Rebuilding A Wrecked 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Part 11
Feb 19, 2020Realized it barely got there that's how we ran to the left right there whats up guys welcome back to the channel so today we'll continue to work on our
2020
jeep
gladiator
rubicon
as you know we're back on that dummy to the OEM. Spec the stockgladiator
forum and it looks pretty good but today we're definitely going to change that because we've got a bunch of aftermarketpart
s in here this is all from Rebel Off-Road and I honestly don't know what's inside because we've ordered so much so let's go ahead and open this stuff up and see what we got son of power red gordon surprised our blue that's legit and we're gonna chill in the front of thisjeep
so that's exactly what this piece is it's actually going to give enough room for the big coil to sit there like you lift it up it'll look so good under that jeep that's got nice legit welds and everything but dude anyways let's go ahead and open up the rest of these things and i see exactly what's right so check this out a few boxes later and we open up our control arms look at these beefy control arms here these suckers are thick mate and you've got the little hives is that i'm happy or just a joint normal i don't think the nice what does this say right there adam is johnny's joints right there what is this these are nice i think these are the front ones and these are the rear ones or vice versa i'm not sure or and we have some extended brake lines there too they have our sway bar links for the front and rigger and we have a huge cool guy spring holy moley this goes on the back so you can throw your starting point 500 it looks a lot bigger this it's the one i know it looks like but 4.5 is actually going to lift that asshole a lot and i don't even see how people go six inch or 6.5 my two most run 40 i think we're only going to run 37 but we have a few more packs here and that'll be it for now ok we finally unpacked everything we've got a big mess here but you're probably wondering what some of this stuff is and this right here is actually a bbq grill that we're going to build in the back of the bed rocker yeah a smoking hooker no we kidding this is actually going to be a bed shelf it's going to look really sick it will also have a tent on top this is going to be some kind of Land jeep we're going to build and here too these are our drag links or not drags these are our front and rear track bars they're nice and sturdy but as of right now we can't really do anything until we get the rest of our packs we've got a lot more on the way so we'll catch them tomorrow morning okay so the next one stays here and I know we said technically we can't get started on anything until we get a few more pieces But we could actually start with that rack because it has nothing to do with the suspension and, well, we can just throw this dummy on the lift and start some of the suspension components.I don't know yet but before we do anything we want to address our 4x4 problem why it's not working so we'll probably take the scanner and go in there and see if we can clear some codes so we've got ankle here ankle whatever . you wanna call it ethic 4000 right there so let's go ahead and plug this dummy see flash clear some codes and maybe i can play some Sega on this thing hopefully we get some kind of 4x4 code that can be cleared yeah or it's probably just some unhooked or maybe even another tweak why though we've got a mountain man so hopefully this right here really gives us a heads up but go ahead and turn it on and what games do we have Mario here so are you sonic sonic vs sonic on the sega man hey guys so no luck trying to figure out what's going on in the jeep and we even tried a little new computer right here but just no luck these things are kind of weak they're just made for engine codes and stuff. so because it even says no codes stored so basically nothing shows up but we have a code that says 4x4 service and the on off switch says something about that too so we may need to run. two V Tunes yeah that's right means they have a much better computer that could probably take advantage of that and see what's really going on yeah let's get it right guys so before we hit the V Tune store we decided to drop by for our property here just to give you a quick update and as you can see our property is still pretty empty we haven't started and that's because we didn't have some issues with the city and we finally got everything approved by the city now they're being withheld by the state because we have a pretty old drainage ditch that actually empties into city water so they're trying to address everything and once that's fixed we'll start digging footers here and start pouring our pad and that's when the building goes up so we're getting really close we're very excited and once those permits are pulled I think you and I will probably start building a nice privacy fence oh oh yeah I'm excited that's why. we're going to be sick we're going to be here a lot we're going to do a lot of work I think that's just a quick update now we're going to the VTN store all the right guys and we're here at Vito's store and he's got his launch computer device from NASA rockets right here, man, I hope this fool takes advantage of it. oh yeah that's what we were going to trade you for that one over there it's a dress that little button over there Mario shows up great yeah so after about 30 minutes of trying to log in we had bad luck because it's just i guess it's so new
