MY SUNDAY ROUTINE AS A STAY AT HOME MOM OF A LARGE FAMILY Meal Plan, Clean + Prep

Jun 06, 2021
Hello guys, welcome back to my channel. I'm Angela Braniff and today I'm going to walk you through my Sunday

routine

, the things I normally try to do on Sundays. Now there are two number one reasons why I get asked a lot. I don't know how you do it all, how you do all the things that you do and I never want to perpetuate the idea that there is such a thing as a superwoman or a supermom or any of those things, so I really want to break it down and show you how things are done, how things get accomplished in my house and in our

family

, yes, I have a lot on my plate between work and

home

schooling and all that, and having eight kids, there's a lot going on, but I also have a wonderful husband , my kids are very helpful and that, along with the celebration of being busy, I feel like our culture is very interested in being busy and productivity, and while those things aren't inherently bad, I think that's especially true for moms. and mothers with small children.

For kids, it can be very damaging to believe that we need to be at this high capacity, wow, wow, wow, all the time, so I want to show it to you on Sundays because it's one of the ways I can

home

school my kids and work. . basically full time and you know, doing all these things is through

prep

aration, it's through

prep

aration in advance for certain things, so Sunday is my day to prepare for the next week. Now this Sunday looks a little different because it was daylight saving time. and we all fall asleep, so we usually go to the 9 a.m. church service. and then we take our daughters, our two oldest, and we drop them off at horse riding lessons at 11:30 and then we come home, however this week we don't get to church because daylight saving time is all I can say is brutal, it's brutal, so my husband just took the two older girls off his horse and took our six-month-old daughter and two-year-old twin girls with him so I could To begin with, I don't have anyone under my feet, so I'm going to explain everything I do on Sundays, from housework to preparing for home school and all that kind of stuff, and the first thing I do is make a list.

More Interesting Facts About,

To-do lists are the best thing I have never done. They keep me focused to give me this visual representation of how much I've done so far and how much I have left to do. I love checking those boxes when I have something. There, I love a good to-do list, it's a good thing, you should definitely try it if you're not working off the to-do list, so I'll make a to-do list and then we'll get started. especially the Sunday stuff, if you enjoy this type of content, don't forget to subscribe to my channel and like this video, maybe they'll show you the way if you think you know what I like.

I like what you are posting. I'm here for this. Give it a like. I appreciate it. It helps me with the YouTube algorithm and I really appreciate it. Well let's get started. Well, on my list today I have what I need. all the rotated clothes in there shouldn't be much, but I just need to sort through them and check them and then I also want to wash some of the bedding that needs rotating, as well as bath mats in the bathrooms and hand towels. and then their blankets downstairs so we have some blankets that live down here on the couch and in this area that people use to nap and snuggle at night and I think it smells bad so I'm going to wash them and then I have to do it.

The shower and tub in my master bathroom and then there is a stain on the floor that was not

clean

ed so I need to see if I can't. It got

clean

but someone spilled some nail polish and then tried to wipe it off and didn't. Tell me, so I have to go there and see if I can really remove the nail polish and then for the home school stuff, I need to prepare his lessons and make the schedule for the week and then make sure the classroom is clean tonight. so we wake up tomorrow morning with cleaning up some of the stuff and stuff that the kids are going to help with and contribute to as well and then I have to have them yell play on the grocery order and then on the grocery stuff job I have.
To finish editing a video, I have to make a thumbnail for another video and then my reward if I do all this is to try to go to the nail salon and get my nails done, it will only take about an hour, so if I do it all. This is done before they close, if there is time, I think they open on Sundays. I'll have to check it out, then maybe I can sneak out and get my nails done, but let's start with the first thing I didn't write down. It's just that I need to make my bed and tidy up my bedroom.
I have some clothes I need to put away, so that's the first thing. Well, one of the things that everyone's been asking about is since I did the decluttering series, which I haven't finished yet, but since I started doing that in my bedroom and all that, you know what maintenance is like and I'll tell you I mean, you can see here that I still have a little pile of stuff at the foot of my bed, but it really makes it a lot easier, everything has a place, so it's weird that my room looks like this but it's messy, like at the foot of the bed.
I usually keep it very collected because it's super easy. Just taking five minutes every day to put things back in their place, so yeah, I mean, I'm really pleased with how I've been able to

stay

on top of the changes that we've made in each of the rooms. a little more challenging in the rooms where my kids live because they don't have the same requirements for what is picked up and cleaned and whatnot like I do, however overall I would say everything is pretty well organized, you know how I organized it. I set it all up, okay, so I'm going to grab my bath mats.
I want to wash them. Part of the problem with having white bathroom mats is that they need to be washed very frequently, but they really don't. I don't have a ton of clothes to wash, so I just went through and sorted the colors and everything and started changing clothes. I really try to do laundry almost every day and that helps so we never end up with things like that. six seven eight loads unless I'm doing a bunch of sheets and bedding and stuff like that as you've probably noticed I have my airpods on so this is one of those things that for me you know I don't love Folding laundry doesn't it's my favorite thing, but it's pointless and I can just listen to a podcast or an audiobook and just zone out while I fold laundry.
I said this in another video recently, but there's not much to it. In my life, they feel like super dumb things I do all the time, so being able to just mentally do a fall to go through and fold laundry is kind of nice. I'm going to join my son here, my eight-year-old son, Noah, this is. drawing there and I'm going to go ahead and sit down and

