I still wouldn't want to pay... - It's $4.99 for a package. - So keep them in mind, but there are others. - I don't think I need any more of these because I already have those other Home Goods houses. Well, this is the jackpot section we need to be in.

I have all the jars, containers and such. We need the jars with lids. This has no covers. How do you open it? Uh oh. - The bamboo ones are kind of cute, but... - Yes. $3 - I don't like that... - Two packages for how much? $2.99? - Okay, I'm saying get 12 of these and we'll dump your spices in there and then we'll label them. - Well. Oh, those are the jars with lids. Okay, so six of these to make 12, or how many, how many spices, because I also want to go

shop

ping, or I like to

shop

in the pantry to get, you know, as a chef, how many spices? - I mean, basic spices, 12 to 15, and you have about 12 and you have all the basic things.

Is this economical when you buy six of these? - I mean, could Amazon have a bulk package? - They don't even have shakers. - Oh that's not good. - I mean, I don't really use my shakers, I use a measuring spoon, but... - I use a shaker. And this type of closure is annoying. I can imagine breaking nails with this. In any case, I would stick with the classics with small covers like this one. Different sizes, like this could be for spaghetti and then another type of pasta, penne pasta. They are cute with the bamboo lids and cost like $3. $3 - $4.
It's definitely prettier than the typical plastic tupperware with a tight seal and a red or blue lid. It's about the aesthetics. - So what do you call it? Earth friendly? - Environmentally friendly? - Ecological because they are made of bamboo-- - Not plastic. - And glass. It will not discolor like plastic will. - Like when you have a plastic thing and you have that strange grease mark that doesn't go away. - Red spaghetti sauce. (calm music) So now we're at Costco. I came to pick up some bulk items for the pantry, but also my mom is buying me a housewarming gift, a new set of pots and pans. - Wow! - I needed a hose, some basic necessities.
Oh, I need a blender. - This is a Ninja 1000 but you can too, we're also going to Bed Bath & Beyond. - Yes, okay, let's wait. Now we are in bed, the bath and the afterlife. We've been going here and there and everywhere trying to find the perfect things... - At the perfect price. - I save money, work hard. You have to go here, there, everywhere. Go to all the stores, compare prices. Well, if it's not the right price, go and drive there. When you save money on the item, you will have spent all your money on gas.
Hopefully this is the last place we have to go. - No, it's not? Oh yeah, we have to go to The Container Store. I forgot we hadn't even gone there yet. Well, this is the second to last place. - We need a blender. - Blender, knife set and maybe some containers they have here. I was going to buy a new Keurig because I don't like blue because of the color, but then I thought, my mom has a black Keurig, so what if I trade it with my mom, because I need a black one? to go with my aesthetic.
Oh, here's a Vitamix. This is like a big smoothie shop. This is like... - I would say that before buying the Vitamix, I would buy the blender. - Oh, I'll just look at the blender. You said don't get the one that comes in a block, why? - I mean, like a step up from what you're using. - I have like two knives from Walmart, that's all, but if it's going to be a block it has to match, so I prefer light colored wood. I just need something basic, like this one that costs $59. - I mean, you know, if you hate it, you can get more knives next year. - Salt 18 pieces.
I mean it looks decent. These are the O-X-O, OXO containers that my mom recommends for pantry items. $100, that's $10 a piece. - Look at this, they want 21 dollars just for this. - I mean, I feel like I could use the full 10-piece set. - Ah, there you have it. - Yes, $99.99. Last stop: The Container Store. This is where I'm going to spend a lot of money, but this is where they got everything. Oohh look, look how satisfying this store is. Very pretty. So I keep looking for baskets. Like normal baskets and wire baskets. Oh, these are actually cheaper. - And this is $9.74. - There are cheaper ones and they are on sale.
And then I need spice jars, a spice rack. - I would say, like, packets of chips. - These are $16. This is the perfect size. Now I thought The Container Store was going to have a ton of everything I needed, but maybe I'm too picky. Look, Virgo problems. I have an exact vision in my head of what I want. The exact color, the size, the texture, everything, and then I try to go to the store to look for it and it's like it doesn't exist. Damn. - Do you like these? - Yes, I say get two of those, or three. - Three. - Okay, so far I'm finding a few things.
Baskets, clear containers, some jars down there. I already have a basket full of things that are probably worth about $200. These things are very expensive. I mean, I guess it's, I don't know, that's what this costs, but everything is like $12 each, $20 each, so yeah, it's not cheap. She filled an entire basket and more things overflowing. I'm afraid to see what the total will be, but I think we have it all now. Well, finally home and done with the day's shopping. That took a lot more work and a lot more time than he expected. It's almost nine at night right now.
I came home, had dinner, unloaded all the things I bought. Here's a quick overview of everything I bought, so we went to Ikea, Bed Bath & Beyond, T.J. Maxx but did not end up attacking T.J. Maxx and Container Store. But I feel like $200 at each of the four places. Like I spent a lot more money than I expected to spend, but it's because I wasn't really trying to get the cheapest. Obviously I didn't go to the Dollar Store or anything like that, but that's because I really had a specific style that I was going for and my mom had specific recommendations for what types of containers are really best for storing food. so I ended up spending a lot of money.
But at the same time, I also bought a few extra things that aren't necessarily for the pantry, but I still bought a bunch of baskets, jars, a lazy Susan, containers like this one, glass jars like this one with bamboo lids, turntable of wood, more baskets, drawer liners, kitchen things to store in drawers, more glass containers with bamboo lids. I also bought some paper towels in bulk at Costco, dishwasher supplies in bulk, my mom bought me this pot and pan set, and fruit snacks in bulk. Costco had sheets for a good price, so I bought sheets for my king size bed, two sets.
Wire baskets, more containers, more glass containers with bamboo lids and more glass jars. These two glass jars and I forgot I also bought my knife set at Bed Bath & Beyond. Oh, and I completely forgot about the damn $100 plastic container set. That definitely increased today's overall spend as well. But at the same time, I still didn't get everything I needed because I didn't need to get the spice jar or spice rack situation. I think I'll have to order them on Amazon and I didn't receive a blender, I don't have a blender, I need one of those. But we're already halfway through this project, so we'll keep going and in the end everything will look good.
So I'll see you tomorrow. Well, it's the second day and now it's time to start getting