2020
2020 and this computer makes 2019 i guess we thought maybe it's a jail yeah yeah we tried to jail to 2019 jail and i just wanna say we figured out a couple of codes they figured out that the TPMS module is not plugged in or yes that may be the main problem so we're just going to dig a little deeper and go from there so appreciate it tune in we'll catch you next time ok guys so we're back. and no luck trying to figure out why our cluster drive won't work we'll probably just take that chump to the dealership and let them figure it out but at this point we're going to go ahead and assemble our bed frame right here and the reason why we are running this bed frame is because we want to have a roof top tent and also a bunch of accessories like water jugs, fuel tanks, anything that can bolt on a pickaxe, a hammer, any shovel, something you really need to continue. a couple days ride and styles in the woods for quite some time and that's our plan is for you to get to know the look of Overland so let's go ahead and ride this fool and hopefully throw it in the back of the Jeep, OK? so we just finished setting up our bed here this looks absolutely amazing it's nice and solid over a hop here just to show how strong this sucker is yes sorry yes sir it could hold a lot of weight but it's You may have noticed that we actually got a half rack instead of the full rack that Rebel Off-Road offers because once we get our tent up there we want all the aerodynamics to flow properly and we're going to be traveling at a fairly high speed so that you know i want it to cut the air off the bed and this is where all your attachments go here it's probably going to make a jug of water pant your beak don't shovel anything buddy all you need to be in the woods for a while exactly maybe even throw some good light bars in here all the way and we'll light up the hole at our campsite and that would be cool mate but we're definitely going to make some really cool attachments to this thing and if you have any recommendations on the tent let us know because we want to a high quality one that will survive the weather because it will probably be there for most of its life so be sure to leave it in the comments section below but that's now we want this to get up and go. cleaning up that frame because there's a little bit of overspray on there and once we get the lift kit done all of that will be visible so we want it to look nice and clean so let's keep dropping those ferraris and put this silly up on it he saw he barely got there that's how we ran we left him right there about that height he sits 4.5 feet to the right yeah football 5 foot so that's like perfect heat too there so you know you can get through swamps mud ponds you can turn it into a little dark fishing pier where ever you did it will do everything right here ok yeah we're under here and what we want to do this frame looks a little crusty for 2020 with only 3,000 miles of surface rust I see on some small areas right here and on that side there's a little bit of primer that's oversprayed.Yes, we want this to look like new below. this thing looks brand new because once we live it on itself high you can see everything you're actually going to go pretty high it's not going to be four point five feet obviously there will be four point five inches but that's going to be Pretty damn half, We can even paint the axles a bit, which you're definitely going to do. stock up and grab some spray paint y'all good guys what do we need oxide-oleum primer and semi-gloss black? That's what we need, right? That's the only thing that removes rust, right?
Oh yeah, they only have one can here. that might work right there but that's usually best paint and prime what else do you want spray i want to do some red touch ups oh well actually we need some red for the bed shelf yeah we got a little emblem we want to paint there's some nice stuff here it lost its red it got so good so when i get this we're going to come right back so we finally come back and show you guys we're going to use this on a little bit later but we've got our scratch pads here we're going to start scraping on this frame we'll probably get these wheels up first and then maybe even tape some stuff down and then we're going to spray some paint like this we finally have everything scraped up the whole frame two axles and some other components too all we have left to do is blow all this dust out then we're going to get the wax and grease off and then we're ready for some paint , but before I go any further, I want to show you some of this factor, your work here.