plan

the next week of school, you know I use my little

plan

ner to write down more what we've done and not so much, you know tons of planning ahead in terms of exact lessons and things like that, but this week we're starting a couple new things curriculum-wise, so I really wanted to map out how I thought would work best with our schedule and change things up with our loop schedule.
I've done videos before about our loop schedule and how I loop different lesson plans, so that's what I'm looking at now is just making sure I have everything I need for that and I'll write down any supplies as any type of supplies I need. for experiments or something, so I like to review and see what's coming up for the week. Ivy is eating some pretzels and I'm going to make myself some lunch, so Christopher had previously prepared lunch for the kids and he was actually getting ready to leave to pick up the girls on horseback, so I'm the only one who hadn't eaten right now, so I ate pretzels intravenously and made myself grits and eggs because what a great way. to break my fast with grits and eggs and as you can see my little boys are trying to mess with their little brother, he had fallen asleep when Sierra came home so he had

stay

ed there sleeping and now he was awake so it was time to eat and take him out and of course juggling the craziness of toddlers and trying to answer messages and all that, that's how it seems to me sometimes feeding babies and juggling toddlers and sending some work emails.
Well, CR went to look for the girls. on horseback and this time he took noah and jonah with him and rosie so I have the twins and benjamin here and they don't really let me do much so we have been curled up on the floor and now they are eating ice. Those little popsicle things, I just put crushed ice on them and they love it so that's what they're doing and CR should be home in the next 10 minutes or so and then hopefully I can get back to my to do list , but I've been distracted by the little kids right now and it's like the sun is beating down, but I keep pushing down, I keep pushing and I just wanted to give my tub and shower a good clean, they all will.
See in our next video we did about the kids chore

routine

and the things that we do that are part of the weekly chore routine is cleaning some of the bathrooms, but I like to clean the shower in the tub myself just because I don't know. I want there to be a certain level of cleaning that's a little harder for the kids, so I take care of that and it's quick and easy for them to take care of their bathroom and the downstairs bathroom and I'll sweep and all that in mind , but I'm in charge of cleaning the glass, the bathtub, the shower and all that kind of stuff, so now I'm going to sit down and try to continue

meal

planning.
I tried to start that when I was having lunch but as you could see my twins were all over me so now my husband is back and we are discussing

