Rebuilding A Wrecked 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Part 9

May 31, 2021
Alright, we're back and welcome to your turn buddy, right here listen to what's on the menu today. What's happening? Guys, welcome back to the channel. So today we are finally back in our

2020

Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and as you can see we have. I still have to paint the outside of this thing, but I pretty much have to paint this whole side, so what we're going to start doing is actually wet, ship these doors, this windshield frame, this fender and also on the back here. Go ahead and wet, send that quarter panel and also the back end of the tub that we're going to mix in, so let's go ahead and grab some supplies, a bucket of water and let's start wet sanding this thing so it's completely wet . on this green door here along with the primer area as well and I went ahead and sent the entire windshield frame except this primer area and you may have noticed that I pulled a little bit of yellow tape along all the edges and that's because there are rubber seals there and we don't want to scratch that or even scratch the glass, because it will scratch the sandpaper.

We have a little Jeep crawling around here. All of this is saying that we have to preserve that original glass right there, but the next thing is to sand that primer quite a bit right there, then we'll move on to the back section here, we'll sand that door, that fourth panel and also the back half of the tub with which we will mix as we mentioned. before let's go ahead with sand and try to sand all of this guys so look at this we finally sanded the back half of this Jeep and I just want to show you exactly how we're going to do this tape line when we're painting it and we're going along this seam here and right along the seam sealant all the way down there will be a hard line but it's right on the edge so you'll barely notice it. be almost done, but as for that side over there, the side panel is 100% sanded along with the rocker panel and this pillar here, so this is all good, we may have to do some touch-ups each time. dry, but right now we have One more thing, just sanding and that's actually our fender, so what we're going to do is take it completely a

part

, throw it back on the Jeep and wet sand it.

rebuilding a wrecked 2020 jeep gladiator rubicon part 9...

Okay guys, we've got everything completely wet sanded, but as you can see, it's gone dark. It's up to us, so we're going to go ahead and put the top back on the Jeep and we'll catch them in the morning. Alright, so will the next state here. We just got off the phone with the paint booth guys and it's actually currently busy, which is no big deal because we can paint here in the garage with gun marks, we get some pretty good paint jobs besides the excessive amount of junk, but if you look closely at the original paint, it's nice and smooth, which means we're going to have to polish anyway to get to that finish, but the next most important thing is to seal these doors and we're going to have to seal an exit off the Jeep. because we don't want anything cool. overspray goes on that red paint and it's going to ruin those door jams, so let's go ahead and take them off and try to prep them for some caulking, so we finally have both doors taped shut and as best I can, I say we had to tape them a certain way so there wouldn't be overspray on the back because they are already painted and clear coated.

The next step is to mix up some sealant and go ahead and Seal both doors and I think once we're done with the sealant we'll probably also apply a base coat to get maximum coverage, that way we won't have to sit there and just spray them also. You know what I mean, yeah, I definitely want them to read that way, let's not just focus on the doors and mess up the whole flow, you know exactly, this is going to take a lot of paint, but let's go ahead and mix it up. Let's get our caulking up and try to get them right so we finally put two coats of caulking on these doors and as you can see they are currently drying, we turned on the propane heater right there trying to speed things up but it just isn't hot.

I guess it's not hot enough and our idea is to go ahead and buy two more of these devices right here. We have two more propane tanks, so I think that will definitely heat this room. We even have the stove on there. but it's just not hot enough, sexy, cold enough today, that's what takes the longest, waiting for the paint to dry, so let's run to the store, grab what we need and we'll go from there, yeah, and let's grab a John Deere real quick, we need one on John Deere is available, man, you know how fast you can move and mow the lawn, Willy's lilies, all that good stuff, let's see what they got.
I say we buy a small mini fireplace and blow it up right next to it. to the Jeep, where are those devices? Oh, that's cool, is there a stronger one because that one is pretty strong, but if there is a stronger one, oh yeah, I guess these are the only ones? 84 dollars oh wait what is this the 30. radiant heat that's the most important thing is a radiant heater because kerosene without fish eyes or anything like a fan will blow dust into the fish eyes. This does nothing except the heater we have on. wood, but yeah, let's take two of them and I get a candy, I can take some other supplies.
I'm not sure yet. Heaters if you hook up some other supplies and I think we're ready to go so we thought we were going to go home but we're a little hungry you know while we're here you better get what you need. Well, we're not trying to waste the whole day, right, he's loaded up with baked potato soup. Sun spot. I guess I'll have to try it. some of that we'll probably go buy other kids too, you know, we like to cook from time to time, from time to time, let's go take some planes, they'll come home, we're whipping this thing very strange today.
It's a spanker, this is a commuter right here man, well everyone gasps, I think we spend like a dollar a week on gas on this thing, this thing is nice and it's a clean title, the wife loves it, right? ?, you know, yes, I think you love it more than your wife because you drive it better, no, I always order this car because I hate spending that money on the v8 and being ten. I know, I like the four in a row, but I think we have everything we need, we have about a store and a half.
Now let's get back home, okay, so we're back, you know, welcome to your turn, buddy, right here, what's on the menu today? Let's go have some shrimp and steak tacos, tone down these suckers and have some good shrimp and steak tacos, bone in, apple cloves. Alright, so we set up our fleet of heaters here, man, it's so nice and warm right there that I can't even stay there for long, but as it is now, it's pretty much just grab some paint and start painting, yeah , we are. I'm going to go ahead and throw in probably a few layers of base layer and this sucker should warm it up and then when you probably hit it on the side of the Jeep again, wrap that thing where it's going to roll with this, let's keep moving so we've got a couple layers of red on these doors and they're drying out pretty quickly with our supercharged heating system, but come with me, let me show you one more thing we need to bring in here before we put the whole Jeep in and That's this fender, we're actually going to take it off and you'll see this tab here, right here, we won't be able to reach it once this door sprays all over this side, so just take it out and let's give it a A couple of red coats, guys, so we've got the Jeep in, we're about to close the doors and start wrapping that sucker, but as you can see, I've got my wheelbarrow here, we're going to go get some logs because we need them. nice and warm in there makes this whole process go a lot faster so let's take a log guys okay so they eliminated the most time consuming

