PART ONE: Confronting a Racist

PART ONE: Confronting a Racist
when we talk about solutions to ending injustice we often talk about allies right and we're always saying how important they are to stand up for those who are being persecuted well this is a perfect example of that recently a video went viral of a man who was on a bus and he reportedly heard a woman passenger telling to other Asian passengers to speak English now this video has actually gone viral and it's been seen more than five million times check it out because they're not

talking to you exactly you should just mind your business really yes it is and you should learn the definition of it and not to show your ass in public again the flooding so many people applauded this man for standing up for what seems to be injustice and this woman and they were saying that this is the type of energy that we need to keep up to come against this kind of ignorance so what do you guys think about it I just want to make it very clear that it absolutely is

racist

to try to get
people to speak a language so you can understand you tell them they have to speak English for you there's a reason why mama my Papa my we're all able to get their citizenship in Vietnamese it's available in every language so you don't have to speak English to be from me and I think Native Americans have their own language but I I love that he was an ally I love that he spoke up I do understand that there was tension like I wonder if that conversation could have been different
instead of you know and we don't know what happened right before they are escalated to that and I think I hope the message was made clear I wonder if there wasn't anger and her you know at going into defense and victim mode of like you're harassing me now oh my god look what you're doing like I wonder if she got the message of like what you were doing was very hurtful these people were speaking in their language they have the right to be citizens they have the right to be in

America and what you did was harassing them yeah yeah there are so many people that don't recognize and more than anything they aren't empathetic to the immigrant experience imagine if we decided let's say you had to go to another country for opportunity whatever the case may be and you don't speak their language and now you have to submerse yourself into their situation you don't know if these people are trying to learn you don't know what their story is therefore I
agree with them just mind your business they weren't talking to you and more than that like why would you say you need to speak English no they don't need to do anything like again mind your business I think people are so insensitive to the immigrant experience they really are and in speak of mind your business wow that guy speaking up he didn't mind his own business and I thought that's also goals and important we have to do that that's our job I'm calling today when
there's nothing going on that Bob and father and baby I always say we are each other's business when we look out for each other we lift each other up that's Wario and people wonder why I talk about race all the time because it's happening all the time like they're on a bus having a private conversation and all of a sudden racism is like haha so I just really think this is a great example though of really showing how like in this

part

icular situation this was a white woman and
part one confronting a racist
it needed to be like another white person stepping in saying like let me check you yeah because there is something to be said for like being able to look at someone who looks like yourself and be like oh well they're saying this is wrong like so you were saying maybe she hopes you you hope that she's grass got the point I feel like him saying it would be the best choice yeah and the best option I feel like people like this they say this publicly because they feel that they can get away
with it they don't realize the privilege that they have and even saying that I think so the more people we have standing up for these people being persecuted I think we can stop these people from from from from doing these crazy things yes it's okay to check them they like feel about what they don't encourage you to speak up more spurts say that when you're

you should first of all make sure that you're safe make sure that you don't see any type of
weapons or whatever