meal

planning and once I have it this is the same routine as always I do once I have written down the meals we are going to have during the week for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I make my shopping list based on what we already have in the pantry and what we still need to buy and have been using instacart because we normally do a Costco order and a Food Lion order and it just works for us, the groceries are available in a few hours and the convenience is worth it so I'll do our grocery orders at those two different stores and then Once that's done, I go to the whiteboard and I write what all the meals are for the week and I just write.
I don't write everything. I don't write down the garnish and all that kind of stuff because we just know. so most of the time I just give a rough explanation of what we're going to have and like I said before this isn't set in stone it's just kind of a script of what the options are for the lunches and dinners and we can definitely change them as needed or if someone is really craving something that is different than what is written, then we will simply change what we plan to have that night so we are not married to it.
I've never done. love known so constant even go I was my favorite part where I can come and start checking boxes of things I've thought and done is my favorite part of the day here's Rosie being cute playing with Amelia playing with those magna tiles Again, that organization that What I did to separate those toys has been really beneficial and the girls are here painting, working on some horse drawings and paintings and things of that nature. I just thought I'd show you what everyone is doing and now I'm I'm going to grab the bedding, we had just washed the sheets so I just needed to wash the quilts that go on top so I grabbed all that from the kids room so I could wash them and tried to straighten them a little after the kids tend. just take off their clothes like snakeskins wherever they want and of course now we're back to doing more laundry, surprise, surprise.
I have never known a brighter sunset, but every day I see it rise. How I never thought it could be better until I saw it. Now I see it in your eyes. I've found that when other people put away clothes they don't meet my standards of what I expect the drawers to look like, so sometimes I have to go behind and sort things out and organize them, but I couldn't just look at it like you know, kind of like that thing where even though you've organized something, you still have to go back and keep arranging and organizing it as you go, and it's the same with kids like them.
I'll put things in the wrong drawer and, you know, I go after them and fix them where I can and I don't think much of it and I don't stress about it. I only do it when I'm there, you'll see in a second, when I open their shirt drawer, that I basically spend the first few minutes refolding shirts that they just took out and then put back in there, so you know, play. Things as I go along and I try to keep them organized, but I don't stress about it and I try not to stress them out either, just kind of fix it and move on, so our groceries arrived and actually both orders arrived basically.
At the same time, CR and I will bring everything from Food Lion and Costco, and then I'll show you what's in themeal plan for the week, as well as groceries, and again, these groceries are just what we needed to complete. it's not all the groceries you need to make the whole meal if that makes sense okay so the groceries are here so this is the menu for the week. We have cracked chicken, chili, spaghetti carbonara, we have pizza night, taco bake, one pot, meatballs, honey. mustard chicken and then salmon and asparagus and then for lunch it's just hot dogs chicken salad macaroni and cheese pizza rolls chicken nuggets sandwiches grilled cheese yeah, kids like cheesy things for lunch anyway, so these are the groceries for the week just to fill out what we needed so I feel like I said that in the last video but no maybe people didn't hear that like it was just to fill out what we need um still we have things in the refrigerator, the freezer, the pantry and all that, so graham crackers, jam, hot dog buns, mashed potatoes, shredded tortillas. cheddar noodles and rotini some green bananas the girls like these crystal white packets parmesan cheese goldfish we got some grapes and strawberries and pizza rolls with applesauce half and half these were all supposed to be cherry tomatoes for Ivy and they gave us two mmm Ivy loves cherry tomatoes, that's a pain, it's a problem with the grocery order and we have to pick this up, sometimes I substitute it and maybe you get what you get.
We have honey mustard for honey mustard chicken pasta sauce. I got some activated yeast to make something homemade. bread this week mozzarella sausage pancetta bacon ground beef we have some salmon this week and then some pepperonis tater tots chips look at our love ZFS where there are more of those than anyone toilet paper milk towels down there so I was just to top off what we needed for our dinners this week but there you have it some Costco some Food Lion okay guys I'm almost done with my Sunday routine so I just put the last load of laundry in the washer. so I just have to do the rest of that and put it away, but that's just the bedding for the kids and a bunch of towels, so once that's done I'm completely done doing the laundry and totally stuck.
I ran out to my office real quick and took care of a couple of work things that I had to do, so they're done, we've done a lot, we've done the meal planning and the grocery ordering and we've put them away. I have prepared everything for school. week and I feel pretty good. I feel like I've done the things I like to do on a Sunday. The sun is setting. You can see it's like it's coming to the end of the day. I take my time. I go through these things slowly, I don't want to say, but on Sundays I really don't like them, I'm not going to break their hair and pass through here like a tornado as if the children wanted to sit and read read a book or hang out or play as if it were to stop what I'm doing and do that.
You know, I took a good amount of time this afternoon just sitting on the floor playing with the twins and Benji and hanging out with them, so I especially like Sunday afternoons to really relax and relax. Tonight we will have dinner with Brenner. We were going to have a recipe called split chicken chili that I really wanted to make for you so you could see it's one of my favorite recipes, it's so delicious, but normally I would put it in the pot before we left for church, so We don't do it when we get home and of course we didn't go to church so I didn't do it, however, then I forgot to put it in the pot during lunch, like I thought about it when I was sitting down to lunch and then I totally forgot, so we're going to have Brynner, which is breakfast for dinner, in case you didn't know.
We're having that tonight, so it'll be something quick, simple and easy and then we'll save the split chili chicken for another night. I'm going to film a video that will be like a week of dinners and I'll share with you every night what we're doing. Making the recipe is very quick, how we make it and we only share with you a week of recipes so the video comes out soon, basically from here we will do it and then we will get into our nightly routine. So if you want to check that out, I know you all like routine videos, so I'm going to do an updated morning routine now that we have eight kids.
I haven't updated it and then I'll also do a nighttime routine, so if you're interested. On those videos, be sure to let me know below and subscribe to my channel so you don't miss them, but I really hope that you got from this video the vibe that I want you to get from this video is that we can do things to set ourselves up for success next week , that's how I like to operate. I like to take care of things, but for me it's not just about going and doing all the things, being in all the places, at all times, you know many things.
Sometimes people say oh, I don't know how you do all the things you do, how you do it, blah, blah, blah, and then they list all these things and my answer is usually very simple, like I'm not doing all of those. things every day. I do different things during the week, but on a daily basis I don't do all those things, so I like to take one day a week, which is Sunday, to have everything. on the right track so that we can get off to a good start tomorrow and Monday morning. I can wake up and be energized feeling like everything is done and we're ready to start the week instead of feeling like you're behind. eight ball Monday morning just trying to catch up so that's how I like to handle my Sundays.
I want them to be relaxed and about

family

and hanging out, but I'm also doing things so that I can have the peace that I want to bring to next week, the lack of stress and all that stuff that I want to bring to next week because, again, I think that, especially as women and mothers, a lot of that is self-imposed on us, I know. that I am someone who is very affected by my environment and, you know, I can start to feel very anxious and stressed when my environment is chaotic and out of control and that has been the story of my life for the last six or eight months, everyone knows that's why I've done this whole decluttering series, so creating these types of routines and things for me has been very beneficial.
I'm not a schedule person. I don't want things to be like black. and Ashton Stone white. I just want them to be like a loose routine of the things we do, that's how I handle Sundays, like taking a break to read a book, have a snack, or take a nap, whatever you want to do, but just you. I know you try to do these typical things every week to make the next week go smoothly, so that's it for today's video. I hope everyone participates. I hope you had a fantastic day and see you soon.
