NEW TaylorMade Stealth drivers (FULL REVIEW)Jan 04, 2022
driversare dead according to the guys at
taylormadeso it hasn't been a big secret that
taylormadehas a new driver this year with a bright red face also tiger woods used it at the end of the year and there have been many leaks on the internet but in this video I'm going to give you my honest take on the new custom made Stealth controllers so before we start talking about what's new with these custom made controllers let's take a walk down memory lane back in the day when the forests were wood. that's how they started that's where the name really came from one was three woods etc. then that became the steel age the heads got a little bigger the distances went up a little more after it was the titanium age this is where we saw the 460cc head sizes this is where the sound of the clubs Golf changes massively and this is where we are now however custom made now claims we are entering the carbon age we have seen carbon features on clubs before yes on the top on the bottom but now taylormade they're experimenting with carbon on the face now this has been done before and i'll get to that in a bit but let's talk about why they think it's better so on this face it's not just red just so it can stand out more it's 60 layers of carbon fiber placed on top of each other and the idea that it takes weight off the face so they can distribute it around the back of the clubhead, so how did I get this? explained imagine a car traveling on a highway and it hits a wall obviously there is going to be a collision level there now imagine the same scenario but this time the trunk or trunk for you guys hear in america is
fullof bricks when that same car hits the wall the collision is going to be higher so if I were to translate that into a golf club design effectively we have more weight in the trunk than in the trunk so when this club facing the front of the car hits the golf ball, you will have more impact, more ball speed, more distance. e that's the theory taylormade has also implemented nano texture now sure enough the face is a little rougher than the normal titanium face but it also has this kind of softer almost rubber like material on the face now taylormade states again that that will help performance in dry and wet conditions because it will help manage the spin characteristics of the golf ball not sure how much I believe in that because usually obviously when you use the driver you have taken the ball out of his pocket and put it on a tpeg and it doesn't really have a chance to get wet let's be honest but it's another story Taylor Made are obviously implementing this driver and this carbon face still features a crooked face a shape in fact as it slightly changes the shape of the face to help you. hit more fairways off the off-center tips here's what taylormade claims - i've tried the rotating face in the past and it works a bit, it's not a game changer and certainly not a magic wand, this clubface doesn't need to be either list like there's no reason for it because it's a marketing story when you see all the taylormade players playing this year i mean it's so recognizable i wasn't sure at first but i have to admit when you put the stick behind the ball you see a red face slide off I guess if you use a lot more loft you'll see a little more but it's not really that noticeable once it's behind the ball and we're not done with the story yet Of the technology, as we've seen in Simulator and Simulator 2, Stealth also features this asymmetric inertia generator.
You can state that when you start to swing the golf club on the way down, you maximize clubhead speed and also accelerate the pocket behind the face. We have seen this custom made in the past. of baja s trikes and finally there are three head models for Stealth this one in my hand which is just a standard Stealth model no adjustable weights that's how it comes then you have Stealth Plus which has a slider bar on the front of the face. what you imagine is going to be a slightly lower turn. Find out in this
reviewif it reminds me a lot of the slider they had on the sldr, one of the longest controllers they've ever made.
Finally there's a
stealthhd hd which means a big draw for you you might want a little more help now before I dive into how I did with these clubs on the golf course and also data gathering I really wanted to talk about the look because this year this is a nice looking golf club it's like you look past the red face because I think it's not going to be to everyone's taste as such but as I mentioned you don't really see it behind the ball I'm actually a big fan of the color scheme it's kind of my logo my logo on my rs I like the black crown they're really good you've got carbon on the crown there's still kind of the shiny section of thinner lipstick around the front again i think it looks really nice and even the colors in the back i kind of like the
stealthy black look and you also have these little hints of red.