I think they are factors. Look how thick the paint is on that thing. It started raining and running and all that good stuff. I bet that's a lot of paint. If you've seen this at the dealer and looked under it, you'll definitely see it right, you'd definitely notice it, but we'll take care of that, probably swap these out to some cooler ones, and read the gears as well. the axles probably for eight eighths or five thirteens but anyways let's go ahead and keep moving and try to get this sucker looking like new under here like new it actually turned out a lot better than we expected it's still drying out a bit like you can tell there are some wet patches but we were a bit late so we'll check it out tomorrow morning okay guys so next day right away and look at this front axle guy he's starting a little new down here we even paint all these little bars and stuff and it actually looks pretty cool but i'm surprised they actually like updating this Daisy we usually like to update them and paint them like color match the jeep or Sort of, yeah, but these already look like some heavy duty.
I wonder how they'll hold up like the impact of a rock when I'm off roading or something you know what I mean and we're definitely going to bounce this thing once in a while but look let's get to the rear axle now it's your extra cleaning we can walk this side right here look at this side of the frame rails perfect good condition and looks like it looks like this what you build here looks shiny new the rear axle is nicely painted everything looks good but one of the other things we're noticing on this jeep is the driveshaft right here which runs on a carrier bearing but look to this guy it goes from a one inch to two inch tube a green back to one inch to three inches man thats kinda weird dude I wonder if they have an aftermarket one that goes straight to the rear axle would it be nice to say that I would be?
I think Tom would drive shafts they actually have some high quality chefs thanks and I'm wondering if they really have a one piece one I'm actually wondering if they use this little carrier bearing or if you get an aftermarket one , it's probably just a shaft and they'll be fine yeah that would be nice but dude this thing's a little dirty underneath I guess they hit like a mud pie yeah there's still a lot to say, like on top of the transmission transfer case all that crazy stuff in there one of the main reasons this sucker was taken from us is because we've never been under a gladiator in the first place so we're noticing a lot of new stuff and secondly we're trying to figure out why our 4x4 doesn't work dude. so we're looking at the pinched wires all we can do i mean it's really hard to locate things under here yeah and we actually notice some things are damaged what a little idiot he would definitely have to do something about it and another crazy thing is this exhaust doesn't have any yes all the yes this engine has no headers or exhaust it's just kind of built into the engines you don't have anything weird so if you want to do a complete exhaust all you have to do is buy yourself some jacks and that's it yeah the jacks just go into the engine that's it I've never seen that before yeah but yeah that's it Definitely cutting some power this thing should be blowing up we've got a little leak here dude it looks like they didn't tighten that screw right or they might even remove it we don't know hopefully there's some fluid in there but look at this look at this little oil pan which is funny but I guess the whole bottom tower on these engines is actually pretty big you know what I mean yeah I mean these are called Pentastar engines, okay, they don't.
I don't have the most horsepower, but we'll work on that a bit later. There is still a lot of tape on all the bolts because we have taped everything down. We're going to have to remove all of that. the interior we got to change that glass and we got some other good stuff let's get it right guys we just installed that little rear glass in there real easy but now we're going to install a design engineering sound deadening kit this is going to be perfect for our Jeep right here all it does is basically a big sticker that will stick all over the hardtop and actually quieten the whole Jeep from wind noise and everything else and it's also a bonus because it's a thermal cover basically installation yeah thermal insulation so it will help there in hot and cold weather so what do you say Poke the hole in our hard tile wall, put it on the bracket and put this kit on boom, yes sir we finally installed that boom mat within 15 Minutes it was a super simple install it looks great I must say it will not only work as a sound barrier but it is also an appearance mod more or less a custom black liner so if there is too much white on your jeep this is the perfect mod for you perfect on the easiest mod easy super easy from installing these liberty panels they turned out amazing too so a big shout out to design engineering definitely follow them on instagram they have some great products they don't just have boom mat for your hard plus they also have a boom mat for the floor pan.
Check out this piece here. This is another sticker and it's nice and thick so it will definitely come in handy for our other builds in the future.