organize

d. So my mom is here to help and of course I'm going to ask my mom to help me, in case you're wondering, because my mom is not only a person who cooks and cooks, so she knows about items kitchen and other things, but he is also an organizer type person. Label Making... - Organizing Queen! - Organizer queen, excuse me. Step one. - I think we should move all this, clean everything out, and since your pantry is so big, we don't need to take it out.
We'll just move it to the side and then place the containers where you think they look best and then label each container with what you think you're going to put in them. - So since the pantry has all sides, for now I just plan to install this back wall and not really worry about the sides. I mean, we'll see how it ends up being, but I'm pretty sure I'll barely have enough to fill this back wall anyway. (upbeat music) Okay, now we're temporarily labeling what we think we'll use each container for. Obviously, some of them are more obvious, like this one is for spaghetti, but this one is like rice, flour, sugar, that's going to be brown sugar.
Just to get an idea of how this will go, hey! So we are doing this first to get an idea and make sure we have the right containers for everything and what it will look like because you may need to order more things from Amazon. Well, for example, granola bars... - Like, for example, I had bags of chips like that. Bagged things could enter there. I think they should stay on the bottom row. This, regardless of what you decide to put there, should remain on the bottom row. With the snacks I buy for Zya, they will both be full of snacks, and this needs a basket. - Okay, after organizing a little and seeing what I want to put in each container.
Of course, we've realized that I'm missing some containers, so I have some things that I just don't, like we didn't buy a basket, we didn't buy enough baskets, we didn't buy enough jars. I felt like I had bought so many things. I thought, I really thought I was going to have too many containers, but I'm missing a few, so I definitely think I need at least one or two more of these smaller baskets. You might need another one of these for snacks. I definitely need one or two of these smaller ones as a snack. I need something that can hold up well canned.
Like some sort of small stackable shelf, or a basket or something for canned goods. A couple more containers for things I didn't think of. I have a lot of tea bags and these little emergency packets that need a container. My fancy new set of pots my mom bought me. This is basically what I had from my old computer. (upbeat music) Well, I ordered some of the extra containers I still needed from Amazon, so I'm waiting for them to arrive, but my mom just made another trip to The Container Store to get more of these baskets. So we have a good amount of things to work with.
Right now I feel like we could start filling it with food and start organizing it how we want it to look on the shelves and then we have to make labels for these things. (upbeat music) So for all the containers that I'm actually going to put in like food, like loose food. For example, packaged food doesn't matter, but flour, sugar and things like that, always make sure you wash the containers before putting food in them. (light music) I think it's already day three of this project and right now we're at the step of creating custom labels and you know we were going to launch the Cricut machine.
So my mom brought the Cricut machine, she hooked it up to the computer here and this is the source. So print it on this black vinyl. I decided to go with black lettering instead of white just because I feel like on most bottles black will look better. (energetic music) So we got them from The Container Store. They are specially made to go in baskets. They're like little paperclips like this, like this, and you can write on them with chalk or a whiteboard marker, or I'm trying to decide if I want to do this with white and print them out and stick them onhere. , but then you won't be able to change it that easily if you want to change it.
So I bought some pantry foods, the essentials, to keep me going, fill all my new containers, and stock up on everything I would normally use. Small and fast grocery transport. I bought some spices for my new spice jars just from the bulk spice section, just to get the exact amount I needed of any additional spices or refills of what I already had here. I had a decent assortment of random spices from different brands, but I just wanted to fill them into the pretty new jars. I also plan on cooking a lot more in this new house with my new kitchen, so I just wanted to stock up on a few more things that maybe I haven't normally used, but really want to start using.
Brown sugar, powdered sugar. Stock up on more rice, rice and jasmine rice. Got regular white sugar, flour, again, to fill the jars, gluten-free spaghetti, vegetarian spaghetti. I bought Zya more cups of macaroni and cheese. Apple, strawberry and regular sauce packs. He uses them for his lunch at school. A few cups of oatmeal that I always have for breakfast. I needed more baking powder. And then just a bunch of canned goods. Again, to stock up. I don't necessarily have plans in my head for specific recipes I'm going to make this week to use up all of these things, but since they're non-perishable pantry items, you might as well stock up on a few different types. have on hand.
I've got some russet potatoes for the potato bin and some onions for the onion bin, some little bags of chips and popcorn, and some little bags of Goldfish, so I'm going to go ahead and put these things away and then we'll put away the finishing touches throughout the tagged and then we should be done! Oh, and I have water bottles to stock this basket. OMG this is so satisfying! A pack of 24 water bottles fits perfectly in this basket. These are the things that bring me joy in life. (upbeat music) So I cleaned out my kitchen and put away all my new items, and now it's time for the final pantry reveal. (energetic music)
