Powder Coating - Two Tone Wheels

What's going on everyone it's Dan here again with the rim right hey I'm really excited today we have a set of

wheels

that we're doing a two

tone

color change on actually these

wheels

behind me just there are three here because we have already made one of the wheels to send to the customer for approval because we weren't so sure about their color choices, we want to make sure they were correct and so if you notice they are dirty because we have been there sitting forever, it's taken us forever to get approval from the owner, he's been in and out of the hospital so I think he's doing a little better now that he gave us the go ahead to go ahead with these, so after After we removed them and sandblasted them, we immediately primed them to preserve the finish.

If you leave aluminum outside for too long, it will start to rust, which is a kind of protective layer that will develop on it to prevent it from corroding and that's not the case. It's always good to apply a coat of

powder

paint, so first we want to use

powder

paint. I apologize for the air. We're going to go ahead and cover these things in two

tone

s with chrome and Chevy orange, so it's a little bit of an odd combination and that's why we were so nervous at the end of this video you'll see a wheel that has four layers of dust on some of it. areas because then we're going to spray the chrome on top of the primer and then apply the Chevy orange wipe. the areas where we don't want the Lorch and then we're going to clear coat the entire wheel, so let's get started enough.

I thought others don't, so get yourself a really good quality LED flashlight, it's useful, yes, I might totally get them. We cure them because they are not calm and then we will take them out again to give them the orange color, so we just take these chrome wheels out of the oven, as you can see there is a lot of texture on these wheels, which was part of my concern with the owner, but he doesn't seem to care so we're going to let them cool and then the next step is to apply the orange and clean up all the areas that we don't want the orange on so again you want to let them set. until it reaches room temperature so that when you apply the orange color you can clean the areas you don't want it to adhere to.

If you spray them while they're still hot, it could melt in that spot and then you've ruined it, so we'll let them cool and touch it with our finger so that it's a ready wheel. I have two more to do, so we'll let this one stay here and I. I'm going to move and do both wheels there, but we're not going to make you watch this video, it would be very long and that was already a burden, obviously, you have to take a lot of time, a lot of patience at any given time. These lights are really helpful for getting in and making sure there aren't any bits of dust left in there once it's on and up to temperature in Mount Center, so take your time with this step, it's the most important one if you want. a nice finish so we're going to go ahead and order the others to do it and they'll catch up with you for the clear coat after we do a partial base on my release so you can see we now have the two tone paint job.

Ready, we have the chrome on the orange Chevy. Now they don't like doing this. Put the clear coat on top and seal everything. You will see the chrome when it comes out as it will be so shiny which is nice. It's tough, so let's put the clear coat on these wheels and wrap them up for the day. Okay guys, here's the final view with the clear coat. They just came out of the oven, so I'm not going to touch them because they are hot and they turned out pretty. Well, as I said at the beginning, we already made a wheel and sent it to the owner because we wanted to make sure that he was happy with it, number one, the texture because of the casting of the wheel and then, number two, the color combination that In fact, I'm very excited.

I think it looks really cool, so it has a really custom build. These are Chevy wheels, they actually run like a VW Rabbit. I think about all the things.
