puzzle boxes like these locks. Of course, none of these come with instructions and I honestly have no idea how to

solve

them, so I hope our expert locksmiths can find the key. - Hello my name is Luis. - Hello, my name is Ricky, I am a professional locksmith, vanilla locksmith. - I started because there were no locksmiths in the area.

They are all quite old, so we are one of the first young locksmiths. I'm really excited to compete with puzzles, I think it will be a lot of fun. - I think I will do amazing in this competition. - First of all, we have Luis and Ricky. What does it take to become a professional locksmith? - You know what, you just apply for a locksmith license and open some locks. Do it for about a year and you'll be a pro. - (Katie) Wow, how do you think your skills will translate in the competition? - I don't think they translate very well.

We are very nervous, but we are ready for the challenge. - I'm fascinated, yes. That guy over there looks like a challenge. -And here we have Brandon and Kendelle. Guys, we are very excited to have you here. You are not professional locksmiths. - No absolutely not. - MMM. Although I have opened doors several times with my keys. - Mm-hmm, that might help. - When I was 10 years old, I learned how to pick a lock and maybe like a week later, I completely forgot about it. - I'm afraid, I'm afraid, but I'm a fan of puzzles. I really think it's going to come down to what's up here. - I believe in these two teams here and let's see who will be our winner in the first round.

In the first round, Brandon will compete with Luis and Kendelle will compete with Ricky. The first people to open their puzzles will advance to the final challenge. But they don't just fight each other, they also fight against the clock, because each of these rounds will be timed. Before moving on to the real competition, we'll warm up with a simple lock puzzle, the Broken Heart. We will give you five minutes to complete them. When I first saw the heart-shaped brass padlock, I was afraid my heart would be broken. - So you think this will be easy enough for you? - No, I'm not going to assume that. Every lock is different, you never know. - I'm just playing with it now, just... This lock is very old. - Any progress? - Am I twisting this wrong? (laughs) I don't understand! - I don't know anything about locks. (Katie laughs) Got it. (bell rings) - Oh, I got it, okay! - I simply put the key in and turned it counterclockwise.

Let's do it again. - I go to all three by accident. - The method I would use if I can't open the lock is to simply break it. - I thought it was going to be easy.

I didn't realize there was a twist. - You're not supposed to insert the whole key, just before the last tooth, and then I shook it to the left and found the little sweet spot, and then this thing came undone. - Now our competitors will compete to see who can finish the six key puzzle lock in less than 20 minutes. Three, two, one. - It's like nothing you've ever seen before, and the keys are locked. And there is no keyhole. I was very confused with the second lock, because it appears to be very solid. -How would you start this?

That doesn't make any sense. - Normally when there is a lock, I grab the grinder and cut it. (Katie laughs) In this case, the method, I'm going to inspect it and see what motivates it. - I'm trying to see where you put a key, but... - I know, right? There is literally no hole! There were literally no holes to go anywhere in the lock. I thought they were fooling us. This isn't a real puzzle, I don't think. It wasn't until I gave it a few rotations that I realized that another one of these keys fit in here, you had to insert both keys together for the lock to come undone. - Then Brandon, you will move on to our final. - Wow, great, okay! Safely. - Ricky, you're going to our final. - Well. - And I can tell you that things are about to get a lot more difficult.