I must admit the first time I saw this controller and still now has some hints of Nike when Nike was doing something undercover.
driversit looks a bit like that so for all that tech what you custom made will charge you well each driver will cost £499 so they are quite expensive which is really interesting taylormade has really done this guy line in the sand for let's say from this point on carbon is the way and they reckon it took 20 years to get to this point with the clubface this isn't the first carbon faced driver we've seen back in 2001 some of you may remember this driver the callaway c4 driver which had a carbon crown a carbon face with some sort of steel bottom this just happened to be introduced 20 years ago i wonder if this driver sparked the thinking behind 20 years ago made to measure starting to think about carbon now let's be honest though in that time period we haven't seen carbon on the face before is it a good thing or a bad thing well we find out we came out in the field d e golf and wanted to crush both drivers, so I found that in recent years there is not a huge difference. between the two models custom made normally have ie sim2 and sim2 max so i wanted to push stealth and stealth more to find out what i saw so on the golf course i was impressed i really liked the flight of the golf shots I couldn't tell I was preferring one or the other they both felt very similar the only difference I could see is that stealth gave me a little more forgiveness on those off-center hits however stealth plus definitely helped me gave a bit more distance but it's not like a forgiving sound this is really interesting to share they actually sound quite different to me the stealth had that little bit more dead than satisfying noise where the stealth plus just didn't sound so good, it was hard for me to pinpoint exactly why there were a few times where i completely squashed it and look at the flight and think it's an amazing shot, but i didn't get that positive feedback about the hit, the feel of the face or Sound? and those two are very closely tied overall i wasn't disappointed and honestly behind the golf ball i think these two drivers are some of the best drivers i've ever seen so it was time to test it out in some gc tests quad pro v1 torx and I also ran the sim 2 last year to see if there's much of a difference between the titanium face and the carbon face, so the stealth and stealth plus numbers were interesting.
He was finding stealth which he was probably enjoying. month t just for that a little more sorry i wore that driver and normally i wear drivers around 280 i wore that stealthy driver exactly 280 on average i found my longs weren't ridiculously long that's ok because i found my short they weren't too bad either, nor Spin numbers he was getting a little over 2,000 and around 156 miles per hour. The ball speed isn't my fastest ball speed, but I found the launch to spin ratio to be good, hence it's getting somewhat decent. distance then stealth plus I found this driver to be a fraction longer on good shots and I can only chalk it up to the lower spin because that weight goes a little further forward. some comfortably in the mid 290 which is pretty good for me but the downside is when I didn't hit it quite as well I found the sag to be much lower on a sort of low 270 even at the high turn rate out of 260 with th The Stealth Plus was 1800 and again a similar ball speed of 156 mph and you know what, just a quick one in case any of you have any concerns after all the testing I did.
I didn't see any noticeable damage to the carbon face. and i
fully believe that taylormade has done some extensive testing to make sure that this face can take ridiculous amounts of golf shots, so from those findings, could you categorically say that the carbon faces were still faster as well that I decided to get the old sim 2 from taylormade? last year's controller put the same shaft in the head it had almost exactly the same spec in the sim 2 i was finding i was taking the golf ball exactly 280 yards i found the swing speed a bit higher on 2 and the la The ball speed should be about the same, if not a bit faster, so while these two drivers and the stealth drivers performed very well, I certainly can't categorically say they were better than the Last year on the titanium face almost exactly the same performance across the board but you could see the Stealth Plus went four more yards but four yards is really interesting because obviously I'm human a lot of that will be up to me how do i hit where i hit it in the face etc. so could i sit here and say categorically that the stealth driver is longer and faster than last year's model? for yourself, but there is one thing that could definitely say that these cockpit faces are no worse than titanium drivers. a new controller because hey you're a big fan of Tiger Woods and be your big fan of tailgate well you couldn't go much wrong with these controllers they look fantastic they seem to work brilliantly however they are super expensive don't expect them to be seeing 20 30 yards of di stance wins but i don't think they'll be disappointed if they put one of these on the back guys thanks for looking stay tuned there will be a lot more to come see ya next time.
