that's the question how we're doing it's not great it's not but every day in every way there's a new way to surprise you oh yeah it's a tough bar to stick to but he finds a way to do it yeah there's if they just bury the bar now so we can clean it up okay but before we get to anything else I want to talk to you about your grandfather Bobby Kennedy for a moment because last month was the 50th anniversary of his murder, which I remember as a kid, one of my earliest memories was the slow train with your grandfather's coffin in it, because the question is do all Americans feel that have some kind of ownership and relationship to your family we have our own stories about your grandfather but what stories do you tell in the family what are the things you choose to remember the stories you like It's nice to tell that Stephen is there are stories that I think you know and that many Americans know about the role that he and his family, his brothers and sisters have played in our history the Cuban missile crisis the booth at the school gate the civil rights battles is obviously the campaign for the presidency and the turmoil that I saw in 1968 and that's important and that's important to me and my family, there's the other side that's not being said, which is just that he was a father, he was a brother, um, father of 11 and yes, which is a lot. true, it's those stories that I rely on the most, it's the stories of them as a huge group rafting down the rapids of the Colorado River for large portions without a raft, just an air mattress, true, that changes the definition of whitewater rafting are the photos and stories they have of sailing and spending time together in the summers is playing soccer are those pieces that families have that I think are lost and many this is a public family, yes, but You know my favorite day of the year is Thanksgiving because we have most of our family around one table and it's like you have to be the first in line because if you're not well, I'm myself, one of 11 children, yes, what you reach for someone else's skin from their plate, you will withdraw a stone damn competitive sport, do you use dual blood as a family reuniting and still like to play football in everything?

Yeah really yeah I mean it's a younger generation that ends up playing football but yeah it's fun so in your response to the State of the Union you said the state of our union is hopeful, resilient, enduring, how do you feel seven months later? you're putting up with something you know the end of Animal House or Kevin Bacon saying everything is fine and kicking me out you know something like that but look at the bottom line I have the same amount of faith in our country it's this administration that it's leaving people ago wn and they're letting people down every day and i see i feel like he talked about it a couple of months ago but at the same time you see individual americans doing amazing things every day last week there's a story of a young man who walked 11 miles to work on his first day and you know what his boston gave him his coworkers gave him a car there was a story about a teacher who got on a plane and talked about trying to give how not to they did had enough school supplies and the passenger behind her heard the story passed her a hundred dollar bill someone else on the plane gave her some money she left the plane with five hundred dollars worth of school supplies for her students people who choose to do these amazingly funny things to strangers every day, so I'm in a job where you really understand this, you see and hear those stories, you talk to those people, and I have a lot of faith in the American public, my faith in this administrator. last week didn't reach the same level of trust mm-hmm well i agree with you i also have faith in the american people most of them didn't vote for this taxi yeah and i think the american people are good people and what worries me is that they'll be taken to a bad place there and told it's a good place, they know they're being put in a position of moral hazard to have to call something a sin of virtue and what it is. there in Congress, obviously, you are a Democrat, you are not in the majority, what do you think? we literally had a vote today to try to restore election security funding for our midterm elections and it was voted down by our majority republican why what was the reason?

I have no idea that your great uncle our president said that those who make the peaceful revolution impossible make the violent revolution inevitable which is the peaceful revolution that is most possible for us look is to go back to those stories I said this I have to go and they are the stories you see if you're out and about this country every day are the 600,000 people who showed up in austin texas on the anniversary of a woman's march and all those pope people who will help my friend do a better job get elected to the texas senate and beat ted cruz, good luck, thanks to your friends, congressman. joe
