I'm going to eat them with a couple different alternatives to syrup and what happened to jam, peanut butter, and I'm also going to make a savory version that was inspired by Kenny's stores and may he rest in peace I would make this at his restaurant and It was pancakes with macaroni and cheese sounds great I've always wanted to try it and today I thought it would be a good opportunity to do it so let's go ahead and make these pancakes so I'm going to need a container so I'm going to go ahead and double this recipe.

A cup of flour. A cup of sugar. These are going to be sweet. So this is it. what sama paz said in her comment they called them eggless crepes because eggs were more expensive, we would have to use powdered milk, we would top them with whatever pantry items we had, jam, gelatin with powdered sugar, sometimes butter peanuts so like some I used some Powdered milk powder I'm going to do the same thing and I haven't had a huge bag of this since I made mozzarella cheese with powdered milk powder. I'm going to put about three teaspoons of that in there.

I'm going to add one. cup of water while I have my iron heated up here. You can do this just in a regular skillet, but I'm using my griddle because I'm going to be cooking several of these at once, so mix them up so now I can see. Why did someone say these are going to be shitty pancakes because this batter is so thin? Use a little oil here and wipe off the excess with a paper towel. It is a very thin dough. It always sounds great, as it always does when you cook pancakes once. you start to see some bubbles starting to look at each other and pop, that's a good indication that they might be ready to flip around the edges as well when you start to see them set up, then you also know it's a good time.

Look, here are the bubbles I'm talking about, so I'm going to turn the heat up a little bit to about 325. So for the one I just poured, I'm going to add some macaroni and cheese right in the middle of this one. To you, Kenny Shops, and I hope you are calm if you haven't seen the documentary about the candy stores. I'll put a link below. It's worth seeing, so from the beginning these pancakes look different. they look a little shinier, a little more plastic and they are also browning a little differently, maybe it's because there is no baking powder in this, so they are definitely thinner than regular pancakes, but they are thicker than the crepes, so I know this is embarrassing. worthy, I'm going to use a metal spatula on this griddle, but this griddle actually comes with a metal spatula, so I think it can handle it.
These pancakes are so thin that they need something thin to flip them. Well, here we go, there's the pancake, interesting. Lastly, our macaroni and cheese gives you a mush, they definitely have a different consistency than a typical ihop style pancake or bisquick style pancake and they are not as brown, they are thinner and when I flip them they feel a little more chewy, it's okay so let's try our poor man's pancake let's try them plain first before adding anything oh they feel pretty crispy look at that wow that's a lot they're crispy can you hear that's what they look like on the background? okay let's try it, itadakimasu, they have a very nice crispy texture, slightly chewy in the middle, definitely different than the typical pancake house style pancakes, they are not that fluffy at all, not surprising because there is no yeast, there is a little bit of mass. chew on them, but they have a nice kind of caramelized crunch, they're very sweet, they don't really need any syrup, there's a lot of sweetness in terms of flavor, they taste a lot like a fortune cookie, that level of sweetness. kind of a fortune cookie with a caramelized sugary taste, but it's missing a little bit of butter, but it's actually not bad, it's very sweet, so I wouldn't add any syrup to this, but yeah, they're pretty good and definitely a lot Sweeter than a French.
The crepe also has a thicker texture and doesn't really need any syrup because it is so sweet. That said, now I'm going to try it with a little bit of peanut butter because that was sama's recommendation, so take some peanut butter and add a little bit of peanut butter. here and I'm also going to add some strawberry jelly, make me that song, peanut butter and jelly, that's what I like in my belly, that's great, the creamy peanut butter adds a ton of flavor, the jelly It adds a little more sweetness and fruity flavor, delicious. Mmm, a little powdered sugar is also recommended, so let me take that, here we go.
I don't think this is going to be much tastier, it's just more visually appealing and will be sweeter. I figure here we go, it's actually not noticeably sweeter. It's very nice now, let's try Kenny's stores and especially the macaroni and cheese pancakes, so here's the flipped pancake and there's the macaroni and cheese, which doesn't work so well, although it has to be said that I'm not a huge macaroni . and a fan of cheese, so right off the bat I think the biggest problem I have with this is the texture, the macaroni and cheese is a little rubbery and the pancake is also a little rubbery, a little crunchy, it's just not as tasty, I do not do it.
I don't think macaroni and cheese really adds much more to this than just a little extra carbs. Oh, I bet if I put some grated fresh cheese on it, that would take this somewhere other than adding carbs, I don't think macaroni. and cheese in this case with this particular recipe and without any additional cheese it adds a lot of course Kenny I think I would have done this differently I would have used a different dough and of course different macaroni and cheese but just out of curiosity I wanted to see what would happen, but yeah, that's not my favorite.
I think hands down my favorite combination with this particular pancake is the peanut butter and jelly, so good that I think peanut butter and jelly would actually be good with any type of pancake, it's great. combination of richness and fruity sweetness, I think if I were to make this recipe again I would definitely cut back on the sugar, maybe use half the amount, but I think in this current state of one to one ratio the kids would love it, it's great. sweet, you don't need any syrup because it's very sweet and in terms of flavor it tastes a lot like a fortune cookie, so there you have it, poor man's pancakes.
