I would like to thank my sponsors for suggesting this video and making it possible. If you would like to become a sponsor, you can click the link below and send me suggestions for videos like this. First, we just have regular steel wool. We use a small painter's tape and this is probably the oldest and most used method.

Many

guitar

ists don't like this method because small pieces of metallic steel wool can get stuck on the pickups because they are magnets. Use painter's tape and cover the magnets. I found it to be very effective to do this method. Too easy. Use a piece of painter's tape. Place it on each side of the

fret

. We'll start at the first fret. You can see this is a Squire Stage Master now you can use the whole pad if you want or you can use just part of it for this video. I'm going to use the whole pad, just hold it in my hand and it's very simple. just move from side to side and you can see how quickly it gets very bright.

This is the cheapest method. It costs about three dollars not including the tape, so for three dollars you can polish all your frets and see them. It will look great, I highly recommend that you polish your frets at least every time you notice them getting a little dirty whenever you see little indentations or dents or marks on them, it will also prevent them from corroding when they have worn down. worn spots now below we have a two way link between the d'addario fret

polishing

system that i have used and really like and the stu mac miracle cloth.

The d'addario polishing system comes with a cardboard template that you can take out and use as a fret protector, it works pretty well, there's even a narrow jumbo fret adapter, so what I'm going to do is show you that piece of cardboard on the center sticks out and again this will be your template, it's very easy. Let's place the second fret. Well, basically you take one of these sheets and if you're trying to figure out when you open this, if you don't want to read the instructions to figure out what to use, it's easy, take your finger. rub each side the friction the thick side the side that has more friction is the side you are going to use visually it doesn't look as shiny or as polished as steel wool at least in person, I don't know what the camera is going to pick up but I I would say they are on par.

I can't really feel that there is much of a difference. If I was going to give a win, I would definitely give it to steel wool, but again for a while. A couple of dollars more than steel wool, you have no problem having to cover your pills with duct tape and you feel pretty confident that you can reuse these sheets until they're practically gone. Number three will be the miracle cloth that says the miracle cloth. It is a multi-purpose polishing cloth with real coconut oil, unlike fake coconut oil, ready for immediate use, no wetting required. All surfaces must be dry.
Never use it on a wet surface. Okay, that says to rub a small section and that's it. go ahead it's got a bag inside a bag here yeah it smells like coconut oil so let's just wipe this down and then you wipe it with a clean cloth so let's get a clean cloth okay this is our third dish and again. it doesn't say we have to tape off the