part

of this process which was outlining this whole

jeep

with some tape sticky, but we did it. like a Tron car and the hardest thing was outlining this windshield seal right here because we don't want any red paint getting all over that black seal, but all we have left is to throw a tarp over this whole Jeep and then we're going to throw some of paint and mix all this.
The primer here is probably to get the most paint? We're going to go ahead and cover it with a tarp and then we'll get ready to spray. Okay guys, so the trifecta is working. Is incredible. We moved on and I threw on like four coats of base coat, nice thick coats and I have to say it's going down pretty well but we're running out of our base coat, hopefully we have enough fingers crossed that it all blends perfectly but man it's starting to unbelievable, that's how it is. everything seems to match here there are some little areas that I need to touch up exactly where we printed here, but I made sure to apply nice thick layers, that's why I see a little bit of lines, you know?
That's me, I'm just throwing on some thick coats, but they last like two coats on me. I'll miss everything here to match perfectly, but coming back here we ran into a little problem right where Blaine was happening. I think that's when the primer is almost like like crocodile skin right there we're going to have to send that with a 600 no big deal this is just drying the paint stop making this process much faster okay guys we just finished dumping our base coat and we went down nice and smooth, we just ran out just in time, we're out of firecracker red paint, but now it's time to start dumping our clear.
I already have a cup mixed. I'm probably going to have to mix like four or seven cups because I'm actually paying quite a bit right now and I wanted to get at least three coats on everything so we got a nice smooth finish to polish later, so let's go ahead and put our gun on this one. clear and ready. Shoot it right so it's the next day here and last night the porn started right above us so we had to finish it but look, it's finely painted and clear coated and it looks pretty good. I had the heaters on this morning so it's almost dry but not 100% cured.
We'll give it one more day before we start polishing this because it will definitely need polishing since you know, we get a little bit of junk. but if you look closely here, this is probably our worst area here, it's very difficult. I don't know if that's in a painter in the clear cut, what do you think it is? I don't know, man, maybe the paint fell off. dry every time we mix it because that's exactly where I mixed it, but in a weird way, yeah, and Stan says the paint is super thick, so that may be part of the problem, but hopefully we can polish it off, if not, We'll probably have to do it. send it with a 600 grit and re-clarify that is worst case scenario, best case scenario we will send it with a 2000, use all the steps and polish it, but other than that, the transition, all the mixes came out perfectly, as you can see. here it looks different colors here it looks different it looks different on camera but we didn't even spray paint like after this point so we stopped painting right here this is all just a fresh clear coat so I guess that's it which it is, but once we polish everything together, I think it will match perfectly, but other than that, look at the windshield frame, which is probably the smoothest piece, it came out nice and smooth, there's not a single blemish on it, but come on.
Take a look at the back of these doors, there's quite a bit, just a little bit of traction on that door. I think this quarter panel has a little bit of rough sawing going on, so yeah, check that out, but hopefully let's go now and you'll see that you can see pretty well into the camera right there. It's pretty crazy, it's not as bad as the fender, so I hope we can polish it up, but look at the rear section of that tub, it actually looks nice and smooth for the transition, the Flynn was perfect and that tape line over there It's perfect too, friend.
We're really excited to have this fully painted because once this is completely put back together, you may have noticed some boxes hidden in the background. This is going to be absolutely epic when we're done with everything, so there's a little sneak peek at our packages, but don't show them too much, but that'll be a summary of today's video.
