in the southern hemisphere in March and you've had all these months to practice more tricks and do more barspins in places we never expected.
I have to thank you. Thank you very much for entertaining us and congratulations, thank you very much, it means a lot, so Emilia Hansen won the battle here, but we have to talk about the overall Crank Works FMB Slopestyle World Championship series. We're giving away those prizes right now. Brett Reader with two wins and a second place that give him enough points to be in the top step. He is the world champion for two years in a row. Camille, you know what it feels like in 2017, you're at the top, yes, it's the way to go. so torquato testa got that third place and thomas lemoine held on to those consistent results, well that's it for the 2019 season, stay with us for 2020, just a few months left, we are going to start a completely new season in which we will rewrite The next chapter of this amazing slopestyle mountain biking sport in beautiful Rotorua, New Zealand, mmm, well if you enjoyed what you saw here, join us March 2-8 in Rotorua, New Zealand where we'll kick off from scratch and wrote a completely new story.
A spectacle, Tyler's final thoughts on today's event. I think it's one of the best we've seen. We knew this kid would be on top for a long time since we saw him fall on a slope style course. We knew it. He came long awaited but we knew he would be here and here he is on the first step. I don't think this is the last time we'll see him here, as a foreshadowing of what we'll see in the future. well, thanks to all our competitors for working so hard for our entertainment, thanks to emilio hanson for giving up the race of his life and giving us that entertainment.
I have to thank you all for seeing us, I've been your introduce to cam mccall along with tyler mccall, matt jones, darren faircloth and all our production team here, thanks for joining us and we'll see you again in Rotorua in March 2020. Oh yeah.