guitar

area, very good this will go ahead and reset this and again this is reusable many times essentially although you just want to keep it dry it doesn't have a resealable bag but I'm sure that since it's double bagged, you can do something like that.
You'll be fine now. Gorgonite is a fret and fretboard cleaner, so it says you can use it on the fretboard too. This costs $10.95 at the time of filming this video. um, it looks exactly like the miracle cloth uh, I'm feeling a repackaging here, let's see, uh, let's see if it says anything, use a soft cloth separately, wow, this is definitely, let's see, let's make this smell, this is the same, so uh now, me. I'll have to see, but it looks like the gorgamite for 1095 is exactly what the miraculous multi-purpose polishing cloth is for 5.99, so ironically I bought both at Stu Mac, so this is our fourth item, we're on our fourth fret again and let's do Sure it's filming like it's supposed to be yeah I see the same reaction I even see I mean I like how they said they cut out two squares that seemed to be really cool okay they feel the same maybe maybe I think the gorgonite was a little. brighter, but I think that's not real.
I think it's like maybe I make it a little harder a little more times, but they seem very, very similar. I would recommend you save four dollars, nothing, oh, sorry, five dollars. Next is the latest lizard spit fret polishing system i am a big fan of lizard spit this is 14.95 so now we are in the 15 range so essentially think about this we are now five times more expensive than Steel wool is three times more expensive than micro cloth, but there is much more in this kit. Obviously you get the actual metal fenders, a microfiber polishing cloth, so again, where would we need to buy one of these or have a polishing cloth for the other things? this is included, they are cut into little squares, they are already little squares, it says remove all the strings, of course, we understand that the rubber polish clips back and forth, uh, 10 to 15 times per fret, okay, fifth fret, so now we're going to use this, oh, this actually has, as you can see, uh, chemical, oh, and just like the others, it's pulling out a lot of black dirt, dirt, oxidation, whatever, it it's shedding, this feels dirtier, a lot dirtier and then we'll use this to clean. this mess i mean i feel like without a doubt this is the brightest threat yeah i would say this is the brightest and maybe the most slick 15 bucks uh it's not a super crazy expensive dunlop this is the collar system of frets 65 this is 16.95 so 17 comes in a nice plastic packaging this is uh this is uh this is a load of rubbish sorry dunlop you know what I'm a big fan of dunlop I mean here's why I'm reacting uh to this um so what We're getting a sheet of 800 grit microfiber, a half sheet and two fret protectors.
These are like musical nomad things. I can already tell you without buying that kit. They have handles that are a little nicer than these. They're a little flimsy, that's not it. it's bad, but 17 it seems like this was a little uh uh, you know, it's a little bit put together, you know what I mean, obviously you can get fret guards from a lot of sources, very inexpensive, so it's just two fret guards that You can get it on Amazon. I already know Micromesh will work well because I use it all the time and I know it will get good results.
We are not talking about the results. In fact, you can see that you have already removed some of the dirt. there I knew I was going to like the results of this, what I'm not crazy about is the 17 and again I bought it where I bought it, maybe you can find it less expensive, I think I bought it at sweetwater. put a link in the description uh, for 17 I'll show you something I like better than this, although when I say better I mean money, these are 3 m sheets. I bought them from Stu Mac. I have used them before you can.
Cut them into smaller squares, this is 15 18. So actually, this is less. I put them up, I made them messy. I apologize for that. I would like to cut them into squares. If it's okay, I'll cut them in half and then. I'm going to cut it in half again and I'm doing it because I really love you and to be honest with you, if you have the scissors to do it, cut them in half again so we have six leaves. see multiples you can see how much we have now we have a lot for this amount of money you will get a ton of polishing kits okay we'll start with the next fret which is right here uh and you You can see the land right there and then you just go in order from the largest to the smallest, maybe four or five passes on each sheet and again, like everything else, when you get these, like I said, rub your rubber thumb or finger over each side, whichever side is rougher is the side that it's going to go towards the fret and last but not least that's the softest one yet for now uh uh and this one was less than the dunlop so I definitely liked it better on the dunlop and it was less than a dunlop so there you have it, hope I don't spoil any more price tags as we only have a couple more to go, this is what I normally wear while watching the channel, which are micro mesh sheets.
I can get a set of these for about 17.95 18 on amazon.com. It's going to start at 15 1800 2400 3200 3600. I just want to make sure that all the sheets are here like they're supposed to be four thousand six thousand eight thousand, which is. This is the exact same blade that Dunlop was giving you, except they had cut it even smaller, as you can see here. That's what Dunlop did: they included this blade and then two fret guards. For me, you could buy this. for eighteen dollars and uh and uh you'll get all the blades including twelve thousand the last one plus this polishing pad or this rubber pad and you can use painter's tape or you can just buy two inexpensive fret guards and again I'm going to use a fret guard. fret again, we'll start with 1500 and this is really if you really want your frets, you know, I mean, we're really going to clean them, you see, you can see what it's doing to the fret guard.
