install

ed the Nest. store along with the Nest Cam IQ in

door

cameras, but I also have out

door

cameras. If you want to see that video, I'll put a link up here, but this one will be for the

These are very high quality products and I like them, so I'm going to unpack this, do the

install

ation and setup of the app, so let's get a good look at it, so let's open this up, so the first thing you'll see here is "Let's get started." , which shows you the process, but let's put that aside, so let's see what's in this. box so inside this box we go to the

nest

configuration okay so this is going to be the

nest

connection so let's connect the nuts they give me one in the box that is if you don't have a nest protector that I already have it, you can connect it directly through the protector, if you don't have a protector you will need this to connect to the app, so it's great that they give you one of those and put it back in next.

More Interesting Facts About,

nest door lock unboxing install...

I guess it's a lock. yeah so let's take this out of the box okay this is the last thing in the box yeah okay here's the lock itself more documentation and it won't be there we'll take it out so this will be the outside actual lock and This is what the back looks like once I go out and remove the lock, this will fit perfectly into the existing hole, at least that's the plan, oh great, they actually give you four Duracell batteries, that's fantastic. Wow, usually just get your own batteries. that's cool and the back of the lock right here so there's going to be the back of the lock that's going to be inside your house and that's going to come through and connect like this so oh yeah very cool okay and then I I guess this is going to be the bolt inside here, yeah, this is going to be the bolt and all the screws that we need.

This will be the key for the battery plate that comes out of there. The battery goes there and the bolt itself now too. I have this now they say I should use their board included here. I'm going to see that I should probably use your inclusion. They said if you don't use this plate it might get stuck while locking so I'm just going to use all the Includes stuff and then all the screws along the speed. My next step is to go to my door, take it off and you don't need to see it, but I'll show you how I set everything up outside too before I leave. documentation, they have brackets that, if the actual hole in your door doesn't match, give you the dimensions of what it should be.

It looks like we need a drill, a pencil, a chisel, a tape measure, a knife and a level. I guess with a screwdriver, I guess I won't need any of that except the drill and maybe the level, but let's go to my door and see if I do it right or not, so I took out my existing lock. I was six years old and it was one of those that actually has one of these little button codes that just stopped working, so one is basically toast, that's why I decided to use this nest, as you can see, I got rid of that, Yeah.
It looks like the first thing we do is put the bolt in and it just says up here so that's the way to do it so I can push it right in here so it looks like it fits pretty well and gives us some. screws for that will be four of them, two for that and then two for - the little strike plate itself is nice and then let's put the strike plate well it fits in there pretty well and I'll use the included screws, the long ones they gave me perfect, so now after we put the bolt in there you can see that it's horizontal so that's very important so you just had to make sure that it says up here that it's horizontal and now we can add that.
In fact, we can add the front piece that is here. I'm just going to stick it across the door and make sure it goes through the bottom here. Well, this is what it looks like on my door. Okay, it looks super pretty on the outside, huh? Yes, and I will. just snow here, I live near Buffalo so that's through the door so you gotta hold it tight there we go now what we need to do is take the back piece, the back plate, remove one mounting plate from the back, here comes the mounting clay. right on the back and then we remove the battery cover, we remove the battery cover by simply taking the key and pressing the top hole down, here it comes out, we're going to run the cable through the hole at the bottom, here on the right. go through and line up the holes here they should go straight in, yeah, perfect, two little holes fit in the front here, okay and then all we have to do is screw them in, maybe these gold ones here.
I want to try using these gold ones. ones to tighten the bracket towards the front, yeah, so don't tighten this yet until it's level, so I'm going to tighten it by hand first, so yeah, those were the gold ones. I assume they are all the same size you just had. To choose the right length for your door, if you have a thicker door you can use the longer silver ones, they have a middle one that is black and the short ones, which were gold, and the short ones seem to work pretty well with my door. so just screw them in because now what I want to do is level and make sure it's level before I tighten it so I've got my little boat leveled here, I just want to make sure it's level before I tighten anything and that looks pretty good there.
So now I can tighten those bolts really nice, so the next step is going to be to connect the cable back here, so the cable that's hanging here has to go right here, so connect that and then we can connect the actual cable. back plate to the door so let's do it now okay I got hit I had it backwards okay those little brackets there to make some little tabs here so you can't put it in the wrong way so okay and then once this is done. Just run the cable along some little wires here, okay, so it's there like this and then I'm going to test it, yeah, there you see, blocking everything.
I don't have much space here, sorry. guys, but here we go, now that it's done, there's a little hole here and a hole here where I can attach this back plate to the front plate. Sorry, this back plate here to the actual mounting plate, so let's do it now. The screws are super small, the ones they want you to put into the bracket, so you can't mess this up. There are only two screw holes here, so let's go there. Okay, it looks pretty good, so the next step is to put in the batteries. and like I said before it's awesome they included four Duracell batteries and four press the Yale logo to get started so they want you to pick a code this is the master code once they create a code for each individual person okay it's okay, guys.
As you can see, it wasn't a very difficult process to make the axe, the bolt, the strike plate fit perfectly, so now what I'm doing is I open up my Nest app and once I have the Nest step, I have this. configured for my house. I have all my cameras here. I have four cameras, that's why I said you can have an S connection or the nest protector itself if you don't have an S protector, which is the alarm system they included. Can you know how to collect? Connect directly to a Wi-Fi network and connect to the app.
So I'm going to do this and connect directly to the guard. The first thing you need to do is tap a small wheel in the corner and add a small gear. product that's there, so let's press add product and what I want you to do is scan like any other Nest product. Here I'm back in the app, so what I'm going to do is just scan it, well, you've done that before. I can even zoom in on the camera so it's that easy, it's right there on the battery cover, let's go back, but let's go next, where are you going to put the nest lock that's going to be the front door?
So on the front door, it installs the lock and gives you a setup guide, but I already did that, so let's move on to the next thing. What does this? Helping the input of the product to connect, so I say, connecting, okay, done, press and hold the button that is located on the back of your lock, oh my goodness, I'll be back. to the lock, okay, let's go okay, here I am back at the lock, it tells me to press and hold this, okay, now it says entry, more settings, okay, finishing adding to the Nest account.
I just heard the lock say it was added to my Nest account very cool boom there it is added to your Nest account so press next and what does it say using your existing Nest passcode you won't need the one you chose on the lock , ok, grant unique access codes to each family member. Create guest. passcodes and schedules, the Nest app will show who uses your passcode and the wind, so I'm going to say change my passcode, that's great to be able to add a person. We have sent an email to everyone in your family account to let you know. are new, what is the new access code, you can also add another family member or guests who may need it, how cool, okay, now it just says done, done, again, ok, so it looks like everything is set up fine , on the bottom. there's a new box that says entry, am I sure if you can see that at the bottom here it says entry, so if I press that wow, okay, I just LOX, I heard it Wow and then I press this again, oh if you wait?
I just unblocked Bing, great. Okay, this is pretty easy. Nest products. You know they have it set up. All you have to do is scan the product directly into the app and once you have the app, you can add everything. I mean, you can see I have. my two motion detectors my four cameras my nest protector and now my nest lock all in the same app so they condense everything to make it much easier for everyone to have it. I love it guys, that's it for this video.
