I feel sympathy for the striking workers, but I also find it incredibly frustrating when there are no alternatives. It affects the audience, but I guess that's the point. Otherwise it wouldn't be a very good strike, it's difficult for someone who takes the train frequently. The transportation department says targeting a holiday weekend was a cynical decision. The government says it has played its role in trying to end this strike by facilitating what it calls fair and reasonable pay offers.