This at 1500 is quite aggressive. This is the most aggressive blade we have seen so far. I always tell everyone that a little goes a long way. You don't need to do much at each fret. What I like about these leaves is that you never see them. like they're working it seems like the fret gets worse and worse until you get to 4000 and then 6000 oh it's getting better once you get to that 8000 thousand twelve thousand it literally turns the frets into glass by looking at them and touching them. I want to say the micro meshes so far are my favorite and then the 3m sheets are my second favorite.
I was actually very impressed with the Music Nomad Fry Fret Polishing Kit for 18.99, so again, this is about the same price as the microfiber pads. One thing about Music Nomad, everything. it packs up really well a couple of things obviously they have the fret polisher for frying so this is like a fret polisher there's a microfiber polishing cloth here this is what I was talking about. I want to show you what I was talking about for a couple of dollars. less, in fact, I want to hit that 16.95 versus 18.95 um again for a couple of dollars to get three of these quality ones with these handles, the included microfiber cloth and you know, something to polish dishes, plus one, you could say the dunlop.
What really disappoints me is Dunlop, so you know, okay, so clean and shine fret polish removes oxidation, no petroleum, uh, clean, smooth frets, okay, uh, instructions, shake it real good, squeeze a small amount on a towel, which I think is meant to work this up and down. along the side, wipe immediately with a clean towel and then polish, okay, so there you go, work back and forth wiping that dish, grab a clean cloth, this definitely liquid gets under the thing, so it's just not necessary. that to clean it just wipe it off and let's see yeah look that's definitely dirty okay I'm really curious are they the same I mean yeah last but I guess not least fret erasers these are from Stu Mac , I think I have mentioned this in a video before this eraser set I bought two years ago.
We will start with 220, then 400 and then 800. From 800 to one hundred 1200 thousand two thousand four thousand four thousand eight thousand. They are easy to use, that's for sure. They are not very dirty, the chemical things have been messier than these things. One thing I will tell you is that I really like nomad music and some of the other things that the lizard spits out. I like dry things over this using liquids. Well again, they go through a couple at a time and I imagine that, just like the micro mesh, it will look rough until we get to the 4000 mark.
Okay, now what I would like to do is rank them from my least favorite to my most favorite and then maybe I'll explain some of the logic of this because it was an interesting process when I was laying this out trying to figure out, you know what I thought of these products? The first thing I want to tell you is that the least expensive product, the steel wool was the least impressive result, but again it cost three four dollars and it was still a very well polished fret, it just wasn't as good as the other products.
My second least favorite was the dunlop again the product did a good job however I feel like for 17 there have been much better products here that worked it's just as good if not better the gummy leaf was really fun because I want to point out that my favorite product was the miracle fabric, the gorgon fabric. The miracle cloth is very obvious to say that it is the same product, so if you find the gorgomite cloth for six dollars, buy it; Otherwise, save five bucks and buy this one. Now I'm a big fan of polishing sheetsd'addario and I recommend them all the time, but in this demo what I learned was the 3m blades, especially the blue 3m blade and the dario blade, they are the same blade, so d'addario is only using the three blue ones or the 3m blue sheets, for six dollars.
You can buy these blue sheets for two dollars and all you'll get is a cardboard cutout like a fret card, so to be honest with you, I would recommend these 3m sheets over the dario unless of course, like I said, seasI'm just going for the easy one, the lizard spit really surprised me, I thought it would work much better, it's a quality product and it works very well and like I said I can recommend it, in fact I could recommend almost all of these products to you, I think they all they did a good job, but for 15 again I think there are better products or at least products that I thought were a little easier and that produced the same result or if not better, then of course we have the fret erasers, now the front erasers are actually nicer.
Initial cost issue, I think they will probably last you the longest of all these products and give you great results. You just have to decide if 50 to 60, especially with shipping, 60 is worth it for you, it's not that. In fact, they are not great, if you are looking for a long-term investment, I think about that 60 because I think it will give you the best results. Music Nomad, the fret protectors are worth their weight in gold, I think It's a great product, the fry polish worked great again, the polishing cloth and polish are fine, it's a good kit and like I said it's for That went well, I think in the long term if you are looking for something. that will give the best results in any situation.
I will continue to use my micromesh sheets, although please note that I cannot find any difference in quality between the micromesh sheets and the front erasers. They're both really good, I just like them. being able to get into every little crevice and corner of the fret with this rubber pad or my own thumb just rubbing it and in the top two categories of course the 3m blades and the miracle cloth, I was really impressed with these, like I said I think that if you're just going to do a dish cleaning type of job, I think these and in fact, if I were to tell you right now, I recommend the average player buy both and buy both as a set, you'll have a way to polish the frets with great detail and a way to keep them clean on that note.
I hope you enjoyed the video, if so please like it and maybe share it and subscribe because that all helps. The channel especially creates content like this, where the content is more informative.
