NASCAR DRIVERS REACT TO SHANE VAN GISBERGEN WINNING THE CHICAGO STREET RACE

It was really fun to see for my eyes, you know, it was uh, when it got to my rear bumper, I felt like I had rebuilt a really good section and I thought for sure I was going to look in the mirror and it was going to be like two car links or something like that. in the front and he was right up against my rear bumper. I was like holy shit, this guy is flying so he was able to get by me and then, you know, I have to watch the show. I followed him and the moves he was making uh really everywhere he could pass anywhere um but the moves he could make in two uh were really interesting to watch and then the pass we had to lead I thought was his battle for the lead was great, you know, he made his move in two, Justin was able to get a good exit and, you know, squeeze inside him, I thought, man, he'll be able to fight him here for a little longer and, um, he.

He just did a super aggressive attitude, you know, Lane switched back to his right side, it was just sick, it was unbelievable, so he put on a show and it was great to see and I think with a guy like that he can come. and uh you'll kick your ass at your own game that shows that you know we all have room for improvement and I'm curious to know what he thinks about us you know he obviously outperformed a lot of us so I'm curious to know if he thinks we all suck or if we could really know how to compete, you know, if we weren't so bad, but we come from, you know, a different background than him, but it was cool to see and I hope the fans enjoyed it, congratulations to him and the team and Justin Marks, that was really cool to see, it was kind of the first risk reward, but as always, people who do a better job than others tend to find their way to the front.

You saw that today with Shane, you know he was in his own league and you know, in my opinion, he put on a really important clinic and, um, I don't want to speak for everyone else, but he made me look bad. And I think the rest of us do too, but I'm looking forward to going to work and trying to be better. Justin, you heard Kyle sit there and explain what he saw behind you and Shane when you had the little battle on the road. back stretch run it through your head again what you were thinking you know how you did it it wasn't much it wasn't a big battle um you know it was just you trying to do everything you could and um I was I really had a hard time getting to turn four , like I said, that's where I crashed yesterday and our car was really hard in the braking zone and I was really struggling there and, you know, trying to adjust my brake bias to be better there and I just could.

It's not like that, his car was softer there and Cal broke me and, you know, I don't feel like he pulled away from me, you know, I feel like I held my own there on the greenway, especially Checker, but, you know, it was that he just, you know, he just needs that five-car link-up, Gap, knowing that, you know, it was his

to lose, so yeah, like I said, I mean, you know, as a driver, you don't want anybody, you don't want to others. I know forms of motorsports

who come in and play at their own game, like Kyle said, but unfortunately he's really good and this was my first

and I can't imagine how many he's done, so you know, I've got nothing wrong with him. . to say when you knew towards the end of that race that you could win the race and then tell me about that battle with Justin Haley at the end where everyone was going back and forth and they turned four five six, yeah, when I started to catch him.

I actually put a move on him at seven right when the yellow card came out, so that's when I thought I knew he was going to be okay because he didn't defend as hard as I thought he would, but yeah, after that restart, it was a good battle. and out of turn two, I probably could have closed them more aggressively, but I didn't have the mirror set up well enough on that side to let him pass, but I saw that when I was catching him he was a little weak. turn four broke so I just left it and then crossed to the inside but that was probably one of the strengths of my car, it was breaking down there and yeah it was awesome to race against it and the guys told me it probably It would be aggressive. on reboots he doesn't.

I don't think he's caught up in the chase, they said, so yeah, I tried to get a good jump into the last corner to make a gap in turn one. Kyle, you're twice.
